Oakshire Public House

I really love this pub.

It's the vibe, it's the beer.

The latest place to open to a packed house in the Whiteaker - soon to be Brew City, Eugene with Ninkasi and Hop Valley - this one deserves it.  The booths are made from plank lumber, there are three huge garage doors that fold up to make this a truly indoor/outdoor space.  They're pulling in a food truck every night to offer you something good and local to nosh on with your beer.

It feels like community here.  The usuals stopped by - that table of guys in their late 30s wearing baseball caps, sunglasses, t-shirts and cargo shorts, some of them with pretty tattoos.  But there's also the couples getting together after work and families meeting up, their kids grinning from ear to ear as they run around the place.

And the beer is excellent.  True confession: I"m not into micro-brews.  Or at least I didn't think I was.   I tried their signature Amber Ale (nicely fruity), a Belgian-style IPA called De Ho-pho and a smoked ale that was interesting and tasty and whose name by the end of my third pint I can't remember.

Really good scene, a new favorite.
