My cousin and I would always ask to go to Ming LIng's for our birthdays (only 10 days apart). Â It was the best back in the 60's & 70's and what a trip going to the BIG city from Chesterton, IN. Â My cousin now lives in New Mexico and I live in Louisiana but we still talk about going to Ming Ling's. Â So glad to hear they are still around and being enjoyed after all these years. Â Here's to the Chop Suey !!
Review Source:As with Larry J, I grew up on Ming Ling. Â That said, I still love them! I cannot get enough and feel a slight pang in my heart whenever I eat Chinese food (even if it's better). Â They have a distinct taste that I have not found replicated. Â They are family owned and fantastic. Â Most definitely a treat compared to some of the other "Beach" restaurants on the near by streets. Â The fried wontons are wonderful and their fried rice is always great. Â Everyone should go to Ming Ling at least once. Â You'll be a fan as well!
Review Source:Wow, I get to type the first review for Ming Lings. :)
I grew up in Gary, Indiana in Miller not too far from Ming Ling.
Like many kids who grew up in Miller, Ming Lings was the first place I ever tasted  Chinese food.
I moved from Gary 24 years ago and I live in San Francisco now. I am spoiled by all the good Chinese food here in San Francisco.
I went back to Ming Lings last summer on a visit to Gary.
I am glad they haven't changed a thing since I moved away as a kid.
Everyone in town still loves Ming Lings and I can't bring myself to saying something negative about them. That would almost be as bad as saying something bad about a family member online. All I can say is that my taste has changed, A LOT!. ;)
That special sauce they have I used to love as a kid, well I honestly don't  know what it is. The taste did bring back memories and their deep fried wantons were great.
I will still recommend that this is one of the better places to eat in Gary. If not, the only place left to eat in Gary. :)
I still prefer it over that over-priced place across the street (Miller Beach Cafe).
Glad to see Ming Lings still in business.
