Take fantastic sea food and combine it with a casual neighborhood bar and you get Offshore's. This place is epitome of local. The food is amazing and the customer service is right on par. It was my first time here last week and I already felt like a regular.

You MUST try the gumbo if you come to Offshore's. If you don't order the gumbo when you're here, then you're just doing it wrong. Cajun pasta is an easy win but you pretty much can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

They have a Fish Burrito (grilled or fried) that is great!  Most of the food here is spicy, so check with your wait staff before you order.

Fried asparagus can't be beat, but the fried crawfish is my favorite. Of course with Peticolas Golden Opp on tap, you can't go wrong! Offshores anytime, LakeHouse - once was enough for me.

This place, oh this place... It was a while ago that we visited, but we had read good things on yelp/urbansppon so we were like HEY, a new place to check out in the neighborhood.  Decided to order a bunch of appetizers...now I love frogs legs, absolutely love them.  These were possibly the worst thing I have ever eaten in a restaurant, ever.  I just, couldn't.  I even said that they were inedible to our server, then I guess it was the manager that came by and asked how they were and I told her...not that it mattered, we were charged for them anyway.  The grease that all the fried food was fried in tasted RANCID.  Our bill with drinks was over $60!!!  We were in shock.  Expensive and disgusting.  Whenever we drive by, I ask my husband if he wants to go to "Offshore's Backdoor" and we laugh and laugh.  NEVER AGAIN.  Sad cause we really wanted to like this place... When a customer is dissatisfied and you do nothing, I guess you don't want them to ever come back.  Well, okay then!

Offshores continues to deliver friendly service, consistently quick service, and some good cocktails to boot.

For some reason, Thursday nights (every few weeks) is my night to take my two boys there for a bite.  They like the cajun burger, I usually snag the blackened crawfish po boy, with the home fries.

Traffic (read: customers) has been up recently, which is a great sign.  This odd little shopping center needs some TLC, but I'm very glad that Offshores is holding the fort quite well.

Don't forget great happy hour specials...and follow them on Facebook for additional special notices!

Love this little bar and it is in my soon to be neighborhood...  Exactly 27 days to be exact.  Service was great, outside seating, mall little place that reminds me of hole in the walls on the beach.

Wasn't impressed with the food, so I'll be doing only drinking there!  My bf and I will be regulars for sure since its going to be walking distance to our neighborhood!

I love this place! The food is great. Please bring back the tilapia!!!  The service can be a little slow at times but hey kick back and let the day roll off!  That is what this place is. The calamari is the best and so is the fried shrimp. The salads are fresh and delicious!  Just enjoy your time.

We tried Offshore's last night. The boys got some White Castle (yes folks, WHITE CASTLE) burgers. They were a hit! Hubby got the Ahi Tuna sandwich which he enjoyed & I had the catfish basket. They batter the fish in flour, which isn't right for this girl, but the fish had great flavor and the home fries & hush puppies were tasty! We loved the atmosphere & will most definitely be back!

I wish the food here was more consistent, because this place is right in our neighborhood.  Sometimes the fish seems fresh, and sometimes it has freezer burn.  The side offerings appeared to be out of a can, and the service can be a little too laid back as well.  Like I said, sometimes the fish has been good, but everything here appears to need some tweaking in order to have a loyal customer base.

I love a good local joint!

The hubs and I went after work one day to grab a beer and it was great! I felt like I was all of a sudden transformed to the Caribbean! I loved it and felt so relaxed!

Not many people were there yet, but it was still early. Our bartender was super nice and conversational (but not overly). We decided to order the fried asparagus since we had heard they were delicious...and they were! They were fresh and crunchy and not at all too greasy. I was so happy!

Can't wait to take the kids back and sit outside.

The service was excellent and it was a nice clean place, which I would rate that 5 stars. The food was ok, I got the Chicken sandwich with the "Cajun fries". The "Cajun fries" had to much seasoning on them, which after a while that was all i initially tasted the blackened seasoning from the chicken sandwich and the fries. I think great food shouldn't have to be drowned in sauces or spices. I'll still give it another try (food wise), although I am not entirely sold on the food, I would defiantly return because the service was wonderful, they had Abita beer on tap and the decor is nice.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to like this place, and we REALLY need a place like this in our 'hood.   I have never written a bad review before, but here I am, and only b/c I was pretty much brushed off by the staff here about my concerns.  The relaxed atmosphere and perfect patio were awesome.  The cold Abita was also awesome.  I won't go into the food, b/c after our last visit I won't be eating there until some changes are made.

