I headed to Pleasant Ridge Chili a few days ago for lunch with a coworker. I had read all about these gravy cheese fries and decided it was about time I tried them. The place was pretty crowded around 11:45AM, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Upon asking what we needed to try, our server and multiple fellow patrons agreed that we needed to get the gravy cheese fries. We got an order to share, and in addition I ordered a small 5-way and a cheese coney as I felt like I had to try the chili too.
I've tried a lot of chili in my time, and Skyline still remains my favorite Cincinnati chili. But I must say that Pleasant Ridge Chili's chili delivered - it was definitely good. It had a chunkier consistency than Skyline (sounds gross, but I don't know how else to describe it) and was a little less spicy. We enjoyed the gravy cheese fries as well, but weren't super blown away by them. I have a feeling that gravy cheese fries are the kind of thing that taste 1,000 times better after you've thrown back a few drinks.
P-ridge Chili is the kind of place that you want to keep going back to - for the food, the atmosphere, and a pretty small price tag. I will definitely make multiple trips to P-ridge Chili!
Oh sweet baby Jesus I almost forgot about PRC... How!? How could i forget those artery clogging gravy cheese fries that tasted like Heaven????
So many late night memories of PRC from my high school and college days. Â I miss it dearly. Such a little divey diner.
This is a must experience in Cincinnati!
After a long night of hopping from one holiday party to another, I suddenly realized how hungry I was. Â The group I was with came to the consensus that PRC was open, and that made it the best option. Â It was fantastic...it felt as though I went back in time to my high school days. Â I ordered what was recommended, gravy cheese fries and conies, and then sat down in the booth. Â I glanced around, and I noticed how the restaurant was packed with people, and many of them appeared to be high school or college age. Â Everyone seemed to be talking loudly with a sense of excitement in their voices. Â I remembered, back in the day, going to similar places after football games. Â I remembered how it felt to order food at whatever place was still open, and then to stay up talking and eating and wishing that the night would not come to an end. Â In the middle of my reverie, the food came, and it was pure Cincinnati goodness. Â The conies and fries were filling in the way that only such unhealthy food can be. Â Thank you, PRC, for the good food and the trip back to more lighthearted days.
