Great place to go for children ages 5 and older. Will be busy on Friday night and later evenings so I would recommend going early if you want to get a good seat. Great indoor and outdoor seating outdoor seating with great shade. Food is pub like and excellent especially their desserts. Only comment is don't go if your in a rush Smaller kitchen longer time to make food. Definite Recommendation if you're looking for a Nice place to go with mature family friends.

Here we go.  Great place for atmosphere; cool old school deco interior, nice relaxing, open air deck outside. Beer is fantastic and their coffee is some of the best. Food is good but simple. Burgers, club sandwich, reubens, etc..great for putting alongside their beers.

Do nots..do not go if you are in a hurry.  The kitchen is small and often takes a while to get food out.  Do not go if you want great food or fine dining.  Food is good but more of a pub menu than restaurant.  And don't pass on the wait staff getting something for you.  Don't wait until your beer or cocktail is empty to start looking for your waiter.  For some reason this McMenamin's always seems to be understaffed and it may be a while before you see your waiter/waitress again.  If you mayyyy want one more to wash down your dinner, say yes when they ask you.

This would be a four star place if service were as good as the beer.

One of my favorite McMenamins!! If there is a spot at the bar, and you see a guy serving named Luke, sit down and enjoy!  He is awesome!  You can not miss him! Full of energy, red hair and beard, very friendly, has a positive approach with the other bartenders, and has great recommendations!  Every time I have gone there, the service has been phenomenal! I always get the same thing, Garden Burger and Cajun Tots, but this time they were out of the garden burger, and I had the Backyard Chicken Sandwich, and Wow! Luke also recommended their seasonal beer, because I always have the Ruby, and also a great recommendation! He will not let your beer go empty before asking if you need another. I am guessing he has been there for a while, because this is some of the best bar tending and food service I have seen in some while!

This place is alright, but I was really hoping for great! We've only been here a few times, but overall, I'm really bummed on the quality of the food. The drinks are fine, and the staff is kind, but the food was a real downer. Hopefully when we go back, the food will be better...especially the fries.

I always know what to expect from McMenamins.  Decent food, decent beer, and quirky setting/service.  We tried out the Happy hour here for the first time and found cheap tots and a hummus plate.  The Raspberry stout was super good.  I just wish they had discounted cocktails during happy hour.

Strange things are brewing here at the Oregon City McMenamins and they're not great. A few friends and I came here the other day since it 'used to be' one of my favorites in the chain. We walked in and sat ourselves as usual. We came for happy hour and had come in about 3 minutes before it started. By the time our server came by to take drink orders it had already reached happy hour, 3:02pm judging by my phone, is when she began taking our orders.

We ate and drank; everything was good as usual, except for the unusually long wait for our bill. It seemed as if we waited 15-20 minutes, with empty dishes and all at the end of our table, before she finally came by and asked if we were ready to go. When our bills were finally dropped, surprise... surprise. SURPRISE! All of the happy hour beers we ordered were full priced, but the food was happy hour priced?

We were all confused. Our server blamed it on the computer, saying that if it's put into the computer before it's happy hour, then that's what it does. I mentioned that my clock had read 3:02pm when she was taking our drink orders, but she didn't oblige, blaming it solely on the computer, and hinting at the idea that my cell phones time was off. The three of us compared times at the table, nope; all of our cell phones read the same exact time, as well as the parking meter outside, and my friend's clock in his car.

McMenamins needs to get their times right, and if something like this occurs, perhaps in good faith you comp the drinks down to happy hour prices. We bit the bullet and paid the almost $5 more for her 'honest' mistake. The economy sucks, and if this McMenamins is not willing to fix small mistakes like this it's a pitty, because there are plenty of other options available. We all will not be returning to this location.

I love their veggie burger options and beer selection, prices are okay but I always try to go during happy hour, because the prices are great then! The server was cheerful and knowledgable and the food came out quickly. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for yummy bar food and a friendly pub atmosphere.

Great beer (Hammerhead), good food.  The food is 'good.'  Not bad, but not great.  Tends to be on the greasy/oily side a lot of times.  But the beer is outstanding.  Worth going for the Hammerhead.

Every time I've gone to this location the place wasn't very full yet the service was slow. The food seemed extra greasy and the beer a little flat. The interior isn't appealing at all. Nothing cool about it really. I saw some people mention the outside dinning during the summer and the river view so if I go back someday maybe it will be this summer and I'll update the review then.

Very disappointed. The one star is for the (lack of) service. I cannot comment on the food or drink as we were never served.