Don't be on the patio when it gets dark, unless you don't mind the resident mice visiting you.  Yes, mice and yes, resident, b/c apparently the staff has named them.  I know, I know, it's outside, but if they are outside they are inside and I've never seen them at any other patio in Dallas.  I'm pretty sure restaurants do everything in their power to keep them away.  Not sure why Offshores needs to keep them around and name them.

The next big issue that doesn't sit well is a sign outside of the bathroom that says something to the effect of "Don't flush any paper down the toilet.  It clogs up the plumbing.  Don't blame us, blame the Landlord".  WHAT?  I'm not supposed to flush paper down the toilet?  That's really gross!  It doesn't designate paper towels or feminine products, either.  Did I totally read that wrong?!  If I did, then please change the sign to say that.  Oh, and the ladies' room door doesn't lock.  No girl likes the feeling of no privacy.

Owner:  I can't imagine how hard it must be to run a restaurant in this part of Dallas in this economy.  But it's the little (BIG) things that really turn people off.  I want to come here and enjoy a cold one and hang out, but I have given it two visits and that's all I can do until there are some changes made.  I REALLY hope you do, b/c I think this could be a knock-out-of-the-park for you and our neighborhood.

My first visit last Friday the 8th was a random drop in with no idea really of what to expect.  I had a couple of beers and was given a sample of the habanero ranch.  This was so good that I made a point of going back this past Monday the 11th.  The beer was ice cold, and I had a split basket of fried asparagus and mushrooms with the Habanero ranch.  Both were great but the fried asparagus was OUTSTANDING!

I then ordered (to go) the Ahi tuna and the blackened Tilapia for my wife and I to have for dinner.  WOW, the tuna with the coleslaw was like nothing I ever have had.  My wife had the tilapia on a bed of pasta with a pesto sauce.  She loved it but said it was way too much food.  No problem - I got to have the leftovers today for lunch.  Tuna is still my favorite but the tilapia and pasta was great.  Mouth is watering just thinking about it - cant wait to go back.

I did chat with others at the bar so I had help or suggestions regarding what to order.  The service was great, but I was sitting at the bar.  But judging from other patrons (2 families among others)  I think everyone was happy.

They have a very decent beer selection. Two abitas on draft, and a full shelf for bottled beer behind the bar. I had a bottle of  milk stout from Left Hand Brewing Co. which was tasty. Starts tart, then mostly simple, lighter and sweet, stout flavor.

Michael, our waiter, was the best part of the evening after my beers. He was a little quiet, but very pleasant and personable. Everything else was pretty awful for one reason or another.

The dishes were either offensively small, frozen or ill prepared. There was very little to redeem our meal beside the beer selection.

We ordered what, on the menu, said "HUGE shrimp cocktail". It was not HUGE. There were only 5 shrimp. It was not a shrimp cocktail. They were cocktail shrimp, plain and boiled, on lettuce with a lemon wedge. There was some cocktail sauce on the side. $11

The seafood gumbo had no seafood in it, and barely any andouille. A cup was about the size of a small queso dish, 4oz of soup at most. It tasted more like canned chili. $4

The jalapeno bottlecaps were decent, but they were McCain's frozen foods, I know because I've had them in my freezer before. The blackened tilapia was also from frozen. The crawfish in my etouffe were from frozen. The vegetables on the side of my etouffee were very obviously frozen stir fry vegetables, with some garlic butter on top.

While the jalapenos and tilapia were cooked properly, the crawfish was stringy and the veggies were mushy.

Use this place as a bar, and you'll be happy. Order some fried food a few beers in, and you might be happy. But don't go for dinner here.

Wow, this was such a baffling experience. This was the worst food I have had in a restaurant without it being so bad that I can send it back and expect something better.

My boyfriend and I came here tonight, deciding to try it after I realized that Alligator Cafe was closed on Mondays after 5 and we had a disappointing lunch at Dodie's.

