Was out looking for live music on Friday 5/3 and happened upon the Soul Satellites w/ Bonnie Hayes here. Â 10+ stars for the music, vocals, etc. Â They seemed to be having a great time and the crowd was great as well. Â Was not packed AT ALL for only an $8 cover charge?? Â
Yes the place is a dive bar. Â No doubt there. Â The seating area that is 'next' to the bar is pretty odd. Â Diner style chairs, booths, to many lights, etc. but a place to sit and still hear the music, I guess?
I liked the back patio, some interesting metal sculptures to take in. Â We played a few games of pool and had the tables to ourselves.
Just had beer and club soda so can't attest to the quality of cocktails, but all of a sudden it was 1230 AM and it seemed like we had been there but an hour. Â I would call it a worthwhile stop and will be back! Â
I did not really notice the ladies room as anything special-but the water was hot in the sink...which is always a bonus for me.
Had a blast! There was a live band playing the night I went. They were pretty epic in their washed up neo hippie grunge rock way. The bartender definitely earned her tips that night! My favorite part hands down was the womens bathroom and its incredible/horrifying shrine to Elvis. Impressive little dive bar!
Review Source:Went here for a Giants game. It was first time I have been here in years. I was welcomed by billowing cigarette smoke inside the bar. They illegally keep the outside door open to the patio where all the smokers are and refuse to keep it closed. The bar is completely filled with second hand smoke and pretty much intolerable.
~The Bartenders are surly and the chick bartender is a straight up liar! Told the other bartender I had insulted her which NEVER happened. All I wanted was to have the door shut as the law REQUIRES. Several other customers were happy I was shutting the door and a few of them helped me keep it shut so we could all breath happily.
I remember when this was a fun place to go but I will never be back. Never been treated with so much rudeness by a bartender. If this was my business they both would have been fired on the spot fro talking to a customer like they did to me. I hope the ABC comes in and revokes their license for such disregard to customer health.
I have reported this bar to the California Bureau of Tobacco Control. All tehy had to do was be nice for a few hours and I would have ignored it. But they chose to be  ******** and now they are going to be contacted by Jhonny Law.
My favorite live music venue in Fairfax, maybe all of Marin. Virtually any night of the week they have great, fun and interesting music. The crowd is always diverse and fun to watch. Drinks are decent and reasonably priced. Feels like someone took a fun neighborhood bar in San Francisco and plopped it down in the middle of our fun quirkly town.
Review Source:I love Peri's, so so so much. It's a classic dive, with the requisite pool tables, low stage and crappy PA, cheap cover and drinks, fairly polite doormen, and chill bartenders who really know their stuff . Then you have the Marin add-ons: pretty garden area, outdoor smoking patio, amazing local bands and events, harmless weirdos dancing alone, and the unique personality of Fairfax, which I think maybe should secede from the union and create its own country, with a cabinet with positions like Minister of Guitar Tones and Secretary of Yoga and Hiking, Â single payer health care, and no leash laws.
Only thing I don't like is that on the rare occasions when I'm not drinking like a fish for whatever reason, Â and I go in here on a saturday night at 11:30 and everybody in the place is stinking drunk and yelling at each other and hitting on each other. It's so---what's the word. Boring? Â And there are a lot of regulars who know each other and are in there EVERY NIGHT. But hey, Peri's is a bar and it is a dive. If you're down with that, and you love music, you'll probably love Peri's.
By far my favorite Marin bar. Â The live music is consistently good, the bartenders friendly, and the locals welcoming. Â Just don't expect to get a pool table if you go on a league night because there are some serious pool players here! Â If you wait till league is over they are usually more than happy to help give pointers to newbies. Â Great outside seating area, but if you don't like smoke you might not love sitting out there because most people are smoking. Â
Don't miss the bathrooms!! The girls is covered with Elvis memorabilia and the boys has Vargas girls(or so I've been told). Â
Julio, the bartender is fabulous and can make just about any drink you might want. Â Don't be afraid to try the local favorite, "The Shirtlifter"!
Terrific live music venue - I wish I lived closer so I could go more often.
