Went there once only, looking for a place to have a lunch for visiting beer loving relatives. It's small, but with a great and very comfortable outdoor lounge for waiting and having a beer. Â They do have a great selection of those. The waitress was really nice, and very friendly. Â It seems to me that it would be the perfect little pub for those who live nearby and though I didn't stay to eat much, the tiger prawns were pretty great and I'm sure to go back, though probably at off hours when it's not too crowded.
Review Source:We have visited several times. Â We had several appetizers, of course beers, and my little one tried a seafood corn chowder (which she said was very good, but super rich). Â Appetizers were fine, nothing special. Â I love that they have my favorite beer on tap right now! Â Of course, it's a seasonal, so it won't last long, but they always have something I like.
We stood there for a while (ten minutes or so) when we first walked in. Â There were several empty tables, and just about every one of the staff looked one of us in the eye, and then went in a different direction. Â We almost felt like they were hoping we would leave before they had to seat us. Once we were seated though, things got better, and we had great service.
I love this place for a low key bite to eat and some drinks. Â They have a great selection of beers on tap and their menu is amazing. Â Lots of different options, and everything I have tried there I have enjoyed. Â
Service is always super friendly, even when it's crowded....which is like always!
I love to just order a bunch of appetizers with our drinks, especially the asparagus spears and bruschetta. Â It's easy to not leave room for dinner there with all the great options on the appetizer menu.
The only downside is their wine selection. Â You can bring your own bottle however.....corkage is cheap! Â (I think $15)
Not a fan of strip mall restaurants and still not. However, this place does about everything possible to try to get you to forget you are looking out into a sea if blacktop filled with autos.
The food was simple but tasty bar food and the beer selection was uniquely superior. Â With sports on the flat screens and killer blues streaming from the hidden speakers, I wish I could say that I was comfortable... Â No connection.
I was planning our weekend away in Folsom and found out about Manderes per recommendation from a friend. After he gave the me the name of the place, of course the first thing I did was check out their Yelp reviews then their website. This was the perfect place to grab lunch and kick off our relaxing weekend.
He was there for the beer, I was there for the fries. I knew my fiance would love this place once I read about their extensive beer selection and microbrews. He seemed to really like the menu and I'm not sure how long it took him to decide on a beer before we ordered but I was hungry! All I remember about the beer was Scott had a double red and I had something that tasted pretty close to Hoegaarden. I know my review doesn't justify the beer, I'm sure my fiance's will- like I said I was there for the fries!
We decided to order the angus burger with fries and hot pastrami sandwich with onion rings. Both were mouth watering delicious! The burger was thick, juicy and and cooked medium well. It had a lot of flavor with a hint of smoke. The patty was sandwiched between two ciabatta slices that were really soft and lightly toasted on the grill. The pastrami sandwich was heavy. It was loaded with long, thick slices of pastrami between toasted bread. My fiance really enjoyed the creamy horseradish sauce that was served on the side.
I love fries! I have kind of a fry addiction, so for me I was all about the fries at Manderes. They were seasoned, golden brown, crispy, twice fried and not super oily. The fries had a really good flavor that kept me eating more and more. The onion rings were really good too. I like that they weren't overwhelming breaded and cooked in a way that the whole onion string didn't creep out after every bite.
Manderes is really small but perfect for their size. They've got a great menu and friendly customer service. They also have a really small section outside to sit and drink with friends. I'm assuming this area probably needs to be reserved. I'd recommend Manderes for lunch, happy hour or dinner. We left Manderes with a pretty good food coma that put us out for an hour... what are you waiting for? Just get in there already!
My wife and I have been dropping in here occasionally for a couple years. We have NEVER had a bad Meal here and have ALWAYS been treated really well here.
Recently we revisited Manderes for our first meal after breaking a long Fast.
For starters we had  the Calamari strips with AMAZING Dips....and for dinner.....
I am a creature of habit and ordered the same Old Rasputin RIBS I had been getting in our past visits, but my wife tried this Seared AHI Tuna with Risotto and MAN is that a Killer Dish! She is Addicted to it....... I cant even begin to tell you about the AMAZING DESERTS JUST DO IT! LOL
On our first trip back there we met Mandi, one of the servers there....she went ABOVE and Beyond and made us feel like their best, most Important customer, her attention and suggestions are what EXCELLENT customer service is all about and what will bring me back to a business sometimes more than the quality of the products...... Manderes has it all!
