Back in November of 2012, Patxi's opened their doors in the Cherry Hills community with hopes of becoming the neighborhood's go-to place for dinner out. Â Four months later Patxi's has an ever growing crowd of regulars who stop in for a glass of wine after work, appetizers with friends or an easy family dinner.
While Patxi's might be known for their traditional deep dish pizzas, I think the real stand-out is the salsiccia pizza from their thin crust options. Â The subtle flavors of the garlic-fennel sausage blends perfectly with the creamy ricotta, fresh basil, gooey mozzarella and a hand-pulled crust. Â The ratio of crust to tomato sauce is just perfect and the same can be said for the ingredients on top. Â The flavors are spot on and the end result is a creamy blend of flavors, bite after bite.
Bonus... a Cherry Creek location is opening next week so regardless of what location you choose, make it a priority to go check out Patxi's. Â I know I will be heading back soon for its neighborhood appeal and to taste my way through more of their menu.
Just a couple of things to add to my previous reviews based on today's lunch:
Their arugula salad with Grana Padano cheese is excellent. Â The greens are fresh, the cheese is delicious, and the dressing is perfect.
Their pesto is really great (had a chicken, pepperoni and pesto slice).
Ok, not only is Patxi's food totally delicious, but they seriously get the gold star in customer satisfaction.
Having a hankering for pizza and happy hour, we strolled in here on Friday a little after 5:00 and placed ourselves at a booth in the bar. With happy hour until 6:00, hubs and I had plenty of time to order drinks and peruse the menu. The wine is half-off ($3.50) and beers are also pretty cheap. We ordered the BURRATA with pesto and the MEATBALL to start- both half off during happy hour. I asked if I could get carrots or celery to go with the apps since I am avoiding gluten and the apps come with foccacia. They offered to make me toast points with the gluten free crust used for pizza. How awesome is that? They brought it out with both apps and it was delicious!
The server kindly let us know when happy hour was about to end so we could order another round if we so desired- which of course we did. Kudos for that.
We finished off with a gluten free margarita pizza with mushrooms and it was tasty! They do a great job with the crust and the sauce ratio is perfect- just wonderful. I believe it was only a $2 upcharge for the GF crust.
We will keep returning to this lovely spot for the yummy food and fantastic service.
The jury is still out.  I ordered the deep dish for delivery and it came on time, nice n hot.  It was very good.  Not sure good enough for the price, but the ingredients were certainly fresh.  I especially like the fact that the sausage is of good quality.  I didn't get any gristle.  The complaint is that the crust is too salty, and so is the tomato sauce.  Not  indelibly salty, but too salty for me.  I was up half the night guzzling water.  I'm not surprised tho, coming from SF where they appear to over salt most things.  I bet the cooks are smokers.  Can't taste the food. I would give this a 3.5.
The mixed review is for the sorry pie I got two nights ago. Â Decided to try the thin crust. Â It was 14 inches IF you measure it rectangularly. because that's what we got--a sloppily tossed, undercooked, cool temp pizza. Â Yes, it came on time, yes, I can reheat it. Â But that's not the point. They shouldn't have let this pizza out the door. Plus, Â it was the salsiccia. Â It says it has torn basil. Â They should amend that to "a torn basil leaf" cuz that's about all it had for basil. Â Also, it was not pulled to perfection, because if it had been it would have had a somewhat chewy/glutinous texture... Nope. Â Just all dry and dusty. Â This one was a 2.5
To the owners of this place; Â Go to Chicago. Try Giordanos for deep dish and Piece for thin crust. Â Then make pizza.
Good pizza, very friendly and attentive staff
- probably the best deep dish Denver has to offer
- 45 wait for a medium pie (no bueno)
- 45 tab with tip for pizza and two sodas (no bueno)
- medium pie was 8 huge slices and we took 5 pieces home (es bueno)
Next time, I'll make sure I'm not starving as I'm walking in the door and that we order a small pizza pie.
After our initial Yelp event prior to the opening of Patxi's, we returned not too long after that to enjoy our new Deep Dish location once again.