After looking at the menu on their website we thought we would start with some grilled alligator, and ordered this immediately upon being seated. Our waiter, Mike, was new, and returned back pretty quickly, apologizing and saying they had run out of alligator and frog legs. That was fine, in fact it foolishly made me sort of think, oh cool, then everything must be fresh.

After thinking for a minute we ordered a bowl of gumbo, the huge shrimp cocktail, and the bottlecaps (which were a special on the board,) for appetizers and my boyfriend ordered the crawfish etouffee with hush puppies and veggies while I ordered the daily special blackened tilapia with veggies. Our second mistake (the first being coming here at all,) was ordering all at once, and not eating our appetizers before deciding we did not in fact want to eat a real meal there.

The "huge shrimp cocktail," came out and was in fact, 5 fairly large shrimp, cooked through on a plate with cocktail sauce in a cup and a lemon slice.  This was confusing as it was not a shrimp cocktail but rather cocktail shrimp, it was also confusing because at 10.95 this meant that each shrimp cost about 2.20. Each shrimp. This either requires much more elaborate shrimp flavoring or much much larger shrimp.

My bowl of gumbo came out and was actually a cup, and was charged as such. It was served in a small dip bowl, like one a side order of queso comes in, or perhaps some lemon slices for you water might be brought out in. That was the first odd part. The second was that this 4 dollar cup of seafood gumbo had no seafood in it at all, and was clearly made with the jarred or boxed gumbo base and some frozen veggies, and had two tiny (think sliced vienna sausage sized,) pieces of meat, that may or may not have at one time have andouille sausage. We finished this, mostly because we both went back for bites trying to find seafood and because I was trying to identify the familiar boxed gumbo base flavor.

The bottlecaps were clearly frozen and flash fried, something I don't really hold against them, though they were priced at about 5 dollars, for what amounted to a cup and a half of frozen jalapeno slices they fried up in a few minutes and slung out with some ranch.

Ha! I found literally what they were!
    <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.foodservicedirect.com%2Fproduct.cfm%2Fp%2F150440%2FMcCain-Brew-City-Beer-Battered-Jalapeno-Bottle-Caps-2.5-Pound.htm&s=63e523607f53889d910ac60af4a175a3af7308bbad54c357c49d8767f782cf3e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.foodservicedi…</a>

We quietly whispered about our anger/confusion, and I grilled my boyfriend on the yelp reviews that had lead us here. Listening to the good reggae and glancing around to notice that everyone else was just drinking beers from their decent selection I had to assume other yelpers just reviewed the bar.

When our entrees came out I quietly laughed. My tilapia was good, though I could have made it at home for much cheaper with a tiny bit of blackened seasoning and properly defrosted tilapia.

The vegetables were what I had laughed at, they were clearly the oriental frozen veggie mix, overcooked, though truly it is hard to cook those properly, with a little garlic butter as seasoning. When I tasted my boyfriends etoufee I once again had that, hmm, this is okay, and veeery familiar feeling. That is because I had made it before, when trying all the boxed bases for etouffee with my best friend in high school. I am not sure which it was, but I am sure it was not made in house. There were very few crawfish tails in it (around a dozen,) and that was truly for the better as they were the poor quality frozen kind tat turn to semi-crawfish flavored mush. The hushpuppies were also from frozen, and I think they are a type I used to find at Target, back in those "we are too poor for restaurants let's fake etouffee,"-days. They were just called Gourmet Hushpuppies if I recall properly.

Oh a wonderful topper, the griddle bread slices that came to sop up his etouffee were made with whole wheat hamburger buns.

Actually the true topper was this meal cost us 50 something dollars, with two beers (which were both great and fairly reasonably priced.)

Small but varied beer selection on tap, had purple haze and abita amber when I was there, so at least some variation from your domestic stables.

Fried asparagas was fantastic, and so were both po-boys me and the wife had.

Their batter for frying was superb, very well seasoned, and complementary to the items it covered.

It ain't fancy, its just plain good.

The first impression was great - all the doors open because it was a nice, March evening. Greeting was friendly and casual. The back yard has a beautiful vine with orange flowers growing all over and a cute garden of plants.

