I'm a big fan of the Banh Mi's but this place is a bit on the expensive side.  I think this place has the best Cafe Sua Da.

The banh mi actually tastes pretty good but it's highway robbery how much they skimp on the meat. One of my sandwiches in a bag of 6 literally only had 2 pieces of pork, not even enough to cover all the bread. The rest were sparse at best. Same goes for the banh bao. All bread, hardly any meat. I've been to this place three times and I've seen this every time. I love the sandwiches and the cafe sua da but Jesus, there's something to be said about a business that runs on charging high prices and cheats their customers out of sufficient ingredients to fill a sandwich. I will not be returning

I agree with most of the reviewers that the Bahn Mi sandwhiches from here are excellent!   The baguettes are crispy and warm just like they should be and the sandwhich toppings are delicious.  I plan on going here often since it's much closer than Eden Center to me.  Don't get me wrong, one restaurant can't match the diversity and greatness of Eden Center, but if you need a Bahn Mi fix, this is the place!  The prices are very reasonable and the service was good.  Overall I was highly pleased with New Ben Tre.

The positive reviews below misled me. Being in the area and craving bahn mi, I looked this up on Yelp and after reading the reviews, thought "I HAVE TO TRY IT!"

Upon walking in, no one wanted to take our order or give us a menu. After finally getting service and able to see the menu, we ordered the buy 5 sandwiches, get one free. We ordered 3 combinations and 3 chickens, with the intent on bringing the left overs home for others. We ordered the Vietnamese eggrolls and a taro smoothie with boba.

First, the smoothie was delicious. The tapioca balls were perfect texture and I was a happy camper when drinking this. When we got home, we tried the food - nothing but disappointment. The sandwiches were on good bread, but you could tell it was a little stale. If it wasn't, it would have been great. Both variations were dry and lacking flavor. The chicken was the worst, it was just boiled chicken - no flavoring. The veggies were not fresh and the daikon and carrots actually tasted a little old. The eggrolls were awful, they tasted fishy and not fully cooked.

If I knew our experience would have turned out like this, I would have driven the extra miles and gone to Eden. The sandwiches here were more expensive then our favorite places in Eden. Depending on where you go in Eden, they are more flavorful and fresher.

I don't know about their bakery goods, but they seemed limited. I honestly wouldn't even try anything else since what we had was not good and made to order. The boba was the best thing here, but not worth coming here just for.

The bread and veggies were good but I felt like they skimped out on the meat.  I usually get Banh Mi at either DC Banh Mi or Ba Le compared to them, it was OK.  I'm not sure I'd go back for Banh Mi here again.

Best kept secret in springfield. I work right down the street from this place, and just discovered in from yelping for a close place to grab a bite to eat. The Bahn Mi is just outstanding. I got the bbq bahn mi and it was just too good. Meat was flavorful, veggies were pickled just right, plus its on a fresh baked bread. And all for $3 bucks......you can't beat it at all.

I'm a bahn mi fanatic!  Love these things!  New Ben Tre has awesome bahn mi and they're pastries are delicious as well!  The bread baked here is super airy and flakey!  For $3.00 a pop you can't go wrong!

CliffsNotes:  Looking for some pretty decent Vietnamese sandwiches (bahn mi) then head over to New Ben Tre for because it's inexpensive and you get a great deal when you buy in bulk (3 or more).  You won't find any pho but you'll find your typical assortment of Vietnamese baked goods and market items.  [Original Visit: June 21, 2009]
