    Avoid the hot toddy.
They forgot the tea, so it was hot lemon water and Bushmills. Good work.

This place is as Irish as green Bud Light.

OK sports bar. Feels like a warehouse that was converted into a bar;  ceilings are high and there's only 4 walls.  I like the waffle fries that come with the sandwiches.

Here's a clever idea, have more than just a bartender on staff. You serve food. You serve drinks. But when the place is packed with groups for a Bears game you don't do either well. I've given you two shots... you'll get no more.

I'm not a huge fan of bars that are just one giant room with tables scattered hither and yon.

The night I was there, they had live music, which was nice.  But the acoustics in that joint are such, you can't hear the person standing next to you.

Getting a bartender's attention wasn't always easy on the Friday night I visited.

I guess if you need a drink in the neighborhood, it might be worth the stop.  But there have to be better watering holes.

My Irish boyfriend and I have always laughed while driving past this place he refers to as "Blarney O'Douchebags". We had never actually gone because we had no reason to.

Before meeting friends for a show at the Mid we got the unfortunate text saying "Hey, we're getting drinks at O'Fegan's, come meet us". You mean Blarney O'Douchebags? UGH!

I went with an open mind. My Irishman did not. He despises pseudo Irish pubs like this, rightfully so I guess. I just dislike the crowd these places usually draw in.

We ordered drinks, and because I knew I was about to spend all night at an open bar I just ordered something different off of this menu. I was freezing cold so I got a Hot Toddy. I mean, it's pretty hard to F up hot tea, whiskey, honey and lemon, right? Well O'Douchebags managed to. I got a cup of lukewarm water with whiskey and a lemon. By my calculations they missed a few ingredients yet managed to charge me the full SEVEN dollars.

Anyway, I gave this place a chance. They failed, just like I could have guessed they would. The crowd there was painfully awkward.

I'm sure this place will get good marks from a very specific demographic. People who love Bennigan's and consider the Olive Garden to be fancy will, I'm sure, truly enjoy this place. Good for them.

Its cinderblock box of a building with generic bennigan's type crap on the walls.  For some odd reason, all urinals are about a foot too low.  The whole place comes off as generic.  The beer selection is pretty standard as well.  Also, do yourself a favor and don't eat here. I've had a few items (fish and chips, etc.) and they are all sub-par.  Overall, for the location, the pricing isn't too bad (they have a whisky shot and PBR special for ~$8, but I wouldn't go here expecting much of anything special.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.  Great spot to stop in for drinks and catch a game.  Drink specials are very reasonable.  Also a very clean joint (no need to fear the restroom in this place).

We finally ate dinner here!  I was stealing the carrots and potatoes off of Mr. Man's plate they were so good.  Ok, it was probably not a good idea to eat meat soaked vegetables but they were soooo good.  T

Calamari was great and my salad was chocked full of good stuff, not boring at all.  I crave a chopped salad that is more than just leaves.  This one had blue cheese, egg, cucumbers, tomato, avocados, red onion... Mmm... So good.

A great place to stop for a weeknight dinner.

They have this gorgeous bartender named Mark (who will graciously tell you that it's Mark with a "K",) who deals with us silly girls on a monthly basis.  Don't know the name of the shot he makes us, but we keep on ordering them, because he licks the spoon with the remaining Bailey's on it.  And it looks really, really, really, hot.  Yeah, we are that easily amused.  Besides that shot, Mark (with a K) also has blended us some secret ingredient shots that were phenomenally good!

Mark is awesome, but so is the rest of the bar staff, even with us loud, drunken, and raucous group of girls on a night out.  They have a great beer selection, quite  a few imports; for example, one of my favorites, 'Delirious Tremens can be gotten for only $8 a bottle, and they also have daily drink specials.  For the location, the drinks are very reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is rather chill and laid back, not totally Irish-ed out but modern and dimly lit.  Internet jukebox and plenty of televisions tuned into sporting events.  The crowd (with the exception of batchelorette party spillover from local clubs) is also very laid back and friendly; completely unpretentious and unassuming.

The food, for bar fare, is also pretty decent.  My personal favorites are the Ruben egg rolls.  Corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss rolled into a wonton wrapper and deep fried into bits of golden goodness served with thousand island dressing. Second runner up is given to the fried green beans, which are served with a chipolte ranch sauce.  The wings are standard; good, but nothing to write home about.

The girls from work and I vow to make this our monthly spot whenever possible.

Stopped in here for a few beers after dinner in the west loop and loved this place! It's so clean, the employees are very friendly and it looks like they have some fun events and live music on various nights. I really haven't seen a bar this clean in Chicago.  It's a little off the beaten path but definitely worth stopping in.