We have been back every weekend since that return, and have not been disappointed .... Manderes is consistent, fresh and has very reasonable pricing with unbelievable portions!
It is refreshing to enter a business and are immediately recognized and welcomed like part of the family. ...... Its time I start working my way through the rest of the AMAZING menu!
Keep up the great work and see you all soon!
Such a great place for such a random location... The choices - both food & beer - are freakin' amaaaazing & the atmosphere is perfect for a fun date night. As if I wasn't full enough after dinner & beers, I couldn't resist dessert. Let's just put it this way - I could've died happy. :)
Review Source:Still have great beer and food. Unfortunately they have the same food I tried 3 years ago wheni first went there. Â Plus their beer prices are higher than Samel Horne's. Â For example the Knee Deep Double Wheat was $7.54 at Manderes and $3.00 at Sam's. Both places were in the Happy Hour mode. Normal price at Sam's for this brew is $6.00.
Pretty much done with them.
This place is amazing! Â My parents are beyond picky and they loved it too. We had the tiger shrimp with rice, ribs, and pork chops. It was all so yummy and fresh. The staff is incredibly assertive and friendly. Lots of the customers knew the owner and are repeat customers so that's always a good sign. I live a half hour away but will Def be back! :). Keep it up Manderes!
Review Source:Tried Manderes last night for the first time. Â It was fantastic! Â Small, intimate setting but enough room to feel comfortable. Â The staff was wonderful. Â The owner Brent spent time with us and made us feel at home. Â Best of all, the food was sensational. Â Two in our party ordered the beef kabobs. Â The chunks of meat were huge but succulent. Â And there were three of them covering the entire plate. Â I had the rib eye steak and the flavor was fantastic. Â Another friend had the salmon and loved it. Can't say enough about this restaurant and definitely recommend it to everyone.
Review Source:Man, der es some ultra delicious eats to be found at Manderes. ;P Â And drink too, if you like der biers.
The motto here is "No Crap On Tap". Â Says so, on the backs of their bowling shirts. Â This gastro-pub is fer serious 'bout dat.
Superior selection of craft beers, including several from Belgium or brewed Belgique-ly. Â Belgian ones are served in wine glasses.
Usually I'm not into beer, but when in Rome-- or Folsom as it were... well anyway, just had to sample here. Â Glad I did. Â Grimbergen (a Belgian Dubbel) was ultra tasty. Â Smooth and sweet. Â Witopia (Triple Voodoo), a wheat ale spiced with lemon and coriander, was light-coloured, refreshing. Â And the Straffe Hendrix Quad, almost as dark as Grimbergen, was nice too.
Manderes is situated in a shopping plaza, but what else is new about most any resto nowadays. Â (If you're facing the pub entrance, Trader Joe's will be off to your left.)
It has more of a friends and couples crowd, some folks at the bar watching whatever's on. Â With four TVs in the place, sports fans won't have to miss a thing. Â Some team called Lakers were playing. ;p
The kitchen is no slouch. Â Things can be pricey, but they do have happy hour with appetiser deals and a few half-off beers. Â I got greedy and might have had one too many tacos. Â Steak and fish were okay, but Carnitas taco was the star. Â Mild salsa on the side.
Manderes cooks some rad tasty Brew Fries: Â golden brown, perfectly seasoned, twice-fried, steak fry cut, potato slices. Â Now maybe, it was just hunger pangs talking, but I swear... omigod slap yo dog, so goood! Â Addictive chips. Â Devoured, and fast.
And all that, even before ordering dinner. Â Surf and Turf-- the most expensive thing on the menu-- delivered. Â A one-pound rib-eye steak rubbed with Montreal pepper, served with four jumbo prawns. Â Cooked to per-fec-tion.
The tenderest rib-eye with excellent beefy flavour.  Huge, buttery, plump and scrrrmptious shrimp.  Butter makes everything better, and seasonal veggies were bathed in it as well.  Altogether yummasing entrée.  I also love the heaps of parsley garnish.
