If I could I would give a half star! Service SUCKED! One person got a can of soda that expired April 2012. They would not come to table to serve us. They charged me full price for half off apps. They added 2 extra beers on my tab. Went into the ladies room freezing cold and very unclean! Pizza was ok but not for $26. Only send someone to this place if you hate them.
Review Source:We used to go here all the time because they had such an excellent beer selection. They still do, but they place is just kind of a disappointment now. We never go here for breakfast, but the lunch and dinner food is average to below average. They make a big thing out of the "long dog" pizza, but it's not that special. I think square inch-wise, it's about the same as a large round pizza elsewhere, and it's way more expensive. And there's never very much meat on it. I don't mind paying a lot for something that is quality, but this isn't it.
One thing that I really like in a neighborhood bar is the ability to have a conversation over drinks with the person I'm with. This place has really loud music most of the time (I think it depends on who the bartender is) and you can't hear the other person talk. Also, there are three televisions on in this tiny place as well, for even more distraction. Maybe that makes sense on game day, but all three TVs are on, sometimes on different channels, every time I go to this place.
I think that I'm giving up on the Milton Tavern forever. Maybe I'm getting old, but The Milton Tavern experience has turned into an overpriced annoyance.
We've been regular customers here for a number of years, but it's sad to see this place going downhill. Â Their prices have always been higher than other locations, but there used to be service and good food. Â The last few times it's taken forever to get food served and tonight they lost our order. Â Â As we were all hungry we decided to just settle the bill and get out. Â We won't be back again. Â If you do go, don't order food, only order what you can actually see the bartender serve you (I.e. drinks) because you might not get your order.
Review Source:My husband and I go here regularly for pizza and beer. Â The service is always friendly, and even though you're supposed to go to the bar to order, they do come by to take refill orders occasionally (which is helpful after that second or third beer!). Â
The pizza is tasty - we usually order a long dog so we have leftovers. Â The beer selection is interesting - I like a pretty wide variety of beer styles, but am not a fan of really hoppy beers. Â Occasionally, most of the lighter taps are IPAs/pale ales, which doesn't leave me with a lot of options other than stout (which is great, just not what I'm craving on a hot day).
Bottom line, it's one of our local favorites, and we go often because it's a great mix of tried and true food, and a surprising drink selection.
Giving this place a one star was very hard for me. Â It use to be a hang out of my wife and mines for years. Â It had the best pizza (not only my opinion but of all my friends and family I brought there). Â I would literally spend $180 there every Friday, of every month, for years. Â Than the owner got fire happy and got rid of cooks, managers, and bartenders. Â We attempted to go back a total of 7 times; each time the pizza tasted different; bad different; each time. Â This is sad because they had a good thing a screwed it up. Â Maybe they should sell the Arm out in Buckley and consintrate on one bar and do it good. Â I say this because as soon as they bought the Arm is when the Tav went to crap!! Â I CANT BELIEVE THIS REVIEW WAS FILTERED.
Review Source:Decent place for a beer, it used to be a great place for pizza and beer, not sure what happened to their pizza, but it's not what it was a few years back. Â My friends had my 50th birthday party for me in the downstairs room and they handled that great. Â Good beer selection, knowledgable staff, it used to be a 4 star but has slid to 3.
Review Source:I have a tough time rating this place. Â They have a lot of things going for it but they really messed some things up as well.
We brought our kids in which is OK but you have to order at the bar. Â The kids can't go in the bar area so this means I have to remember everyones orders and do all the ordering myself. Â Table service would be so much easier. Â
The boys ordered burgers which come with potato chips unless you pay extra for soup, salad, coleslaw and I think fries. Â Joe asked for soup but they didn't have any. Â They weren't out, they just didn't make any that day. Â
So I switched it to coleslaw (remember no table service so I had to make the decision for the kids). Â It didn't matter because they just brought chips anyway and forgot the coleslaw.
The bartender came out a few minutes after we ordered and said they didn't have any onion straws for the Western Burgers. Â One boy said that is fine, and the other boy said he would like to change his order. Â The bartender didn't know what to do because he already rang us up and said we had to have something that cost the same amount. Â No prob, we changed to a Teriyaki burger but that is not something you usually tell a customer when you screwed up.
Burgers were huge and tasted great. Â Chips were not homemade and weren't anything special. I had a pizza which was pretty good but the crust was plain and boring. Â I ordered extra garlic on which was free and really made the pizza. Â I don't think I will go with pizza again, those burgers looked pretty good.
The place has an upstairs and a party room downstairs but I didn't really check it out. Â
So pretty good food, but it still has a few issues and the customer service was pretty bad although they were friendly. Â I can see this place getting 2 stars if we go back again or maybe 4 stars...
The Milton Tavern had ok food but the prices are ridiculously expensive. One pizza, cheesy bread and 4 beers cost  my boyfriend and I almost 55 dollars!!! Highway robbery considering, I think, Louie G's down the street has better tasting pizza. Their service is pretty slow and not the best. We ordered a supreme pizza and when we received there were no pepperonis on it. My boyfriend stopped the waiter to ask him if they were maybe outta pepperoni and his response was, "No, you want to bring you a side of pepperoni or something?" At that answer we just let it go. What he shoulda done was have the cook remake our pizza. Wrong answer dude. I work in the food industry and thats poor customer service if I ever saw it.
