This place has very good pizza. I've been here a few times. The only thing that I don't like about this place is how hot it is, inside and outside.

Once I found out that slices are really the only way to go here, I was expecting to be disappointed. When the pizza is premade and they reheat it for you, it's seems to lose something.

Among the price options on the board was two slices of specialty pizza and a soda for $8.50. I did not get soda (I wanted to check out the draft selection) but figured that, since the special was two slices, I should get two also. Our total came to  $16.25, so you basically pay $.75 for a soda. The guy behind the counter explained what was on each pizza behind the glass. I got the Hot Wing pizza and the Combo. My wife got one with all meat and one with all veggies.

My premade pizza fears were allayed when our slices were hot and tasted fresh. The crust was not tough and the slices were large enough that we questioned our decision to get two apiece. My wife wished for a little more sauce on the pizza. I polished off my two pieces but my wife could only take a couple of bites of her second piece, the veggie. She offered it to me. I was full, but took a couple of bites just to taste it. Surprisingly, that one was my favorite.

The place is all college ambiance (loud music, cramped tables) and, during busier times, good luck finding a parking place. They do offer a decent selection of craft beers on tap as well as a full bar. We'll be back when we are in are looking to go somewhere outside our normal circle of places.

I love this place! There pizza is so great and every time my family is in town they demand me to take them here. I love all their pizzas' different toppings and their crust is not too bready and slightly crispy (aka just right). Its perfect for really fast friendly service. I love No Anchovies! (My friend also used the many TV's here to keep up with her favorite sports team. )

I'm incredibly picky about pizza. And I've found the Tucson pizza options to be lacking. However, No Anchovies definitely outshines the rest. Sure, the service is terrible and the restaurant's cleanliness is questionable, as is true for almost every other pizza place in Tucson. But their pizza is really good. They have great options, decent quality toppings and excellent crust (chewy, yet crispy on the bottom, with a great flavor). As far as pizza places go, they are quite vegetarian and vegan friendly - they even have a vegan pizza offered on their menu, which is just a veggie pizza with olive oil and no cheese (and is very good as far as a pizza with no cheese is concerned). Their marina sauce is also vegan. Nice. This is my go-to pizza place and I've become quite fond of it!

I had been meaning to eat here for quite some time but I always end up elsewhere on University.  Have to say, I won't be back for awhile by choice.

I love sitting at the bar and dining because you'll usually get pretty attentive service.  Not the case here.  Had to ask for everything, napkins, silverware, water, salt & pepper.  Bartender was just not affable or knowledgeable.

I was trying to have a healthy lunch and so I ordered a salad.  Really didn't seem like any effort was put into it.  Very underwhelming.

Most definitely my favorite food in Tucson!

No Anchovies is great local gem for some great pizza. I have been a No Anchovies regular for about a decade now and I love this place! The people they keep on staff here are always down-to-earth and real, while still providing great service. I have never met a cook or bartender that I didn't like. One great thing about No Anchovies is that it doesn't take long for the staff to remember you and your order!

Bonus - If you frequent this lovely establishment enough, they thank you with a large self-decorated mug that gets you plenty of beer for cheap!

I used to love coming to this place when I was a student at U of A.  Recently, I decided to take an out of state visitor there. The pizza was not at ALL how I remembered.  Either we caught the place on an off-night or the management has really taken a poor turn.  At the ordering area, the food obviously did not look fresh; it appeared to have been sitting there for many hours unrefrigerated before our arrival.  I hesitated but ordered a veggie pizza for myself and he ordered a hawaiian pizza.  It took nearly 20 minutes for our food to arrive, even though there were very few people in the restaurant.  When our food was finally "ready" it was cold and soggy (even though the pizza had ostensibly been warmed up).  It was the worst pizza I have ever had from anywhere in town.  Total disappointment.  I won't be returning.  Go to Frog next door instead.

What can I say, I love No Anchovies. Over the past 10 years I have seen NA only get better and better. New decor, new outside seating, new TV's, new bar area, new service counter, new awnings. However, the one thing that hasn't changed is their pizza recipes (and a few familiar faces). There is no reason to change them. They are delicious. Every time I am on university, I stop and get a slice of Mediterranean. And some times, when I have a craving, I make a trip down there just for a slice. This place definitely has a following, and regulars always feel at home.

