Madigan's Bar

This place could be so much better. It has a great location, nice setting, it's clean, good food, but the bartenders have zero personality. Almost to the point of rude. I am always disappointed when I'm in there. The bar has no character. No identity. When I go to fins or pals or wherever, I'm always greeted with a smile. Correct me if I'm wrong but a bartender should be a little friendly. I've been in madigans when it was dead, and the bartender sits behind the bar on her iPhone. I kept having to get her attention every time I wanted another drink. Sometimes she would just ignor me so she could finish her text or whatever she was doing. New customers came in and sat at the bar and doesn't even look up and acknowledge them. If I ran this place id fire the hole staff.  It's really disappointing because I want to like this place, it's stumbling distance from my house but Id rather drive across town to a bar where the bartenders know me and take care of me.  Madigan's isn't really bad, it just has zero personality and a staff that could care less.

The Madigan's of today is no different than the Madigan's of the 90's. There is something nice about a bar that can remain that consistent, but it is not without its issues.

One thing that has seemed to change is that on the night I visited the crowd seemed older than I remembered. That wasn't a bad thing, as I am older now too.

I do wish they would go smoke free, but I actually wish all bars would go that direction.

Service was friendly and prompt. I am not too sure about their beer selection as I was on a High Life kick the night I visited, but their prices seemed reasonable.

The men's room is smaller than most bars, so wait till no one else is inside before going to pee.

I do prefer Cooter Brown's if I am in the Riverbend, but it was nice to visit Madigan's for old times sake.

This is a basic bar in the Riverbend that offers a consistent experience.  It never seems deserted but never seems crowded either.  It has a very long bar and several tables and chairs so there never seems to be a lack of seating.  They have decent drink prices and usually good service.  They also have pool and a few other distractions to entertain you.  The main downside is that this place can get really smokey at times.
