To start, this place transports you back into an old school bar. Fairly new construction but with an inside that reminds of a 70's tavern. Cool Concept. Outside or indoors this place is always hoppin. Cool boater crowd and nice lookin people as well. Service is always top-notch, with Mike himself as involved an owner as you will find - touching base with numerous tables and a smile for everyone. Food is quality for a great price. Find a better certified angus burger anywhere for this price. You can't. They even use an all-natural hormone-free chicken. Unexpected on the Mile but awesome to see that kind of care going into the changes they make. Items are breaded and not battered like every other "fish" spot, and the perch, whitefish and specials are all FRESH!! Amazing. A must try and a must come-back again. Reasonable food and drink costs, and tremendous quality!
Review Source:The first time I went here I was dying to have good food, decent service and give this place a four star rating. Â Well... Â They were packed at 9pm and they're kitchen was closed! Â I was shocked, and pissed, but I didn't hold it against them.... Â If they want to miss out on a great, hungry crowd, I guess that's on them... Â
On my second visit I put aside my frustration of my prior visit, but I was still super disappointed. Â Our waitresses name was Nancy. Â She was an old hag, and kind of trashy. Â She talked out of turn, made snide jokes, and kept calling the girl that I was there with "little lady" as if she was 12... She was in her mid 20's. Â We had some sort of "assistant waitress" that complained about the music at the establishment she worked at, hung out at our table (maybe because we were the only table under 50 in the joint), and over-stayed her welcome by more than double an appropriate amount of time.
I wasn't impressed with the menu. Â It was short, didn't have much on it, the stuff that was on it didn't sound very good (a tilapia ruben? Â really?). Â They didn't seem like they did the traditional sea-side restaurant fair very good (fish & chips and all that seemed like it was more of an afterthought than a focal point), & their sandwiches were nothing special. Â This is yet another bar/diner experience on the East side with no real reason to come to. Â I ordered a club sandwich... Theirs didn't come with a middle slice of bread, it was more like a two meat sandwich with bacon, no pickle... It wasn't bad, at least it had "turkey and ham" instead of "turkey or ham," but it was nothing special. Â I picked it because nothing else seemed worth trying, and I wanted to stay safe. Â My friend had the cheeseburger with the stuffed cheese. Â She said it wasn't bad but it was under cooked. Â She ordered it well and it was still pink in the middle.
On top of all of that... They cool this establishment with room style wall mounted air conditioners, and random fans posted throughout... Â I was sweating inside, and definitely not very comfortable.
All in all I wasn't happy with my dining experience, but I guess I would go back for cheap drinks if that's where all of my friends were going. Â They have $5 stoli martini's... Â I guess that's worth a star?
Love it, love it, love it! Â Mike's on the Water at Colony Marine has the perfect atmosphere and an amazing deck for a wonderful day/night on the water! Â A GREAT place to hang out with friends and family on the water. Â You can pull your personal water craft up to their new floating dock or your boat into a well right along the deck. Â The eats are just as amazing, you have to try the Whitefish Dip and the Baked Pretzel, to die for!!!! For dinner a New England Lobster Roll is on the menu and has fabulous flavors, loved it! Â Also a big fan of the Mike's Cheeseburger!!!
I would highly recommend you give it a try, it's my new favorite place!!!!