They had Miller Lite, Purple Haze and Abita Amber on draft - yummy.

The wait staff was attentive but not annoying. We enjoyed fried asparagus to start - most excellent. I highly recommend this. My only regret is that I didn't try any other appetizers.

Their po-boys are on delicious bread, freshly toasted on the griddle. I had the fried catfish po-boy and my husband had the grilled catfish po-boy. Both were very fresh tasting and a step up from what you'd think at a glance of the little neighborhood joint. I want to come back and try an item on the menu under "Real Nice Stuff". They've got someone back there that can really cook.

I highly recommend this place. I'm coming back and am bringing people with me.

This is a great little neighborhood Cajun joint and I should know 'cause my family is from New Orleans. Went with my mom, my hubby and my son. All of the food was fresh and delicious.

We were there early on a Friday night (about 5 PM.) and there was only one other table, but it filled up quickly and it is very kid friendly.

My only complaint would be that the waiter wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu and was a bit slow, but he said that he was new, so I'll give him a break this time.

All the adults got the Fried Combo Basket. It was supposed to include shrimp, crawfish, oysters and catfish, but they didn't have oysters because of the gulf oil spill. They allowed us to substitute with whichever of the other three we wanted. It was way too much food. Next time we will only buy one or two combos and split them. The combos were $15.95. My son got the the fried chicken strips with waffle fries which was only $3.95.

I can't wait to go back and try other dishes on their menu.  Their prices range from $6.95 for a chicken sandwhich (grill or fried) to $23.95 for a blackened ribeyed smothered in crawfish etouffe.

They have a fryer and know how to use it.  Or should I say they know how to use their fry batter.  The onion rings, fried asparagus and catfish were all fresh, and fried to perfection in their battered concoction.  Indeed, the best fried stuff I've had in Dallas.  Now, I also had a cup of the gumbo.  The taste was right, but the texture more resembled beanless chili with some rice thrown in?  No okra, or whole shrimps, or pieces of fish, chicken or sausage were to be found.  Once again, it was some good gumbo, but not like I'm used to.

Considering we live right around the corner, I'm sorry that it took us this long to finally venture inside.  As other reviewers have noted, the restaurant is in an otherwise vacant corner/strip mall, and the restaurant itself looks closed at first glimpse.  It is, however, a great little neighborhood dive, with great food to boot.  In true small place fashion, they only had enough gin to make me one G&T, on a Friday night?  That cost them a star in this review.  Otherwise, come on up to hip, on the verge, Lake Highlands and check it out!

Probably the worst 50 bucks I have spent in a long time,  I had the salmon which was a fairly small piece and came floating in some kind of crawfish cream sauce. It was so peppery I could barely get it down not to mention it was way over cooked.  My wife has a salad with ahi tuna fillet on top, was also over cooked and super dry.  Waiter forgot dressing.  Also had asparagus appetizer was deep fried but was pretty good.  I'll never understand why some restaurants feel that the more spice they put on the better.  It only ruins the food and in this case was no different.  Two draft beer (dos equis) with tip was just over 50 bucks, seriously?  Was not happy at all.   Will not be back. Seats were also not cushioned in booths just large flat boards.

Cute, clean place hidden in a nondescript parking lot full of vacant store fronts.  I had yummy fried asparagus and a coupla red stripes.  He had a crab po boy.

Recommended for beer and good grub.
Reggae music.  Big screen TVs. Beach vibe.

This was our first time here. It's very nice inside, comfortable and inviting. It also has a small patio area outside. The food was good but not great. I got the blackened shrimp po'boy which I liked very much. What I didn't like were the Cajun fries. The seasoning was too thick and it just didn't work for me. I didn't care for the seasoning in the slaw either. My partner had the fried combo platter which was pretty generic. It wasn't seasoned very well. We did order very basic items but if you can't do the basics well then I'm a little skeptical of trying anything else. Given that the po'boy was pretty good we might come back to try a few of the specialty dishes and see if they can win us over.

