I don't know from food or atmosphere, but Tess the manager was extremely rude to me on the phone when I was calling for basic information and to speak with her about services an entertainment company I work for provides. She got annoyed because I was calling around "noon", and mentioned that she was prepared to yell at her assistant that apparently pulled her away from business so she could take what would have been a very brief call. One problem Tess, it was just after ELEVEN not noon...unless of course your restaurant is located in the middle of Atlantic Ocean!
Second problem. This was the THIRD time I called. Once around 3pm, once around 10am, and then I finally manage to get her on the phone around 11:10am on a Friday. I appreciate the fact that you are busy with things, but your attitude and the way you treat employees would keep me from ever coming to or recommending your restaurant to someone. What's more, it won you a poor review from me here on Yelp, something I rarely take the time to do!
Just went to McGeary's the a few nights ago for dinner as we happened to be near downtown Albany and wanted to have a nice dinner but didn't want to go to a chain restaurant and happened stop at McGeary's.
We were all pleasantly surprised. Â Our dinners including appetizer were excellent pub food made fresh and very tasty. Â Service was quick and efficient and our waitress went out of her way to make us feel welcome. When she found out it was a birthday she brought us a terrific liqueur served in chocolate cups - a very nice touch. Â Unfortunately we don't live close to Albany but we will definitely come back to McGearys for dinner.
Came here with friends for bar food and cold beer and was not dissappointed! I highly reccomend the eggplant fries. Â The sweet potato tots were just okay, but the fried mac and cheese and the nachos were delicious. Â Definitely a hipster crowd vibe was going on, since it was an open mic night and the music was awesome. Â Irish food, irish beers, Love this place. Â Went on a Wednesday night and it was crowded.
