I've been here two times -  both for dinner - and was very impressed with the food and the service on both occasions. The first time I had chicken & waffles with pepper jelly (OMG, so delicious!!!) and the next time I had their grilled fish, which was also wonderful. My favorite thing by far is the smoked salmon dip - I could eat this as my entrée! They also have a drink called the Porch Swing that is a must try - it's tea with peach vodka and mint - perfect summer drink! The service is great - no problems with our orders, very attentive. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!
Review Source:I've been here three times already and I have no intention of slowing that frequency down! Â I think this place has a lot of potential. Â I really hope that people catch on to it and help to make it successful.
From the outside, you're not sure what to expect. Â It was once a Shoney's so it's hard to imagine it as fine dining spot. Â However, when you walk in...you can sense the attention to detail in decor. Â It's a wide open space so not very intimate but a generally pleasing space. Â
Now to the food...The blue cheese chips - OMG delicious! Â The salmon dip - YUM!
I had the ribs on my first trip and was very pleased with them. Â Second time around, I had the chicken and waffle. Â I've been to Roscoe's in LA (more than one location)Gladys Knight's in Atlanta and Sylvia's in NYC and I must say, Legacy's version of chicken and waffles is outstanding!! Â It was my pleasure to devour this meal. Â It is extremely filling though so be prepared to feel like a porker when you're done. Â I actually saved some for dinner and was equally happy eating it the second time.
I had the Legacy Burger as Mmy entree on my third visit was not impressed, unfortunately. Â I found the burger to be overcooked and the fries not very tasty. Â In spite of this last experience, I still recommend this spot. Â They offer a nice change from some of the other chains out in Metairie and truly serve delicious meals. Â Check it out!
I have to say, I was disappointed regarding my recent trip to Legacy. Â Let me start off by saying the service was okay, nothing special, but it was fine. Â My problems, however, rest with the food.
The blue-cheese chips to start off the meal (I believe they come complimentary) were okay tasting, but definitely not something I would want to serve in a restaurant. Â I'm not a fan of chips draped with melted blue cheese. Â I just feel like it is a little much for an appetizer.
My open-faced meatloaf sandwich was a disappointing aspect of the meal. Â Although I ate it (I was starving and was not patient enough to wait for something else), the white gravy was unappetizing and the meatloaf was nothing out of the ordinary. Â Some meatloafs rise above the rest, taking the home-made type, and giving it added flavor. Â This meatloaf was something that was average, and not worth the price. Â Add the gross white gravy on top, and it was a below average entree.
My main problem, however rests with the mashed potatoes. Â I have had mashed potatoes from many, many places, at many, many different times. Â These were, by far, the worst I have ever eaten. Â The mashed potatoes had a vile taste. Â I am a HUGE mashed potato fan, but when I took my first bite it was almost surreal, how can you mess up a simple side like that? Â Well, Legacy can give you an answer. Â Take a simple side, and ATTEMPT to fluff it up and add a bunch of different extras into the mashed potatoes until the essence isn't there any longer, the only thing left is an artificial mess.
Let's just say I won't be flying back.
Great service , great food.
Only did a burger for lunch but it was tasty appealing to the eye and quick.
Chef poppy seed buns bad choice for people coming in for lunch, Â not always time to pick them out of your teeth.
Looking forward to dinner over the weekend can't wait to explore more of the menu.
Had the pleasure of visiting Legacy this past weekend for Grand Opening.

Sat at the bar, which faces the kitchen. Very nice architeture to really add an unconventional ambiance. I enjoyed my 'waiter recommended' classic cocktail for drink. Wanted to eat light, so I ordered the salmon dip (very appetizing) and Legacy salad. Both were excellent choices.
