This is probably my favorite dive bar. I'm also a fan of Caves, and it shares the same owners, so it is along the same line. A little more dank, much smaller, and I love the location. Drink specials are pretty good, and the weekday service is especially great. Great music, random rockabilly nights, and a lot of crazy crap on the walls. The crowd is also an interesting and lively mix of people. Bring a mason jar, trust me.
Review Source:And while I think we can each appreciate that divey joints get rated on their own particular bell curve -- an entirely separate set of criteria based much less on creature comforts (depending on the creatures, I suppose), and more on an overall gestalt -- the reputation of The Ozzie Rabbit (a semi-loose connection to Oswalt, reinforced once you're there by the artwork and the fact that we all agree that he's still dead) remains solid. They're comfortable confounding expectation a little in some places and in still otherwise waxing steady Eddie.
If you dig Caves Lounge in Arlington, you may feel at home here too: the same ownership governs each joint. To that end, you'll find a few regular calendar staples here from bus dive bar crawls to peculiar DJ sets to Fiesta Fridays. I'm sure they're not dull. And so it is with even slow nights like a Sunday night football evening in late Autumn.
They don't take themselves too seriously, but what they do well here they do with intent. And that's worth a raise of the glass.