Seated in the main dining room with a $1 PBR with Yelp check in was honored and was appreciated. Â
Word to the wise, deep dish pizza takes a long time to cook so if you're going the deep dish route expect at least a 30 minute wait. Â This is no surprise people, to expect the wait. Â
After a long peruse of the menu I decided to split a large "Special" with a fellow dining companion. Â This includes, garlic fennel sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Â Looking back a medium would have been just fine for two or for three people, these pies are ginormous. Â I also split a salad, the Chopped Salad I think, herbed chicken, spicy salami, mozzarella, veggies, kidney beans, accompanied by a roasted garlic vinaigrette. Â
The salad was a welcome sight prior to the pizza arriving. Â Our waiter knew we were splitting the salad so the salad was brought to us already in separate bowls, a very nice touch. Â It was fresh and definitely wet my appetite for the pizza to come. Â The pizza came and I'm pretty sure their were gasps all around the table when our pizza's arrived. Â We ordered a lot for the table, eyes bigger than mouths (you know how it goes). Â The "Special" was absolutely salivating, this is that moment where you can't think about what your eating and just enjoy the flavors, the sauce, all the cheese, the meat, and the veggies. Â If you think about it, you'll start to realize the weeks worth of calories your consuming - don't think about this it will ruin the experience. Â After two pieces I was completely overly stuffed and in a food coma - the way I like to be after some amazing pie. Â
Our waiter was a joy, can't remember his name for the life of me. Â We were able to chat with the owner for some time and he was a pleasure to talk to and you can tell he loves what he does and takes constructive criticism well.
I can't wait for the Cherry Creek location to open and to revisit this location. Â It's wonderful to have some good quality Deep Dish in CO. Â Who would have thought?!
It's next to impossible to find decent pizza anywhere that's not the east coast, in an east-coaster's opinion!
So when I got the Thrillist e-mail talking about these guys opening up shop in Denver, I was intrigued, because those pictures look DELISH.
My first impression was that it is a bit more upscale than I expected, but in a good way. It's clean and open, and the staff is welcoming.
We went the first week they were open and they were truly polished. The service didn't miss a beat and the manager even stopped by our table to give us a few t-shirts.
The pizza is fantastic. The thin crust is crispy and their toppings are awesome and creative. We tried the deep dish during our second visit and I have to say that I wasn't as impressed, but are there people who actually like deep dish pie? Because if there are, I haven't met them.
I am, as usual, conflicted a bit about this place. Â First of all, I generally avoid chains and this looks and feels like a chain to the max. Â Not a fan of the location but there is one coming to my neck of the woods within the next couple of months and I expect I'll be in their delivery zone.
Pros:
- It's clean - almost too clean. Â I like a little history with my pizza personally (so maybe this is a little bit of a "con" too).
- Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
- The food is obviously quality. Â Fresh, fresh, fresh!
- No wait at 1:30 pm today - in fact, there were probably only three other tables in the place.
- Cheap beer and appetizers after 2:00 pm (not sure how long this lasts).
Cons:
- You are going to wait for that deep dish - half an hour or more so call in or be prepared to wait. Â I can imagine with pizzas taking that long the turn over at night must be pretty slow and the lines would build quickly.
- You'll need a salad or an appetizer to see you through to pizza delivery. Â That salad (butter lettuce, Pt. Reyes blue cheese, bacon and cherry tomatoes today) will run you $8 and it is not really shareable - delish but pretty small. Â Certainly won't keep two people busy while you wait for your 'za.
- The pizza today was not fully cooked. Â Below room temp in the center - disappointing. Â Shared the "Classic Meat" - all elements were superb and classic Chicago style - just not hot all the way through. Â Not cheap at $25 but could easily feed 4. Â The crust is AMAZING though and I ended up eating the crispy exterior and leaving the lukewarm middle.
So, not totally blown away but of all the chain pizza joints around this is clearly the best of the rest. Â Lunch and a couple of beers today topped out at $67 including tip but she took way more than half of the pizza home. Â We'll order more salad and a smaller pie next time.
Best deep dish I have ever had. I might even go so far as to say it's the best PIZZA I've ever had!
It's that good.
Seriously, if you're looking for some serious pizza. This is the spot.
My brother and mom had been raving about this joint ever since it opened up a few months ago and begging me to go check it out. Man, were they right! Toppings, no toppings, it doesn't even matter. I've had four different kinds and each is just as amazing as the first.
I've already been twice and I plan on going back whenever I'm in the mood for pizza...which is usually always.
This experience completely made up for the lackluster experience on my bday. Not only was I contacted by the corporate office and offered a gift card, I was immediately recognized when I came in with no notice. The management truly cares about their customer base and works hard to right a wrong. I can't wait for the Cherry Creek location to open up so I can eat here more often.
The chopped salad is so hearty and delicious and the antipasti platter is a home run. everything we have eaten is truly delicious. Not a bad item to be found...
