Really nice Marina location with good views.  Food is generally very good.  We've been there several times.  Although lately noticed some issues with the kitchen getting backed up - happened on two visits.  I'm talking really backed up.  Also, we love the lobster tacos, but one of my partners tacos was actually spoiled.  They didn't charge us  for it, but those kind of things shouldn't happen ever.

Used to be much better.  Still a nice venue but menu, food preparation and service at bar have gone way down hill.
Bartender acts like she's doing you a favor when she does her job....whatever.
Mediocre food presented with mediocre service.
You can do much better at several other places!

While vacationing in Ocean City, we ate dinner at Micky Fins twice. The first time, I really enjoyed my meal. The second time, not so much.

The first time we went, we ordered the crab dip with soft pretzels which was so amazing. I had the crabcake sandwich which had a decent amount of crab and was very tasty.

The second time we came, I ordered the Ahi Tuna SALAD which is listed under the SALAD menu....it says, "crunchy vegetables, thin noodles, cilantro, crushed wasabi peas"....so I assumed ok, salad with lettuce and then some veggies, tuna, thin noodles, etc. It was brought out and it was not even remotely close to a salad. It was a cold pasta dish with tuna on top. If I had known that, I would not have ordered it. I ate what I could but I really did not enjoy it at all. I do not like cold pasta. I don't think they should advertise this under the salad menu when it does not have any salad-like qualities. I was pretty disappointed. But we did order the crab dip again and that was delicious.

Ok, so I was like you, sitting in Ocean City, tired of the sub par food, by most of the crap shacks and dinosaur restaurant that litter coastal highway and decided to go on Yelp for the help.  This place seem to fit the bill, it was off the beaten path in west ocean city and was mentioned by a local as place that locals go.  Sounded like potential.

I loaded the wife and kids in the car and the six of us headed west.

I was truly looking forward to this meal and upon arrival and first look at the menu things were looking up.  The restaurant is literally right on the water surrounded by fishing boats.  The building was relatively new with appropriate architecture and the inside was a modern rustic with lots of windows and views.  We were seated at a nice table with windows and vistas on three sides.  The menu was a really nice assortment of classical regional food (crab cakes, soft shells, assortment of fresh fish) along with pub style favorites.   The hostess was pleasant and our server was attentive and available.

Queue the jaws music.....the food was lame and a HUGE Disappointment.....where do I begin???  .  I'll start with me.  My first question was where do they get their fresh fish.  I was hoping to hear that they may actually get it locally since there were probably more commercial fishing vessel within a quarter mile radius of the restaurant then anywhere on the east coast.  The response was something about Philadelphia, and then I just tuned it out. I decided, when in Rome do like the Romans, and went with the soft shell crabs.  In my mind I'm thinking classic lightly coated soft shells delicately sautéed with a little lemon and butter on toast....honnnnnkkkk(alarm sound)...wrong.  What I got was two soft shells dunked, battered and breaded then deep fried to generate a crust as deep as the ocean in a display that would make Mrs. Paul gasp.    I guess I should have asked how it was prepared, but everything to this point told me this was going to be a solid place and to go with it......Mistake...

My daughter ordered the tuna.  There was choice in preparation and sauce (wish I had that choice) and she selected to have it seared with a maple(???) sauce of some kind.  It came and it was a nice size portion of tuna, it was cooked rare but the outside of it had the color of canned tuna. It looked more poached then seared.  The sauce was not horrible, just bizarre.

My son is not a big seafood eater, so he went with a burger.   This should be a slam dunk right...honnnnnk....wrong.  He first asked, before ordering, if they would cook the burger rare, knowing that many restaurants won't serve rare burgers.  He was assured he could get in any way he liked.  He selected rare.   The waiter brings the burger out and it is the size of brown silver dollar.  I was shocked, nothing about this place said they can't even make a hamburger, but wondrously they failed at the simplest of grill staples.  I looked over after he took a bite and the inside was so well done it was practically white.  Does anyone in this place give a crap about quality????  I'm getting worked up again....calm down.