    GET THE ONION RINGS!
I'm talkin' five stars on that, certainly some of the best in my 35 years in Dallas.  Now on to the three-star review...
This was an excellent local eatery when it first opened a couple years ago, but my last two visits have been less-than-stellar.
First tip:  Stay away until 7pm, unless you're bringing screaming out-of-control kids of your own.  Many charming Lake Highlands parents come here to couple-date but abandon their parenting skills.
Second tip: Stick with the basics: their Gumbo, Jambalaya (which is really great), and their Fried Catfish are all excellent.  The Red-beans and Rice were dry, but very tasty.  Other dishes of note are their Ahi-tuna Club, though ask for their super-hot dressing on the side.  I'm a big fan of spicy food, but there was just too much glopped on there and it killed the sandwich.
Last tip:  Get professional.  I like the reggae on the juke, but the stoner-movie server?  Not so much.  And figure out if the bar serves patrons or is just a staging area.  You'd do better taking it out and putting in more tables.

Nice little neighborhood watering hole, with surprisingly decent grub. Jambalaya and the catfish are no brainers, and are plenty big for even the heartiest eater.

Nice little outdoor seating section allows the kids to be kids without spoiling other folks' time.  The service is good, but can be a bit slow - just a heads up.

Please read my other reviews to get an Idea of what I'm comparing this place too.

1st. -- The gumbo and red beans and rice where unique and great -- I finished both cups easily.

2nd -- the fried catfish basket which fed two of us with leftovers was the best catfish I have had in Texas -- perfectly fried --lightly and the fish was bursting with flavor and taste -- GREAT WORK A MUST TRY -- also make sure to order along with hushpuppies -- they are a must

If you don't like the top two items I have outlined please just stick to long john silver's or McDonalds fish sandwich.

Also as I side note of interest I asked who owned the restaurant and I found out it was the chef -- who I met before I left. It confirmed the fact this is a down home non-chain cooking -- It was definitely worth the trip and I highly recommend.

It also has a full bar and beer garden for drinkers -- always a plus

FYI -- I noticed some of the non-stellar reviews ordered the wrong items -- stick with the basics I have outlined above

Soooo disappointing. After glowing reviews, we were looking forward to trying out this new haunt in the Lake Highlands area. Alas, we weren't even sure we were in the same restaurant, based on our experience.

Service: Overwhelmed and underwhelming. Two servers for the entire restaurant, including outdoors, and they just couldn't pull it off. We waited 20 minutes for simple cups of gumbo, had to go up to the bar to get refills on our drinks, and heard the poor server apologize to multiple tables all night long.

Food: Everything we had tasted the same: Too hot and too acidic. The gumbo tasted as if it had been stretched with tomato sauce; there was no hint of a roux of any kind, and hardly any fish or sausage. Plus it was so spicy that our lips went numb. The fish tacos were seasoned exactly the same way. At least the rice that went with them wasn't blistering, but it was seasoned the same way. We both hit the antacids as soon as we got home, and it wasn't any fun the next morning either.

I don't know if I can go back and give them a second chance. I sure hope we just got unlucky.

We found this via Yelp after I've been frantically looking for anything resembling actual Cajun food in Dallas. Being from Houston, these joints are a dime a dozen, but not so much here.
Offshore's is definitely in a part of Dallas where, judging by the worried expression on my pregnant wife's face, isn't the best location, but once you get inside, our fears alleviated. It fun yet sparse. Too cold to enjoy the outdoor patio, the inside is small, but accessible and we were able to easily seat ourselves even at 7 on a Friday night.
The waitstaff was nice and laid back.
I had jambalaya and my wife had Cajun pasta with shrimp. Both were spicy and pretty good. Didn't knock our socks off, but I don't mean that to sound as harsh as it does. It was good just not one of those "holy cow, that was the best meal ever!" moments. The garlic toast that came with the pasta was really good as were the hushpuppies.
This IS one of those hidden dive-type restaurants that's fun with friends for a few beers and Cajun grub.
There's a lot more on the menu that I'd be tempted to try, but I just wanted to get the standards out of the way.

