The New Metropolitan Restaurant

We went to this place thinking it was a fine dining establishment bc of their website. Although the dining room was recently redone, it was not a fine dining restaurant. We ordered the lobster bisque and crab cakes for appetizers. The lobster bisque was fabulous and the crab cakes were huge and delicious (almost a meal in themselves). My dad-in-law ordered veal picatta which was on special that night for $15. He seemed to like it. My mom-in-law also ordered a special; the white muscles ($15) and she seemed to like it. My wife ordered the picatta style grouper ($18) and thought the sauce was heavy on the lemon and the dish overall was just average. I ordered the bone in ribeye with mashed potatoes ($24) and thought it was a decent meal although I do think they cut my steak thinner than it should have been cut. Overall the meal was OK but our concerns were:
1. The menu on the website did not match the menu in the restaurant - we chose this place specifically because we saw Prime Rib on the website menu.
2. Although very nice, the wait staff was not dressed to the level of a fine dining, or for that matter, a decent restaurant. The waiter looked like a mechanic just out of the garage and his trainee looked like a golf course groundskeeper (Dirty jeans and a golf shirt).
3. We had to ask them to re-fill our glasses EVERY time they needed refilling.
4. Many items on the menu were not available bc the oven was broken!?
All of these shortcomings, however, were mitigated by their decent food bc, at the end of the night, we did have a good meal. Finally, they had Al Holland from The Platters performing in the bar so we went in there and enjoyed a few songs b4 we left.
Would I come here for a special occasion dinner where I want fine dining quality? No. Would I come here looking for a decent meal without pretense? Yes.
