I don't know why you would ever order from here. I usually run down as its in my bldg. The guy today put me on hold 3 times for about 30 mins. When I told him that he'd picked up the phone and put me on gold twice, he said " we're busy" and put me on hold again. No apologies..well..you've lost me for good as a client and I order from you a least once or twice a week.
Review Source:The absolute worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ordered 4 sandwiches, 2 turkey, 2 italian;
Could barely find any turkey, and italian sandwich had a sour taste;
Also, was chastised for not answering my 'home phone' while driving to pick-up order;
Was told they wanted to make sure I was coming, since my address (15 minutes away), was so far; but, I had just received their advertisement in the mail.....
Wish I would have read these reviews first!!!!!
Really surprised to see so many harsh reviews. Â We're not talking about Michelin Star restaurants here, people.
I can generally agree that this tastes like an upscale version of Papa John's, but that shouldn't be perceived as a negative thing. Â Obviously, if you want "good" pizza, sure you can fork over $5+ more for something that's meets the standards of your exquisite palette, but this is cheap pizza. Â Most of the places around me are terrible, and come in a pizza box that's greasier than the pizza itself... I wanted an alternative and went with this place because I got a menu in my mailbox.
They offer lots of different dishes, the calzones are quite good, and the meatballs are also decent for "low budget italian" The wings left a lot more to be desired, yet they are still better than I've had at some places.  I thought the pizza was actually decent.  It was just what I was expecting, nothing fancy.  If I wanted to be Mr. Moneybags and get the best pizza in the world, I'd just have Joël Robuchon cook one for me personally.  But this is delivery pizza we're talking about.
They offer weekly specials and lots of coupons, which will take about $5 off your order, generally. Â If lazy mode should strike me, I would order from here again.
I am reviewing this place based on. Dine in experience. I ordered a personal pepperoni pizza and garlic bread. My order was taken promptly and my food came out shortly thereafter. I'd rate the quality of food as good. It's a fast food pizza joint nothing more but that suited my needs at the time (easy walking distance from the united ctr)
Review Source:DO NOT waste your time or money with all the other options we have in Chicago for pizza. I ordered two pizzas about 3 weeks ago and they arrived cold and all smashed on one side of the box, this was after waiting for 2 hours, 45 minutes longer then they stated. I called to complain and the manager apologized and offered me a refund or new pizzas.. Since we were already almost late going out I asked if I could decide later. Mgr agreed and said that my info was saved by my phone number and I didn't need anything else than to call again. Â After heating up the pizzas in the oven they seemed to have promise with the unique toppings. Well today I called and asked about my credit because I decided to try them again and wanted to give a second chance. The women on the phone essentially laughed at me when I inquired about it. 2 hours is one thing to wait to be disappointed, but to then have the same crappy performance 3 weeks later it shows this is one business that should not receive any patronage.
Review Source:Yuck. I usually make my own pizza or frequent places like Homemade Pizza Co, but the BF wanted to try something new, which I unfortunately agreed with.
We ordered a BBQ Chicken pizza online with a note that we were using a coupon for an additional free medium pizza as well as instructions to come to the side door of the building. Apparently Pepperino's employees can't read because we got a call 40 minutes later from a lost delivery person, who happened to be carrying only ONE pizza. I called to complain, and if you order online, your info is automatically inputted into an order form which prints for the cooks. They don't read the notes. Â Strike one.
Strike two, and an even bigger deal, was the pizza itself. It wasn't very good. We both agreed to never order from there again. Although my BF was certainly enjoying it at 2am when he got home from the bars, so maybe its just that kind of pizza...
There are so many better options out there for pizza - save yourself the pain and order from one of those!
WORST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES!!!!!!!!!! Â I HAVE NEVER WRITTEN A REVIEW LIKE THIS - DO NOT GO HERE.
