Mimmo's Pizza & Pasta

Used to be where Marcella's is now, has moved a few blocks up the street.  (Right across from Palm Aire, I haven't tried it yet.

I was also told that this was the best pizza in town- from a New Yorker, so had high expectations. We went for lunch and got the special of a soda and 2 slices for $5.95. I had a cheese slice and a sausage and cheese slice. Maybe it was the day - it was busy, and salads looked good, the Italian food looked good, but the pizza was just not good. Huge slices, they had thick crust, were dry, and did not have enough tomato sauce. Mine had more sausage then cheese, and was not warm all the way through. We both agreed that we would try it again, but not for the pizza. As for the ex New Yorker, I told her she had lived in S. Florida for too long. :)

While in transit on my move back to the area I came across this spot. I saw a few cops standing nearby and asked them what was good in the vicinity. They are the ones that pointed me in Mimmo's direction. So thanks officers for doing your civic duty.  Tucked in a corner of a plaza and while not the most outwardly appealing place.  It kicks ass!
Nice selection of pasta dishes. I am a sucker for chicken marsala, and they didn't disappoint. My husband pretty much made out with his carbonara. They have a good salad and super garlicky warm buns that I could become addicted to. Nice server who also hooked us up with a coupon and our meal was like $20- are you kidding me? AWESOME. I will be back and let you know how their Pizza is. I am giving it 5 stars solely based upon food and service. Happy New Year Yelpers!
