I recently tried Pasand for first time. Â I'm from Philadelphia, where we have a ton of Indian restaurants to choose from. Â As far as Peoria goes, this seems to be about the only place to get Indian food.
Overall, Pasand is OK. Â I think my favorite part of the meal was the samosa chaat. Â If you haven't tried it and are a fan of samosas, give it a try. Â For my meal I had the palak chicken, which was alright. Â Next time I'll try one of their dosas.
Service was friendly. Â The women's bathroom could use a thorough cleaning.
All right, don't get me wrong. Â Pasand is still (to my knowledge) the best Indian restaurant in Peoria, but that doesn't mean it's great.
During my most recent visit I ordered saag paneer and splurged for the thali option. Â The main dish came out and looked pretty good but turned out to be unbearably salty. Â I told the waitress and she asked if I wanted anything else. Â I declined and sent back the almost full dish of saag paneer and munched on naan and finished my rice and thali. Â (The garlic naan's pretty decent, by the way.) Â When the bill came, there was no deduction whatsoever. Â They could've at least taken off the thali or something as a gesture. Â
In addition to this incident, the service in general, once pretty great after the changeover to Pasand, is a mixed bag now. Â The servers were very pleasant, but took quite a while to check on us at certain intervals, leaving water glasses unfilled.
*An update to say that I was pleased with the responsiveness of the owner who wrote to say he'd taken the review as a suggestion and improved.
I've been here a couple times this summer. Two times I got the lunch buffet. Not bad, but when my rice crunches it isn't a good meal.
However, I've always felt welcomed whenever I go here.
If you want a good meal just order off the menu, although they look at you like you're crazy if you ask for the menu while the buffet is going on. This is expensive, but then again so is 12 dollars with tax and drink for the buffet.
