Bustling place on a Friday night. Â Located in a gorgeous complex just off Dry Creek on I25. Â I would've never driven past it had it not been for Yelp. Â I wanted to try this location in particular because of the nutella nuggets, which were a slight disappointment. Â The nutella was amazing (as nutella always is), but the dough they used was pretty tasteless. Â I probably would've just preferred a jar of nutella and a spoon to be honest.
Pizza was yummy. Â No complaints. Â However, the place was NOOOOISSSYYY. Â It didn't help that there was a party of about 12 sitting right next to us howling at someone who thought he was way funnier than he probably was. Â I wish they'd seat the larger parties somewhere a bit more secluded near the back? Â All in all, not disappointed. Â Will likely be back someday.
We were greated with a warm hello! And saw the rest of our party sitting down at a groovy oval-esque booth. Natural exposed beems were the first thing I noticed along with the exposed brick from the orginal space. As a gal that used to live on Larimer in an old building, I liked this touch right away.
Rachel was our server and she did everything spot on - didn't have to ask for water, cleaned the table between courses and brought clean plates and fresh silverware everytime. We even sampled a few beers from their great list. (Dechutes is my fav)
Mark is a happy and fun guy who also knows what the hell he is doing. Ask him about the flour and you will definately learn something. I so respect his passion and professionalism and love for perfect ingredients.
I have had their sliders, lemoncello chicken wings and Del Ray pizza before. Today we tried the Toscana and the Hells Kitchen - both were just perfection. The Toscana is basically a brilliantly perfect margharita pizza, that is topped with thinly sliced proscuitto, cheese, sweet little cherry tomatoes and fresh baby arugula. Bliss, heaven, yum.
The kids we broght along were entertained by kneeding their own dough and creating shapes that were then baked off and returned to them.
I can't say enough good about this spot - give them and try and then tell a friend.
I don't get how they can use all these cool toppings on their pizza have so little flavor. Wait, I do. It's the sauce. Or the lack thereof. And probably the lack of seasoning in the sauce. We all felt the pizzas we had were bland. Also at our table I felt the crust either needed to be thicker or more crispy, preferably the latter. Weird for a "coal fired" pizza. The rest of the people at our table were cool w/ the crust.
The ambiance is great, the pizza not so much. And BTW, 1 pie will feed 2 adults.
Love love love this place. Everything from the pizza down to ice tea. Ordered Arosto salad. Super yummy roasted vegetable salad. Followed by the wings. They are good but I kinda want them a tad spicier. Then the main dish is the pizza! The dough is great. Crusty yet doughy at the same time. You can pretty much put anything on there and it would be good! And the iced tea was soooo good! I have never had iced tea so fragrant. I know it is not a deal maker or breaker for most people but for me it was memorable and I will definitely order it again and again when we go back again and again! What a gem in the burb!!!!
Review Source:The husband and I tried Marco's for the first time on Friday night. Â Got there on the early side and got seated right away. Loved the design of the restaurant and the music too. Â
We were greeted by our server who was very attentive. Â He gave us the rundown on the pizza types. Â I started with the Misto salad which was amazing!! We shared the Brooklyn pizza which was delicious. The pizza is wood fired cooked and the crust was tasty!
My lemon drop martini was meh-which makes this a 4 star experience.
Overall, delicious and we will be back!
Once again I've been let down in Denver's choices of Pizza restaurant. Â Â So I was attracted to the name "Marco's Coal Fired Pizza". I lived the past 2 years in Connecticut where coal fired pizza has been the rage since about 1932 (Franke Peppe, Sally apizza, etc)
1 - the places name is BLATANT false advertising. Â From what I read there are items coal fired, but not the pizza. Â
2 - this is harmful advertising to the largest extent of the word. Coal Fired pizza places have these wonderfully hot ovens (hotter than wood). . .i'm talking 900 degrees are more. Â The pizza at Frank Peppe's is always good, always crispy, always delicious.
So we go to Coal Fired pizza. Â The crust was akin to the stuff you buy from the frozen pizza aisle. Seriously - Papa Murphys crisps up better than this stuff
Our pizza was very salty tasting. Â Not a good sign (salt is often added to allow toppings to stay out longer without refrigeration)
So no - I won't be back. Â There are a lot of better options here. . .especially options where the very name isn't built on false advertising/lies.
marco's coal fired pizza - i don't understand the name, since it smells like burning wood and not coal, but the pizza is AWESOME! Â love the crust and the pizza that their super hot oven produces (which is officially certified by some eye-talian pizza expertisos)
the tuscano & the abruzzo are my favorites. Â and don't forget the nutella dessert pizza -
mmmmm mmmmm buon appetito!