If you ever want to be treated like complete sh_t, eat bad, tasteless food - go here. Â Otherwise, STAY AWAY!!!! Â Look at all the other posts as well - it's unbelievable. Â We ordered chicken parmesan. Â What arrived (an hour late, no less), was spaghetti with chopped up chicken in red sauce. Â The receipt said "spaghetti". Â When we politely called to have the order fixed, "Devon" yelled at us - told us (literally) to: "Look up the recipe for chicken parmesan online and call me back - it's what you have." Â Then HUNG UP.
We called back and again politely told him that we had, in fact, looked up the recipe - each of which obviously calls for whole chicken breasts, sauce, and cheese. Â And he refused to admit he had just messed up the order, and either reverse the charge or send the correct dish.
We have never been treated like this. Â He hung up on us (after yelling) again.
Stay away from the most disrespectful idiotic employees in the restaurant industry.
I don't understand how anyone could ever order anything from this place. It is absolutely awful. The only people that would order from this so called pizza joint, are clearly not from Chicago, or the surrounding burbs. The people that order from this place do not get pizza, or care about the quality or taste. I live above the place...and no matter how desperate I was to eat....never would I dare eat there. That place is a JOKE! Here's a little advice to all you peeps that think this place is good....If you now reside in Chicago....live like a true Chicagoan and treat yourself to what is actually is good Chicago pizza...There are tons of great places out there...and not hard to find. Pepperinos just plain sucks, I'm not quite sure it should even be put in the category of food. Totally inedible!!
Review Source:If I could give this place no stars I would. The customer service is horrible. I ordered a pizza from them and they never delivered it. When I called to find out where my pizza was, Lucas, the manager said it was still at the pizzeria. I told him I didn't want it and he apologized and said if I called back tomorrow he'd give me at pizza for 50% off. I called back the next day and he claimed he never said that. He then proceeded to hang up on me when I asked for his boss. I called back twice and he answered and hung up. I called from a different number and he hung up on me twice.
What kind of service do you think you're going to get when you're treating customers like this????
Never again. Â We ordered delivery, and despite living less than 10 blocks away it took an hour and a half. Â The pizza was almost cold, not even luke warm by the time it arrived. Â To add to all of this, it's maybe Pizza Hut quality, probably a little lower than that. Â With all the other options available in Chicago when looking for pizza, why waste time with this?
Review Source:I ordered this through Grub Hub so you'd think having everything spelled out for them would help them get the order right, but sadly that was not the case. I only got two items and both were wrong. I didn't realize it was that hard to read a receipt and fill an order correctly.
If you actually want the food you order, I'd suggest another place.
Absolutely the most terrible customer service I've ever gotten! Ive been living in my current location for 10 months and we order food 2-3 times a week. Never had any issues! I ordered piazza from this place. They called me an hour later telling me to go pick it up from the front gate!!! Which is 2 blocks from my house. When I rejected it the manager from the restaurant called with veryyy rude attitude saying either go pick it up from the front gate or we'll cancel the order!
But as always 5 stars to grubhub! They called me the day after, appologised for the terrible service, gave me my money back and gave me an extra $10 credit to order from another place! :)
Will never order from here again!
If you're a fan of Papa John's pizza but just can't bring yourself to order it on general principle, you might want to give Pepperino's a try.
Same doughy crust where the toppings start a good 1 1/2 inches in giving a mammoth edge. Â And what do you do with that crust? Â Dip it in marinara, of course.
Same weirdly generic cheese. Â
Same slightly underdone consistency.
Same cheap prices. Â Check the website... coupons are abundant!
Same lackluster sauce. Â Would some salt or seasoning be too much to ask?
If I still had drunk college girl tastes, this place would be my jam. Â Easy on the wallet, unoffensive, nothing to really throw you off your game and they're open super late.
