The Original Gino's East of Chicago

I walked into this restaurant with my family on a slow Sunday evening.  We were seated and placed our order all within 5 minutes of walking in.  That was a great start because all of us were starving.  The decor was was pretty neat, my family and I were amused at the writing all over the walls, tables, and chairs.  I had a Groupon deal for a medium 2 topping stuffed pizza and appetizer.  For the appitizer I ordered the fried ravioli and for the pizza toppings I ordered spinach and jalapenos.  I've had fried ravioli only once before and that was at Olive Garden so I'm not an expert or anything in that department, but what we were served was a little too oily.  I had one bite and I was done, it was a little torturous to finish the rest of my one piece.  That being said, my mom enjoyed it so much that she had 3 out of the 5 that came.  The pizza took forever to come out, at least it felt that way especially because we were hungry and knew it was going to take around half hour to 45 minutes for it to come out of the oven.  The pizza itself was delicious though, worth the wait.  My family and I are big fans of stuffed pizza, who isn't in Chicago really?!  The service up to that point was average, nothing too special.  But what really encouraged me to give this place an extra star, I was going to rate it a 3 originally, was the service I received after requesting my check.  I pulled up the Groupon on my phone for the waitress to write down and take it to the computer to process and the Groupon app shut down.  I opened it again and the Groupon was marked redeemed.  I thought no worries, I could call a cousin who can hop onto a computer and see if he can access it to get the number so I can redeem it.  There was no way for me to access the numbers on that Groupon.  It was very frustrating and I explained the situation to the waitress.  She went to speak with her manager who told her that I can pay with a credit card and once I call Groupon's customer care representative, I can call the restaurant back and she can place a refund onto my account.  I called her 2 days after and she did just that!  I was so pleased.  I would have thought that the manager would've given up  hope and told me to come back again to use the Groupon but she was kind enough to go the extra mile.  I was very pleased and will come back when I'm in the mood for Gino's.

I had an awful experience here with their service. I don't know if it was a one-time thing with a bad waitress or what, but this location did nothing to change my negative experience here.

We came with a party of 6. The food came incredibly late when the restaurant wasn't even busy. The waitress was unfriendly, as if we were a bother to her. Didn't check-up with us. A couple nearby who had been seated after us actually flagged down our waitress. They had gotten their food much earlier while we were still waiting, which they pointed out to our waitress rofl. When our salad finally came out, the croutons were burnt. That was the first time I've ever been served burnt food, much less basic croutons on a salad.

Even if the food had been amazing (it was most definitely NOT), the gawd-awful service would have turned me off completely from becoming a repeat customer.

Place is a little strange. Ginos east management better get this location straightened out or they are gonna ruin the brand.

Seems disorganized and not so clean.

Not allot of people seem to be working there either.

Food was a mixed bag, calamari appetizer was kind of terrible, grease in fryer hasn't been changed in a while.

Deep dish pizza was quite good though.

Maybe a good place to go and just get a pizza if you have the time. Remember to bring markers - BTW need a paint job, because no room to write anywhere anymore,

I would stay away from all the other food though.
