I've been here twice now for breakfast and I'm very happy with this place. Â Now this place would be considered a "dive". You will not go here for the atmosphere. I had an omelet and ham off the bone and eggs. Both were very good. The portions were big enough and the prices are very reasonable. I liked the potatoes with the crispy edges. Years ago I went to their old place further South on Milwaukee ave., and I'm pleased to say their breakfast is still very good. Can't comment on their lunch, never had it. This place has good parking since they have their own lot.
Review Source:After a movie, my kids and I came into Niles Grill for lunch. The order: a grilled cheese sandwich and two hot dogs. The waitress informed me that I couldn't order a hot dog for myself, because hot dogs are available only on the kids menu. I asked if I could pay extra for an "adult" hot dog. Uh, no. So now I'm sitting here watching my kids eat. I hope the waitress wasn't hoping I'd revise my order to accommodate thier  "rules" because that didn't happen. I'll eat at home I guess. I could tell you what I *really* think of Niles Grill, but you can probably guess that for yourself.
Review Source:I have been going to Niles Grill on and off for about a year now. It's actually an old IHOP restaurant that was owned by my friend's Dad MANY years ago and now turned into a quaint 1950's type diner. Niles Grill use to be further south on Milwaukee Avenue, and then moved and found a home here.
The burgers are the best: very thick and juicy. And many to choose from with real cute names for each type. My favorite is the Turkey Burger, which is extremely juicy.
There is much on the menu that is delightful and pretty simple fare. If it's looks like a diner and eats like a diner, well....
One caveat, though. Even though it is wheel chair accessible, there is a short, steep ramp in front of the door that can be hazardous to wheelchairs AND persons with a cane. It's very easy to lose your footing during the winter and wet weather.
We've been driving past this place for years and never thought to stop in prior to today. It's really not much to look at from outside. We just worked out at xport next door and decided to walk over and have lunch. Â It definitely has the old school diner, malt shop look to it inside.
The first thing that we noticed was how cheap most of the menu was. We eat breakfast a lot and these were some of the least expensive dishes we've seen in a while.
The burger menu was pretty enticing considering how many varieties they offered. We went for omelets though. I had the special omelet, which was ground beef, onions, peppers. and cheese with pancakes. My wife had the asparagus and mushroom omelet with greek toast. Both came with hash browns.
Both were good and pretty large. I probably had two burger patties worth of beef in my omelet. Our waitress was also very nice and would come by frequently to refill our water and make little funny comments every time. Â
We had zero expectations, but had a good meal with great service for about $15. Not too shabby considering how full we were afterwards.
Niles Grill has been the lunch spot for my dad and I for almost two years now. We can't get enough of it!
The restaurant definitely has a 50's theme. Even the menu is written in the 50's style. The food, however, couldn't be better. Very recently I actually came up to Niles Grill after an all nighter graduation party. There is no better way to re-wake yourself up than with Niles Grill breakfast. The coffee is great and your cup is never empty. Plus, there is no such thing as a small portion at Niles Grill. Most menu items come standard with a good helping of hash browns and toast on the side. Even better is the fact that you get good prices even with coffee or whatever you wish to drink alongside.
The lunch/dinner menu also has it's great pieces, namely the burger menu. These burgers are made beautifully, and prepared fresh and big. Their sandwich menu is just as wonderful, and every sandwich comes with a cup of the soup of the day.
Finally, the service is friendly, especially if you sit up at the counter. Ziggy, the chef, will always smile and welcome you in, and even if you're a complete stranger will greet you like an old friend.
Niles Grill will never disappoint, in any way. Make a stop over if you get a chance.
Moved up the street to 9206 Milwaukee Ave. Â
This place belongs in a 1950's movie. Â Breakfast menu has regular fare with good portions. EXCEPT the huge, handmade chopped steak and Giant pork chop. No crap this suckers 2" thick and both come grilled or cooked over the coals!! Â The ham is cut off the bone and you will not find any "Turkey, chicken" crap sausage here!
Lunch has small selection regular sandwiches.. Â and a few specials each day. I had the grilled ham and cheese which had hand cut Ham off the bone. Â
You have to look at the "Burger Section". They are hand made beauties. Â Bunch of different taste combos as well as good old standard Cheeseburgers. Â The monster burger is a HUGE two patty, mess of a sandwich. Its all worth the heart attack!!
Service is friendly and sometimes slow, but the coffee stays full.