I went with 2 of my girlfriends on a Friday night and there was a drunk creeper who uninvitedly sat at our table. Even before he sat down the door guys gave us a look asking whether they should intervene, it seemed harmless enough so we didn't call on them to intervene, but when the super wasted creeper started eating off my friend's plate and slurring profanity we informed the bouncer he was bothering us and they promptly escorted him out, no problem. Such chivalry!

The drinks were fairly pricy with no specials, and the food was your typical greasy bar food fare, but our waiter was incredibly nice and the bouncers were amazing. The service made this pub a place I would gladly return.

Seemed like a decent place to maybe watch a game or something, but it was mostly empty on a Friday night and the service was still slow for some reason.  As Sarah E. said, "the music was way too loud for a bar not filled with that many people"... we had a half-booth thing and i still had to lean across the very small table to be able to hear any of the conversation we were trying to have. Try going to Haymarket instead.

We just were in the bar recently and the live music was TERRIBLE. The only thing that was worse than the live music was the waitresses. They were flat out bad at their job. We would order a round of maybe 3 drinks and they would get it wrong. That didn't bother our group at all but she had a really crappy attitude to go with the poor service. I would NEVER go back to this place if it was the last place to drink in the city.

This place..was weird.  We came in off the street and it was clear that we were not the right kind of people for this bar.  And what do I mean by that?  I mean it's seemingly a bar filled with regulars.  We are not those regulars.

The music was way too loud for a bar not filled with that many people.  I asked the bartender about a beer that was on tap and instead of answering my question, he poured me one.  Okay, I guess I'll have that beer then.

It would be a good place to come with a crowd.  Otherwise, not so much fun.

    What an odd place.

Stopped in before my 10PM reservation at the Aviary (total opposite of this place, I know) and still don't know what to think.

I liked the wide open space, for 8:45/9PM on a Saturday night it wasn't very busy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in my book. I was able to snag a table right in front of the tv to catch the end of the Rangers game. Clean bathroom was also a plus.

Beer selection is your typical Irish bar - nothing super fancy but some decent options.

Bartender didn't give off great vibes and we had a couple patrons approach us about playing a song for us etc when all I wanted to do was watch the game.

We stopped in here for a drink after dinner on Randolph Street.  Haymarket was packed to the gills, so we decided to give the new kid on the block a try.  It was surprisingly empty for a Friday night-- especially given what the Friday night crowd is usually like at nearby Jefferson Tap and New Line Tavern.

The space is huge, the service is friendly, and they have some of the cleanest bar bathrooms I have ever seen.  The perks of being a brand new building, I suppose!  The prices were pretty standard and the place did start to fill up a little more when we left around midnight.  I'll be interested to see how this place fares over the next couple of months and if it catches on.  I hope it does-- it's nice to have another bar/pub option in our hood!

Stumbled upon this bar with some friends when hunger got the best of us after  salsa class. Parking wasn't too challenging- easy street parking, free after 9 PM.

The pub is much bigger than it appears from the outside and the decor is pretty cool. They had nice comfortable booths and after a lengthy debate, we ordered our food and drinks.

The food wasn't mind blowing, but good, and better than most "bar food". Their sweet potato fries will cause the collapse of any well intended diet. I loved their apple cider - it was an evening saver for a girl who doesn't drink beer or whiskey (which most of their drinks menu consists of).

The bathroom is worth mentioning, as it was well stocked and clean. If you want to judge the cleanliness of any establishment, check out the bathroom.

The only thing that was off was the music. It just didn't seem right to hear Pitbull in an Irish bar. And it was really loud, too.

Perfectly meh. All the Irish trappings like just about half the bars in Chicago. Menu doesn't really seem to know where it is going, and a lot of the food is pretty bland, though the burger was reasonably good. Very quiet when I went in on a Saturday evening, which (judging by the reviews) is pretty common. It's probably the best thing of its kind in the area, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to hang out there again.

A pretty decent nice looking bar in West town. they had a rugby and soccer game so the international crowd this bar strives for. the foo0d was above decent and service right on time. It is a pretty big place and was empty the night I went as well. It is in an industrrial area with little free parking so I am sure that is most likely the problem. if you like places that are not crowded then this is a place to be.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday, it was empty except for one guy sitting at the bar drinking a beer and later eating.  We were in the mood for an Irish breakfast and close by so we decided to try it out.  Though it did meet most requirements for a traditional Irish breakfast, it lacked any flavor and I felt they skimped for the prices.  Only one rasher, the potatoes tasted like Ore Ida bagged diced potatoes, one piece of toast, no mushrooms, flavorless sausage. I also ate some of the chicken sandwich which was also not very good and pricey, I think $12, served with awful fries.  The layout seemed more like just an empty part of a warehouse turned into a bar just yesterday, just a wide open rectangular, with cheap chairs, painted walls.  No authentic Irish pub feel with nooks to sit in and woodwork.  Waitress seemed aloof, spoke with the guy at the bar and didn't check on us when refills, napkins, butter were needed.  She put down the check at the end with no words.  Maybe we were stressing her out by giving her business, I dunno. I'm not usually in the area and this place didn't give me any reason to come back. Overall, weird decor, bad location, bad food, poor service, expensive prices, no character- what's not to love? Oh, right.

