A good but typical melting pot dining experience. It did take like 20min to get our cheese fondue, and we were like one of two tables on the entire side of the restaurant. I would return if they had a better special menu. Like Cheese fondue, salad, dessert fondue, and wine at a cheap rate, however this location has no such offers.
Review Source:We enjoyed our 13th wedding anniversary dinner at this restaurant last night. We come here for other special occasions too and the experience is always excellent.
We enjoyed a cocktail in the bar area before dinner. The bartender makes one of the best dirty vodka martinis in the city. He also suggested a new vodka, which we tried and really liked.
There are several different menu options and the wait staff is extremely knowledgeable in helping with the right selection. Not only that but they keep a close eye on their tables to ensure great service without hovering.
The food is marvelous and delightful to the palate. The sauces aren't necessary, in my view, but certainly add another flavor level to the food.
I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant and sincerely recommend it.
Went here with a group of girls from work for a Girls' Night Out. Â It was my first time here so I was pretty excited. Â Overall, the experience was good, but for the money, I'm not sure how soon I will return. Â Got to try 3 different cheese fondues (Bacon Brie--AMAZING, Cheddar --the beer in it made it pretty darn good, and the Spinach Artichoke--it was okay, but nothing spectacular). Â I did not have any of the entree options but others in the group said they enjoyed them. Â Tried 3 different dessert fondues as well (Dark Chocolate with Grand Marnier --my favorite, Turtle--okay, and White Chocolate Creme Brulee--good but EXTREMELY sweet!). Â For only cheese and chocolate fondue, my bill was $25. Â I think this is a little on the high side, but maybe that's just me. Â Don't get me wrong, I was stuffed, but I'm not sure I will go back soon...It was a lot of time and money and I didn't think it was all that impressive...except the cheesy bacony goodness part. Â But who doesn't love bacon??
Review Source:I wholeheartedly give this place 5 stars. Our experience truly was as good as a restaurant gets.
My girlfriend had been before; I had not. We opted for the special "Savor the Southside" meal: $30/person for a 3-course meal. We showed up on time for our reservation and actually sat down without a wait; how novel!
The cheddar-based cheese fondue was made right at the table. The dinner course offered a variety of meats: shrimp, chicken, Teriyaki steak, filet mignon (that you cook in boiling broth right at the table); and the dessert course was delicious, savory, and rich (we couldn't finish it).
They have lots of different options for all courses: multiple cheese fondues, various options for dinner, and even several choices for dessert.
Our server, Justin, was about as good as a server gets: personable, kind, knowledgeable, and very attentive; the kind of person that makes your night out that much better.
Our experience was so good, that I looked up their locations (several nationwide) and bought my mom a $100 gift card for her birthday right on the spot.
All in all, I'll definitely be heading back; hope to see you there!
My boyfriend took me to The Melting Pot for a romantic dinner. We had a good time, but this hasn't been a priority restaurant that we've been craving since.
The best part of the meal, by far, was the dessert. We had the yin yang chocolate fondue, which was absolutely amazing! We both decided that, for the price, the best bet at The Melting Pot is dessert. If we drop $100+ on dinner, it will be at St. Elmo or the Oceanaire instead.
When you get dinner at the Melting Pot, the meat is served raw and then you cook it at your table in the fondue pot. A Â good concept, and the waiter will give you some guidelines for how long to cook each piece of meat and vegetable. However, after a few glasses of wine or cocktails, your sense of time is a bit off... or at least mine always is! Needless to say, we ended up overestimating and underestimating some of the cooking times. I don't know about you, but eating slightly raw pork is not my idea of a fun birthday dinner, much less the "romantic" experience that the Melting Pot is always made out to be. I think that the restaurant would be really wise to invest in some fancy stopwatches for each table, so that you won't lose track of time.
We had the whole three course she-bang which included an appetizer cheese fondue, and yes, I am working backwards in this review. I absolutely LOVE almost every kind of cheese, but not Swiss. Perhaps I am strange. Almost all of their cheese fondues include some amount of Swiss cheese, which makes sense since fondues originated in Switzerland. I hoped I wouldn't taste the Swiss, but I did. Yuck! If you don't like Swiss, and think you won't notice the taste... think again. I am sure these fondues are delicious if you do enjoy the distinct flavor of Swiss cheese though.
One final comment: this restaurant is usually rated one of the most romantic restaurants in Indy. I don't get it. It's nice and all, with cozy booths and candlelight, but my boyfriend and I didn't think there was anything all that special regarding the romance factor.
Been back a few more times now for dessert, but last night took the cake!
We sat at the bar, while waiting for a romantic table for two, and Chad took exceptionally good care of us.
He made the best Mojito I have had in Indy for us after hearing how the first time we came there the Mojito's where not up to par. He even gave us a taste of their signature Ying Yang Martini, he referred to it, "as an adult milk shake."
Don't skip the Caesar Salad here, or Chad's Mojito!
