CLOSED - I talked to the folks who run the Nicky's Quickie food booth at local farmers' markets and they said that this restaurant has closed. Â They are still running their truck all over, though, and they have a restaurant in Minturn, CO for those who are in that neck of the woods. Â Too bad this location is closed, because it wasn't too far from me and I've enjoyed their food when I got it at a couple of farmers' markets. Â So keep an eye out for them in your area - their gyros are certainly worth a try if you are able to find them. Â I believe they are still at the Cherry Creek farmers' market on Saturday mornings and the City Park one on Sundays.
Review Source:I was super stoked when I got a flier on my door advertising a new Greek place on my side of town. The other evening, we didn't feel like cooking and decided to give this place a try.
First impressions walking in the joint weren't too bad, except for the fact that they only have four things on their menu! I was in the mood for a good Greek gyro so I was happy to see that that was one of their items. The four items are all Greek sandwiches - the standard gyro (with added kalamata olives), one with falafel, a vegetarian option, and one with eggs.
They did have an option to get a drink and some fries for $10 (for the full size sandwich), so I upgraded since fries sounded good.
The sandwich was alright. I wouldn't say it was the most delicious gyro I have ever eaten, but I was hungry and it tasted good. The lamb was thinly sliced and was cooked well. The lettuce and rest of the sandwich, though, had this vinegar salad-dressing type sauce on it that overpowered everything inside of it (I didn't notice too much tzatziki on it either, so maybe with a bit more tzatziki it would be better). The fries were the worst fries I have ever eaten (and I've downed some pretty gnarly spuds). They were a mix of thinly sliced and medium sliced potatoes that were overcooked to a crispy hot mess. I don't know if they were frozen or fresh potatoes, but next time I would skip on this side item.
Seeing as this is a new restaurant and they are still trying to work out the kinks, I will probably give them a second try. The owner (or manager) seemed optimistic that there would be a chicken variation coming some time later this month, so hopefully that won't be the only new thing they add. I would have liked to have seen maybe some Greek Salads or some other variety from just four sandwiches.
