Went there yesterday with two friends. Â Meg was our waitress but I only learned that by reading the check--what is it about the wait staff not telling you their name here? Â Not withstanding, the service was good, food came out fast & was good.
Had the smoked salmon and toast as my entree ($10) and it was yummy! Â Chopped fine red onions with plenty of capers & dill sauce. Â Could have used a few more pieces of toast but it was good and definitely a great price point. Â Will definitely be going back!
Our waitress (not sure what her name is yet because she hasn't told us) gave us out menus and said "to drink?" without a smile on her face. The portion sizes for price aren't that great. 10 wings for $10 is never a good deal. Especially since they were decent at best. Buffalo chicken sandwich is pretty good, but still is $10 for an okay size. Waitress (still don't know her name) has walked past us 3 times without asking how the food is, refilling our drinks, or offering more napkins for the wings. Towards the end  our server did a somewhat better job, but never got our drinks refilled. Overall it was a pretty bad experience. Most likely will not be going back.
Review Source:Great place with $2 or $2.50 bottled beer during happy hour. Inside is great and the outside patio is even better. Sitting outside, you have a chance to see a concert or some cute ducks walking around.
We borrowed the darts from the barkeep and was kinda disappointed in the condition of them. Not a killer, but I would bring my own next time.
Will definitely come again!!
Love this spot and the Watters Creek area in general. Nice little getaway from your typical see and be seen type of places. It's mostly low key and they have a great selection of beers if that is your thing. The food is awesome as well! I've had their fries with this curry dip that was outstanding and I don't even really dig curry! The service is super warm and friendly. They also do trivia some nites. Great for birthdays or just to get away and have a drink with a friend!
Review Source:The Londoner has been my spot for an afternoon or evening pint since I moved to Allen a few years ago. It has one of the best beer selections in the area and decent appetizers. As a plus, they are usually showing several different games of the sport in season as well as what the rest of the world calls football.
Review Source:SO AWFUL!!!! Sheesh, this summer this place was so much better. The food was absolutely disgusting. I had fish and chips, which used to be actual fish to a sort of fish stick like design which was greasy, salty and tasteless. Â My husband had the Steak and Ale pie, which was too rich and heavy and utterly each different piece within this tasted the same, and. the crust was uncooked! Â The Londoner has changed for the worse.
Review Source:I really would give this place half a star if I could. Â If you are going here for the Fish and Chips turn around and fin another place to eat. Â My husband and I went on Saturday afternoon and the place was dead. Â The servos was great but the food; which we had the fish and chips was terrible. Â The cod did not taster like it had been cooked all the way and the batter was not even crispy. Â Needless to say we are in the hunt for a good Irish pub that serves fish and chips. Â Oh and for a beef, diet coke Nd 2 fish and chips are bill was $45.00. Â Way to expensive for fish and chips.
Review Source:I really like the ambiance and food at this restaurant - it's the service that stinks. Â It's as if the entire staff is pulled aside & told: "ACT SUPER RUSHED, PUT OUT, & ABRUPT EVEN IF THE PLACE IS DEAD - AND WHATEVER YOU DO, MAKE IT CLEAR YOU CAN TAKE OR LEAVE THE PATRON." Â It's that consistent. Â If you're the only customer sitting in there at an odd lunch hour, everything from simply being greeted to getting a straw takes forever sans apology. Â Every time. Â Ugh, and that brusque attitude all the servers have. Â For the record, the same nonsense applies at the Frisco location. Â I just gave up & quit going.
Review Source:Stopped by the Londoner after dinner for some drinks. They have a cute patio area with multiple entrances. It was a little awkward walking in and not seeing a hostess to "greet" you but that didn't really matter. We grabbed a table and ordered our drinks. They have a wide selection of beers and mixed drinks. Drinks were pretty cheap. Waiter made some great recommendations that we all enjoyed. The restaurant is spacious and has TVs playing different sporting events. They have a juke box with some of the best hits of the oldies but goodies. :) A cluster of us patrons enjoyed singing along. They have darts and a pool table in the back. It was my first time to play darts, and I had a great time! :) I would definitely return and tell my friends all about it!
Review Source:I'll be fair with this review, and consider this separate from the other locations.
Aside from the beer, and the lack of volume to a US soccer game because two old guys wanted to see the Rangers game on the ONLY TV that is connected to the audio system, I was GRAVELY disappointed in a particular food item I ordered.
It's a pub, so your basic finger-foods should be GREAT! But they weren't. I ordered the Covent Garden Salad and the Stuffed Jalapenos, which makes me CRINGE just to type that.
The Covent Garden Salad was very good, and for the price it was a pleasant surprise. I would absolutely order the salad again, light and easy with a good cold beer. I recommend it to anyone.
You likely have figured out it was the "Stuffed Jalapenos" that I am appalled with. Here's how the menu describes them:" very different! four large jalapeños stuffed with chorizo sausage & jack cheese. served with ranch dressing." Normally, this sounds awesome! Sadly, I got a "SLIVER" of a jalapeno in a batter that is shaped like a pepper and stuffed with the remaining ingredients. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! NOT EVEN A WHOLE PEPPER?!?! I freakin' sliver?!?! As a human I'm insulted! Not only would I NOT order this but I was tempted to start throwing things and scream!