The Mrs. and other son went with another shore classic, the Maryland Crab Cake sandwich.  The sandwich had the look of a classic crab cake......from the 1970's, and it tasted about as fresh.  You know that classic recipe from the back of the old bay can, and then they add a little more bread to stretch the crab cake.  Not sure who go the extra when they stretched it with the extra bread but it didn't make it on either of these buns.    Hello Mickey.....there is a new standard for crab cakes and your nasty balls don't cut it.

Finally my youngest daughter, who is not always the most adventuring eater went, with a flat bread with shrimp and crab.   The menu said that it came with spinach, so she asked if she could get it without spinach. The nice waiter went back to ask if such request was possible.  Sadly this was far too difficult and it only came with the spinach??? The bells and whistle should have been going off on this one, but I was in a bliss brought on by the spectacular view and spending time with the family.  In hind sight, there is only one reason they couldn't serve it without spinach......it had been pre-prepared sometime before we arrived and the beginning of time...not sure when.   The flat bread was just ok, clearly not fresh, the crab meat found a great place to hide because it was not spotted during the entire meal.  My daughter is still alive thank you for asking.

So that's my story and I'm sticking with it.  I write this cautionary tale because a vacationing family only has so much discretionary income. This place will suck you in with its ambience and menu, but will rip your heart out with its poor execution.  What a shame.....

We were seated in the upstairs dining room with a direct view of the marina and Ocean City. Food was somewhat expensive but worth it. Waiter was very accommodating.

    TRY THE LOBSTER TACOS!

A friend of mine who knows I love Lobster told me to go here and try the Lobster Tacos.

Wow, they are one of the best things I've had in a while.  They Lobster was cooked perfectly and the taco had just the right balance of flavors to make it work.

I'll definitely be back for more of these.  Thanks also to my buddy who told me about how good they were.

Overall a great place for dinner. Crab cake had more filler than what I remember but a   Close second to sunset. Can't go wrong with either place!!

    Short and sweet:

Atmosphere is great! Love the "beachy/boaty" feel.
    Service is good...bartenders are friendly.
Food is typical. Crabcakes are average.

    End of story!

The locals know best - we were recommended by my friend's OC friend to have dinner at Micky Fins. It was an interesting restaurant with lots of boats dry-docked at the parking lot during off-season. The restaurant was cozy and relaxed - we were informed that there would be a wait but the host invited us to go to the upstairs bar. It was a nice bar looked new, the bartender was very friendly and accomodating. I had a sudden urge to try a Mimi Taylor which he had no idea about but he was willing to make the drink according to the recipe I spit out off the top of my head. He made it perfectly it was a refreshing drink to start the night. As we were having a good time at the bar the beeper went off so we were finally seated at the downstairs booth table. The first thing I wanted to try were the Irish eggrolls - Corned beef and cabbage wrapped in the eggroll wrapper served with a thousand island sauce!! Who would put two and two together? It was ingenious especially during the St Patty season. They should definitely keep that on the regular menu! If I had a child with an Irish man, it would be this corned beef/cabbage egg roll love child. We also ordered the sweet potato fries which was served with a very good ranch it made the fries taste good! The calamari had a nice coating and fried to a perfect crisp. For dinner 4 out of 5 of us ordered the single crabcake with a medley of vegetables. I replaced the mash potato with the double medley vegetables. When the crabcake arrived we sort of laughed because it was served with ONLY asparagus. We were like "This was no medley!". The crabcake was probably one of the best I've eaten in the OC. It was filled with a mix of lump crabmeat and backfins, no fillers whatsoever, it was simple but so fresh and tasty! This was one of the best meals I had in the OC.

Gary has done a wonderful job with this new location.  I was in again on Sunday for lunch and his Cream of Crab soup is the best around.  Keep up the good work!