My sister and cousin came in for a late lunch last week (Thursday, I believe). When we arrived a male server told us we could seat ourselves. After finding a spot, we were told that he would be right with us. That's cool - he was helping close out another table and we were busy chatting. Time goes by and we saw him clearing a different table. Ok, but we were the only customers in the place. It was probably ok to let that table stay cluttered while helping us. We still had not received menus or asked for our drink order. The woman behind the bar seemed to be cleaning up, too. We weren't sure why no one helped us so we got up to leave. Neither of them even offered an "oops, sorry" on our way out the door.

I'm not a local, but I've stayed at McMenamins Edgefield and Kennedy School in the past and had wonderful experiences. I'm hoping that the whole chain of restaurants/bars haven't turned to this style of service.

    "Asian Chicken Noodle Soup"
We come to this McMenamins quite a bit, though, I don't always get a chance to check in here in Yelp- many of the staff acknowledges us a regulars. Today when we arrived our server, listed as Clarke on the bill, told us the soup-de-jour was Asian Chicken Noodle. I usually don't get soup, so I kind of ignored him at first. Perusing the menu, I felt in the mood to have soup today, as the weather has been getting cold and dreary.

Upon his return, I asked Clarke what the soup was again, and he repeated himself casually. At first I wasn't really interested, but he went on to describe it as a standard chicken noodle, with a "Top Ramen Oriental flavor, minus the MSG-gross-thing", which pretty much sold me. Having enjoyed many bowls of Top Ramen in my college days, it seemed like a good idea. I paired it with an equally tasty and savory treat, the Portland Dip (Turkey instead of Beef).

The food ended up being extremely satisfying and delicious, and I was happy I went with the soup, instead of the standard favorite Cajun Tots with Ketchup and Dijon for dipping.

So- thanks to Clarke for selling the soup, and thanks to McMenamins to liven up a grey Saturday afternoon.

I just don't get the negative reviews.  I've been coming here a few times a year for close to 6(!) years now, and it has been great, low-key, and polite every time.  We have even come at varying times of day.  My last visit was perfect.  The bartender couldn't have been nicer, the tots were piping hot, my burger rocked, and the beer was, no surprise, excellent.  The cook even came out to make sure all was well.  Oh, and the music was at a reasonable level too.  This is a great place.  Enjoy and relax.  You're in Oregon.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Salem.  It was busy enough for a sunday afternoon. The menu had a nice selection of sandwiches, burgers and sandwiches and it appeared there's a nice selection of.micro brews.  I had the smoked mozarella and Pesto  sandwich with the tomato basil soup - kinda like a grown up grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. Both were excellent and reasonably priced.

Not the cleanest place but they sure have some great dishes. Love their fries, soups (African chicken peanut is the best). Fish & Chips spendy for what you get but good. Salads can be unusual but very tasty.
Dining outside in the summer on the patio/deck is wonderful although noisy from the street.
Staff is "so so" when it comes to friendly-could work on being a bit more cheerful.

    McMenamins failed us miserably tonight!
We've been to this particular location quite a few times and haven't had any major issues until this evening. I think we would have fared better if the weather was nicer and the porch was open.
We walked into a full restaurant. Both entrance had people waiting. It took a good 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledged our existence. No wait time was given to us and two tables were dirty and obviously available but there were no bus boys cleaning them and no one was being seated.
The tables got cleaned and it took another 5-10mins for the people at the second entrance to get seated. We waited and waited and a clean table stared back at us....*crickets*
We ended up leaving and i'm glad we did. McMenamins you sucked tonight and I doubt we'll be back.

Just like any McMenamin's, the beer is great and the food is good. I didn't sit outside, but it looks like a really nice patio area, albeit quite crowded when the weather is nice.

From inside there's a view of the river if you get the right seats. All the staff seemed very friendly and our waiter was very attentive. Overall, this is one more great McMenamin's to hit up if you're in the area and have some money and wanna relax!

One of the better mcmin pubs. They have a good menu too since most all mcmins have different menus.
Try a pint of Rubinator while you are there.

It's been awhile since I've visited this establishment decided to meet a colleague for lunch while doing some business.

This McMenamins feels as comfortable as your bedroom slipper, just settling into one of the big booths that surround the large bar that's located in the center feels like you're at home.  The booths are very high-backed and give you a sense of a little privacy.

The menu has changed slightly, of which my usual is the Philly Cheese steak.  I ventured a little off my norm and went with the Southwest Crispy Chicken Salad which had a great flavor and was served with a good helping of chicken.