Was excited when this bar came into the neighborhood because there was another option outside of the Randolph street destinations. I have walked by this place almost everyday to and from work and was a little hesitant to walk in because it often looks so empty. But today I decided to give it try.

Me and a friend met up at Paddy O'Fegan's and we were promptly greeted (pretty empty inside). When asked to change the channel to a certain game they happily obliged. We ordered fish and chips and wings to share. They have a small pretty nice selection of Irish pub/American fare food. Overall the food was ok tasting and fresh. I love the fact that the seafood comes from the local fish market across the street. Thumbs up for buying local! The fish was tasty but a little greasy. I'm thinking they might have needed a lighter batter or maybe the grease should have been hotter. Wings were pretty good, but typical for wings at a bar. Offhand in the back of my mind I was expecting the food to be excellent due to the limited menu.

Overall ok standard bar food, good bang for your buck. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean place that looks like a lot of effort is being put forth. I hope the crowd picks up so this place can stick around. I would definitely go back and try something else on the menu.

Not sure about Paddy's - typical Irish bar with all the right decorations, etc. Spacious, clean and parking is easy in the area. Service could have been a little better. I waited 20 minutes for my card to be returned. Ordered the field-grass burger. Terrific except for the bun. It fell apart before I even began eating. Waitress said that many have complained. Suggest a pretzel roll!

Went here with a group of 4 for most of the night and a straggler making 5 on a Friday. I would give them an average 3 with room for improvement-- they have the potential.

    What they did right:

    SERVICE!
A friend had ordered a margarita (yeah I know the blasphemy of ordering a margarita at a place called Paddy O'Fegan's) and it came out rather strange... either the mix portion went bad or there wasn't enough simple syrup. Regardless, we informed the server and she came back with another strikeout on the margarita so my friend decided to go another route. I was impressed in the way the server treated the situation was very diplomatic and we were very appreciative. Besides that snag, the service was timely even with the place packed.

    What they can improve:

I expected a whiskey, scotch, and/or bourbon list but there was none. The poutine we ordered tasted like the gravy was made from an instant mix and not from a rue -- although I may be a poutine snob since I have had poutine in Montreal. The men's urinals are way too short - practically all children height.

Overall with things as they are now I would go to this place if I were in the area, but I would not go out of my way.

This place is right down the street from me and since I've been in need of a local joint, this place fit the bill pretty well.  The inside is deceptively large and seats more people than I thought it would.  We were there on a Friday night and it wasn't super crowded, so I hope that doesn't mean their business is not doing well.  They had a great selection of beers and our waitress even put up with my husband's annoying lecture on how Hoegarden is actually pronounced Hoo-garden (he's apparently right if you read the bottle label but who actually says Hoogarden?  Weirdo).  I bounced around from beer to beer but I do remember that I really enjoyed the Carlsberg, or as I referred to it all night, the Carlsbad.  Dumbass.

The food was good, except they committed one of my biggest dining pet peeves:  when you ask them to omit one thing and the kitchen somehow reads that as omit as many things as you want.  I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and asked for no cheese, because, well, I don't like cheese on my chicken sandwich.  Somehow that turned into no cheese and no bacon.  WTF?  No bacon?  That's like half the reason I ordered the sandwich!  Please don't do that to this swine loving lady!  I know I could have said something but I hate to be a complainer so I just silently cried in the corner about how good my sandwich could have been with the bacon.  Missing bacon aside, it was a good chicken sandwich.  My husband's reuben was also quite tasty.  I like that they have more than just the standard bar food available and I'm sure we'll be back to sample more of the menu soon.

My husband and I went in for lunch on a weekday. Granted, it was a slow time and they were receiving a beer delivery, but we sat for over 5 min without anyone coming to greet us. We were one of 10 people in the bar (all but 4 of the rest were construction workers who were done eating) and the bartender/cook/someone made eye contact with us more than once. On our way out they said, "I'll be right with you." We replied, "No thanks."

