McCann's is the ONLY sports bar that I go to. Â They have tons of seating and TVs (love the couches with coffee tables), a long bar, and pool tables. The drink prices are super fair and I love the bartenders. Â
WAY better than average bar food- love their wings, the Irish Nachos are amazing.. fresh potato chips cut thin and fried super crisp topped with homemade chili and cheese... give them a try!
The place looks nice and great. Lots of seating-ish. Lounge/couch areas, table seating, bar/counter seating, a pool room, outdoor seating. Lots and lots of TV.
The low-down:
+1 lots of seating
+1 lots of flatscreen TVs
-1 tvs are NOT showing in HD
+1 lots of channels
-1 the wings are not spicy for buffalo wings
-1 cocktails are not awesome or even really that good (don't order a mojito)
We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and always checking if we needed drinks. Â The bar area has tons of TVs and a fair amount of seats. Â Also, this is one of the few places I've found that doesn't have skunked Newcastle on tap.
Overall good sports bar with decent prices and a decent crowd. Â Definitely a place I'd go back to.
Give me my waffle fries and all is goooood.
I have a love-hate relationship with McCann's.
Love: Aforementioned waffle fries.
Hate: The spotty waitstaff; whether it be the waitress who gave me the stink-eye and hit on my bf the whole night, or the ditzy ones who disappear for so long that you end up walking to the bar to retrieve another round of beers.
Love: the great bartenders who don't judge me when drunk me screwed up my tab receipt so badly they printed up another one, no questions asked (or raised eyebrows, to boot).
Hate: The sunday afternoon d-bags who ruin any game that's on by cheering at whatever numbers come up
Love: Their chocolate martinis. Keep em coming. Needless to say, I've attributed many black-outs to McCann's. I WOULD be that girl drinking a chocolate martini in a sports bar though. Â
All in all, it's a decent place to catch the game, get drunk, and get into a food coma. I'll always be back, Those fries are no joke.
McCann's was my GO TO place last Rangers season for games. A friend turned me on to this place when I wanted to be uninterrupted and be able to get a good seat for maximum viewing. The staff was always super accommodating when we asked them to turn up the volume and switch TV screens for the games.
The food is excellent! When you're in the mood for bar food, the fatty yummy kind thats totally worth the calories, head HERE! I usually save my cheat day for when I go to McCanns. I'm not a HUGE wing fan, but I love their wings!! Have also had their nachos, jalapeno poppers, boneless buffalo bites (which are awesome) and the steak tips which are really delicious, served with cheezy garlic bread. Oh my! Â Yeah, you can diet on another day.
The drinks are pretty good as I usually order a margarita on the rocks or a martini from their menu. The only downside is the service sometimes. When they get busy, you should prepare to wait a bit for a waitress. That's been my only issue so far in my 10 or so visits.
4 of us went last night for drinks and food. We were seated for 20 minutes without seeing a server, and the place was nowhere near from being packed. When one finally came, she said she wasn't our server but would take our drink orders. She then came back 10 minutes later without our drinks, saying that they didn't have one of the beers. When we asked for the server again, she told us to "just wait a minute." A couple then sat down beside us and got served right away by the lady who took our drinks. We were there for almost 45 minutes with no food or drinks. When we got up to leave I heard one of the servers say, "are they seriously leaving" in a not so nice tone. Worst service we've ever experienced and we have no plans to go back.
Review Source:Been going to McCann's for awhile now and I have to say the food is alot better then most Pub's. You can get delicious wings (try the suicide sauce if you like em HOT) or something a bit more upscale like Braised Short Ribs. I myself love the Teriyaki Wings, Warm Goat Cheese Crustini, Tuna Tar Tar and the short rib quesadilla. The wait staff are very friendly and quick. They have a good selection of  beer and specialty drinks. Great place to watch UFC.
Review Source:Cozy fun place to come for a bite to eat and some drinks. My boyfriend & I came here on a Sunday for a late afternoon hockey game. We sat on one of the couches, and just relaxed for a few hours.
The food is surprisingly very good, and reasonable. I love that you can switch out fries for a garden salad. Service is quick, and accommodating. Drinks are cheap too.