The beer at McMenamins is a known quantity of which I prefer the Ruby or the Terminator, but they offer quite a variety with some seasonal offerings.

Previously, the service here has been spotty, good service one visit and then the next is like you have a disease.  The service this time was excellent with the waiter requesting to refill my ice tea, asking if we need anything else and prompt delivery of the bill so that we could depart when we were ready.

Parking is bad unless you're after 5pm when some of the courthouse parking slots open up.  Good luck finding parking if it's a busy night or during the peak of the day because you're fighting for parking with the courthouse and the juror pool which is nearby.

I'll visit here again and we'll see about the service and the food portions.  For now I'll give them 3 stars, but if the service stays as it was this visit and the portions have improved, I'll give them a 4th star.

I received very quick service and friendly service!  I feel though that my food wasn't made right, there was cheddar cheese on my communication break down burger and the spread didn't taste right, I could be wrong but it just wasn't the burger I remember loving.  Also the beer seemed a little flat.  Other than that it was a great experience!

After reading about Patio dining in this week's Weekly Yelp, I had a hankerin' to spend some time outdoors. I chose McMenamin's for the location...okay so they're not far from my house, plus I hadn't been here in at least 5 years. What a disappointment! I should have just gone home and eaten on my own porch.

Not only was the patio crowded with very loud kids and celebratory office staff, the service was just less than adequate and the food was sub-par. First of all, the McMenamin's in West Linn offers Happy Hour food so I was expecting to eat and have a beer for less than $8. Nope, all the O.C. location offers for HH was some small change off the pints.

I ordered the blue cheese burger with tots and a Ruby. The Ruby was refreshing and exactly as I remembered the last one. The burger was horrible. The patty was thin and tasteless and except for the blue cheese had no condiments. In fact, the only condiment on the table was vinegar. Now let me ask you, why order tater tots if you can't dredge them through some ranch dressing? Or at the very least, ketchup? But the waiter was running his legs off and I never even had a chance to ask him for either of those things before I was finished with my meal.

I spent 15 minutes waiting for my tab before getting frustrated enough to just go stand by the side door. Another 15 minutes later and I just flung some cash at the waiter. I know I threw $15 at him which was not only almost double what I was expecting to pay but was waaaay more than the meal was worth.

It will probably be at least another 5 years before they get my money at this location again.

BEER'S are great there...very mainstream anymore!

There food is pretty basic, a bit over priced and not like it used to be about 5 years ago! We don't go there much anymore because of the quality of the food! With so many other choices out there I would recommend going somewhere else!

Yeah, McMenamins!  How I love  your Terminator Stout mustard with a side of fries!  I salivate just thinking about a Ruby on the deck this first sunny day of spring.
This McMenamins is in an awesome location, central OC with a view of the river.  As expected, great food and drinks.  Also as expected, sloppy and neglectful service.  Really?  I'm over the "too cool" attitude.  I took my friends for a cocktail and we couldn't even get a refill SITTING at the bar.  Come on.
Oh well.  We will surely be back soon-service bell in tow,  because you just cant beat a great beer on the porch!

Man I love this place.  Oregon is known for it's breweries.  They make some of the finest beer in the country in this state.  McMenamins is a great place.  I always have fun when I go.  The food is great and the beers are absolutely delicious.  The beer they're know for is the Hammerhead.  It's really good.  It's also the only one that they bottle and sell.  All the other beers have to be consumed in the pub as they are only distributed by keg.  Great place to go and have some good food and some good beer.  I highly recommend this place.

I know, another McMenamin's.  The familiar beer list, the inconsistent service, the odd mix of in-house art and container store artifacts for decor.  So why mention it?

Two things: The Deck.  And The Burger.

A small patio under the shade of a tree is the perfect lunch spot if you find yourself in Oregon City in the noonish hour.  Highway 99 is mere feet away, that's true, but you can literally overlook it and view the river.

And this I can't explain but this particular McMenamin's produces a tastier burger (I personally prefer the Capt. Neon) than any other I have been to in the 'Kingdom' and that's a lot.  It's not a fluke, I've had at least a dozen burgers at this outpost and they have nearly all been outstanding.

They do alright by me with the cajunized tater tots, too.

This brewpub is in an historic building, a popular church from the turn of the century. McMenamins Oregon City is also a favorite lunch spot for judges from the neighboring courthouse. Talk about your mixin' of church and state!  Try the Hammerhead Ale on a summer day out back on the patio- while watching fisherman heft salmon out of the mighty Willamette.