One would think that if its a slow period that the wait staff would have time to actually bring us a menu. We walked out and went down the street to Haymarket. WAY better service and food!

On a recent weekend my wife and I wanted to go somewhere around the hood for lunch and I took us to Paddy O'Fegans.

It's a newer Irish pub to the WL and it had been on my hitlist for a while.  I liked what I saw from Paddys.  They've got a large space in the more industrial stretch of Halsted and Lake.  It was a Saturday afternoon, so they already had a slew of college football games on various flatscreens.  We grabbed a nice booth along the windows and were promptly greeted and asked if we wanted to see a certain game that they would put it on for us.  That's really cool, but there wasn't any game of interest for us on this particular afternoon.  What I especially enjoyed seeing was that the EPL was already on one set at the end of the bar where a few lads were enjoying some pints and footie.  It's good to know that I can find my football fix in the hood.

They've got a nice draft list here including the usual pub staples Guinness and Carlsberg.  We got a few pints of Lagunitas IPA, which they were all over refilling when it was needed.  Nice touch.

We mulled over the food menu a bit, which sadly was a whittled down offering of their full menu.  That nixed the bangers and mash I was looking forward to and the sandwich my lady had chosen from the online menu.  I selected Bill Kurtis' Tallgrass Beef Burger-Grilled 10oz Tallgrass Beef Burger topped with Kerry Gold Aged Cheddar, Sautéed Mushrooms, Canadian Bacon, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato and Onion and Sweet Potato Fries while my wife had the Paddy's House Salad-Fresh Mixed Greens, Red Onions, Tomatoes, Artichoke Hearts, Garbanzo Beans, Black Olives, Fresh Berries and Nuts.  I was thoroughly pleased with the great burger, which was a nice combo of good ingredients.  My wife loved her salad.  Not what I would suggest ordering at the pub, but knowing her picky ways, it must have been quite good.  We both liked the sweet potato fries, which I anticipate we'll always be getting here.

The rest of the menu looks interesting and we're excited to return to sample it.  Paddys is a most welcome addition to the West Loop.

I stopped into Paddy O'Fegan's once on their opening night, and once this past Saturday.  On opening night, I didn't eat, but the drinks were cold, the service was quick and friendly, the prices were right, and the place was adorable!

On my visit there this Saturday, I was a little hungry, so I opted for an appetizer.  OH. MY. CRAB. CAKES.  This place literally has the most delicious crab cakes on the face of the earth, served with a lemon bacon honey mustard that will change your life.  The service was still great, the drinks were still perfect, the prices were still right, and the place was still clean and comfortable.

My only regret is that I don't live closer and can't go there more often.  My friends had a couple of other dishes off of the menu and seemed to be as pleased with their food as I was with mine.  I would highly recommend Paddy O'Fegan's and can't wait to get back for more of those deLICious crab cakes!

What a hidden gem in the West Loop. A solid 4.5 star place.  We stopped in for Sunday lunch and to catch a little bit of the game.  We split the wings, the burger, and the fish and chips.  The wings were very nice - we got them done extra crispy and they had a nice crunch to them.  The paddy sauce was good (although too much of it was too spicy for me).  Definitely some of the better wings out there.

The fish and chips were amazing and my favorite!  First, they get quality seafood from Rubinos across the street.  That makes a huge difference.  Second, their batter was crispy without being too heavy.  The Cod just melts in your mouth.  There is also a generous portion.   The burger was very tasty and juicy as well. It is clear that they use fresh ingredients.

The place has a cozy feeling with several TVs mounted on the walls.  We took a booth for a "homey" feel with the occasional view of the tvs.   It was crowded with the game, but that seems to be when it is the busiest.  The staff were great.  Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable.  They also make very strong, but tasty, drinks.

We have even come back here again just for the food.  So far, so good.  They certainly have the potential to become our Spot and get the coveted 5 stars.

Normally I'd pass on reviewing a place like this because there's not much to say about it that couldn't be said about any other Irish Pub.  But seeing as how it's unique to the neighborhood and I've been there 3 - 4 times, it seems as if a review is due.

So let's make this one short and sweet.  It's a large Irish Pub that looks like a Bennigans met an Applebees and fell in love.  During games it's crowded, and when there's no game, there appears to be no crowd.  The drinks are standard fare and the crowd is an eclectic mix that changes by the night, the party, the game and the time.  The food is decent enough and will do the trick.  The Rueben Rolls were quite good.  The Cheese and Sausage platter is decent enough.  And everything else on the menu follows down this 'ho-hum' route.  Service is efficient, ambiance is what one would expect.  It's a great casual place to go grab a drink on a whim and know EXACTLY what you are in for.

