There's not much new I can say but I enjoyed my dinner. Â The pizza was delicious. Â The beer was cold. Â My server was nice. Â And my chair was on top of an AC vent. Â Being a big boy I didn't sweat it (haha) but some folks might. Â Â I liked the casual old house atmosphere. Â If I'd known about the tables out back I'd have been there. Â I will next time. Â I paid $24 for a tall Alaskan amber and a medium supreme thin crust (called the "maverick") Â plus a tip. Â There's a pic of it in the photos. Â
Prices are higher than some but not unusual nowadays for a delicious handmade pizza. (Unlike places like UNO that pass off freezer pizza as fresh.  I know this because I got one that wasn't fully cooked once).   I'll definitely be back to Old School P&S.
Finally had a chance to try it out. Went in late lunch hour around 1 pm or so on a weekday. Wanted to try the pizza, but also wanted to check out what kind of draft beer they had. Grab a seat where you want, first nice item, they have Revolver Blood and Honey, my current beer obsession, and it's the cheapest I've seen it anywhere, at $4.50 a pint, that's a $1 cheaper than anywhere else I've gotten it.
Decided to get the 12" Carnivore pizza, had a good deal of meat options of course. Pepperoni, bacon, two kids of sausage, and maybe one or two others I can't remember, figuring I would have a couple slices leftover, instead of getting the personal 8", which is the size of the plates they use.
Should have gotten the 8" size, the 12" seemed pretty big, got the regular crust, and the toppings were piled on with cheese on top, which I kinda like, keeps crap from falling off. The pizza could almost be considered deep dish type, due to the amount of toppings and cheese. I really liked it. Everything seemed fresh and cooked pretty perfect.
I also had gotten a side Caesar salad, which looked a little cheapish when it came out. Instead of shredded, it had small slices of cheese in it, but it was really good as well, and the sliced cheese part was no problem. Only negative thing was I had to hold the small wooden bowl while I devoured it to keep it from tipping over. I think the pizza was about $12, and I had a lot leftover, all told, couple of beers, and salad around $26 before tip. Not bad at all, especially considering if I had gotten the small pizza and no salad, which would have been plenty for lunch, probably would have saved me at least $8 - $10. They have a lunch special which is an 8" one topping pizza and drink for I think about $7, that's a good lunch deal.
Food and service was really good, however, it's an old house which has been several food joints before, and there are 3 rooms inside, two dining and one bar/dining room. All are pretty small, 3-4 tables each, so large parties might be a little cramped. Parking is a little of a premium too, when you drive up there looks like plenty of parking to the right, but you soon see the sign that those spaces are only for the next door building. They do have more parking in a lot adjacent I think, but late in the afternoon when I went, there were open spaces, so no problem. Also, they have a good sized patio in the back, which can easily handle larger parties. I liked it a lot, and look forward to next trip.
Girl behind the bar was great, like the funky house vibe. Â Looks like it might be fun to have a few (too many) beers here but was here for lunch.
Had the personal pizza and I wanted to say "really??" it was a frozen pizza with extra cheese, I even flipped it over to look at the crust and it had the little dimples of a mass produced frozen pizza, now maybe the crust is frozen and mass produced and the rest is hand made but again really? It was meh but cheap and heck I no snob, I eat frozen pizzas.
