Bati Restaurant and Lounge

We tried this place last night and it was great.  We love Ethiopian food so I am just really excited, in general, to know about this little strip of Ethiopian places.  I read the reviews of a few places here and was ready for the parking lot.  It wasn't too bad, but it was also a Sunday night.  Though I got lucky and saw a spot so went all agressive soccer mom to make sure that spot became *my* spot.  I had ordered carry out and when I went in there were eight employees in a totally empty restaurant.  It is surprisingly nice inside though. I'd definitely go back to eat there sometime.  The ladies at the bar were so nice and my food was ready when I arrived.  They take all the credit cards so that was nice.  We got the veggie combo and the Bati special which was a steak tibs with a spicy sauce on the side. An extra piece of injera was 75 cents. Our total bill was $32 and we ended up with enough food to last a normal couple for two dinners.  We, however, had just run a half marathon and were ravenous - but there's still enough left for one very hungry marathon runner to enjoy tonight.  I guess we'll fight over that later.  Of all the places I've tried since moving to Arlington, Bati is definitely my favorite!

I liked this place so much, I went twice over the weekend.  Authentic Ethiopian food and one of the best on the island of all things East African that is Skyline.  It is definitely a place full of regulars and I was the only non-habesha person there both times I visited.  I guess that says that the food is worth eating for sure.  Service is outstanding.  I will be back.

Small, pleasant place with friendly service.  Yebig tibs and veggie combo were tasty and not greasy.  But not memorable.  Prices are on par with comparably good Ethiopian places in DC, so unless you already happen to be in Falls Church there is no particular reason to drive here and struggle with the tight evening parking situation.