Went to Pepperino today because I had a craving for a slice of pizza and had a strange feeling that something was missing from my experience. That missing "something" was PIZZA. Not just the pepperoni slice that I wanted, there was no pizza of any sort ready. 12:10pm, a time known to most as "lunch," when hard working folks get a hankering for food throughout the land. Much like going to a wedding were someone got left at the alter, I was disappointed, stunned and uncomfortable when told that I would have to wait 15 minutes for any sort of pizza to be done .No idea what kind it would be either, since apparently the act of actually making pizza apparently affects the short-term memories of the staff. If you want to think about eating pizza, go to Pepperino. If you actually want to eat pizza, may I suggest anyplace else at all.
Review Source:FIrst of all, the estimated delivery time was between 45min-1hour. We're only 2 miles away.
Second, the driver was 40 minutes late.
All we ordered was some mac and cheese bites (which arrived cold and soggy), some cheese fries, and a two liter of pop.
When I said to the driver, "Do you realize you're over a half hour late?" He didn't even apologize. Just dead silence until I was out of sight.
This place is worth less than 1 star. Never again.
I'm very surprised by these reviews. I loved this place! The first day my boyfriend and I ordered from here, we did it twice in one day. The Basil Lover's and Spinach Lover's pizzas are the bomb! Delivery is nice and quick...and free! How do you beat that?
Be sure to ask for the pizza sauce on the side. It's amazing for dipping crust.
Pizza was not good at all. Sauce was weird and sweet, under done, doughy. Also ordered wings which were so disgusting I couldn't finish one even though I had a cold and could hardly taste. Macaroni bites were horrifying. Gave the leftovers to my friends husband who then had diarrhea the entire next day. Also his coworkers asked him what he was eating that stunk so bad (it was the wings).
Review Source:I love this place. Â Is it the best pizza in the city? Â Probably not. Â Do they have a great selection of weird pizzas to try when you're in the mood for something non-standard? Â Hell yes. Â Are they two blocks from my condo? Â Yes.
My husband and I have made it a personal life mission to try every one of their specialty pizzas, starting in alphabetical order. Â Not one has been bad and while I haven't tried their standard cheese pizza yet, I am not disappointed. Â This neighborhood needs a good pizza place and this is definitely twelve huge steps above that disaster MOD was.
So far we've tried Chicken Alfredo, BLT, BBQ Chicken, Basil Lovers and Cheeseburger. Â I can't say I can pick a favorite because they're all so distinct. Â The pizza is pretty doughy but that's my style, I love bread and they give you dipping sauces so it all works out.
I order delivery...they have pretty good coupons, the ones I use are the 10% for any web order, and the one-topping pizza for 10$ or something like that.....I like that they only charge you for 2 toppings even though my bf and I get 4 (half/half). I thought the pizza was a little greasy but it was pretty good in my opinion. With the coupons, the large pizza goes from 18$ to 11$. yay!
Oh, and free delivery + no delivery charge = great
Tried this place recently. Chain pizza places usually suffer in quality but I have to admit, for my tastes, this is actually pretty good pizza. Its thick, cheesy, and they have a great selection of toppings. If you order online, as I do, you can apply coupons for a lg 3 topping pizza (you get like $6 off) and you also get a 10% off for using web each time. I also ordered a 6-pack of Pepsi so after the coupon codes it went from $26 to $17 and change. Not too bad! I'd say give them a try. The city is filled with medicore pizza joints but these guys do a good job!
Review Source:I tried this place because it was in my building. However, I am slightly disappointed. I got the calzone but the dough was horribly undercooked to a point is was literally solid dough inside. I was told onions would be in it and they werent. For a LARGE calzone, it was average size ( maybe even smaller) and at 10.99, it was overpriced. Ricotta was extra, which I found out when I got there, but the girl happily took it off. I will probably try this place again for a salad, but again, I was disappointed.
Review Source:I live in the building where Pepperinos is in. It's pretty good if you're in the area or need to call for a delivery. Inexpensive and convenient. I hope they do well, especially with the lunch, Bulls, Blackhawks and other United Center events.
However, I wouldn't rank this anywhere near Lou Malnatis, Giordanos, Coalfire or Salernos.