By far my favorite spot on Long Island.
Great drinks at good prices, especially on Wednesday nights when ladies drinks are half price. I've heard good things about the food, but all I can say are that their wings are awesome. The wait staff is attentive and always friendly. The music is good, always nice to watch a game there, and its not a place where you see a lot of Long Island Guidos, which is always a plus.
This place is consistently excellent. The food is gourmet quality at normal prices. The menu is exciting with many creative but appealing items and nothing overpriced. The drink prices and specials are always a great deal and a great variety. The staff are so attentive that I always feel like a VIP when I visit. The decor is a perfect mix of classy and comfortable without being trendy and there is a great mix of different types of comfy spaces to hang out, so it never feels too crowded or closed in, except perhaps by the bar, where it always seems to be busy. For sports fans, they have tons of HD TV's on the walls and behind the bar. The jukebox is a lot of fun as it lets you pick from a wide variety of songs to play. McCann's  is consistently a high level experience every time I go. Lots of fun. Very nice, down to Earth people seem to hang out there a lot. It's a great come as you are type scene. Great place to make new friends or meet up with old friends.
Review Source:I was in this place for approximately 15 seconds before I got hit on.
(thats a pro)
I was waiting for someone so I couldn't jump on the opportunity to make new friends
(con or pro, I guess it depends on how you look at it)
Anywayzzzzz this place is dope. Â Its a lot larger than it looks, actually, and I like how there are a couple different areas to sit in - there's a giant wall of TVs that were playing all sorts of different sports INCLUDING METS classics from 9/11/01 when Pizza hit a BOMB and beat the braves and JETS talk. Â You have your choice of stools, the bar, tables, couches,
diggin it
we apparently went on Ladies Half Priced drinks so my boy didn't have much of a tab to pick up (there are gentlemen left in the world ladies, they even open the door for you) even though we got two orders of wings and enough beers to fill at least one and a half hands of fingers.
Note: don't come here with a personal trainer if you want to pig out, they eat their wings slow and its embarassing to be 8 wings ahead of your friend. Â With sauce all over your face. Â And they expect you to use napkins. Â Allegedly the avocado burger is money (I believe the quote was "The Guac is OUT of this WORLD" high praise if you ask me, so I can't vouch for it till I try it)
I'll be back, count on it. Â Maybe even sunday.
Been here a bunch of times. Â Each time I go, it seems (somehow) to get worse and worse. Â Last time I visited (maybe final time) the service was terrible. Â First waitress came over. Â I asked if they had drink specials (Saturday afternoon during College football). Â She disappears to find out if they do. Â She is gone for a while, then another waitress comes by. Â She says "hi how are you? Â Can I help you?" Â I just looked with amazement. Â I said the other waitress was going to check for drink specials, do you have any? Â And she replies with such blahness "no". Â Just no???! Â The food was so boring tasting and the so called 20oz beer seemed like the 16oz. Â
Then I went to the bar with chips I had received from the bar sometime back, for free drinks. Â Bartender said she cant accept them any longer. Â I asked for her to ask the manager, plus we just had dinner and drinks at table. Â The manager said no...then why give them out?!! Â If you plan on not accepting them anymore, but expiration dates on them.
Depending on what you are looking for this might be a good choice, or the worst choice. If you are looking for a place to drink and watch sports, I would probably give it 4 stars.
However, it claims to be a grill; it is not. Do NOT EAT here. Being that I was on Long Island I thought "why not try the Fish N' Chips?" Since, I live in a landlocked state, I had maybe high expectations, since in Denver (where I live) has exceptional fish n' chips at many different places. Unfortunately, these were the worst ones I have ever had, I literally had to stop eating it. The steak fries were good and the service was good too, which bumped it up to 2 stars. Â My coworker ordered the shrimp bisque soup and the short ribs. He said the soup didn't taste like anything and the sauce on the ribs was no good.
If you do eat here, try to lower your expectations.
I've been here a couple of time and I usually feel "meh". Apparently that's only 2 stars though and I think it's worth at least 3.