Micky Fins is in the Ocean City Fishing Center in West Ocean City, it has come to be as a result of the long time favorite Marlin Moon Grille closing. It has the same great food as Marlin Moon Grille had... it is an upscale place, so dress a little nicer... golf shirt and nice shorts.... menu is really great, it's extensive, and everything is well prepared. The views are unbelievable.... take a camera, these views you'll want to capture.

The food was very good no doubt and the portions were also very good. I would have given 4 stars but in my opinion it is too pricey! Most plates will run you minimum $30. For two with appetizer and a couple of drinks $100.
The service was also great but if they dropped the average price $5.00 a dish the value of this place goes way up.

Note: Get the Crab soup as it tastes amazing!

DOESN'T LIVE UP TO THE HYPE -  The food was mediocre and overpriced, which was the best part of the experience. The service was horrendous and rumor has it that it starts from the ownership down.

The disorganization of the entire staff including management is almost hilarious (if you think its funny to wait mildly busy night for over an hour and twenty minutes). Its like watching a group of carnie meth addicts try to play Jenga. Or if someone gave the kids from Jersey Shore financing to open a restaurant.

We gave this place a shot on two different occasions - chalking up the first sub par experience as a possible fluke. Our second attempt will be our last. In OCMD if we are going to drop coin on a nice dinner with the promise of good service it won't be here.

Chalk this up as another OCMD over hyped restaurant that will close its doors in 3 years.

Seriously bummed to post this... This is perhaps the biggest disappointment in a local restaurant. Micky Fin's does not live up to the hype for the following reasons:
1- the food is only good if your server can get it right. Otherwise it's wrong, late or it never comes.
2- call ahead seating is total BS. Don't waste your time.
3- the wait. LOL, the wait. First off, do not believe what they tell you. And add at least 30 min to whatever they tell you. 2nd NEVER ask how much longer, even if it has been an hour and 10 minutes when you called ahead and were told 30. Because a manager (GB) will publicly chastise you in front of your family and say if you ask again he will only make it longer. Seriously, that happened to us. All of it. So unbelievable and inappropriate that I have to tell all. I wish it didn't, I mean we were there with our parents who were supposed to be getting acquainted before our wedding. 3 hours later, after a 75 min wait, the mgr insulting us, and a missed main course... The 7 of us left after paying $200+ and a tip.
Oh and I have to mention, "the mgr" was wearing an oversized tee shirt with a huge graphic of a baby (from The Hangover) in a Baby Bjorn. Seriously couldn't make this up. Wildly disappointing yet expensive experience. I wouldn't go if I were you. I know I won't make the same mistake again. Any place that so egregiously disrespects its clientele doesn't deserve to be open.

GREAT menus, both the bar menu and dinner menu. View is fantastic, price range is excellent, quality ~ scrumptious. We dined outside next to the marina and had a great time! Enjoyed TWO apps, 4 entrees, couple of beers and walked out full and spending under $100, can't beat it! Live music and the service was wonderful!

Seared Tuna salad was perfection and the calamari was delicious!

This place is very nice. The views are great, nice patio. And best yet the food. The crab dip is a must, and the tuna steak was perfect. If you're in the area and can't decide where to eat, head here and enjoy.

I had already eaten at Sunset Grille, as that is one of my parents' favorite restaurants in the area.  They own Micky Fins too!  My father and I wanted something low-key, and surprisingly, this place was not crowded at all.  We opted to sit outside, on an outdoor seating area (an extension of the upstairs dining room) with a roof over top of the dining area.  Part of the deck upstairs is not covered, and had gorgeous flowers!  Wonderful view from both areas!!  Large restaurant upstairs and downstairs.  Views of fishing docks and the inlet.

We had the fried green tomatoes with crabmeat on top...absolutely amazing!  Also tried the crab cakes and was in love!!  These have got to be the best kept secret and crab cakes down the beach!!  shhhhhh!!!
Jumbo lump crabmeat, spiced just right.  Wonderful pricing as well!

    Cannot wait to return!!
