A friend and I went the other to check this place out and have lunch. We sat in a booth  and while we were waiting for the server, I believed a manager came over to see if we had been taken care of. We said no and she got drinks for us and the server showed up and apologized with why she hadn't attended to us sooner. My friend ordered a Blackened Ahi Salad based on our server's recommendation and I got a grilled chicken sandwich. We both liked our meals.
Afterwards, we checked out the game area, the bowling lanes, the live theater and the bar upstairs. As we were looking around, a guy (manager perhaps) who was behind the bar talked to us and gave us four free passes to see a comedy show. How nice! All he asked was that we let other people know about the comedy shows they have.
Later that evening, after dinner, my girlfriends and I wanted to go to a bar to chat and I suggested Latitude 39. We sat over at a high top by the bar by the restaurant. Our server was very nice an attentive. Some of the girls got desserts and/or drinks, I just go water and we had no problem hanging there for 3 hours.
Overall, both my experiences were great. The place is bigger than it appears, has 3 bar areas, multiple bowling lanes, an game area, a spacious live theater, 2 pool tables, various places to lounge, and soon a movie theater that they server you food at your seats.
I came here for a company department party, and we bowled, ate pizza and cookies, drank, and played arcade games. I had a BLAST, but full disclosure that I didn't pay for any of it, and I have no idea what the dance floor or restaurant itself is like. I would definitely come back here on my own with friends, though.
We went on a Thursday night, so it wasn't crowded at all. The pizza and cookies were surprisingly delicious (I guess I'm used to normal bowling alleys with mediocre food and without actual restaurants). The music was the perfect volume to dance while bowling (okay that was mostly just me) and still hold conversations. And the service the entire time was fantastic.
The arcade has all the fun games except DDR, so similar to Dave & Buster's. For my prizes I got with game tickets (which are tracked on a card now instead of actual tickets, oh man technology!) I chose huge star glasses and a silicone duck with an afro. That duck is now named Quinton and is our department mascot. So yeah, I'd say it was a fun time!
Too many kids. No thanks.
$45 per hour for two people to bowl. No thanks.
Ordered drinks. Not food. Saw the food. Didn't love the overcooked food I witnessed coming to tables. Again. No thanks.
Cool atmosphere at the bar though. So if you're looking for a spot where people can  play games, bowl, and hang out with live music (at least it was on a  Sat night) then this is your spot.
This place is...um...interesting. Â Tons of police and security as you enter is kind of off putting as is the $5 cover charge after 10pm on Saturday. Â Upon making my way inside I quickly lost 75% of the interest I had while parking. Â Perhaps I had over hyped the place in my mind, which is easy to do seeing as I can not only eat and drink but also bowl and play games all in the same place?! Â Hmm...
The YAYs!:
- lots of televisions so if you are interested in watching a sporting event or the like, you can't turn in any direction without being in eye shot of a tv. Â Big screens at the end of all the bowling lanes is nice.
- plenty of security if you are worried that someone may try to steal your gaming card and your tickets!
- very clean restrooms.
- after 10pm on Saturday it is 21+. Â I like kids but I like kids that are forced to stay home even more!
- Happy Hour and bowling specials throughout the week.
The NAYs!:
- $5 cover charge? Not sure the purpose of that seeing as I am about to spend an arm and a leg trying to stay entertained here.
- drink prices are outrageous! $6.50 for a Gin & Tonic in a baby size glass. Â Please.
- games are pricey to play. Â $1=5 points and most games cost at least 5 points and could top out around 10 points.
- prizes are geared more for children.
- smallest dance floor ever with some dead space between the bar and the restaurant area that should be utilized with more tables or to utilize as more dancing room.
- IT IS SUPER LOUD. I don't really like shouting over my dinner.
- bar staff are rude and slow. I get grumpy when we make eye contact and you can see I am waiting but help four other people before me.
I probably won't subject myself to this place ever again unless maybe I was in the area and really hankering to go bowling AND I was able to get there for a bowling special.
There are still some start-up bumps in the operation. Â You are swamped by greeters (who are pushing tours) and valets at the door, employees tend to "gaggle" at their stations, and employees are frequently unprepared to answer unexpected questions.
I phoned in a couple of nights ago to ask about reservations for the two live shows advertised in Nuvo. Â The first person I talked to did not know anything about them and had to check with her manager twice on general questions such as ability to make reservations. Â She finally came back with the answer that they didn't take reservations for small groups (mine would have been for 2 people). Â I was left with the impression that the place was open and with generally open seating. Â That was disproved when I stopped in Friday evening (January 11th). Â At that time, I was informed that the live entertainment area was not open. Â Contrary to the Nuvo adds, the live entertainment for 8:30 on Friday - Sunday isn't happening. The room won't be ready for use until February.