No  Anchovies is just plain better than its frat row collegiate hangout brethren for several reasons. The pizza: cheap, tasty, and fast; the beverages: generous, varied, and fast; and the service. The staff at No Anchovies takes ownership of the place, even when patrons are packed in like sardines. Steven Romo, bartender and local music legend, is a force of nature.  Like the rest of the staff, he never seems to have a bad day. This team works together, and it shows.  I'm not a fan of university watering holes, but  NA has a touch of class most of them lack.

Hands down my favorite place to get pizza. Whenever I'm in Tucson, I make it a point to come here and eat. The Hot wing pizza is my pizza of choice, followed be cheese. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you get one of the many combos they have. They have a lot of TVs around to watch sports, which is great when the Wildcats are playing. Great food with a great atmosphere!

My sister took me here for lunch. It was fantastic! It costs $3 a slice, and the two slices she and I got were sauceless, which is great because my husband has an ulcer and can't eat pizza sauce. The pizza was a bit garlicky for my liking, but otherwise was great.
The guy who served us was really friendly and pleasant; he even wished us happy holidays as we went to put our tray away and throw out our paper plates.
The pizza is displayed cold, but is heated on a conveyor toaster to just the right heat. When I transfer to the U and have to leave late, I will definitely see about picking up a couple slices for supper.

No Anchovies only gets 4 stars because parking is hell if you're not already on campus, and who pays for parking in Tucson???

They have awesome pizzas ready to go into the oven, slice by heavenly slice, to come out the other end a minute later.  Slices go for around $3 and for $6 you get a soda too.  More about the soda later.

Seating has changed over the years.  They've really maximize the space outside and there are lots of tvs.  The only thing you have to contend with is limiting your party to the tables that don't move so you can't combine them, and having to overhear the music at Frog n' Firkin, which can be awful live Dave Matthews type stuff.

The pizza flavors are awesome.  Aside from your regular choices you also have pesto pizza and buffalo chicken pizza.  And they're open late so you can go partying on weekends and get a slice after last call.

The soda machine weirdos me out, but it's interesting.  You get ice. You get soda. And then you get a flavor shot: vanilla, cherry, lemon, or lime.  I like novelties like this.  It makes up for the crappy parking situation.

I never thought I would like this place.  I usually only go to frog, then one day, I ended up here.  Now I come back everytime I am in town.

The pizza was actually tasty, which suprised me for reasons I don't feel like explaining. I always get the meat one, or just pepperoni.  And it tastes so refreshing to wash away everything with a pitcher of beer, all of which is available  at a completely reasonable price.

The weekends or especially game day gets real packed.  The past saturday, I real like the music they had pumping through the speakers.  Had me wanting to dance like all the young college kids around me.  I want the playlist.

Overall a solid place.  Nice prices, fun atmosphere.

Ok so I have been going down for pizza before the footballs games for years. I recently have been coming to No Anchovies more and more and it's really growing on me. The only reason it has to grow on me was that I saw this place being built when I was in school and it really sucked before. Harsh words but I went a few time back in 97-98 and this place was average at best.  I spent most of my time next door to my still favorite Frog and saying why can't No Anchovies be something like them.

Fast forward it 15 years and no No Anchovies is the place to be and I can see why! Now it's right on par with Frog and I'm alright with that! First off the outdoor patio is rocking with music, TVs, and they have a full bar with amazing craft beers. Very good prices on them too. Back in the 90s (wow I sound old!) and there was nothing like that back then. But the pizza was always just average in my memories but now I. Really starting to like No Anchovies pizza too.

Anyways I will come back here and it makes me happy that University drive now has two great places to relax or watch a game and eat great pizza and craft beers.

The pizza is decently priced. Thin crust with lots of options on the menu. We tried the Hot Wing pizza and Classic combo pizza as well as the loaded tots. The loaded tots was a great start to the meal. Crispy, freshly fried tots topped with all the good stuff (bacon, cheese, etc). The pizzas were both good. Can't go wrong with classic combo and then the hot wing was different but tasty. It's kinda creamy so richer than your average pizza, but I love creamy/cheesy so I liked it.

Pretty cheap drink and beer specials.

We were there in the afternoon and it was HOT! Literally, they only have some fans going with the open space so be prepared to be a little warm. I'm sure the extra beers didn't help that.

    Next time: baked potato pizza!