The food isn't that good. Some of their beers on tap go flat too because of slow turnover. Seating is ... well it's seating. They do have a lot of televisions though and some pool tables in the back.
I'm sure I'll go here a few more times as it's only a few blocks from my place, but as I'm new to the area, I hope to find something better soon.
this place is not hidden away, but so many people drive right by it.
if you're nearby, looking for a drink, or even food. go here. Â both are good. Â they dont have the largest selection of beer, but its always cold, the help is great, and the atmosphere is great. Â the food is surprisingly good too, even if you eat at the bar.
i used to go every weds to play darts with a few friends. worth trying.
As far as LI bars go this one is pretty fantastic. Definitely a spot to check out. if your around and awesome for watching sports! The back wall of the bar/restaurant is lined with TVs and they play every sporting event. There's outside seating in an enclosed area in front, HUGE comfy leather couches inside and a ton of tables with bar stool seating.
The service has always been good and the food is so much more than a normal sports bar. Â Lots of beer choices and a pretty extensive menu with choices ranging from the normal bar wings and mozzarella sticks to empanadas and beer baked BBQ ribs. MCCANN'S WRAP IS A MUST HAVE. The guacamole is surprisingly Delicious.

For a Pub to get FOUR stars, they must be doing something right. Â First of all the Steak Quesadilla puts most mexican places to shame, and the place just irradiates "Eat, Drink, and Be Merry"! Â
Bar is awesome, although a bit of a neck-jerker to watch those TV's, but service is great and Taps are good. Â More than enough room to move around, play pool, sit at a table on the outskirts of the place or just lounge in the main room. Â
Been heading here for years, and hope to continue as long as they keep their end of the bargain and maintain their composure.
Great place to watch the game, good bar grubb, full bar, seperate dining area,  and also a cute little area with couches and a coffee table in front of different tv  screens and with numerous games going on at once therefore everybody is entertained..  Great place for single ladies to meet a guy during playoffs or superbowl  LOL  ::-)
Review Source:It's all been said but bears repeating, great happy hour and tasty food. Â Two pool tables. Â Smoking area with actual seating, not that smokers should be allowed any comfort these days, but you know, it's a nice change of pace. Â Service is very good, employees are friendly.
I'm in my 30's and only feel slightly out of place late night...but in general ages are all over the place. Â Crowd can tend towards "typical Long Island" but I don't hate it. Â
Don't hate me for saying it, you know it's true.
Went to McCann's for the Friday happy hour. Â It was just as advertised with free chicken tenders, wings and Mozzarella sticks. Â The place is really nice inside. Â Great selection of TV's. Â I would definitely catch a Football game here. Â Servers and patrons were friendly. Â Good selection of cold beer. Â A little lacking in the local micro brew selection. Â Nice outside seating area.
Review Source:I joined Yelp just to write a review for this place. I went a few wks ago to watch the UFC fights. The staff was great, the food was good and the crowd was cool. I especially loved the layout. There was the standard bar area with stools,a pool table area, an area withcouch and tables for a lounge feel and the back had patio style tables and chairs and each table had its own tv. Not to mention to the place is FILLED with tv's. The staff/service was amazing! I couldn't get over how great the service was, best I've ever seen in a place like this. Even though the place was PACKED, they still provided great service, we never had to ask for anything twice.
Review Source:This place is GREAT! Here's why:
- Free cheese sticks, wings, &chicken fingers during Friday Happy Hour.
- Did I mention HH is from 4-7?
- Lotsa beer specials.
- NTN trivia is super fun.
- Can always find a seat.
- Staff is really nice.
- TONS of TVs that the really nice staff will change to whatever you want if you ask.
This place is great!
McCann's is probably my favorite sports bar on Long Island~  It's big, clean and has a great decor! There are flatscreens EVERYWHERE!!! no matter where you sit you will *always* have a view of a T.V.! The place is very spacious and there is a ton of seating- a loungy area with comfy couches, an area with high tables, a long bar area, outdoor seating etc  GREAT place to watch a game!  They have an extensive menu & the food is affordable and delicious!! Â
Added bonus- they have a room with 2 pool tables and a dartboard area! Â I love this place!!
