I HAVE NOT BEEN TO MOLLY MALONES:

But I was looking for a place to go after work on Sunday at 11:30pm and a friend who considers it her local bar mentioned it. She said they often close on Sundays if the place doesn't have anyone in it so its a good idea to call ahead.

This is my new neighborhood bar hangout since moving to Pleasant Ridge over the past summer. The owner is incredibly engaged and it is so refreshing to always seem him at the bar. The clientele here is very diverse in every type of way which I think reflects well on Molly's ability to attract the community.

We have become regulars for the Pub Trivia and always make sure to arrive a bit early to get a good table (Trivia is Tuesday at 7:30). The Pub Trivia is pretty well run, though the quizmaster changes week to week.

Atmosphere & Parking:The bar itself suits it's Irish Pub heritage quite well and the furniture is generally good quality. Personally, I love the high tables! There is a booth near the entrance that is quite nice for larger groups, but is in need of being reupholstered. There is also a patio with a fire pit that is perfect for cooler months. Parking is pretty easy with a small attached lot and the opportunity to park across the street at the beauty school's parking lot.

Food & Drinks: Everyone loves the french fries which are always perfectly crisp and super addictive! I also enjoy the calzones and adore the Wicklow Portabella Sandwich when they have it. To me, the Wicklow with the caper spread is the most outstanding item which could easily fit in at a much fancier establishment. The beer selection seems pretty good and they always have a cider on tap (Magners at the moment).

Staff: Staff varies greatly in engagement (some just disappear for long periods of time), but I have to commend a waitress (with glasses) that typically serves in the same dining room as the quiz master. I really need to catch her name, she is such a rockstar! She even saved my phone one time when I accidentally left it on the table.

Overall, a solid neighborhood bar that will be seeing me quite frequently!

Overall, this place has great potential.....just needs to address some obvious issues.