I love this place. When I was in college I probably went here once a week. It's really cheap to get a slice of pizza and a fountain soda. And the selections are awesome. I generally go for whichever one has pesto on it, but over the years I've tried a bunch and I don't think I've ever been disappointed.

They've definitely been upgrading the space itself since I arrived on campus in 2003 and everything has certainly been for the better.

If you're with some people and you all want your own unique slice and perhaps a beverage with some alcohol stop in.

As soon as I laid my eyes on my baked potato pizza visceral memories of my Sparty days at Michigan State University were evoked.  Baked potato pizza from Georgio's is near and dear to my heart.  So, bless you, No Anchovies for offering up, what is truly heaven to me.  Food is intimate- you touch it, taste it, smell it and the feeling it provides, bonds us to places and to one another.  I cannot recall the numerous times my friends and I bonded (usually around 3am, from late night cram sessions, not because of yard long skip and go nakeds, clearly) over a baked potato pizza.

Usually, when I tell people I love baked potato pizza they look at me quizzically.  I explain that it is a thin crust pizza with no sauce, sliced baked potato, green onion, loads of bacon, colby jack and provolone cheese.  I personally top mine with sour cream...No Anchovies tried this out but found ranch sold better.  They use redskin potato, I think I prefer a russet....but I am not complaining.

Since I had such HIGH expectations, I feared a major let down....however, this pizza delivered!  Trust me go big or go home, get the 20 inch!  If you do not, you will be back in a few days to get more.  This is one pizza I actually like to reheat, actually the only pizza.  Warning:  A 20 inch pie will run you $25.25.....but it is worth every cent.

Since I had a 40 minute drive home, I also got a slice of the hotwing pizza.  (don't judge it was 8 at night and I was famished) I love that you can order slices!  And I think the slices are large.  Usually, I shy away from chicken on pizza, because honestly, places rarely do not use precooked chicken...and the chicken is always off.  NOT HERE!  This was cooked with love....long and slow in the hot wing sauce until they could shred the chicken with a fork.  Ranch was the base of the sauce and blue cheese crumbles set this slice off!  I could have used a little more blue cheese- but I am a fromage fanatic.

I was so bummed when I arrived because the patio was jamming (I ordered a carry out)...loads of people and their dogs were enjoying cocktails and pizza while relishing in the weekend, while being misted by fans....every near by patio was packed, most had live music, and the misting fans are the complete opposite of the patios in Michigan...we are batting away mosquitoes and crowding around heat lamps.  i cannot wait to bring my betrothed and soak in the downtown atmosphere....and more importantly get more pizza!

Boyfriend wanted to get a slice of pizza, so we went around 8:30pm on a Tuesday.

Yes, it's a typical loud, crowded undergrad hangout. I can deal with that. What I couldn't deal with was the disgusting ice-cold slice of pizza they served me. The cheese was congeling. I complained to the guy at the register, and his solution was to pop it back in the oven. He refused me a slice of the hot, fresh cheese pizza that had just come out.

I was refused a fresh slice of pizza.

If this is what No Anchovies is serving, I'll pass. For good pizza by the slice, my first preference is Time Market followed by Brooklyn pizza.

    No Anchovies? No thanks.

It can get busy on a game day, but this really is one of the best options on University Ave.  I frequented this spot during my one-year stint at U of A (before transferring), and when I returned a couple of weekends ago I found that it hadn't changed a bit.  Except that there's now alcohol to be had... which I suppose I wouldn't know was a change or not, since I was only 17 on my last visit!

We landed here twice in one day, first time for an afternoon beer on the patio and the second for late-night pizza and... more beer.

I liked No Anchovies' pizza so much that I ate it for dinner and then again 6 hours later around 2 am, and it was great both times. Service was quick & the patio is a nice spot to hang out. Probably the only gross/bad thing is that smoking is allowed in the patio (being from California, it's a foreign concept to me) which does not go well with food.

No Anchovies has a good variety of yummy vegetarian specialty pizza slices, though the plain cheese was my second favorite. Their crust is really good - thin but still crispy. My favorite was the Mediterranean, probably because there were huge gobs of pesto all over it which when reheated in their over gave the crust kind of fried like texture (yum). Then my second favorite was the cheese - good amounts of cheese, yummy sauce, good crust, and only $2.50 for a slice. The Tabano was good but nothing too special. There was a very red slice that I really didn't like because it just tasted too strongly of acid (from all the tomato) but can't remember what it was called (it was one of the 2 am slices...).