I love pizza! But the problem is so does my big belly which I'm trying to get rid of. So I have to watch those portions. Well the perfect answer for that is the lunch deal at Patxi's where you get one of their great regular size salads (the chopped was really good and worth the $2 upcharge) AND a slice of one of their thick or thin crust specials of the day (two choices for each) AND a soft drink for $9.99. Works for me. Couple good beers on tap and I got to sample a bunch of their stuff at an event here earlier and it was all good so I am definitely a fan.
Review Source:Fabulous service and food! Â 5 stars +!
A group of 8 of us from Texas stumbled upon Patxi's on our way from the airport to the mountains . Â It was 1015, they close at 11 and the service and food couldn't have been better! Â Lots of beer and solid wine selections paired with delicious salads and pizza... Will definitely make this a part of our annual trip to Colorado! Â Frank was our server, very knowledgable of the menu and very friendly! Â Thank you Patxis for a fabulous start to our weekend!
Solid Chicago style and neopolitan pizza.
Must try: Burrata Bruschetta--one of the best apps I've had in recent memory. I've been trying to compile a list of 50 Best Dishes in Denver for several years now and the BB is worthy of a spot. It's that delicious.
I'd also recommend the Prosciutto & Arugula pizza.
Service was swift, friendly and very attentive.
My only complaint, which is a major issue at this particular location, is that the interior is very unappealing and uncomfortable. I was surprised that more consideration was not invested into such a crucial element of the customer experience.
The entire space is way too dark and cold. My friend and I could hardly read the menu and they need to install a divider by the front door. Every time someone goes in or out, freezing air rushes through the entire dining room, which is quite unpleasant and distracting when you're dining--especially around this time of year.
Omnomnomnomnomnomnomnom..... Is that enough noms? Do you get the idea? OK. Because this pizza is seriously amazeballs. Yes, I said it, Amazeballs.
A group of 9 of us came in on a Saturday night to celebrate the birth of one of my favorite Yelpers miss Courtney B.
We came in and they had a great big table ready for us. We ordered some appetizers (we got a few meatballs *drool* and a few orders of the Burrata Bruschetta *slobbermmmmm*) which everyone was happy with.
Then it was time for pizza!
The pre-selected flavor combinations were GREAT. We ordered a BBQ Chicken, a Margherita, a Bianco Verde (my personal fave), a Prosciutto & Arugula, and I think a few more that I can't remember. All of them were phenomenal.
The service was alright, though our waiter didn't seem very happy to have the responsibility of taking care of such a large group.
I will definitely be back to get my pizza noms on!
Nicely done, Patxi's! Â I had one slice of each style and enjoyed each. Â The thin slice was pepperoni only and the deep dish was a daily special with sausage and red pepper. Â Very well crafted pie. Â It's obvious the owners care and are trying to make a distinction in this town about this style of pizza. Â I also had a simple arugula, shaved parmesan salad with black pepper. Â The Iced tea was cloudy, but tasted good. Â The interior is minimalist with polished concrete floors, exposed brick, chrome and black accents, clean uncluttered lines, enhanced by mirrors that give the illusion of more space. Â The service was overly doting like happens with so many places near opening, but that's hardly a fault, it just does not give a true sense of what the service is going to be like. Â My main waiter was very much on top of things even if two managerial types also checked in on me and a stray runner also had follow up questions while bringing me a refill. Â Not a bad word to say about the food at Patxi's, I'll be back for sure.
Review Source:Oh my gosh this place has the best pizza! Â We went there for lunch this past Friday and had a really good experience. Â The food and service were excellent. Â
I ordered the lunch special which is a great deal, salad, drink and deep dish slice for $9.99. Â I happened to order their veggie pizza which they were out of at that moment and I would have to wait 30 minutes. Â Instead they brought our a veggie pizza on a thin crust and comped my whole lunch since they didn't have the deep dish ready! Â Wow that was generous. Â We also ordered the BBQ Chicken and Bacon pizza, it was to die for and I am super glad I got to try the deep dish pizza because it certainly is their signature pizza. Â
Will definitely go back and order delivery often. Â My new favorite pizza place.
My friend recommend this place, the location was in the middle for both us and with all of the great reviews I had to test it out.
Our server (VERY friendly and helpful) was patient and allowed us to make a decision (first with wine, salad and finally pizza)
We settled on splitting the caesar salad (pretty standard), then moving to the prosciutto and arugula pizza. I don't know if the dough was the best or the ingredients, but it was good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but very good pizza.