But you needn't splash out to eat well. Â There are pastas, sandwiches, and the salads and burgers being brought out looked dope. Â Burger is the best value: Â eight-ounce patty on a fluffy ciabatta bun comes with choice of fries, onion rings, salad or slaw.
Manderes turns out some of the best grub in the Sacramento area. Â A sweeping statement, sure, considering I haven't dined here in, well, forever. Â But I bet it's true.
If you have a taste for the finer beers and equally fine food, and somehow wind up cruising these parts, mosey on over to Manderes.
Awesome beer list, it just seems to be a little overpriced. Our waitress seemed like she would prefer us not to be there but I think that's just her temperament. Don't get me wrong, she gave satisfactory service, but I'm a big fan of getting that personal touch. I've been in the food service industry for around seven years so I think that accounts for me being particular. anyway the food wasn't memorable for me and thats the main reason for the 3 stars. I'll be back but just not for the food.
PS random pet peeve is when Waiters/ Waitresses bring me a box instead of offering to box my food for me. You only had one table is all I'm saying. People love the personal touch right?
I like to bring my wife here after I return each week from work off-site. Â It's also a favorite place to come for birthday parties and special occasions. Â Brett is a great guy and runs a great restaurant. Â We love Amanda and her great service, she really goes out of the way to make sure our dining experience is awesome. Â The food is great, had the shrimp and scallops last week so last night I switched to Angus burger and steak risotto for my wife. mmm.
Great beer and wine selection as well.  Pliny the Elder is a must  try!
Getting a little noisy for an old geyser like myself on the weekends but still worth the wait.
I really like Manderes and I can't specifically say why... it just all comes together in a way that brings me back. Â Located in a typical Folsom strip mall with Target and other retail outlets there is nothing remarkable about the outside... almost easy to miss. Â Stepping inside nothing really 'pops' out at you... not boring, but not remarkable either. Â Has a bit of sports bar feel... but upscale if that makes any sense. Â I suppose the numerous big screen TV's and a few high tables give it that feel, but the tamed down industrial chic of the decor and overall feel it gives pulls the sports bar thing back. Â On the smallish side some popular nights make it loud and crowded, but I have enjoyed those nights along with the quiet Tuesday nights also. Â Wait staff attention is mostly really good, attentive and friendly... but busy nights can bring a wait or impatience.
The beer... good grief... if you don't find something that works for you, you just don't like beer. Â Served in proper glasses for the given beer and properly drawn... an art almost lost these days. Â The food... so far no disappointments at all. Â I've had the Korean Beef, Chimay Chicken, and Asian Chicken Salad... all very good. Â I gotta say though, and this is trivial, I shouldn't have to ask for a slice or two of bread with my salad... on the other hand... that same salad had as much tasty grilled chicken as greens and dressed with a nice Asian vinaigrette dressing. Â The plating... the folks in the kitchen know how to plate and it is soooo refreshing!!! The plated entree looks as good as it tastes... even a simple order of fries come to the table plated with care... props to the kitchen for that alone!!!
Manderes is a feel good place... if crowds bug you, go on a weeknight. Â Go for the beer, go for the food, go to feel good and leave feeling that way.
The upgrade is strictly based on the beers available at Manderes. Â I haven't been back for dinner since my first review, which was at their previous location.
The selection of beers is huge! Â If you're looking for a place in Folsom to kick back and enjoy some superb beers, Manderes is the place.
Wife and I have been meaning to try this place for ages...after all, it is a local joint (NOT A CHAIN)...something rare in modern day suburbia...but something I really appreciate. Â I like supporting local joints and you should too! Â Why haven't we been there sooner? Â I can't say as we read a bunch of good reviews. Â I guess when we have a night sans kids we always default to sushi. Â Shame on us though! Â Manderes is great!
