I've been here quite a few times over the years. The food is good for the most part. The chips are underwhelming. The menu seems very Americanized, but we need a few Mexican joints like that, eh? Not too many places can you substitute beans and rice for mashed potatoes. The prices are a little much compared to most Mexican restaurants. The service has always been just fine. The best service has been on the 2nd floor bar area.
This place won't ever be my first choice, but if anyone wants to go I won't say no.
4 stars mean that I'm a fan... not of the food, which is only slightly better than mediocre... but of the service/management here. Large  party -- including 4 kids. Gluten allergies for 4 and 2 vegans. No booze so we were a Great Big Pain and not a big check. Still, our server (also the bartender) Doug couldn't have been nicer and more responsive. The manager -- Andy -- was really wonderful too. Personally visited our table to answer allergy questions and assure us that they would accommodate our needs. Then stayed to chat for awhile. Funny, engaging, authentic. On our next visit to kids/grands from San Fran, we'd be much more likely to eat at this DP than at someplace with superior food and not so superior service. That's saying something from two SF Foodies. Thanks Doug and Andy for a really nice evening.