As good as it gets for pizza, beers, and great people! The slices are incredible and with the eleventy-billion kinds, it never gets old.  Plus there are salads that are delicious.
Good variety of beers on tap as well as any drink you could possibly imagine.  All the bartenders I've had are phenomenal and the cute blond girl can make a yummy fun shot with only the directions, "make me something that will taste good, and I don't like vodka"
The Tvs outside make it a perfect place to catch a game.  I have found a chill small crowd for Sunday night football which is nice and a crazy fun crowd for U of A games.
I have never come across anyone who works here who sucks, from the door guy, the pizza guy, or the bartender girl.  Something about the family-like crew here makes this place always feel like home regardless of how infrequently I come.

This place is on University Blvd, which says a lot about what you can reasonably expect from a place whose customer base is 99% college kids. The music is a bit too loud inside and I have had troubled hearing/speaking to the register worker when ordering because of it. The bar area is incredibly small, but the outdoors section is very large and accommodating. I find it reasonably clean when considering how many people go through the place every day.

I also greatly appreciate it that the bartender is stringent in checking ID's... I had a friend sitting outside, watching our dogs, and he was firm about seeing her and her ID before serving us beer. He was also very friendly when I requested his advice on choosing a beer (since I don't drink it often) and selected something for me that I ended up really enjoying.

I don't find most of their "specialty" pizzas appetizing - many of them are very greasy. But... the Mediterranean pizza is absolutely outstanding! Artichoke hearts, feta, pesto, tomatoes... cooked to perfection every time. Even my steak-and-potatoes boyfriend admits that it's really, really good. Also, it keeps well - the crust maintains its integrity and the ingredients are fresh when the pizza is served, which makes a big difference when eating it after refrigeration.

This is actually a great place to bring your dog... Many people do so; you can almost always see at least one pup in the outdoor seating area. It's nice to be able to bring him with me! My friend and I have had wonderful lunch dates, bringing our dogs along so that they can socialize too instead of sitting at home alone.

On a recent trip to Tucson, I was referred to this place as a good pizza place.  It really didn't impress me.  The sauce had little to no flavor and they use a cheap grade of cheese.

I figure I'll give it one more try on a different night to see if it's any better.  As for atmosphere, it's more of a sports bar type place with an outdoor seating patio.

Good hangout for the college kids.

    Gourmet? Ha!

No Anchovies is a sports bar, not a pizzeria. What makes no anchovies great is the beer selection, outside seating, and sports broadcasting. Reheated pizza with decent toppings is just the plus. The location is a campus hot spot. It is convenient and fast. These are the qualities that should be emphasized.

No Anchovies has some of the best pizza you are going to find in Tucson.

Being from the Tri-state area in the Northeast, pizza is taken very seriously and is pretty much great everywhere you go. Now, for some reason, Arizona can't make pizza (or bagels, or sandwiches, or any "real" food for that matter) for shit. But No Anchovies is as close as it comes. Brooklyn Pizza on 4th avenue however is pure garbage and is an embarrassment to New Yorkers.

The gourmet pizza slices and the beers are best part of the restaurant, and the atmosphere is open, clean and fun. If you are looking for somewhere to watch a game, this place offers a great environment being that they have big screen TV's inside and outside. The staff is also always friendly and happy. Great place for Tucson and the best place on University Ave.

Dude... so good. No Anchovies is probably my favorite pizza place in town. I go for the gourmet slices because, where else are you gonna get that!? No plain cheese please. The slices are huge and are loaded up with toppings. They offer strange variations of pizza that are great too. Things like teriyaki sauce instead of tomato with beef with peppers. Or slices with buffalo sauce and chicken. Too good! I'm counting down the days till my 21st so I can finally grab a beer with my pizza!

The student coupon book also has a bunch of coupons for this place, so stock up!

    Mmm chovies.

There are two kinds of people that go to the U of A. Frog people and Chovies people... battle lines have been drawn.

my advice open a tab at the bar (get a pint) then order your pizza or do the opposite, order your pizza then belly up to the bar and wait.... you can not close your tab (if there is alcohol on it) at the pizza register.

