We tried this place last night and it was great. Â We love Ethiopian food so I am just really excited, in general, to know about this little strip of Ethiopian places. Â I read the reviews of a few places here and was ready for the parking lot. Â It wasn't too bad, but it was also a Sunday night. Â Though I got lucky and saw a spot so went all agressive soccer mom to make sure that spot became *my* spot. Â I had ordered carry out and when I went in there were eight employees in a totally empty restaurant. Â It is surprisingly nice inside though. I'd definitely go back to eat there sometime. Â The ladies at the bar were so nice and my food was ready when I arrived. Â They take all the credit cards so that was nice. Â We got the veggie combo and the Bati special which was a steak tibs with a spicy sauce on the side. An extra piece of injera was 75 cents. Our total bill was $32 and we ended up with enough food to last a normal couple for two dinners. Â We, however, had just run a half marathon and were ravenous - but there's still enough left for one very hungry marathon runner to enjoy tonight. Â I guess we'll fight over that later. Â Of all the places I've tried since moving to Arlington, Bati is definitely my favorite!
Review Source:I liked this place so much, I went twice over the weekend. Â Authentic Ethiopian food and one of the best on the island of all things East African that is Skyline. Â It is definitely a place full of regulars and I was the only non-habesha person there both times I visited. Â I guess that says that the food is worth eating for sure. Â Service is outstanding. Â I will be back.
Review Source:Small, pleasant place with friendly service. Â Yebig tibs and veggie combo were tasty and not greasy. Â But not memorable. Â Prices are on par with comparably good Ethiopian places in DC, so unless you already happen to be in Falls Church there is no particular reason to drive here and struggle with the tight evening parking situation.
Review Source:I decided to post a review on this restaurant because of my wonderful experience. Â I ran across this place unexpectedly today looking for tea. Â As soon as I walk in I see a very upscale and clean atmosphere. Â I sit down, looked at the menu to find myself in an ethiopian place. Â I immediatly asked the server if she had tea and she recomended that I try their cinnamon tea- it was amazingly good!! but then I started getting hungry after reading the menu, I hesitated to order since my last experience with Ethiopian wasnt good...so I asked her what she recomended for vegetarian. I ordered the platter that came with vegetarian combinations... As soon as the food arrived it looked amazing, it's so fresh and delicious. I went out of my way to compliment them about their food. Â I can tell that this place is always busy. The portions are large and filling, I took the rest to-go and I will be returning back very soon. Â
If you are not familiar to Ethiopian food, I suggest you pick this place to go, other places do not compare to this place at all.
It was crazy delicious but easy to over load on. Â We ordered the vegetarian special and the Bati Tibs. Â I don't like lamb, but it was actually quite tasty. Â The "salad" that comes with the vegetarian special is actually a cold mix of veggies and injera in a vinegary dressing. Â Very good. Â I felt nauseous from eating too much. Â They should definitely make you drink some tea at the end. Â Not a huge bargain, but they give you enough for 2 meals. Â For 3 women, it was about $60 (Meal and tip). Â I wanted to eat more, but my stomach couldn't handle it! Â It was full by 730pm.
Review Source:This was my first Ethiopian experience so I don't have anything to compare it too but it was so delicious. Â I had the Bati special . Â The restaurant is much nicer inside than out. Â The hostess was so nice and very helpful with understanding the menu and the entire eating experience.
Review Source:This is by far the best Ethiopian food I have eaten in the US. And I agree with the other reviewers too about the reasonable prices.
The restaurant was suggested to me when I was casually chatting with an Ethiopian friend and when we arrived at this place, I realized that we were the only non-Ethiopian there, at that time. And it was full. So I can say it is as authentic as it can get in the DC area.
Some of us ordered the veggie combo and it was filling (with so many servings of Injera bread that we had, it had to be). The meat lovers enjoyed the tibs.
The music before 8:30 was a little 80s. But later they played some nice Ethiopian music.
There is no lack of ethiopian restaurants in the skyline shopping center. We have been to several of them and we like many of them. We had the vegetarian combo and it was pretty good. Not all the items on the plate were excellent, but enough to make it good. Alongside Peacock restaurant on the other side of the strip mall, this is one of my favorite places.
Review Source:I came here with a group of friends this weekend. Its located in a strip mall full of Ethiopian business. Â A co-worker of mine's brother owns the restaurant and that's how we found out about it. Â The food was amazing, I'd never had Ethiopian before and I'm glad I made this place my first stop vs. Das Ethiopian. Â Get the special beef dish off the sharing menu, it was very delicious! You know this place is good because there's mostly Ethiopians eating there. For 5 of us (with wine and beers), it cost us about $21 a piece, which is a great deal in my opinion. There's also a hookah place next door, so there's other things to do around there.
