My eleven year old LOVES the original in Coburg. So for takeout at Granny's place we tried this instead of Mezza Luna, our usual "go to" spot. I liked it - nice ambiance, family friendly, a few well chosen ales on tap. Mixed experience, overall pretty good.

It took a while - they said thirty minutes on the phone, and it was at least that. A "caesar" was actually more like a garden salad, tomatoes etc, but perfectly tasty. The menu was totally confusing - LOTS of choice, both "new" and "classics", the couple in front of me took five minutes to order! We went with "kids' staples" - half plain cheese, half pepperoni, so the kitchen didn't have much chance to show their stuff. And it was good, solid pizza - thin crust, flavorful, a little overcooked/crispy (I like it like that, but didn't order it that way). So a solid three stars, maybe four as we get to know them. Nice addition to the Springfield dining scene.

I was a big fan of Pizza Schmizza because I like different and interesting pizzas. I'm not into the same old boring "let's see how many ways we can rearrange pepperoni" on a pizza.  The problem is, Pizza Schmizza went out of business in Eugene back in 2009 and I was bummed.

I had heard about the Coburg Pizza Company through word of mouth and much to my surprise, it was outstanding.  I still hitup Schmizza when I'm in Portland, but head to head, this pizza is by far better and more creative.

I like their location because it's very spacious and nice inside.  The service I've gotten is outstanding because as soon as I've walked through the door, they've greeted me almost instantly.  I noticed all their employees have a smile when talking to you, which clearly means they have to be trained or coached that way, because there's no way pizza making can really be that fun.

It's not the cheap, fast food style (Domino's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, etc) so don't expect that.  It's in the range of the upscale Eugene places (Papa's Pizza, Pegasus Pizza, Track Town, Roaring Rapids, etc) where you're looking at a $20-$25 pizza pie.

So obviously if paying that much is too expensive, you won't like this place either.  But comparing Coburg to those places, they're on par or cheaper for price. They don't skimp on toppings, sauce or cheese.  In my opinion, they are without question the best pizza place in Eugene.  Period.

My only complaint is that they don't deliever, but I guess I shouldn't be so lazy.

I give them 5 stars whole heartedly.  This place is the best kept secret in Eugene/Springfield.  Definitely a place I'd tell visitors to eat if they're new to Eugene or here for just a few days.