This is a great place with an unfortunate location in the fine-dining deprived Lake Highlands area.  The landlord of this center is apparently out to lunch but he should stop in Offshores for lunch and maybe he would get inspired.  Located in a former BBQ restaurant they have made the place feel and look great on the inside and the staff is warm and friendly.
This is good cajun food with very fresh ingredients and I would recommend all the fried items, especially the fried asparagus.  Last time I had the spinach salad with  salmon fillet and an excellent ginger vinaigrette.
Stop in and support the good work they are doing here, especially if you are a Lake Highlands resident.  It looks somewhat forlorn from the outside but that is mainly due to the lack of expensive signage and the derelict adjacent buildings, but they have made the best of it with a cozy patio and authentic southern coastal american ambience.  Enjoy a cold beer and some flavorful seafood here soon!

I have been to Offshore twice with my family and gotten take out several times. The food is great. Jambalaya is spicy and authentic. The fried shrimp is great. It is hard to decide between the habenaro ranch and the jalapeno tartar sauce to dip those big, yummy shrimp in.
Also, the red beans and rice are a favorite of mine every time.

In all fairness I must disclose I know the owner of Offshore's Nextdoor. I hope no one thinks this is a fluff review. I just wouldn't bother writing a review if I didn't think the restaurant deserved one.

I had been in New Orleans three weeks prior to my visit to Offshore's Nextdoor so I had a strong craving for cajun food. This place is way out of the way for me but I happened to be in the area.

We started with the fried calamari which was crisp and crunchy - no limp rubberbands like most other places. The two dipping sauces each had a punch that complimented.

I had the blackened crawfish po-boy with hush puppies and cajun fries. The sandwhich was full of flavor and I kinda wished it was bigger but by the end of the meal I was stuffed. I enjoyed my cajun fries by dipping them in habanero ranch ~ so yummy.

My dining partner had the jambalaya with andouille sausage with sides of cajun fries and cole slaw. The jambalaya had a dark rue which was full of flavor. My dining partner, who also was in New Orleans, commented that the jambalaya was better at Offshore's Nextdoor than some of the jambalaya we ate in New Orleans.

Oddly, Dallas has very few decent cajun food restaurants but this place is a can't miss when craving cajun.

I love this place. The ambient and music is great but what keeps me coming back of course is the food. It can be difficult to find if you don't know where it is, but the red beans & rice, fried asparagus, giant onion rings, blackened ribeye smothered (and I mean SMOTHERED) in crawfish etouffee, cajun pasta, jumbo shrimp ravioli, etc... (I'll stop here, I could go on forever)... make it well worth the search.

(Note: Jumbo Shrimp Ravioli is usually one of the specials on the board, it's not on the menu)

The jambalaya is really good. Now I'm not a Jambalaya expert, it's not a dish I usually get so I don't have much to compare it to, but I know several people, who really know their food, that are from or frequent New Orleans say it's hands down the best Jambalaya they've ever had. I think that's pretty good.

Personally I can't go there with out ordering their red beans & rice as a starter. My wife and I share a bowl every time we go and saturate it with tabasco. But the fried asparagus is ridiculous as well as the onion rings, so those are recommended too.

I live about 1/2 a mile from this place and I go about once every week or two so I've had just about everything on the menu. But it was tonight that put me over the edge and made me decide to step up and write my first review ever for any restaurant.

My wife was out with some friends so it was guys night with just me and my 6 1/2 month old. While my son was gnawing on an unopened pack of crackers, I decided to venture out and get something new. I ordered the Salmon BLT. I'll eat Salmon, but I usually don't order it. Typically there are things on the menu that seem to suite my fancy over any Salmon dish. On top of that I don't normally order BLT's, I'm more of a burger guy. With that said I'm so glad I decided to branch out, this was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was ridiculous. I'm actually wolfing down the second half as I write this review. Between the red beans & rice, the side salad and hushpuppies, I couldn't quite finish the whole sandwich in one sitting.

I highly recommend this local Lake Highlands joint. Christina is the owner/chef and she's really been successful in bringing great cajun food to Dallas.

There is a great patio area that's nice when the weather is, and for the sports fans you can nuzzle up to the bar and watch your favorite games on the flat screens.

Do yourself a favor and try this place out. You won't be disappointed.

The previous reviews on Yelp really do a good job capturing what's good at Offshore's Nextdoor. Based on these, we decided to try it last night. When we drove up, the outside of the place looked run down and I worried that they may be on their last legs. However, the inside is where they have focused their attention and it is as Nick M described: "a Jamaican windsurfers Bar and Grill." Reggae was playing on the speakers too. Loved it.