Best bar in all of LI to view a UFC event. Â They don't charge a cover and if anything (for more popular fights when it's packed), they charge $10 as a two drink minimum. Â But their beers are all $4-5 anyway, so no money lost. Â The best is in the warmer months when they rope off part of the parking lot and everyone outside can watch on the several flat screen TV's they have on the porch area. Â When I do that, I don't even have to go inside to the bar since they have waitresses coming around taking drink orders.
They also have a great happy hour and good bar food. Â It's probably not my type of place to go on a Friday or Saturday night, but their happy hour and free UFC (and boxing) PPV events alone earn it 4 stars. Â Now I'm in Astoria, so I occasionally stop by the Astoria McCann's for a PPV (though it's WAY smaller, so not quite as good).
This is one of those good local bars to go to. Â Its not one of those typical bars through since there is a fire place with a lounge area. Â
Nice decor with a lounge, good outdoor seating fairly small bar but has fast service, decent food and good prices.
I am a huge sports fan and it seems when there is a game I want to watch they are showing it in one of their 30+ TVs.
Being one of my local haunts, this place is great.  It basically has everything you want in  a sports bar pub and grill.  Nice, clean  decor (about a bazillion flatscreens, an area with comfortable lounge seating, a pool room, darts, outdoor seating, a great staff (turnover is ridiculously low), friendly and professional doormen and security, a great menu prepared very well, clean bathrooms and a colossal drink selection.)  An absolutely perfect place to watch any sporting event.  I very much enjoy football sunday because the energy is great with people ranging in age from 7 (obviously with parents) to 70.  That's right, you can bring your grandparents down for football sunday.  You can also call ahead and reserve a table or sofa.
Although I rarely go here after 9pm anymore, friday and saturday nights are typically in the 21-30 age group and very crowded. At all other times, you can get every age. Â You could even do an informal business lunch here no problem. I've met the owner, Paul, several times and was impressed by his concern for the happiness of his clientele and employees. Â Let them call you a cab if you had too many.
Massapequa's finest.
Busy, Â crowded, noisy, and fun....everything a cool sports bar should be. If you are from the area, it may be like a reunion... people seem to flock to this place like seaguls along the ocean shore. But if you don't mind that, it's pretty chill.
Plus the abundance of TV's is a nice touch. They can have like 40 different things on  b/c they have hundreds of TVs, so you'll always have something to keep you entertained.  It's a good place to go with friends, and then pretend like your watching TV when your friend's annoying g/f starts talking.
It's usually a diverse crowd with different age groups, mostly mid 20's though, especially on weekends. Â
AND they allow hats- which is a must for balding men like myself.
Busy pub with a lot to do.
My buddies Kris and Kevin apparently use this place as their home away from home. Â We all popped in here after work one night for a few cocktails. Â We wound up playing darts and pool until the wee hours. Â I don't remember much more due to the heavy drinking crowd I was with. Â A good time was had by all.
There is an outdoor patio in front of the place, a lounge area to the right side with cocktail waitress service and the bar, pool tables and darts are to the left.
The place seemed to be more on the VERY young side but there were enough older people around so I wasn't totally uncomfortable.
Big parking but beware, lots of cops in the area looking for the drinkers who drive away.
McCann's has a lot of tvs. Â On those tvs are a lot of sports. Â Surrounding those tvs are a lot of men. Â
Single gals, I've hit the jackpot.
Aside from the fun clientele that consists of teeny boppers out for the first time as well as hardened bar scene veterans, the staff is friendly and helpful. Â
They serve your typical fried bar food into the wee hours and will heap upon you drinks galore. Â
An extra plus: juke box baby! Â
The place also has an outdoors patio area for smokers (I thought smoking was so last decade but apparently not) and people who like the outside. Â There's a pool room with two tables and a lounge area with high tables and low couches. Â
Have I mentioned the plethora of single men? Â Yes, ladies, I could be selfish and keep em all for myself, but I believe in generosity. Â Head on out and have yourself a good time.
