BF and I stopped in early one weekday morning absolutely ravenous. I ordered my "go to" breakfast: Chicken Fried Steak and dear BF ordered pancakes, links and fried eggs. Breakfast was very generously proportioned, priced acceptably and very tasty.
I've never had CFS quite like this before: the breading was pretty heavy and unusually seasoned...perhaps a ranch-based herb? I don't know, but I really enjoyed my breakfast! Crispy, butter flavored hash browns. My coffee was enjoyable, as well!
Our nice waitress was adequate, as was the woman who rang us up. Our friendly ambassador was the delightful man who walked by and asked us if everything was fine. We figured he was the owner/manager. I guess it's always nice when the help is friendly and during our visit to the Pump Cafe, he was the one!
Sooooo, you ask, if we enjoyed our quaintlittlecafe breakfast as much as we did, why the 4 star rating? Only because our food was highly salted. There was so much sodium in our food that one hour later my tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth and I couldn't get enough liquids down. Haha!!!
This place is just adorable... very clean and, well... just so cute/quaint/old school!
The food is always good and most servers nice, but one lady has ruined this place for us and we don't feel good about returning. Â Had it been just once, we might be able to over look her attitude. Â We like the owner and other servers, but four times of bad attitude from this one girl is too much to overlook. Â I hate to be saying goodbye to this place, but we have not returned since number four incident. Â This server needs to go...!

I love this little place in Springfield.
You don't often see "love" and "Springfield" in the same sentence, right?
Maybe it was because the cute boy I had a crush on ( before I met my husband, mind) took me here for a yummy breakfast. French toast and omelets are delish.
Coffee is good, too.
Lunch food has always been  yummy too, (chicken salad, soup, burgers)  homemade-ish-like, the servers are sweet, and I like the feel of the place.
It's small, plan accordingly.
Parking is sometimes rough.