The 3 star food (very good, but nothing to write home about), 1 star added for the awesome service!
A few months back I went back to California for a visit in the old hood and my friends took me to the Patxi's in Hayes Valley. It was amazing, and I was sad to come back to Denver were we had to settle for Uno's for "Chicago" style pizza.
Well what do you know, a few weeks later I was driving by the University and Hampden intersection and what do I see - PATXI'S! YUM!
I ventured in on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was about half full with a steady stream of customers coming in. They were offering a lunch special - A salad, a pizza, and a drink for about $8. We were hungry for more than just one slice so we opted for salads - greek and arugula, and the Special Pizza. The salads were tasty and so was the pizza. Once complaint was the wait time between salad and pizza (i know, I know, deep dish takes time) but we were informed that we could have called ahead and they would have had our pizza waiting when we came in. Over all, I was pleased to see the Bay Area favorite doing it right in Denver.
It would be so hard to top Tiffany's most recent review, that one is discouraged from even trying. Â My first follow-up visit for Patxi's (post Yelp Event) was extremely positive. Â I love it when the staff and management remember you from a previous visit. Â The folks here seem genuinely friendly and provide excellent service. Â I enjoyed a couple nice cold beers before my pizza arrived. Â It was $1 PBR's with Yelp check-in. Â That may be the lowest common denominator of macro-brews (despite the hipster chic appeal), but it did hit the spot. Â
For my pizza, I went with a Chicago deep dish combo. Â I enjoyed the "Special", which has Garlic-fennel sausage, fresh sliced mushrooms, green peppers, yellow onions. Â They cheerfully swapped out the green pepper for red pepper at my request. Â This was one tasty and substantial pie. Â We ordered the 14", and each ate two pieces. Â This left us each with two each to take home, and it made a hearty lunch the next day. My pie was flavorful, filling, and wonderful. Â
It is funny, just a year ago I found myself griping about how impossible it was to get real Chicago-Style pizza in Denver, and now I find myself with multiple excellent options for this epicurean delight.
I feel a bit like a Dr. Suess character when talking about my history with Patxi's pizza...
- I have eaten Patxi's by the Bay.
- I have eaten Patxi's by the mountains.
- I have eaten Patxi's in the Marina.
- I have eaten Patxi's in East Bay.
- I have eaten Patxi's in Noe Valley.
- I have eaten Patxi's in Hayes Valley.
- I have eaten Patxi's in Englewood.
- I have eaten Patxi's meatballs.
- I have eaten Patxi's salads (most of them in fact.)
- I have eaten Patxi's Chicago stuffed crust pizza.
- I have eaten Patxi's thin crust pizza.
- I have eaten Patxi's whole wheat crust.
- I have even eaten Patxi's gluten free crust.
And, yes. I DO like them all Sam I am.
Pro tip - order your pizza before you arrive or while you are waiting to cut down on actual waiting-at-the-table-for-pizza time.
This location is beautiful, the staff is super friendly, and I'm like The Pointer Sisters when I think about the fact that Patxi's has come to Colorado - so excited and I just can't hide it.
We loved loved loved Paxtis when we lived in SF and I am so happy that they moved a little east and that their Denver location does not dissapoint. They have the real Chicago style pizza with the sauce on the top, the yummy crust (I think its cornmeal) and the layer of meat. Their ingredients are fresh and their sauce isn't too tomatoe-y.
Review Source:Fantastic. My family went here on Friday around 5:30; by 6pm it was packed, including a hopping bar scene. Â Still, service didn't suffer, everything was terrific. We had the signature deep dish and a thin crust; both were excellent, served promptly (well, as promptly as deep dish gets, worth the wait). The meatball appetizer, which doesn't sound like much, is a must try. Our server Kyle was great, attentive but not overbearing. If you go with the deep dish, be warned: a small pie can feed two people with leftovers aplenty.
A caveat: this is not your typical pizza "joint" with cheap, low quality food slung at you by bored teenagers. It's a real restaurant, with consistently high quality food, professional staff, and a great atmosphere.
My third visit to Patxis, will return. Sounds like another location is opening soon in N Cherry Creek; if it's half as good as this one, it'll be a hit.
This is what you have always wanted your pizza to be. All other pizza places are dead to me. Patxis has fresh, quality ingredients, and amazing service. You will be well taken care of here. Deep dish or thin crust you wont be disappointed. Love the Zoes meats from Petaluma. I will be a regular here, and my Grandma is in the delivery area, so she will be seeing a lot more of me!