Good pizza here. Specialty slices are well done, pretty interesting stuf, I definitely don't mind going here with friends to grab a slice or two. I usually get the buffalo chicken pizza and a cheese slice.

Sometimes they warm up the slice in the oven and really mess it up. I mean, I like a warm firm on the outside, but chewy on the inside crust. However, there have been way too many times where I have gotten something completely off the mark and I ended up eating it just because I'm not the type of person to whine about food, they'd end up throwing my slice anyways if I told them.

The pricing isn't very fair, for $5-6 you should be able to get 1 specialty, 1 cheese, and a drink or something like that. I like to be full when I get lunch. Chipotle is right across the street and for $6 I can get a burrito that will fill me up better than this place. Its a cool place to hang out if you want to watch a game with friends, but that's about it.

So we were out watching Boston get the crap beat out of them by the Lakers, our first choice was Frog and Firkin. Let's just say not a good experience, we left.

We sit at the bar and I look over at the pizza to decide what I want to try. We ordered the feta, spinach and tomato again. This time it was very good. It had pesto on it as well. The flavor was there and I was happy. I also tried the Hawaiian which was also delicious.

All in all I was happy that the pizza has come back from being unflavorful to being yummy.

Oh No Anchovies, how I love thee.  This is one of my favorite pizza places in the ENTIRE world.  And many things contribute to it.

    1. The pizza: this is an obvious one, but I need to gush.  For some god awful reason, I used to not care for pizza...but No Anchovies turned that all around for me, and now pizza is one of my favorite meals (it was a slippery slope).  I've tried a bunch of their slices and my favorites are the hot wing (you must dip it in ranch) and cheese (old trusty).  However the others that are scrumptious are potato, white pie, spinach/tomato/feta, supreme/classic, and all american chicken.

    2.  The location: right in the heart of University, right next door to Frog (another one of my favorite eateries).  The restaurant was transformed from an old house which gives it a ton of personality.  It's the perfect place to sit with a group of friends and people watch while you eat a couple slices and down a couple beers.

    3.  The people: I love the people that work here (and during my college years I always had a crush on at least one of the No Anchovies boys).  They're cool and laid-back, making friendly conversation with great customer service. I also love the people that dine here; it's a great mix of hipsters, sorority girls, and Tucson locals...everyone is accepted and given a big group hug upon arrival.

I can't wait to hit this place up next time I'm in town.

I LOVE love LOVE going to No Anchovies when I'm in Tucson.  It's on a buzzing college town street: University, right next to the UofA, and I always feel like I'm going to run into someone I know (even though I don't know all too many people in Tucson)--and (surprisingly) often do.

The style of the restaurants on the south side of University is great--mostly old houses which have converted their porches and front yards into great outdoor seating areas.

No anchovies is a great place to grab a beer-or a few shots (they have a full bar inside)-and some slices of yummy pizza.

The outdoor seating is plentiful and tree-canopied and there is some indoor seating too.

You order your pizza slices and any sodas at a counter on the east side of No Anchovies, the west half of the restaurant is the bar.  It is never a wait, even when it's crowded.

The pizza is very very good--always with a lot of vegetarian options and veggie/pesto/fresh mozzarella/artichoke hearts loaded pizza-yum!.  They heat up whatever slices you want in the pizza oven (which at other places can make the crust too tough and the toppings too sloppy, but here it doesn't at all!)

It's always a good time; with affable staff, good food, and an enjoyable crowd.

    PS
It's all ages until 10pm (at which point it becomes 21+)

I love a creative pizza, and No Anchovies has some great ones.

My cousin is a regular and took us for a slice during our visit to Tucson.  He explained that the staff makes the pizza they feel like making and nothing else.  We tried the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and what I think was a Thai Chicken Pizza. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza was topped with shredded chicken breast that had been soaked in Buffalo sauce. It was divine.

The bartender was super friendly and when he realized we were from out of state was quick to highlight local breweries and make recommendations.

If I lived in Tucson, I would surely be a regular!

There were stretches in my U of A days where No Anchovies was my primary form of sustenance.

It's not really for having the best pizza in the world, although it does have a huge array of big, quality California style pizzas by the slice that never get old. But its the combination of the historic house it grew into, the even more historic vegetation that provides the patio shelter, the European soccer they usually have on, a cold Nimbus, and an amazing Arizona afternoon which accompany the pizza that made this one of my favorite spots to waste a couple hours.
