My friend and I went there after work on a saturday night. Lisa was the bartender , she was very friendly ... we met her parents , also very nice people. Just want to say thank you to Lisa for being very prompt on service , she brought us about 25 shots of Patrone & Pineapple , beers ..... everytime with a smile !!!
Review Source:We stopped by far a late Sunday night dinner as dining choices in Vallejo are fairly limited. I tried the Buffalo Popcorn Chicken; the idea is good but the execution was poor. They tasted like microwaved frozen food and before I was halfway through the basket, they were cold. UGH! Terri fared better with French Dip, it was pedestrian but serviceable and the accompanying fries were decent. I tried the Mark's Chili and it was not very interesting but it was hot so that was a plus.
This is the kind of place to come drink beer and play pool. Not really a place for food.
Came here before a midnight showing. Obviously not young enough to wait in the long lines before the doors open so I came here with a friend to get my nicotine and alcohol fix before the movie premiered. The beers were cheap and there was a outdoor patio where I could smoke, basically all I ever want from a bar.
Review Source:Mark's is a nice place to chill and have a cold one. Bartender Morgan is the best asset to this place.
Has 2 pool tables a buck a game, they are kinda cheap quality, Sound system is pretty good, has juke box
Missing something , can't put my finger on it.....go here have a beer and tell me.......
Meh... I'm not a real "bar" person. But we had a Groupon for Mark's, and decided to give it a try.
The place has your basic sports-bar ambiance: your basic bar surrounded by a tall bar tables (of which the two we tried were really tippy) and couple of pool tables, plus an assortment of TVs all over the walls, sporting, of course, various sporting events. At the risk of sounding picky, the TVs are kind of small compared to the other few sports bar places I've tried, but since I am no longer in a relationship where I needed to act like I give a rat's petooty about baseball, I don't really pay attention to those. There's also a patio area that is probably a lot more pleasant when it's below 90 degrees outside and more shade, and also when there isn't heavy rush-hour traffic whizzing (or creeping) by on the freeway, which is about 50 yards away.
So we seated ourselves at a table away from the pool tables, yet far enough from the TVs that we could feign interest. The first table we tried was too wobbly (no crime there, I guess that's pretty common), and our second choice wasn't as wobbly, so it was bearable. Both tables, however, were sticky. We sat for a little while, taking in the atmosphere, and eventually asked at the bar for a menu. The menu is sparse, offering basic bar fare of burgers, sandwiches, wings, and a few token salads - all totaled, less than a dozen appetizers, and maybe as many entrees (if sandwiches can be called entrees). I opted for the Philly cheesesteak (since the Phillies were indeed playing on the TV above us), and Gary had the French dip, both of us choosing fries as our side. Potato salad was an option, but to be honest, I'm really picky about potato salad and had a feeling that potato salad here was most likely a prefab concoction that came packaged in a large tub or bucket.
Our orders were... okay. The French rolls were nicely toasted, and the beef wasn't too fatty, and pretty fair quality, but the peppers and onions on my cheesesteak were minimal at best. The fries were your basic, processed, frozen type, with ample seasoning salt to dress them up, and cooked to a nice degree of crispness (I hate being served limp, greasy, half-cooked fries). At the risk of sounding picky again, the ketchup - which was from a bottle that sat in residence on our table - kind of made me nervous. It looked like it had been watered down, and perhaps was not what I would describe as fresh. Not as bad as the worse ketchup I have ever seen at a restaurant, which sat on an outdoor table so long that it was actually fizzing from fermentation, but this ketchup actually made me think of that one, though. I left hoping that my heartburn was just from the peppers - which tend to do that to me, so I don't know why I order them in the first place - and I guess that was what did it, because I was fine in an hour or so.
I guess Mark's is your basic neighborhood bar hangout. Gary and I such newbs when it comes to bars that the most entertaining part of the experience was seeing my first "bar floozie" and watching her at work. When we left, she was ordering another round shooters with an enthusiastic, somewhat-older patron. We left satiated, and had fun discussing the free "dinner show."
Stopped in to see a game and have a beer - met a few locals, shared some laughs, had a decent time. While there werent more than 10 people in the place at any one time (could be a Monday night thing!), the waitress made folks feel comfortable. The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was very good - just missing the overloaded amount of melted cheese you find in Philly.
Its worth going back and checking out on another night to see how hopping it is.
Mark's is a great neighborhood sports bar. Â It is never overly crowded and not the hippest place in town to be, but is a great spot to grab a beer or catch a game. Â
I have not tried the food here so I cannot speak for it, but it is the typical sports bar fare of burgers, chicken wings, fried foods and the like.