Review Source:My favorite pizza place in town! I sampled some of their Chicago style and thin crest at a yelp event and was very impressed with the quality of the ingredients and the flavor. Today I ordered the Salsiccia (Garlic-fennel sausage, fresh ricotta, torn basil, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, tomato sauce). It was absolutely delicious! If I didn't have to share it with my boyfriend I would eat it all by myself in 20 minutes. LOL. It's a little bit pricey but given their quality and freshness, I wouldn't mind paying a little extra.
Review Source:We ate here again tonight and it is obvious this new restaurant is a notch down from the 5 star rating I gave it last week. We ordered a deep dish pizza in advance. Not sure that was a good idea, as the staff assumed we would want nothing else to eat on our arrival. Service was confused and awkward, although a manager did help to sort things out. The pizza was a little overdone, the bread served with the meatball we eventually got was dried out. I guess there are growing pains. Still good, but considerably short of the great I expected following our luncheon here. The  $82 cost for 3 people sharing a 10 inch pizza is on the high side when service and food are average to disappointing. Some of the cost was for drinks, a salad, and a meatball, but still it seems like a lot of money for what we got.
Review Source:Zachary's, I mean Patxi's, comes to Denver! I'm kind of odd in my pizza preferences, either I like the Italian minimalist version or fat Chicago style. Â And when it comes to Chicago style I'm a diehard Bay Area Zachary's fan. Â I have tried many other places that others have claimed to be as good or better than Zachary's and until now none have come close. Â Enter Patxi's. I will let you in on a little secret: Patxi used to be a manager at Zachary's then left to spin off a chain of pizza restaurants in the S Bay and SF.
I deliberated between the Greek and doing a custom spinach and mushroom; I eventually went for the former. Â It was chock full of green olives, red peppers, artichoke hearts and feta. Â The sauce was well seasoned. Â The crust was a tad heavier than Zachary's, but there's also the altitude factor. On the downside, I wish the location wasn't in a strip mall. Â All in all a great pizza.
Helpful hint:
Phone ahead for Chicago style if you don't have 45 min to kill waiting. Â Another option is to order it half-baked.
I have been here several times already as I am opening a store in the same shopping area. Everything that I have tried so far has been FANTASTIC! The service is what you would expect from a new establishment. Everyone is learning the system but they are efficient and friendly and that is what counts.
I really like my pizza and I have been to nearly every highly rated pizza place in Denver and beyond. Patxi's has it's own style and the quality and freshness of the ingredients shine through. While not the cheapest pizza in town, the food is wonderful.
WELCOME!!
AMAZING! Took the boy, a Chicago native, and impressed the socks off of him for being able to find a place in Denver that makes a LEGIT deep dish. Read everyone else's reviews for details, I'm far too stuffed to say much else about all the little things. Here's what you need to know: CHEESE. SAUCE. CRUST. MEAT. Did I mention Cheese? Because that's kind of key.
Got the Special Deep Dish. I'm so happy.
Got the Burrata Bruschetta. It's probably my favorite presentation and style of this dish I've ever had.
I'm pretty sure the entire staff stopped to talk to us, multiple times. I think the owner said he would put my artwork in his office if I did a good job (Being that deep dish takes upwards of 45 minutes to arrive at your table, I totally asked for the crayons and paper that they gave the kids seated next to us)
Great experience. I'll be back for that giant meatball appetizer for sure. And of course the pizza.
The newest addition to my pizza rotation is Patxi's. Â I came here for the First Bite Elite Event a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Â Last weekend I came back with Matthew S to introduce him. Â I'm really a thin crust kind of guy, but when they told us about the slice of the day, a spicy bacon cheeseburger deep dish, we were sold instantly. Â We asked for a whole pie, and they gladly accommodated us, even though we learned that it wasn't planned to be sold as such. Â It was truly delicious, and massive! Â In fact it fed us for a couple of days following. Â We also had the meatball and that was very good.
Everybody who works here is very friendly and accommodating, the whole experience was great both times I've been here. Â Both thin and thick crust is worth trying, and the toppings are primo! Â Not to mention a good tap list, wine and liquor selection, and for those of you who attended the Elite event, they put cushions on the bar stools, so it's far more comfortable. Â If there's one downside, it's that the price is a bit steeper than a lot of other pizza places, but it's still marvelous food and service!
I highly recommend Patxi's, and I see myself frequenting this place too much.