Review Source:I've been here before, couple times. Food is usually good. Service has been better ~ Much better. When there 4-1-2011, 12:45 -1 pm for lunch. We did not get our food for over an HOUR after ordering said there was a party upstairs. Well  two things i have to say about that.
1) should have planned for the party  and 2) Should have planned for the party. Â
$26 for 1 cheeseburger and 1 BLT sub. 1 diet coke and 2 pinapple juces. (2nd choices as first choices were turkey sandwiches, for which we were told they had run out of turkey) For the lunch it was, taking a customer out it was bloody bad service and high price for a Tavern. Thank goodness the train wreak lunch did not upset my GOOD customer.  Too bad for the MT, they have probably lost me as a customer.  For this money I could have stayed closer to my office, and taken my GOOD customer to johnneys Dock. never fails to please in the Tacoma Tideflats. So.. although i am still a fan of the place..But  they cannot afford in these times to be overpriced and understaffed, unless of course you can survive off beer sales alone.
Well after renting out the room downstairs for my mothers birthday party I had to downgrade one star because of the long wait it took for us to get our food. Â It took about an hour from the time people ordered food until the time they received it. Â Granted they got slammed because of a Husky game, but we had the room reserved well in advance, and they should have planned better knowing they had a husky game coming.
This has nothing to do with the service, our bartender Lauren was great, she stayed very busy and was on top of things. Â It was just the kitchen backing up that slowed things down.
Besides that, still great food, and the room is like your own private bar to rent out and for the cost was definitely worth it. Â I'll probably try it again sometime, but if they have the same problem I doubt I'd do it again after that.
This place has 20-ish beers on tap (usually 3 or 4 are unusual and particularly good), a full bar, and some basic wines and bottled beers. The food is typical pub food: I recommend the french dip or the Mighty Milton Burger (for 2 of course). Friends like the pizzas and the grinders as well. It's a fairly small main floor room with 5 large tables and 8 or 9 4-tops and 8-10 bar stools.
You can bring kids here if they stay on the street side of the half wall.
Order at the bar, like the sign says, and they'll bring you your food. There are 3 TVs and a fantastic view of Pacific Highway. Â There is also a very small beer garden when Chris clears all his junk out of the way.
It's A-OK.
New to the neighborhood and hoping to find a good breakfast spot close to home, I wanted to like it.
It's a casual place. We ordered up at the bar and then grabbed a table. We had our pick of the place since we were the only ones there at 11am on a rainy Saturday. (2 small groups came in while we were eating.)
The people working the place were friendly. The food was not so good. It tasted like everything came frozen, was fried up, then served.
I wanted to like it, but I don't think we will be back for breakfast.
went with coworkers, what a great place, service was wonderful. Several pizzas were delivered and were tasty, especially the pesto and artichoke.
Personally ordered a burger and it was incredible! Downside- pitchers are pricey, come on this is Fife, not Seattle. $18 is more than a lot of Seattle venues.
I heard that the Milton was going to serve breakfast again on weekends, so decided to go check it out. I was blown away by it - the best breakfast I've had in years! I'm not ordinarily a big breakfast person, but we took our grandson there one Sunday (it's not your average tavern, but more of a nice little place where locals like to go with a nice atmosphere, lots of plasma TVs and even board games for kids!). My husband had the french toast with an orange liquor and cinnamon syrup that was out of this world! And I had a breakfast burrito (you can choose your own mixture) that I shared with my grandson and we both gobbled it up! The service was great, the prices even better (the average cost per person is around $7) and the amount of food you get is unbelievable for the price!
I highly recommend it!!!!
I know this business is already here, but its not here for the breakfast. Â I went here out of curiosity. Â I was told they did breakfast. Â I thought it was a joke. Â OH MAN!!! I got the biscuits and gravy and add three eggs this is one of the best biscuits and gravy meals I've had. Â Made perfect. Â So if you want some breakfast Milton Tavern is were its at. Â They just started doing this On March 7th so its fairly new. Â But trust me go and try it. Â Its awesome
Review Source:I was really surprised! I had low expectations, not sure why, I just did. I ordered an italian sub, but they really didn't have it on the menu, per se, but they did it and it was really good! In addition, they were busy as hell and everyone was still nice and helpful... I'd go back again, if I can find it.
Review Source:The Milton Tavern is a wonderful place to go. Â Good food, good service, good people.
We've been coming down to watch football games on their big screens lately. Â There's always a good group of people there. Â Some of the staff can be snoody at times (Rose mainly)
Their pizza is EXCELLENT, they have good drinks, sell Kegs to Go even and have a good selection of beer.
The only thing I could say that could improve is a bigger selection of appetizers. Â Sometimes you want something other than what they have, like what regular bars have. Â Onion Rings, etc.