I can affirm that the fried asparagus with the habanero ranch is great. I had the jumbo shrimp with cole slaw. I ordered some extra habanero sauce for the shrimp too. My wife had the fish tacos. All the food has a cacun influenced flavor that is really unusual compared to other local seafood places.

I can highly recommend Offshore's Nextdoor for excellent cajun inspired seafood. I look forward to going again to try other items that the Yelp reviewers have recommended!

Literally one of the best meals that this kind of money ($10-$20) can buy. Many unique dishes, great chef, great drinks, cheap-ass red stripe, pretty convenient location. I try to get to Dallas at least once every two weeks to eat here. If you've ever wanted to be a regular at a restaurant, this would be the place to do it.

Apps -  I know this is bold, but the onion rings really are the best I've ever had. They're huge and as crispy as they get. Ask for the habanero ranch and the atomic green sauce. You'll need them all throughout your meal.
Secondly, the fried asparagus is awesome. It's really your call here. They're just like the onions, but asparagus.

Anything else you order will be great; their menu plays to their talents. The salmon is probably the strongest item on the menu but I can't stop getting the jumbalaya. This is probably one of the overall spiciest places I've ever been.

Please do try it if you live anywhere close. (Fort Worth is close enough for this place)

Judging from the previous 2 reviews, you'd think there was a dearth of good restaurants in the NE part of Big D, especially Lake Highlands (Town Center, where art thou? Our bellies doth beckon...).  And you'd be sooo right.  When the wife, ankle-biters and I want to go get something Q-n-C (quick and close) it's either Mi Cocina or Picasso's.

Not only did Offshore Nextdoor land right in our little ol' Lake Highlands lap, but they brought a full bar and a happy hour!  It's amazing how easy I am to please...

When we went, we would have accepted almost anything.  We were willing to be so patient and tolerant.  No need!  The food was great and the service was... dare I say, "professional?"  Usually, these neighborhood joints are staffed w/ less-than-great servers.  Not OSND.  These guys have made the rounds and were very helpful and knowledgeable.  Our server helped us navigate the simple menu.  He asked great questions and gave his opinion (both positive and negative) of our narrowed down choices.

The winner was Jambalaya.  The rice based dish had chunks of chicken breast and ample andouille sausage.  The dish was complimented by an assortment of fresh red and yellow peppers.  The heat on the dish was just right.  It was a nice balance of fire and flavor.

The most surprising part of dinner was the fresh salad that started us off.  A bed of fresh GREEN salad.  It too had a wonderful compliment of veggies (peppers, mushrooms and onions) on top.

The kiddie food was very nice.  You'd be surprised how jacked up chicken and french fries can get.  Our helping at Offshore Nextdoor hit the spot.

I highly recommend this place.  The portion of jambalaya was HUGE.  My wife and I could have easily split it.  In fact, now I sometimes drop by, order it to go, drain a happy hour shiner and head home w/ dinner for 2 for $10 (including my HH shiner and tip).

I'm so excited about this place, I've been telling everyone I know. In what was once a terribly mediocre BBQ place, these guys have come in and created an atmosphere that feels like a Jamaican windsurfer's bar and grill -- but this definitely ain't Jamaica because their food is way Cajun and way tasty. Yes, despite the soundtrack of 100% reggae and Red Stripe beer by the cheap bottle, the food is more Louisiana than Marley.

Our first visit I had the grilled salmon with crawfish and crab topping with a pink sauce. It has kept us coming back week after week. One weekend, I went for the special of the night which was a Salmon BLT --- I pray that they add this to the official menu, because it is the most amazing "non-italian meat" (I reserve that for Jimmy's Food Store) sandwich I've ever enjoyed. The homefries are the way to go; Cajun fries are a good idea, but last time they were undercooked (new potato quarters take a while). Also HIGHLY recommend the fried asparagus and the calamari appetizers and ask for the habanero ranch dipping sauce.

The service is very attentive and friendly and I highly recommend sitting outside on the patio when the weather is nice -- it feels like you're on vacation even though you're in a strip shopping center in Lake Highlands.