I'm glad this place is in the neighborhood now.  The West Loop is better for having a down and dirty Irish Pub to complement every other bar that's not.  Scenesters need not apply.

I really like this bar.  It is a true irish pub and eatery with three different sections.  The owner and his wife or sister were very friendly and Doug the bartender (I think he is gay) was super nice and helpful.  I like it because it is a regular bar in the middle of all the swanky clubs and restaurants in Fulton market area.

Been here twice lately- and glad it came to the neighborhood!  We'll be going back again & again!

    THE PLACE
Pretty cozy.  Big long wooden bar, tables & chairs, tall tables and tall stools, elevated area with tables, booths, something for everyone.  There are a lot of TVs, and when we were here they had music playing, tv sound down.  There's really any seating arrangement here besides the floor that should make everyone happy.

    THE FOOD
We've had the burgers-delicious.  The fish and chips- made in house with fresh made batter, and fresh fish from the seafood house across the street on Halsted.  Their fried green beans- oh..my... yum!!!!  And they bring it out hot and fresh.

    THE STAFF
Seems family owned, everyone is friendly and attentive, and pretty much everyone has a charming irish accent.

    THE PERKS
This place is right next to the Lake & Halsted #7 bus stop.  They have a special, like $1 for a cup of coffee, for those of you with a few minutes to spare before the bus comes!

I like this place!  The inside decor is really nice.  It's cozy, earthy, and green.  Their menu is pretty well-rounded.  I wish they served corned beef and cabbage every day, but I understand why they don't.  My hubby got the cottage pie - Loved it.  It was really good and really really big.  Beers on tap were cold and big and prices throughout were reasonable.  I hope this place doesn't get too crowded but crowded enough so that it stays around for awhile.  It's a great addition to the neighborhood...

Stopped by Paddy O' Fegans on Sunday to catch the game.

The space is large but it obviously hasn't caught on yet as there were only a few people in the place. We sat down at the bar and immediately were accommodated with "our" game being put on one of the many TVs in the place and a couple of cold beers plopped down in front of us. Nice!

The staff was great! Accommodating, eager to please and on their game as our beers were never empty before another cold one was put down in front of us.

The decor, in my opinion, lacked a little warmth. The components that I would expect from an Irish bar were all there (fireplace, wooden bar, bartender from Ireland) but it all felt too new, a little forced and lacked character (except the bartender of course!) It's definitely more of an American sports bar than an Irish bar. But I wasn't there to redecorate- I was there to drink and eat so it really didn't faze me.

We ordered a burger and fries. They are obviously still working out the bugs in the kitchen as our burger -ordered medium- definitely came out rare. But the bun was soft and the toppings fresh. And the fries that were served along side were also quite good.

There are many interesting things on the menu including poutine (I must try that the next time,) corned beef, fish and chips, cottage pie and other items a bit unexpected from a bar, I like that they get their seafood from the seafood wholesaler across the street. Prices were reasonable (dinner for 2 with drinks was about $50)

If you drive- parking is a bit of a challenge (especially with Lake Street under construction) but they are working with the lot across the street so eventually that may not be an issue. For now- head west on Lake and park back in there on one of the side streets.

I hate to even post this as I am sure as this place catches on- getting a seat at the bar will be the same challenge it is at other places around town. But for now? It's a good choice in the area to grab a pint, catch a game or just relax with friends.

I got to try a turkey burger with pepperjack cheese and avacado yum! One of the best turkey burgers I've had, and fried green beans.. my weakness. Also, of course good. A couple people in the group had wings and they smelled pretty damn delicious. Sadly I'm not in this area much but i would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Paddy O'Fegan's!

My husband and I went there for dinner today on their first day of business. They do have many employees and our server was pleasant.
We had the fish and chips and cottage pie. The battered fish was crispy and the fish itself was moist. The cottage pie was alright and a little different from what I've had at other places in terms of the consistency of the sauce that is cooked with the meat. The sauce was a little more "brothy" instead of being the thick kind of sauce. It's definitely not the traditional Irish pub grub since Irish and British cottage pies are supposed to have a little more thick gravy/sauce. The bangers and mash are good but again, by all means not traditionally Irish or British.

This is a much needed Irish corner pub in the Fulton River District, although I would say that this is more of an American version of an Irish pub. Unlike other Irish pubs in the cities that air soccer matches (English Premier League, World Cup), Paddy O'Fegans is where you would go to watch the Bears game. Although we wished they aired soccer matches, it is a good place for residents to chill, relax, and have a pint. Afterall, this area can't just feed on destination places in the neigborhood like Girl & The Goat, Publican, Next, Blackbird, etc.