As others have noted, Peri's has a very friendly crowd, an excellent sound system and great selection of bands. For smokers - not me - the huge smoking area right next to the bar but still under cover has to be a plus too.
Just to give you an idea of the warm welcome you're likely to receive at Peri's.... when our band first played here I didn't know the layout, so parked my car in the entryway next to the bar to unload. The bartender saw me and immediately came out. At any other bar that would have been to tell me :"You can't park here!", but at Peri's he'd come rushing out to let me know it was easier to unload if I moved my car near to the back door. Says it all.
You know all the stories you hear about Fairfax? Â This is what they're were talking about.
This is a great place with live music seven nights a week. Â
Large outdoor patio with heat lamps and big backyard area in redwoods, During the summer they do live music on the outdoor stage on the weekends. Â
It is a slice of Fairfax! Â
The locals are all great and the bartenders are wonderful and funny.
He called Terra Linda tow on me  when I parked in his otherwise vacant lot to go Christmas shopping one weekday afternoon. I would never hog a space when the place is busy but I've never seen anybody in there before 5 PM so I figured what the heck. I mean, even Bank of America doesn't tow and everybody parks in their lot.
Kinda hard to get excited about going there ever again
Love, love, love this place! It's part of what makes Fairfax my favorite town in the bay. There is a great mix of people who frequent Peri's, from people in their early 20's to locals who have been in Fairfax longer than I have been on this earth. Peri's isn't a social contest - there's co mingling of ages, races, lifestyles, etc. This place is NOT a meat market and I don't feel the need to cover my ass walking through crowds (ladies you know what I mean). There are two outdoor seating areas, one up front by the street and the other behind the bar (more of a garden like setting) - GREAT for the warm summer months. The music is always good and if there is a cover it's a reasonable amount. I can't say enough about my favorite little bar. You'll have to come and experience it for yourself :) And make sure to check out the bathrooms while you are there.
Review Source:This place is for loosers. I'm a very liberal person, like all kinds but this place has bad vibes. Went there and had some drinks with my hubby on date night and instead of driving home intoxicated, a waitress said I should leave my car. Well, I did but they had my car towed. Â They must have something going on with the tow company, terre linda tow. VERY suspicious dealings happening here. NO signs indicating time limits or tow warnings. A bartender resembling a rat on heroin was the one who had my car towed. His life must suck. Like I said, bad vibes, very suspicous. I am taking them to small claims court.
Review Source:This place has a cool vibe to it... sometimes...
I've had alot of fun in this place, but a few months ago I got a really sour taste in my mouth.
Some lady that was bartending who I'd never seen before (mid to late 40's, with jacked up hair and tons of wrinkles, looked like she'd been up doing meth for the last 5 years) asked me "What the f*ck do you want" when I approached the bar to order my drink.
I asked for a jack and coke, and as she walked away I heard her mutter "F*cking idiot.."
Keep in mind, I've never met this delusional drunk ever in my life before this. So a drank my drink, waved her tip in the air in front of her, stuffed it back in my pocket and went to Nave's where you never get bad service.
Keep in mind though, that was one bad experience, and for the most part, this place is great!
I love this place. I love the retro outdoors. The quirky regulars. The rocking Open Mic. The relatively clean bathroom. The pool tables. The decoration. I love that I walked in here by myself a couple of days ago and no one (outside of a random, but polite gentleman) even seemed to notice.
I love that they keep quality local music alive, while keeping the heart of a lasting venue alive as well.
Trust.
This is one of those places where you can't help but have a good time. The cover is not exorbitant, the bands range from interesting to good, the clientele is eclectic and the drinks are strong.
Additionally, there are pool tables, there's an outside seating area and the bathrooms are amazingly decorated.
Mike and Julio are both fantastic guys; go on Friday nights to catch them working the bar.
I did my first live Solo Performance here (March 9th, 2008). Was my first time to Peri's and from the moment I walked in I was struck but the super chill vibe. CASH only bar..
Great LIVE music (not just because I was playing :D ).
Nice stage set up for bands and solo acts as well. GREAT, GREAT local, chill, bohemian crowd that was super excited about everyone that played that night!
Will be Back to play  to see other LIVE music and play again @ Peri's !!