First, their selection of beer is awesome. Â They have my absolute favorite (on tap), but I won't reveal it because I don't want everyone and their grandma flocking there to drink it (sorry Manderes). Â Let's just say it is the best IPA ever made! Â
As for the food, I had the Angus Burger, something they seem to be known for...along with onion rings. Â Both were very good. Â My wife had the crab cakes as she wasn't very hungry. Â Here is my only knock on the evening...but congrats to Manderes for turning that frown upside down! Â The crab cakes arrived rather luke-warm at best. Â But our server (who was awesome) promptly took them away. Â No, she didn't reheat them as many restaurants would do...they cooked new ones! Â Seems like a small thing, but a touch that was appreciated nonetheless. Â Unfortunately by the time the new crab cakes arrived, I had scarfed down my burger. Â No biggie...mistakes happen and it is really how a restaurant handles those mistakes that determines whether or not I will be back.
Let's just say, I WILL BE BACK. Â Our waitress comped the crab cakes...she didn't have to, but again, it is always a nice touch when a restaurant owns up to their mistakes and makes it right by the customer. Â I can't stress this enough because so many places would do nothing at all or simply offer me a free dessert that I didn't really even want. Â Kudos to you Manderes for doing the right thing.
The food was good...the beer was excellent...the atmosphere is homey with just the right vibe for a casual blend between bar and restaurant...and the service was top-notch! Â Sorry I've waited so long Manderes...but rest assured I will be back...most definitely sometime around Feb/March! (inside joke that our server would understand). Â I'm looking forward to giving Manderes a chance to earn that 5th star...if I could have given 4.5 I would have!
I want to LOVE this place because I'm a huge craft beer fan, and they always have exceptional, varied brews on tap. Â Some of the appetizers are good, like the Asian wings, but the can't seem to make a burger without overcooking it into shoe leather. Â I rarely send food back, but had to, and the replacement was just the same. Â Maybe a new cook or a bad night, but it turned me off. Â I used to be a regular at the first and second locations off Bidwell, but now I prefer to go to Sam Hornes on Sutter St. Â Amazing craft brews and the juiciest burgers and fries around.
Review Source:My family had reservations for dinner @8pm at Manderes, we were seated right away, but because they were short of staff the service was really slow. We started off with the Asparagus Spears and Black and Tan Onion Rings. Both appetizers were crisp and tasty and served with a ranch dip. For dinner I had the Korean Barbecue Beef, apparently their house specialty - thinly sliced marinated steak served with rice, kimchi, and stir-fried vegetables. I thought the dish was pretty good, but it doesn't live up to other kbbq I've had. What I really liked was their large variety of beers on tap, I tried the Franziskaner Heffe - the oldest hefeweizen in the world with a hint of banana. Overall it was an okay experience, food was decent, service was friendly but slow, I expected a little more from Manderes.
Review Source:Located in a plaza on E. Bidwell and Blue Ravine.
Beer and wine-- They have a great selection of microbrews on tap.
The food was okay. All of the plates were sprinkled with chopped parsley, too. I don't think that's necessary..
Don't bother with the onion rings.. The fries are where it's at. Double fried and they serve it with their 'cusabi' sauce and it's one of those sauces that can easily go on anything. Other than that-- Shrimp Cocktail was okay, burger was overcooked, Bulgogi Hoagie was boring-- meat and bread.
Beer and fries were the clear winners.. Staff was really nice and I would come back and try other things just not ASAP.
Massive selection of beers here at Manderes. Â I wish I had found this place and tried them when they had their old locations since everyone keeps saying it was better at the old place. Â Never the less they have a monopoly on the beer selection in the area. Â The food here is what you'd expect and great "beer food". Â Bartenders and staff are always pleasant and can recommend something if you don't know what to order.
The have televisions which is a plus for the sports fans, and those fans can be noisy also.
My babe came from San Fran to visit me and read about the selection of beers this bar had. He read somewhere that it was the best place for beers in Folsom, which he is a definite IPA connoisseur. We had some fish taco appetizers that were very tasty but really messy. Customer service was really great, lots of TVs showing the Olympics at the time which was nice. He wasn't that impressed by the beer selection but everything was good and a nice atmosphere. Wouldn't go out of my way to go again but the experience was great.
Review Source:This Place was Amazing ! I Have been twice and it was great both Times.
Tried it one a whim since it was close and now i cant wait to go back.
Staff is amazing and  they help each other out helping making it great place to eat.
they know their menu and can make great recommendations .