I stopped by in the early evening after work for drinks and munchies. It wasn't too busy at the time, and, unlike the earlier reviewer's experience, the service was prompt and attentive. Â We had the buffalo wings, crab/spinach dip, and the boom boom shrimp. The wings were meaty and well done. The dip was somewhat bland (I wouldn't recommend). The shrimp were very good
Will return. Hopefully, it will overcome the start up humps.
It's pretty darn sad that on their first day of being opening this placed already ticked me off. Their big opening was on the same day as another restaurant close by and I got confused because I thought the place I was going to was inside of Latitude 39 because I thought it was a bunch of bars and entertainment places in one. The people at the door were really nice, but when they led me into the restaurant I was greeted by a hostess or manager with a serious attitude. I explained that I had a VIP card and handed it to her. I also told her that I had emailed someone about it. She said "First of all, I'v never heard of this woman in my life and I have no idea what you're talking about. This pass is for Drake's, this is Latitude 39." I apologized and said "I know this is Latitude 39, I thought Drake's was inside of it. Can you direct me to their place?" "Yeah, it's outside." She said. I asked her to be more specific. "It's down the road" she said and pointed to the door. She was blunt, rude, short, and completely unhelpful. I already felt like a moron because I was in the wrong place but you don't act like a jerk to someone on your first day of being open. She ruined my night and put me in a bad mood on a day that I should have been enjoying myself. If my friends decide to go here sometime I will probably go and give them another shot, but I don't think I'll both if it's on my own accord. There was no reason at all to be so crappy to me. It does make me laugh though that they already have a ton of bad reviews. Go figure.
Review Source:I feel like I should start this by saying the night ended well, and that was about it. A friend of mine saw the advertisement for their big New Year's Eve party and we all thought it sounded like a great time. We arrived around 9:30 and were surprised to see children running around. Thankfully, children cleared out around 10. However, the DJ they hired was not what I was expecting for a New Year's Eve gathering. The music was very old school, but not terrible after some drinks. However it was waaaaay too loud. If we would have had more information from the start, we would have gone somewhere else for sure. However with it already getting late by this point and not being prepared to pay a cover charge for somewhere else we just stayed. And drank. A lot. However, the drinking a lot would have been much easier had we been able to get service at the bar. It was extremely slow, and every time I (or one of my friends) told them we had an open tab they somehow couldn't pull it up in their system so we had to get the card out every time, defeating the whole point of being able to open a tab. On the plus side drink prices weren't horrible for an Indy bar. So like I said from the start, the night did end up being fun- mainly because of the people I was there with, not necessarily because of the venue itself.
Review Source:There's a 99.9% chance I danced with your dad, divorced old uncle or any other father figure you can dream up on New Year's Eve. Don't be mad. I had no choice. It appeared that 80% of the attendees were 40 and over (not that this is old, maybe just a wee bit out of my typical age range for making dancing pals). We contemplated leaving at 10 because of the low attendance, but by midnight either the place was bustling or the amount of alcohol I had consumed made the number of attendees appear to multiply. One more interesting number for reference: Pregnant women cited in bar = 3. Seemed like a high ratio for the number general attendees. I have officially made it sound like I have a thing against those over the age of 40 and pregnant. Forgive me. This isn't the case - just not the scene we were expecting.
Pros:
-good drink prices and friendly bartenders
-fun DJ
-nice bathrooms
-large venue - perfect for parties
Cons:
-small dance floor
-bartenders had a hard time keeping up (circular bar shape might be a factor in this?)
-it might be possible that I have a little chip on my shoulder for venues that try to offer it all (for example, restaurants that claim they specialize in steak, Chinese and Italian all under one roof - hohum. I'm not convinced).
It puts Dave & Busters to shame. The place is massive. Huge screens like as if you're in Vegas, movie theater, bowling alley, arcade, pool table, live dj, bar, restaurant, etc.
Pros:
The entrees are priced right
The dj plays all kinds of music (dance, hip-hop, electronica etc)
There's always something for everyone regardless of age
The machines at the arcade game area are new, expensive and fun
Huge screens for sports fanatics
They have celebration packages
Cons
They don't have a decent selection of wine
They only serve cheap prosecco for "champagne"
The food taste average...nothing special
The prizes for the arcade game is just ok
Pros - Â the bass was *bumpin* during the DJ's set.
That's the only pro, and yeah, I meant it sarcastically.
This is the sort of place that some people will love. Â I'm just not one of those people.
Reasons why some people will like this place: Â
*If you like to wear Affliction t-shirts that are too tight or maybe a sweet Under Armor hoodie when you go out, you'll feel right at home playing pool upstairs (2 tables!) or sitting in the sports viewing area ($5.00 cover to watch an MMA bout).
*If you like old school rap played at an insanely high volume by a DJ that holds the microphone right up to his mouth and yells into it (meaning you can't understand 95% of what he's saying) then you will love this place.
*If you like the games at Dave & Buster's, you'll like the arcade area.
