I wasn't really feeling the dance floor at all. I guess for me, I wanted a circle of people battling but it just didn't happen. I'll definitely give the DJ the night we went props. He mixed modern dance songs with some classics, so there were a mix of just straight up dancing and nostalgia. There's a military discount as well during the club nights, so military can get in for free. Unfortunately, just being a medical student, I didn't get any benefit at all.
The drinks are pretty standard, there's a pretty decent bar to get your drink on. I don't know why, but the moment my friends and I started relaxing at the patio, a group of Asian college students kept on staring at me and my friend as if they never saw other Asians in Arizona. That was kind of strange. This place is also located near a bunch of other bars, so it's great to bar hop at.
So the verdict? It's pretty standard, nothing really stands out, but it doesn't mean it's bad at all. You get exactly what's expected from a bar with a small dance floor in the back.
However, I'd rather try new places if I ever come back to Tucson because of the fact that nothing stands out.
DDD Crew stop #4 on our Dia de los Padres Muertos adventure. Wasn't feelin' it...er...smellin' it. Walked in and my olfactory system was assaulted with an odd mixture of cleaning supplies and spice. Kind of a bleach, pine, cinnamon and clove smell. My girls noticed it too.
Saddled up to the bar and discussed turning to leave but didn't want to be completely rude so we all ordered a shot. Down it and get out the door. A couple of girls ordered Jaeger and two of us asked the bartender to surprise us with something that wasn't sweet. She combined Fireball and Crown - really good!
I'm sure O'Malleys is a great place to hang out but maybe when they aren't cooking up a big smelly pot of either the house specialty or floor cleaner.
