Mookie's Place

This place is AMAZING.  It's been open since 1986, and it's always busy in the evenings.  The restaurant has the decor and atmosphere of a diner, and as I sat down and looked around, it was devoid of hipsters (except myself, of course :-)) and full of happy, smiling people.  I actually ran into people I knew -- who live in Eugene -- and it told me that if people were willing to travel here, it must be one of the best kept secrets in the area.

This has always been one of my mom's favorite places, and it's where she wants to go to have food that is "just really good."  They have 7-11 specials every day -- the specials were heavy on the seafood and sounded delicious.  My mom got the hot seafood salad with a sundried tomato vinaigrette, and I got a simple grilled, chicken parmesan that was served with linguine in a light marinara sauce, and then surrounded by chopped tomatoes and spinach.  The freshly baked bread was a really nice touch.  Our server brought over a beautifully plated dessert tray, and we finished off the meal by sharing a piece of the pumpkin cheesecake and coffee.  All of the servers were so friendly and made sure we wanted for nothing -- it was an outstanding meal and time spent.  I'm not even doing this menu justice.

They also serve lunch (closing at 2 pm before re-opening for dinner), which offers pretty much the same food as dinner but substantially cheaper.  Catering too.  They close early in the evenings (8, and 8:30 on Friday and Saturdays), so get there early.  Closed Sundays and Mondays.