1920's style. Small town flavor. I find myself hangin out here every so often. I just love the Art Deco Bar it's so pretty! The back patio/ garden area is really where it's at in the summertime. They have bands play every weekend and open mic nights througout the week. Â What I really admire is the hot pink restrooms, all done up with glitter and cute quotes about "the last time I saw Elvis".
Review Source:When I lived in Fairfax, I often came here on a Friday or Saturday night to listen to live music and drink beer.
Fairfax doesn't have very many places to go to at night so this is a little gem.
This place can get packed depending on who is playing. Â During the week it's just the locals.
A very slow-paced bar where you can hear local musicians express musical expression and their songwriting craft. Â At times, this bar becomes packed while other times their are only a handful of regular Fairfax peeps frequenting this bar.
Summertime Bar-B-Ques in the back yard, Weddings, jam nights, whatever may be held here. Â Nice heated outdoor, covered patio area for smoke stacks.
Nice pool tables. Â Ask for Mr. Very Cool ~ Tim Bush! Â Cover charge is Friday & Saturday, the rest of the days are free cover. Â Volentary tip jar for musicians playing at Peri's.
Odd, but funny thing is you never know "who" might show up to jam or hang out at this bar! Â O=;-D
Heads Up! Â Watch out for Officer Friendly skulking the ENTIRE Fairfax area for peeps who go over the speed limit by THREE to FIVE miles an hour! Â Speed limit in Fairfax=25 MPH!
Please use that cruise control and mark your speed at EXACTLY 25 MPH or get a ticket!
Peri's is a great place for live music...you can see great shows for free during the week and weekends the cover is usually only 5 bucks. Open mic nights on Mondays are a blast.
Awesome music, gorgeous backyard (really! Check out the landscaping!), nice big side patio, great bartenders...fun!
5 stars. I was here a few weeks ago and caught a Johnny Cash cover band called Rusty Evans and The Ring of Fire....or something along the lines of that name.
It was fun. It was rockin. ANd Peri's has become a new favorite joint for this little betty. I look forward to rockin' and rollin' here again....
Peri's is like a home away from home for me - I always feel relaxed and welcome. A nice covered patio, plus a big backyard with horseshoes in the summertime. I miss when Van Morrison's mom used to hang out here! Good strong drinks served by friendly staff. Watch for the Fairfax fuzz though - you're definitely better off walking home. As Geezer Don once said - Where the neon meets the wilderness...
Review Source:On my first big night on in Fairfax I visited 2 of the 3 bars.  First stopped at 19 Broadway w/ a $10 cover and a band that wasn't very captivating. Had an okay  drink but there wasn't really a crowd and it was cinco de mayo.
So we walked down the street to Peri's, paid a $5 cover and am so glad we did! The had an awesome Rockabilly band that had all the patrons grooving. Stepped out to the patio with a weird grotto looking thing. And then to the back to play pool. Julio the bartender was a lot of fun, thought I am not sure if that is his real name - possibly a made up cinco de mayo name. who knows.
We had a great time with good drinks and friendly people!
Drove from the city through neighborhoods with cute, tiny shops, about 5 miles from 101N to get to Marin County's version of a "dive bar" to see Bob's Driveway. Â
Dude with mohawk collecting my $5 had zero attitude. Â
Large covered, walled-in patio with tables, booths, heat lamps and faux-rock feature that is part Madonna Inn and part Fraggle Rock. Â I knew that there were Doozers at the bottom of that thing. Â Or just cigarette butts.
Clientele probably is slightly different on different nights maybe, but I got the feeling that there were a few regulars. Â Hippychick donning a tiara screeching "Lemmehavvashottathat!" Â and fifty-something denim grinders, dancing to anything at all. Â Everyone seemed to just be having a good time.
Bartenders were so sweet, zero attitude as well & one even offered me another glass of water. Â I didn't drink all night because I was driving even further north after the show & I'm glad I didn't have anything because there were a TON of cops just circling the bar area and then even more on the highway nearby. Â
In the crowded bar, I was bumped twice and both times, the people apologized sweetly. Â
WHERE AM I?!?
Fairfax. Â
I think they're just nicer in Fairfax.