Amazing food and great happy hour specials. Just Go !
I have a "Best and Worst Burgers in Sacramento" List that includes burgers from all over the Greater Sacramento Area, and a fellow Yelper recently told me I had to include Manderes' Angus Burger to the list, and recommended I give it a try. Â I of course obliged, on the basis of integrity and personal responsibility... who am I kidding, I just couldn't resist. Â So I packed my travel suitcase with extra undies and a change of socks and made my way to Folsom, really testing the boundaries of my list as it says "Greater Sacramento Area". Â By the time I completed the voyage, I was indeed ready to feast, and my stomach grumbled angrily at me for sustenance. Â "All in good time my friend," I replied comfortingly, hoping it was all worth it.
At first glance of the menu I realized very quickly that this place was special, and that perhaps a burger wouldn't be the right choice for this kind of place.  But I stayed strong, and made my order.  I ordered the medium-cooked Angus Burger (9.99) with Cheddar Cheese (.99) Bacon (1.49) Jalapeños (.60) and Avocado (1.40) coming to a grand total of $14.47.  Ouch!  I also made sure to ask for it to come with their highly recommended Wasabi Mayo, and elected for the side of onion rings.
When the burger came, I knew it was going to be different, and I was very excited to taste it. Â I immediately stuffed my face with an onion ring, and then two more in rapid succession as I eye-balled the burger. Â Some of the best onion rings I've ever had, and they quickly disappeared from the plate. Â The bread, surprisingly, was ciabatta bread, cut at the top to ensure the correct amount of bread (and not too much). Â The avocado came sliced and to the side, as well as the RAW jalapenos. Â I guess I expected a place like this to have grilled the jalapenos a bit and put in the avocado themselves, but no matter, I fixed up the burger myself and then took a bite... Heaven. Â A perfectly cooked medium burger with so much burger flavor... the burger hit me first, and then the wasabi mayo added a little bit of bite, followed by the bacon and the jalapenos, cooled down by the avocado and ciabatta bread. Â WOW! Â The jalapenos would've really been better if they'd of been grilled a bit, but everything else was perfection. Â Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, what a burger. Â The wasabi mayo, what a great compliment. Â I think that should be on every burger and not a side item that I didn't even see listed on the menu. Â
I'm out of my seat, standing up on my chair and clapping, BRAVO.
On taste alone, this is the best burger on my list. Â But when you factor in the price, it takes a hit.
And that could've been the end of my review, but no, there's more. Â I couldn't resist, and I decided to go big, and I ordered their "Xango" otherwise known as the fried cheescake. Â At $9.99, it's a bit on the expensive side, for a dessert, but it sounded so interesting. Â I had to try it! Â It came to me served beautifully. Â I'm talking work of art. Â Presentation 5/5. Â So to describe it, a warm, fried cheesecake, wrapped in some kind of thin cookie batter, covered in cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with caramel all over the plate, and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to the side. Â Taste 3/5. Â It was good, but not as amazing as it looked and sounded, and I feel like the ice cream was out of place and didn't realy add to it. Â I would recommend they find something else to pair with it, maybe something fruity (and chocolate instead of caramel, or both even...). Â I would get it again, but would describe the taste as something of a glorified churro. Â But that's coming from a guy who likes churros, and cheesecake. Â Overall 4/5 for the dessert.
I have been here several times for happy hour, so that is what this review is all about. I don't think you can beat $1 tacos (I like the shrimp) and hh beer and wine specials. They carry my favorite Meomi pinot noir which is another reason I hang here.
The atmosphere is very chill and they usually have a game on which is always nice. The staff are really friendly and I think this is a fun place to relax with friends after a day at the office.
Just remember $1 tacos are Monday,Tuesday and Wed only!
What a wonderful kid-free evening my husband and I had thanks to the babysitter and this restaurant. Â It's a sports bar but cleaner. Â No kids in there--not that I think they would turn kids away. Â Food might be a little weird for them anyway. Â California comfortable. Â Step above the regular bar food in taste, imagination and price. Â Good beer selection. Â Try something different when you're here! Â I love the Belgian-type, high alcohol content stuff. Â Good ambiance--TV's showing sports but music playing. Â Lots of laughing, visiting adults. Â
It might be hit-and-miss for getting a group in here, but I would definitely give it a try!