As I'm an adult and have some class, also because I didn't want the cops called, I simply made the most of it and made a mental note to review this item on Yelp.
My waitress was okay, but mentioned she was a little off because of some allergy meds she took. Okay, I've worked in food service but that wasn't a good excuse for getting my beer order wrong. Instead of the beer I ordered she brought me the same beer from my first order. So I won't raise the dead for her soul. She was nice though. I was a little confused as I had two waitresses that would come by my table.
The atmosphere was empty, but it was trivia night and I was REALLY just there to watch a game. With the lack of volume to the ONLY soccer game on in a SOCCER PUB was very much the let down. It is well laid out, and is an English Pub.
I ALWAYS enjoy a good beer. I will NOT go to the Londoner in Allen. The fact that the Stuffed Jalapenos weren't even REAL stuffed jalapeno peppers was enough for me to almost boycott the place.
As I'll review the other locations individually, I have had some of the other menu items and can say that they were okay and very good.
I've tried two other Londoners and this one far outshines the others. Typically I'm up for a pint of Guiness anywhere, so thought we'd stop in, my duh and I. Soon we found ourselves stopping in every week for the pulled pork sandwich or the bangers and fries - not to mention the Scotch eggs!
Review Source:Went to this location a few weeks back with a couple of friends... The food was great but the service was pretty bad.
I ordered the tuna n chips which was amazing.. the sauces they used were perfect range of sweet n spicy and the dipping sauce for fries was great. All my friends tried a piece of my tuna and loved it.. cooked perfectly med rare and flavors to die for.
The service was quite the opposite... First we were talking to a female waitress who was extremely nice and helpful but due to her shift being over we were transferred to a guy who really seemed he could have cared less if we were there... Â Cups sat empty quite often and for extended periods of time... and dirty dishes sat on table for at least 20 min... I made remarks to the waiter about paying my tab once the tables were clear and it was still another 10 before this was done...
I give 4+ stars for my tuna but 0 stars for service... Had we kept our original waitress this easily would have been 4 stars maybe even 5... Guess we will have to give it another run next time I am craving fish n chips
The Londoner is a great place to have a relaxing night with friends. Â This locations is very spacious and is family friendly as well. Â There are TV's for sports-goers as well as darts to keep your interest while you're sipping on a beer. Â PLUS they have a pretty awesome beer fountain outside (don't get too excited, it's just water coming out of the fountain, folks). Â The outdoor seating is ample as well and great for when the concert series is going.
I really like their thick cut chips - especially with their curried dipping sauce! I would NOT recommend their chips and salsa for an appetizer, though - the salsa tastes more like pizza sauce... wompwomp. However, their warm pita and hummus is great! Â
They have a pretty good drink selection, but it's not super impressive when your Guiness is served to you in a tall can. Â A tall glass is a bit more presentable, but it's all going to the same place anyway, I guess!
The last couple of times I've gone, there were whiskey tastings which are always quite pleasant to stumble upon! Overall, I think the planners did well in staying true to the overall feel of the Londoner in, say, Dallas or Addison while adapting it to meet the needs of the Watters Creek community.
Found my new haunt. The bartender was actually helpful and served me a strong drink which instantly upped their rating.
The smoked salmon appetizer...was huge and the bomb! It was smoked just perfectly. Wifey got the Fish and Chips and I kept stealing her fries.
I tipped the bartender well in anticipation of being back. I haven't tried the one if Frisco which is down the street from us but I hope it is as good as this one.
If you are with some buddies or your better half stop by and enjoy.
Just realized I haven't reviewed Londoner even though I've been several times...
This is a great place to have a few drinks day or night. Also a good choice for drinks plus some decent pub food. The staff is friendly, the place is comfortable, and it is family friendly. I don't feel at all awkward when I go there for a pint and some food with our little ones.
For this area they have a great selection of draft and bottled beer as well as a full bar. Their fish-and-chips are my fave from the menu (though not as good as Trinity Hall).
In summary I've had fun hitting this place for a drinks outing with friends as well as going for a pint and some grub with the family. And weekend evenings there is usually live music by the creek right outside their patio.
My harem of lovely women & I came in the other night. We all wanted Fish & Chips & brew. We had 5 Orders, and everything WAS devoured! Complimented by a great blonde beer for me and cocktails for the lady's.
Expected to have the feel of a English pub, the Londoner paid off. The decor, feel and TV was pretty damn English.
   Â
Service: Our waitress was phenomenal. Destiny is a up beat, vivacious woman who is not only attentive and full of smiles; she also knows how to work! This is the reason she got a 30% tip from me and will have me coming back to give her more!
Conclusion: Great staff, If you want to grub on some Fish & Chips and other English delights, go spend your hard earned dollars here!
