The food is the best I have had in a long time. Went through the drive thru and pick up dinner to go for the family. Â Won't be the last time I do this. I highly recommend the Chicken and dumplings and the Bq chicken sandwich. oh did I say the collard greens & corn bread.
Mr. Happy is the real deal!
Just went by Mr. Happy's new location near 42nd and Main in Springfield and was blown away! First of all, his coffee is fantastic. Â If you like bitter, over priced coffee then just keep heading to starbucks. Â Ready for the way coffee is supposed to taste, then track down Happy! Â Enjoyed his coffee and company so much in the morning we went back for lunch. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing and the slaw on top could be a dish all on its own. Â The collard greens was filled with more pulled pork and bacon and is a great way to eat your greens. Â Can't wait to go back and try his other dishes. I never take the time to write reviews but this man deserves it!
Review Source:I met Mr. Happy at the Lane Farmer's market where he had a tent selling coffee. He explained that he sold not just coffee but pork bbq, and proceeded to explain to a friend and myself the drool-worthy care he takes to season and smoke his pork shoulder. He went on to explain how he makes his clam chowder and Alabama style chicken and dumplings. I couldn't believe Mr. Happy was skinny and so capable of making me forget the meal I'd had just 30 minutes before we'd met by merely describing the food he's surrounded himself with.
So, I ventured out to Springfield and sampled his chicken and dumplings and his pork bbq. The bbq sandwich was good. I am biased, as a native tennessean, to another style of bbq, but the meat was impeccably well done. Well-bbq'd pork is something so rare in the PNW it rendered my regional allegiance irrelevant.
But, when I go back, I'll be gettign a full order of the chicken and dumplings. It was very good. I'm somewhat tempted to go back tomorrow to try the clam chowder, too. Hmm.
I didn't try his coffee or tea, but is seems like this is the bulk of his business, and if Mr. Happy and fam. put as much care into coffee and tea as they do into their food, I am sure they're both worth a try.