Really, really, really good pizza. Here on business and the Yelp! community lead me in the right direction. Ordered a custom 9" pie and didn't expect to finish it. I like some pizza and a beer every so often but I generally only like a couple of slices. Â I cleaned my plate here.
Good beer selection (Shiner bock!) and TVs in the small bar to watch the Olympics. Nothing to complain about at all and I will visit again on my next trip.
Dear Marco's,
Just so that we're on the same page, my 3 year old will not be the one making the decision as to whether or not we will be returning to your restaurant. I appreciate that your manager came by our table twice to ask him how his pizza was, but it was annoying that she would only talk to him and ignored me - particularly since my 3 year old has no idea that coal fired pizza shouldn't come out soggy, and dripping with water. I liked the Moscow Mule, but $30 for two small slices and a drink, while the rest of the pizza was sent back to be thrown out, means we won't be visiting your restaurant again.
Thanks for nothing!

Have you heard about the Pistacchio pizza? Italian sweet salami, pistachio cream.... Here's a pizza with a fragrant smell, a touch of sweetness, a touch of nuttiness, and some green for your green. Marco's continues to kick butt and I was pleased to savor their concoctions at this location. What a treat!
Review Source:My family and I are up from Colorado Springs evacuated from our home from the fires. We stumbled upon Marcos and it was like we forgot we were in the middle of a disaster for 2 hours. The service was excellent and attentive, the food was great (best pizza I have had-try the Brooklyn) and the catered to our 3 kids so they were entertained and we could focus on decompressing a little with a beer and a glass of wine. Lastly- Marco himself brought the kids a complimentary desert to top off the night. Thanks to all there!
PS. The next day we got an e-mail from Marco letting us know that we were in their thoughts and to come in and enjoy another dinner on them- that there was a $100 GC in the drawer for us...how rare is that? Will never forget it.
We were in town for the Junior Dragster Races at Bandimere. A group of us were hungry for pizza and stumbled across Marcos on the Internet. The area and restaurant itself was awesome. However, our waitress needed some help with customer service. She was not one to joke around. Definitely don't ask why they don't serve Coors. She isn't interested in telling you. We had small children with us so we ordered 2 pizzas to share among 4 of us. Our waitress advised against it as they were actually one person pizzas. So we ordered another one. The pizzas had 6 pieces each, we definitely could have shared. We left with one and a half pizzas and a $75 bill. Not some place I would recommend unless your their for the atmosphere.
Review Source:Wow! Marco's is amazing!! Ice cold Mirror Pond and imaginative pizzas, combined to make this a dining experience to remember. We started with the antipasto and it was fantastic. The cheeses and meats were all top notch and the garlic cloves were wonderful. The droplets of balsamic reduction around the edges of the plate were the proverbial icing on the cake.
We had a group of 10 people and we shared 6 pizzas. Despite being stuffed, we finished every last piece.
The service was excellent. Our waters, beers, wines, soft drinks and bellies were never left empty, during the entire visit.
Marco's is a bit spendy, but the the fresh, high-quality, ingredients... and wonderful concept... and perfect execution, make it worth the price tag.
I was thoroughly impressed with this place on every level.
I came to this place with a friend that lived  in Italy.  We've seen Marco's downtown and always wanted to pay a visit but unfortunately never got a chance.  To our pleasant surprise we found this location on Yelp looking for a new pizza place to try. Â
As we walked in the door we immediately noticed the full bar and the "posh" interior. Â This didn't really instill us with confidence about the quality of the pizza (just didn't have that excellent Pizza place feel) though the impressive ovens in the kitchen did look promising. Â The wait staff must've been on break because the bartender came out to greet us and get our drinks. Â They were out of most taps (apparently because Russo's closed down next door) and their selection is fairly limited (though it had some good choices). Â After bringing our drinks the bartender asked as if we've ever been to Marco's and since we have not, she explained what they were all about and went through some of the menu. Â She was extremely friendly and helpful.
When the pizza finally arrived all our doubts were instantly disintegrated! Â According to my friend, this pizza is the closest thing to real Italian pizza in Denver! Â The ingredients, the crust, the sauce... everything is spot on and extremely delicious. Â My mouth is watering just thinking about it :D Â All pies are 12" thin crust so be careful not to get too many toppings or it won't crisp up as nice. Â
The only drawback here is the price. Â This pizza does not come cheap... the 12" pie was sufficient for 2 adults but we were definitely not "stuffed". Â However, if you're looking for real Italian pizza with quality ingredients, definitely check this place out!