Totally going back with even more women this time!
Notice I say nothing about prices or the food selections. I know when I go out, Its to spend money and have fun! The food will be food and the drink, drink.
Read all of the previous reviews and was somewhat biased.
Not so. Â It was about 4:00 PM on Sunday, which for this part of the country was just a georgeous day. Â There was an Art fair and live music in the Commons.
It is English food and that is it. Â Just what I wanted.
I have also eaten in the Addison unit. Â Just as good.
My wife and I spent the day hanging out at Watters Creek. After tagging along with her, I spied this oasis in the middle of all the stores and shops!
I really like this location. It's actually bigger than our local hangout in Frisco. Really nice inside and a great patio outside. Â Lots of great beer to choose from just like all Londoners.
Next time my wife wants to go shopping here, I'll tag along but I think I'll head straight to The Londoner and save her a spot on the patio.
I can't say what it's like on a normal night, we came out to Watters Creek on Fri & noticed they weren't busy during dinner. Didn't stay late enough to find out what the bar crowd was like. 2 weeks later returned on St Paddy's day. Came early & staked a couple of tables outside at 4:30pm, they were already out of green beer! In 2 hours they had fixed it. Menu was limited to holiday Irish dishes, altho drinks weren't. Prices were decent compared to the Trinity where we were celebrating year b4 (they $$ gouged). Bar staff was great, made good tasty strong drinks, not watered down.
It was their 1st year at that location, they went all out, had a live band & guy playing bagpipes. Â Nice crowd out @ a family oriented shopping center. Service for ppl outside was difficult (no one working outside) we had to order from a bar window where they had placed seats for patrons so everyone had to order around them. On a work night we stayed well after midnight. I don't think they were expecting that kind of crowd out there (it was perfect TX spring weather).
After we come back & experience it on a regular week I may give it 5 stars. They just need to figure out how to work a big crowd. Over all we had a good time -- good friends, conversation, & drinks.
A good addition to Allen, a relaxed pub was needed. Â Service and drinks have been good all three times I've been in. Â I have yet to eat there so can't vouch for the food. Â I wish they had at least one more pool table, there's only one. Â Then I think 3 dart boards and lots of TVs to watch sports. Â Overall a convenient good place to hang with friends.
Review Source:It's a great bar, I'm not a huge fan of the food (that's why there's a 4 star), it's good for bar food, but defiantly overpriced. All the bartenders are great, it seems like there is a new one every time I go, but they are quick and helpful...and also fun people, which really makes it fun to come here. Also, the free jukebox and the darts, I love those features. Its hard to find Franconia on tap, and when it is, its usually just one kind, this place usually has a couple on tap at a time. The location is hidden, but that's part of its charm (to me at least)
Review Source:Low and behold another Londoner lets try this one..
Drive up to Allen to have a beer
Open the door what did I hear
Glasses clinking and plenty of chatter
Have a Harp and started to natter
4 pints gone and Im in the mood
Grab a menu I want some food
A steak and Ale pie for me
Run to the restroom to have a pee.
Sink two more pints then the pie gets here
That pie was great but I prefer more beer
Its time to go I'm feeling drunk
Those last 2 pints I shouldn't have sunk
I'll will return to this place
All because I love the Ace (Cider)
Stopped in around 3 on a Friday afternoon for beers with the husband...too early for Happy Hour, but no worries since we only would have saved a dollar a beer.
Bartender was nice enough, although he was away from the bar for about five minutes after we arrived. Â He caught my attention by doing that snap-fingers-finger-point thing when I happened to gaze in his direction (he was tending to one of the high-top tables) and said he'd be right with us. Â Right backatcha. *finger guns*
I'll agree with another reviewer in that the draft beer selection was pretty pedestrian but then again, it's Watters Creek. Â One of the ladies sitting next to us ordered a Michelob Ultra, so there you go.
Not bad in terms of what we were looking for...A BAR. Â We went to Tammany Hall over the summer and the place depressed us, so we've been looking forward to The Londoner opening.
The best part - and why we'll go back - the place is completely NOT kid-friendly. Â I'm sure when the weather warms up and the concerts on the green pick up again, gaggles of parents and their offspring will monopolize the patio and make life annoying for everyone else...but that is why we will go anytime other than Friday or Saturday nights.
Not sure about the food, but a waitress walked by with what looked like fish and chips and it smelled good...that's a start. Hope to get back over for lunch someday.
I am glad that this place finally opened. Â The food was descent and atmosphere good, but they need to fix their beers. Â The Guinness was off tasting and the Boddington's didn't look like it should. Â For a pub they have a pretty average draft selection that needs to be expanded. Â I will be back to try it again.
Review Source:What a difference between this restaurant and what used to be here. Â I think The Londoner is a great addition to the Watters Creek area. Â It provides a place for buddies (or couples) to have a drink, or to have some good British food.
We had the Fish and Chips and the Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. Â I HIGHLY recommend you try those dishes if you desire food at this pub. Â Beer selection is plentiful (Stella on tap, fantastic!).