*The bowling lanes look nice and I could see coming here to drink and bowl with friends, but probably not with the super loud music and the crowd here. Â If you really like to bowl, you might like it here.
There were a ton of employees working on Saturday night, and most of them were friendly. Â The service was hit or miss, some of the employees clearly have no idea what they are doing. Â Can't operate the cash register, have to go and ask a manager basic questions, etc. Â I ordered a Ketel One and tonic and was asked "A Cattle what?"....I thought maybe the server couldn't hear me because of the loud music so I repeated it. Â She told me that they didn't have it. Â I asked her what other vodkas they serve and she didn't know. Â Then she asked me what sort of vodka I had ordered and could I spell it....she would go ask the bartender. Â She brought back a vodka & tonic that tasted like discount vodka and said it was definitely Ketel One. Â It wasn't, but oh well.
Their website says that they are a "luxury destination". Â Ummm......sure they are.
I thought I would pass along some feedback regarding two recent visits. Â Last Thursday, the VP of my department brought his wife for dinner. Â They ordered a bottle of wine, of which the waiter took twenty minutes to look for and was unable to locate. Â The second bottle they requested met with the same fate and was unable to be located. Â By this time, the VP and his wife had already eaten most of their meal. Â I believe that they spoke with the bar manager before they left that evening and although they understand that it was opening night, they were a bit disappointed to have not been able to enjoy a glass with their meal.
Secondly, Â I brought my family to play a little while and received a tour. Â We played a game of bowling and although I didn't win, we still had a great time. Â The lanes are enjoyable but the background music/tv was so loud, I had to shout quite a bit to be heard. Â I also thought that $35 per lane for one hour of bowling not including shoes is just a little pricey. Â
That being said, the one thing I definitely want to mention is that the service we received the entire time we were there was impeccable. Â Every one of the employees that we interacted with had a smile and a pleasant demeanor. Â Even my VP mentioned how everyone that worked that night he was there was pleasant and courteous and had a ready apology. Â This is exactly what will make us return. Â If there is one thing that we detest the most is being made to feel like we are a nuisance by the very people that are hired by an establishment to provide "customer service".
Pricey or not, good service will always bring me back.
It was opening night so I am sure that they are ironing a few things out, so this review is a reflection of my service tonight and the business model itself.
I gave this place 3 stars because I am rating the whole place and not just the food and food service which would get 5 stars from me.
The food was good. I enjoyed the food, despite the dining room being too dim (some seats didn't have light at all, but I imagine they are working on that.
I had a rib-eye dinner with green beans and a salad. Everything was pretty good, and the surprise winner of the night was the 'boom boom shrimp' which I bought on a whim because of its terrible name. It reminded me of crunchy/spicy shrimp tempura with spicy mayo. We also had the seared Ahi appetizer, which was a little over seasoned, but good, and the fish was a decent cut. My boyfriend got the flank steak, and he said it was pretty good. They had a decent beer selection (not great, but some Indiana staples, which is good) on draft and bottle selection. Noting that they didn't have a whiskey/whisky list.
The building itself seems nice enough, but its all very cold/lighting is just 'chilly' and not inviting or comfortable. It seems like a giant sports bar that happens to have an arcade and a bowling alley in it. It doesn't seem very woman friendly or kid friendly, which usually wouldn't bother me for a sports bar, but I don't think this place bills itself as a sports bar. This is not a place I would feel comfortable coming to drink with my friends. The bars aren't inviting or warm. Everything is open/big and there are televisions on practically every surface that there aren't giant screens on.
There's a nice room in the main dining area  that has shelves for what I assume will be top shelf offerings, but for now they are populated with regular bar fare. I will be interested to see what ends up there if I return.
The arcade has nice, new machines in it, but there are very few that are actually interesting to me (as an arcade lover) , though I imagine a lot of people will like the selection. They have a good balance between regular games and redemption games. If someone in charge reads this, you should get a DJ Max Technika machine, I know some people that would fill your place up.
The bowling alley looks nice and new. The movie theater also looks very comfortable, and once it opens it could be a nice date night if there isn't noise filtering in from the main area.
My only real complaint is that they have some noise issues, between piping music through the place, the sports sound, the bowling and the live band somewhat over the top. The place the band was stationed wasn't very acoustically sound, and being in the middle of the building, the band sounded pretty bad (which was not their fault, they were decent) because of the acoustics of the bar in the big open space. It was jarring, to say the least.
I'm excited to see what they do with the 'live venue' aspect of it despite the fact that there is an LED screen in there that could blind you if you walked by it with your eyes closed.
Overall, the food is good but the atmosphere is cold and loud. I imagine a lot of people will like it, its probably just not the place for me. I'm not really sure what the target audience is for this place, and my worry is that they aren't either. I can understand the idea of needing to be many things, but it seems like the planning team made this place a big sports bar, which should do well in Indy, I imagine.