P.S. Â For those with a sweeter tooth :) The Nutella pizza is very tasty! Â The Tiramisu on the other hand is fairly unremarkable.
$5 dollar Margherita Pizza for Happy Hour... Nuff SAID! I ate that whole darn pizza too! HOWEVER, make sure your clear on the BOGO glass of wine. I had a lil bit of an issue when i was told this offer. I shared my BOGO with my friend and they faltered in telling me i couldnt... I thought that it was pretty cheap of them not to allow such a thing. Its HAPPY Hour ... not Im gonna make this "hour" experience as UN HAPPY and expensive as possible.
I wish i could afford to eat the rest of the menu... but to be quite honest its pretty Pricey.. I dont really care what area your in... even rich people are chaep.. How do you think they got rich. ; )
I probably wont come back any time soon. I can eat better pizza for a cheaper price and a more creative experience.
The pizza is really good but portions are small and expensive. I wish they had a kids menu. 16 bucks for a pepperoni pizza... that's pretty steep for kids. for 2 adult 2 kids, 2 pizzas weren't enough. we were still hungry but the bill was already 40 bucks.
We probably won't be back again, even though the pizzas were good. The menu was not kid/price friendly for us.
I`ll start with the wings....best in the city. Love the dry wing, as opposed to the messy buffalo type. These are melt in your mouth good. They used to have them for Happy Hour at a great price, but stopped offering them for HH. I was very disappointed, and haven`t been back since. Recently, I heard they were going to put them back on, and if they do, this place will be 5 stars for me.
Didn`t even mention the pizza, yet.....fantastic! They`ve got a mushroom one with truffle oil that is off the charts good. It`s rich and a little over-whelming for some, but if you like truffle oil, you gotta give it a shot.
Back to Marco's Coal Fired Pizza again, but at the Greenwood Village location. It's obviously a newer establishment, among a series of new apartment developments. Not as busy as the downtown location, but more spacious; we're here for the brunch, whose menu include several pizzas with cracked eggs on top.
The waiter recommended the Chelsea Pizza but I was more into the Lombardia Pizza, seeing one of the ingredients included asparagus.
We also tried the Lemoncello wings, served with onions and flat breads. I like Marco's because after eating there, you won't feel bloated. Their ingredients all taste fresh, flavor is never too strong but definitely savory. Â
Service was average, didn't compare to the downtown location (we got a free Nutella pizza for being first time customers at the downtown location, for crying out loud! At this location, it was going in, order, eat, then leave. Not that the people were rude or anything, they were fast at serving the things, but you just don't feel the welcome and warmth like you do at the downtown location).
Went to your Englewood branch on a Saturday night a few weeks ago and won't be doing that again! Really bad vibe and terrible service!
It was the evening of a Broncos game and we were the ONLY table in the restaurant the entire time. When we told the waitress we were celebrating 3 birthdays, she told us we could only celebrate 2!!
Then just after 10pm, she told us we had to leave because they were going to turn the lights off! The staff watching the game at the bar seemed pretty comfortable, but we had to go.
Plus the mojitos were really inconsistent and had to be remade. The waitress, who was constantly chewing something, seemed very put out about that too.
No thanks! We'll be back to your downtown branch but not this one.
I am obsessed with coal and/or wood fired pizza, and Marco's has some of the best I have ever tasted!! Â The crust is just perfectly lightly charred which I love. Â The toppings are of the best quality and their sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes. Â I've had 4 different pizzas so far, all outstanding. Â
Since they have added the Ceasar salad to their menu I order it every time. It is lemony garlicky perfection...and I like to kid myself that starting my carb laden meal with a salad means I am eating healthy. Â
I also highly recommend the Limoncello wings. Â And as a Bloody Mary snob I have to say that theirs gets a gold star. Â
The staff is super friendly. Â Location is a little odd as it is in one of those trendy new "mixed use" spaces (the kind with condo's above and shops below) but who cares because just thinking about their pizza makes me drool a little bit.
Yummy!! After our trip to New York I've been craving Margherita pizza. I haven't been able to find a local place that matched up to the tastes of New York until now. The crust is super thin, the mozzarella is fresh and the basil is fragrant. The only thing that was just ok was the tomato sauce not quite to the caliber of my favorite place in NY but I will definitely be coming back for this pizza.
I also had a bloody Mary which was on a $3special since it was Saturday. It was my kind of Mary spicy and delicious. The glass was a bit smaller than what I was expecting but still really good.