Pretty lame....owner was too busy socializing  to take names for the waiting list or ask people if they wanted drinks.....its too bad too, as I used to go to the old location often before it was popular, and tell people about it (so I feel as though I contributed to his success in a small way).  I have no problem waiting to sit on a Friday night, but don't want to feel like I have to wait in line for a seat...take my name, and maybe have a cocktail waitress take a drink order.....(the bar and the people waiting both win!).  Oh...if you are a friend of the owner...no problem....by pass the waiting list....I mean line...
Finally sat...waited 10 minutes to place drink order, after sitting.
Food was very good. Â My companion and I both order ribs, and I enjoyed them (although they are spicy!). Â They were very meaty. Â Owner was attentive once we sat down, so I added a star for that. Â Still disappointed with the over all experience.
Probably won't be back...
Note to owner. Â You should think of reconfiguring the restaurant to have people enter near the bar, and use the bar as a waiting area as well. Â Maybe a small wall (4 ft) to section off the bar area of the people eating?
I really love this place. I wish there was a little more variety of sandwiches and burgers, but they do a great job overall, and they absolutely do their best to make your dreams come true.
The wait staff doesn't always have any knowledge of the beers, but if you're that interested, the bartender or manager/owners seem ever-present.
Great place.
The beer list just goes on and on.. my primary reason for going to Manderes every. single. time. The owners and people who work here are genuinely passionate about the selection and VERY knowledgeable.
The context is laid back but nice... great place to bring friends for lunch after a movie or a long day of shopping in my case.
Speaking of lunch.. It definitely doesn't hurt that the food is just as much, if not more amazing than the beer they offer. DO try the Bulgogi Hoagie.. it is sooo good! AND the wings. I'm suddenly a chicken wings snob and I'm not afraid to say it.
XO
We had reservations on a Sat. night @ 7pm. Â Upon seating we were told that they were out of the pork chop. Â Oh darn, that's what I wanted but no biggie, Â I'm flexible. Â I chose the tuna. Â 10 mins later the waitress return to tell us that they were out of tuna too. Â Really!?! Â It's only 7p on a Saturday!! Â I ended up ordering the tiger prawns, it tasted fine but nothing to write home about. Â But let me tell you those were no Tigers!! Â My husband ordered chicken ravioli, they were o.k. Â Our dinner companions ordered bulgogi steak and salmon w/ risotto. Â The bulgogi steak was very tender and the salmon risotto looked promising. Â Our friend did mention the risotto was heavy. Â
The fact that our 2 orders were unavailable and that we were seated right next to the alarm that beeped every 5 mins. Give me no choice but to give them 2 stars.
Despite its odd location, the old Manderes had a quirky, cozy quality that, combined with the amazing food and top-notch beer selection, had me coming back again and again and again.
The new location is only slightly bigger and not too far down the street. They've managed to bottle the same ambiance and transfer it over. The decor seems relatively the same and their is a new bar to belly up to and sample their 100 or so microbrews. It doesn't have quite as much personality because it's in a strip mall, but that's a minor quibble.
My disappointment this time came when I discovered they no longer seem to serve the pork chop I raved over in my previous review. They had a Mongolian chop but I don't think that's the same thing. Anyway, I opted for the mahi mahi instead and found it to be a disappointingly small dish with overcooked fish. Not the high standard of food these guys are known for.
Nevertheless, if it's beer and great eats you want, order anything else on the menu (my friends ahi tuna was incredible). I'm betting Manderes has too good of a track record to disappoint more than once.
Careening towards Folsom on Highway 50 as my wife searched Yelp! for a dinner spot I hear "WHOA! Listen to this beer list!" Â She rattled off some beers, then listed some of the entree's. Â Yeah that's where we're going.