After trying for months to find legit Chicago Style Pizza in Denver only to flat out give up years ago, Denverites are FINALLY in luck. Â Cheesy Gooey Saucy Crusty goodness. Â Fresh ingredients, friendly staff and REAL CHICAGO style pizza...not lame deep dish. Â I really like the sauce, but with Chicago style it all comes down to the cheese and they hit it. Â Patxi's could compete with some of the big ones down int the Windy City (Lou Malnati's, Geno's etc)
If you've never had Chicago style come to Patxi's, it's legit...will be back again and again and finally I don't have to have Chicago Style pizza shipped from Chicago, I can just drive down 285. Â WooHoo!
So pleased to have a great pizza place in my backyard. Great ambiance, good service, and a menu that is laser focused on two types of pizza (Chicago 'Stuffed' & Thin Crust). They import their meats from Zoe's in Petaluma, CA obsess over details like flour - different flour types for different pizzas, and they have a killer red sauce that is made fresh daily. What I ordered: A deep dish 'Favorite' ($21) which was saucy and yummy, Thin Crust 'snack size' pizza ($4) with Zoe's Garlic-Fennel Sausage which was amazing (for the kids, yeah right), and I also sampled the Butter Lettuce salad ($8) that was dee-lish, but I thought it was on the small side for the price. On whole, Patxi's has solid offering that beats the pizza chains hands down. They also deliver!
Review Source:Pizza really should be the 6th food group. Â Chew on this for a minute:
a) percent of Americans who eat at least one piece of pizza per month: Â 93 %
b) slices of pizza that are eaten each second: Â 350 slices
c) total number of pizza's sold in the U.S. each year: Â 3 billion
I'm definitely doing my part to contribute to these numbers and with the opening of Patxi's in Denver they may actually get bumped up a bit more, especially when they open up their second location in my hood. Â For now, I will gladly drive out to University and Hampden to pick up one of their tasty, gluttonous deep dish pies.
The first thing is getting the pronunciation correct for this San Fran based pizza chain: it is not Pox-Tee's but rather Pah-Cheese which is explained on their pizza boxes. Â You have to say it fast so it sounds right, and to make sure that you get enough practice, you probably will want to come here a lot. Â
So now that you know how to pronounce the name you must decide whether or not to go for the Chicago deep dish or the Italian style thin version. I don't discriminate between styles of pizza like others do since I love all versions of pizza, but I think that Denver could use a good deep dish and so I wanted to try Patxi's version.
Let me tell you this is a very respectable representation of what deep dish is all about: packed with cheese and really fresh ingredients and then topped with tomato sauce, all sitting on an unusually flaky crust. I tried the medium sized deep dish "Special" which consisted of a flavorful but not spicy garlic-fennel sausage, lots o mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. This is one of my favorite combos and this "Stuffed" pizza was everything I have come to expect from the Chicago School.
The medium pie has eight slices and I had two slices for dinner and was totally satisfied. This is some serious deep dish folks, no messing around - you may want to practice your heavy lifting because I was not prepared for the heft of a medium when I picked up the box. The prices of their pies may seem high at first ($21/$25/$29) but since the medium can easily feed four people this actually represents a really good value.
When I visited Patxi's, on their second day open to the public, the opening team was really on top of their game: the person who took my order via the phone was super friendly and when I went to pick up my pizza, the host saw me coming and opened the door for me (classy!), and it seemed that 10 people were lined up at the register to greet me, answer my questions, and handle my payment. I peeked into the kitchen too and there were at least 20 people working the ovens. Great first impression.
Great Kickoff to the Patxi team!
We were treated well at your grand opening event, and I thought I would write some highlights while fresh. Â Speaking of fresh, I like the fact that this place does not even OWN a freezer. That's a good sign.
Of the starters, my favorite was the meatball. People may think "how can you screw that up?" I've seen it happen, but not here! The sauce is first rate. I also enjoyed the artichoke dip with crostini.
Next up was the salad. I tried a couple different types. The salad with chicken and the variety of other items was outstanding, and almost a meal unto itself. I, howver, love veggies, and the salad with the arugala and other very bitter almost smokey greens and a light tangry dressing was awesome. VERY fresh.
Finally, the pizza. I had a slive of deep dish spinach and red oinion. I like this deep disch because it was not a doughy gut bomb. It highlighted the sauce and toppings. Perfect.
I also had the thin crust fennel sausage with ricotta. I like mine a little crispier for some crucnh, but the flavor was dead on.
I look forward to seeing you again!