The building is very pretty and the decor is lovely; very upscale style, dark wood with glass tile accents. Only downfall was the staff seemed a bit stressed out. Not sure if they were recovering from a large lunch rush or what. The service was just ok.
Yum! Â I wasn't a big fan of wood-fired pizza before I came here.
Their coal fired lemoncello chicken wings are delish and the Arrosto salad with the coal-fired vegetables is amazing. Â Simply put, anything that comes out of that oven is pretty dang good.
My personal favorite pizza is the Brooklyn - love that pepperoni. Â I've had a chance to sample the Staten Island and Margheria too but they weren't quite to my taste.
Don't think you'll go wrong coming here!
Wonderful service at the bar tonight. A well prepared dirty Chopin martini. Â The limoncello chicken wings are a nice alternative to the traditional Buffalo wings. Â These marinate in homemade (vodka based) limoncello for two days and then baked with herbs and onion--delicious. Â The pizza I ordered (Brooklyn) was good although I was expecting a New York style pie but the crust was not as crispy as you'd find at a coal-fired pizzeria in the Big Apple. Â That said, the ingredients are top notch. I believe they use the finest semolina flour. Â Toppings rocked. Â Oh by the way I returned last night to try the meatball sliders and more wings
Sliders are divine-pork, beef and prosciuto. Â Damn good meatballs.
As promised, I promptly returned for happy hour yesterday. Hubs and I sat at the bar and made some new friends over drinks and tasty treats.
Fab happy hour- we tried everything. That's right- everything. We're not afraid. I started with a mojito which was pretty good- though still does not top Old Blinking Light's. (I know!) First up were the wings. Definitely not your garden variety of wings. Our bartender suggested putting them in the refrigerator and eating them later because they're even better cold but they smelled too delicious for such delayed gratification. The wings have a great spice on them and are served with delicious bread. Still a bit oily for me but definitely awesome flavor.
The lady sitting next to us said she knew of a place in AZ that topped their mojitos with champagne instead of club soda. Hmmm...so Bartender Jason whipped that up for me next. Packs a punch. Tasty!
Our next order of food business were the meatball sliders and the Calabria pizza. Sliders= delicious. Loved these. Could have had more. The meat is so tender and the bread is awesome and it comes with a side of sauce! This came in really handy for the pizza because the calabria is sauceless. It was good but the least favorite thing I had. Of course this is a personal preference.
By now I have switched to red wine because I have to have wine with my pizza. Bartender is still so good to me! I start talking to our bar neighbor about bloody mary's because we're both huge fans and how I am highly judgmental about them. So Bartender whips up a bloody mary and splits it between the 2 of us. Wow- SO GOOD. Apparently they're only $3 for brunch on Sundays! I was quite impressed. Nice and spicy. And part of the ingredient list is Murphy's Stout. Yeah- who knew?
We finished off with the margherita pizza. Oh how I love thee. Marco's has the perfect crust and sauce. Truly delicious. This is my new go-to place for pizza because I do not think it's possible for them to disappoint me.
After swooning over the wings and pizza at their downtown location, I was happy to hear they opened up a spot a little closer to home. Turns out it's in my parent's frequent Happy Hour rotation and they invited me to join them to try for myself. We arrived about 15 minutes before the deals ended at 6 but our waiter didn't mind rushing our order in before the cut-off time.
We all got drinks along with the meatball sliders, aforementioned wings and Margherita pizza. My Prosecco-pear mojito was delicious and not too sweet like mojitos can sometime be. As for the food? I could eat their soft coal-fired pizza dough alone and be happy but the fresh basil and mozzarella were delicious compliments. The wings were as flavorful as I remember and the meatballs my dad raved about did not disappoint. They came with a bowl of marinara sauce on the side and, as a tomato sauce lover, I was initially excited but this batch could have used an extra kick and tasted more like Ragu than what I feel like the restaurant is capable of.
All in all, I was impressed not only by our service but with how quickly the food came flying out of the kitchen. No doubt I'll have to add this to my own personal happy hour lineup.
Wood fire pizza is simply wonderful! Â Stopped in for lunch on the recommendation from a co-worker and was not disappointed. Â Wife got a salad with cooked veggies, and she raved about it.
This place is new, so I expected the typical hiccups, but none were to be found. Â The staff is very friendly, and very very knowledgeable. Â The owner obviously cares enough to train the staff to be able to explain things to everyone. From how the stoves cook the pizza to the imported ingredients. This is a small but important detail.
The place is clean, modern and comfortable. Â TVs at the bar and in the back room were showing the PGA championship and a couple MLB games. Â
On a side not, check out the cool sinks in the bathroom.