We walked in on a Saturday night at 6:45 PM. Â Small space. Â It's packed. Â Two people in the sitting area waiting. Â It took about 45 seconds and we were acknowledged, and our name was on the list as the two people in the sitting area were given a table. Â Now we had a spot to chill - leather chairs (eh, probably vinyl, who knows, I'm not an upholsterer) while we waited. Â But it didn't take long before we had a table against the window, which was cool: we could see the whole restaurant. Â Giant TV's everywhere, nice bar top, nice flooring and the fanciest drop-tile ceiling I ever did see.
We knew the beer list was impressive so I went there first, and my wife dug in to the wines. Â She asked the server for her recommendation on their selection of Pinot Noir and the server had one immediately. Â It was her favorite. Â NAILED IT. Â That was a great glass of wine. Â
The menu was tough - most of the items appealed strongly to me, and three in particular I would consider killing any of you for, so I had to choose. Â I went with the steak kabob's and my wife had the chicken risotto (pronounce it like Ramsey, damn it!). Â The kabobs looked perfect, like something I would pull off of my own grill (yeah, I am complimenting myself in my own Yelp! review, get on with it). Â The mashed potatoes were awesome and the dipping sauce was fantastic. Â The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the risotto was awesome.
The service was great. Â The servers knew the menu and their favorite items, they brought the food out promptly and accurately, even though they were at capacity with a wait (and two big parties). Â I especially enjoyed singing happy birthday, over one of the employee's phone to his buddy in Hawaii (hey, happy birthday, Steve, seriously). Â What a fun way to engage the crowd!
We had a great time and the food was kick ass. Â I wasn't at all surprised by the 4.5 * rating over 145 reviews because it is well deserved. Â I can't wait to go back.
Love this place! It's perfect for a first date or a night with the girls. It has a beautiful bar and everyone in the place is enjoying eating, drinking and talking with each other.
The booze:
The avid beer drinker will be more than happy when they see how many beers on tap Manderes has. I personally love any place that carries a Belgian farmhouse ale. Manderes has a tripel karmeliet which I loved!
Winos will be pleased too. They have wines from all regions: Italy, Washington, Cali and Australia. I started with their Prosecco, moved to their Pinot Noir and ended with the Cab Franc and loved them all!!!
The service:
I love the staff, they are so friendly and accommodating. I was worried when my server seemed to be a good 3 or 4 years younger than me that she wouldn't know much about beer or wine but she was knowledgeable and totally able to recommend a beer or wine that fit with my personal taste.
Fabulous place. :)
Very impressed with this place. Â I went last night for the first time. Â Here's the rundown:
Pros: diverse beer menu, knowledgable bartender, good steak, burgers, onion rings, risotto, etc, friendly & lively atmosphere, lots of regulars at the bar (always a good sign), accomodating for a large group (we had ~15 people)
Cons: gets crowded when some large group takes like 15 spots in the middle of the restaurant.
I'm not in Folsom much, but I think I need to go back for more. Â I need a potent Mc Chouffe to drink, more perfectly-battered-and-drizzled-with-stout onion rings, and if those ribs are half as good as they look...
It pains me to give this place less than four stars. Â Eeeeehhhh.
I've been here a couple times now. Â The first time I ate at this establishment, it took place on a Sunday afternoon. Â The place wasn't busy...was seated right away, service was wonderful...everything went swimmingly. Â The second time I ate here was a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday. Â For whatever reason, we couldn't make a reservation and our party ended up waiting 45min-1hr. Â Unacceptable. Â We waited because the birthday boy had his heart set on the place and who am I to crush his dreams. Â The reason I wasn't thrilled about the place was because the restaurant is very small...VERY SMALL!!! Â I would say it is about the size of a small studio apt...what, 600-700 SQ FT? Â I think it goes without saying...but they need to upgrade their space. Â
Food: Â The food is great! Â I'm a fan of their bruschetta. Â I just need to remember to ask them to leave the bacon out (because it is not published in their menu description). Â Great portions on their food for the price. Â When I was here for my friend's birthday dinner, I had ordered their salmon special. Â I wasn't a fan of this dish. Â This is going to sound really strange...but the fish had a really fishy taste/smell to it. Â I hope that makes sense. Â I was pretty saddened. Â
Service: Â The service both times has been top notch. Â I've had the same waitress both times and she is a joy. Â Very attentive. Â
Will I go back again? Â Sure...
