Cooter Brown's Tavern & Oyster Bar

I have gone to Cooter's multiple times over the years. I love their food, and I get excited when I'm in the area and have an appetite. I went there the other day to treat my long time friend to a birthday dinner. I placed my order, and the was immediately told to leave by the owner of the restaurant section..because he didn't like the person I was with. Straight up said "GET OUT" about 5 times and the cashier said it wasn't a joke, that we had to leave. I was shocked. Normally, I'd stand up for myself but this was just strange and uncalled for. I literally placed my order, and was told to leave. How is that any way to run a business? I feel really bad for the people that work in the kitchen because I know that they are subjected to cruel treatment every day, and I don't know why people think money is worth abuse. Kind of pathetic that they let their obviously miserable boss treat them like crap and say racist, homophobic and sexist things to them constantly. I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to go there, including all my customers at Tulane University- their biggest supporters :).

After arriving late to the airport in New Orleans from a rain storm in Atlanta on July 3, 2013.  I was starving so my friend suggested we get something to eat.  I forgot to check in :(.   Cooter Brown's is located on S. Carrollton Ave hidden in a corner. Since it was my first time in New Orleans she recommended I get a po boy.  I went for the catfish and boy was it delicous.  I will definitely eat here again and I highly recommend it.

While the beer list is quite intimidating, it's excellent for people (like me) attempting to try new beers all the time.  On a mission to try them all and Cooter Brown's is a great place to start!  Fun atmosphere while watching sports.
Learn from my mistake .... when ordering RAW oysters, order at the bar.  If you order at the window, they come out fried.  oops!  Despite that mix up, fun atmosphere, and a great chance to try lots of new drinks.