We had been going to Marco's LoDo location for several years, and are thrilled that they now have a second location in "midtown" (Vallagio).
Since our last review, we have not strayed from the Pizza Del Re. However, instead ordering two of them and taking home the leftovers as we had been doing, we've now gone down to one Del Re and swapped in the meatball sliders, which use some of the most tender, flavorful meatballs and sauce we've ever tasted. Give them a try for sure.
Tried Marco's tonight on the recommendation of a friend and was very happy I did! A small group of us went (4) and a drink each and shared an appetizer of wings, 2 pizzas, and a desert and ended up around $22 each (with tip). Â
First off, a very nice and clean place with a cool vibe. Not a "super cool" place, but rather a place that is just comfortable to hang out and enjoy a great meal. Second, the wait staff was ON IT. Very knowledgeable about the menu and drink selections. Very polite and friendly, as well. We were checked on just enough to make sure we were taken care of and not so much that we were smothered in attention...was nice.
So, the food! Well...
The wings...well to call them wings does them a disservice! Coal-Fired Lemoncello Chicken Wings are probably the best wings I have ever had. I am not a huge wings fans (I secretly wanted the delicious looking antipasto plate I saw on another table), as I was expecting deep fried, battered wings covered in tangy sauce. Wow, was I wrong! (and happily so!). These wings were delicious!!! Served with grilled onions and Focaccia bread it was a perfect start to the meal and pared very well with the great Italian beer that was on tap.
We ordered two pizzas, a Pizza Napoletana and a New York Pie. For the Napoletana, we had the Abruzzo. It was: Bufala Mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, Gran Cru, Caciocavallo, Fresh Basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil for $17. Incredible pizza and when a bit of balsamic vinegar was added...wow! The New York Pie was the Staten Island. It was: Sweet Italian Sausage, Roasted Peppers, Roasted Vidalia Onions, Fresh Mozzarella and San Marzano Tomato Sauce at $15. More of what I expected as an "American" style pizza and also wonderful.
Dessert was a tough choice between a Nutella Pizza or the Dolce Pizza. Since we were having trouble deciding, the waitress asked if she could just surprise us (we said yes) and we ended up with the Dolce. A lightly fried pizza dough with sweetened ricotta cheese, honey and almonds. AWESOME!
We went home happy and with a carryout box of a bit of everything!
Try the lunch special: $9 for personal margherita pizza, house salad, and a drink. You really can't beat that, considering most of the pizzas are normally around 15$.
The service was spot on (especially since we had such a big group for a coworker's goodbye lunch), and the food delicious. Â I loved the crust and the sauce on the pizza - although I could've used more basil, because I love that stuff.
Definitely a better pizza joint around DTC - more so than Lil' Ricci's.
We went to Marco's on the recommendation of our daughter.  We were very pleased.  The three of us ordered a couple of different salads and a basic pizza to share.  There was plenty of food and  it was all very good....including an excellent red wine.  We had excellent service and some amazing Americanos with our desert.
Excellent meal and service.
For a work birthday outing, we headed down to Marco's for something a little bit different. I did make the right choice. The pizza is delicious! We had one of each flavor and all were covered in fresh, tasty ingredients. The crust is chewy and gave my stomach a big fat love hug. For my birthday, they also delivered free dessert to the entire table. Nice touch.
There are gluten-free options at Marco's, so if you swing that way, you will be welcomed with open arms.
The local pizza joint near my work has been found. Marco's - you are my pizza soul mate.
Impressed. Â Food, service, ambiance... They've nailed it at Marco's.
We went to Marco's from the recommendation of our hotel front desk, and certainly weren't disappointed. Â They clearly have a passion for what they're doing; the servers were able to describe the different flavor profiles and consistencies of the cheeses they use on their various pizzas! Â The ingredients are extremely fresh, the crust is crispy and chewy, all that you want in a pizza.
Prices are a tad high ($17 for a 12" pizza to share?), but you'll get over it.
And don't forget to end your dinner with a couple mini cannoli!
I absolutely love their crust - chewy, charred & delicious! Â
This one off Dry Creek is great for us DTC working suburbanites! Â It has a nice bar (which was filled the day we went in) and great lunch specials. Plus since it is in the burbs it is easy to park and its a bit bigger than the one downtown. Â
My only complaint was that we went for a late lunch and there seemed to be one person working the floor. Â So service was slow. Â They didn't even bring our pizza's out at the same time (I mean like 10m apart!), which I found incredibly weird. Â We got a sorry, but still, really???
The food was good and I am guessing the service was a fluke (3p on a Tuesday) so I will go back! Â However, they lose a star!
