I like this restaurant. It has a cute atmosphere, and pretty nice wait staff, plus the food is good. There are some strange variations on regular meals--for example, lox doesn't come with a bagel, but REALLY HARD bread instead. I've eaten here three times though, and I have to say, I enjoy it. I will keep going.

Had lunch at Petite Chou today with some friends.  Three of us ordered the Petite Chou Chicken Salad.  It came on some greens with a muffin and some fruit.  The fruit on all three plates should not have been served.  The bananas were brown and the apples had rotten spots on them.  This was a $10 plate, so really all you got to eat for $10 was a scoop of chicken salad and the muffin.  Quite pricey.  The chicken salad was good.  When a complaint was made to our server, she wanted to know if we wanted her to box the rest of our meal up to take it home. (? really ?  the fruit is not edible) The manager then came to our table, but she didn't really seemed to concerned either. She did offer to bring out more fruit, be we were all done eating by then.  And our point was why was the bad fruit served in the first place!  In the end my meal was discounted by 99 cents!
We will not be going back to this place for lunch.

Petite Chou is definitely a nice, classy place.  Super professional waiter, low lighting, comfortable seating, huge windows, and so on.  Petite Chou is decked out to look like a snappy little bistro you would just sort of happen upon while wandering the streets of Paris.  It's successful, for the most part.

The frites were great, but not quite on the level of a place like Brugge.  Even still, you can't go wrong with duck fat frites.  The dijon mayonnaise was also delicious.  I'm thinking it was probably a mistake, ordering a burger at an ostensibly French place.  It had housemade aioli, caramelized leeks, sauteed mushrooms, and Brie, and it all came together and ended up tasting like absolutely nothing.  If I end up here again, I'll have to get a croque monsieur.

Something about this place didn't sit well with me during my visit.  During my meal I definitely had the sense of being transported to this alternate-reality, low key-cool French universe, but at the same time I couldn't help but think something was just a bit too deliberate and constructed about the place.  It must have been the oozing tendrils of Clay Terrace - a quarter mile of concentrated yuppie syrup given form as an upscale open air shopping center.  Part of me secretly wished I would have just gone to Brugge instead.  In fact, both times I've been to Clay Terrace I secretly wanted to be in Broad Ripple instead.

Good frites though.  Gotta love that duck fat!

Lovely setting. It was just beginning to snow on the Friday evening we popped in to Petite Chou. I could have sworn we were somewhere far, far away as we looked out into the snow white streets. The smell of coffee and bread soothed us after a cold workday.

Our server was professional on all accounts.

We both ordered the burger with frites. The frites were excellent and we devoured them! Similar to Brugge, they were flavorful and crisp.

As for the burger, the toppings of house made aioli, caramelized leeks, sautéed mushrooms and Brie piqued our interest ...but unfortunately were somehow bland. The burger itself had not properly seasoned  and to our taste the burger was overly done. Neither of us ate much of it.

We enjoyed our cocktails very much. I can see us going back here to try coffee and desserts, and perhaps to indulge in more fries. Can not recommend the burger.

Late night drinks and dessert at a small patisserie with good friends! Great low key ambiance around 8 PM on a Friday. If you are looking for lively look elsewhere but this is the perfect place for good conversations, a good cup of Joe, a well made cocktail and fresh baked dessert.

Service was fun and had excellent cocktail recommendations. The ginger strawberry cocktail is a fun twist...I don't remember the exact name but super fun!

This a refreshing little bistro wine bar just off the Clay Terrace shopping center. There are many great dining options in the area but this one gets 5 stars for being most unique.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! We ordered the duck fat fries (small) since its just between myself and my hubby. We ended regretting it. We should have ordered the large one since they were so good. We ordered the crepe complete and the chicken paillard. They were both so delicious!

They also have a good selection of champagne. Though I'm not really a prosecco drinker, I'm glad they have some good selection of bubblies from Champagne, France. They have Crüe and Taittinger.

Of course we didn't skip out on desserts. The crepe selections were great. My hubby was absolutely in love with their cinnamon sugar crepe with bananas.

Overall, it was a 5 star worthy experience. The decor was great. The wait staff were professional. The host staff was friendly.

Had brunch on a Saturday with some of my best friends recently.  I love the decor, definitely noticeable as soon as you walk in.  A couple of us started off with a mug of their special coffee.  Also had a couple champagne cocktails, one Mimosa and one framboise (w/ raspberry syrup).  Unfortunately, nothing to go crazy over.

The duck fat frites are well-seasoned, but they didn't live up to the hype. They're not as crispy, since they're not double-fried (tà la française).

Soups are nice choice on chilly day.  We all had a little taste of the Croque Madame.  My trip to Paris last year spoiled me because I thought it was just ok.  My favorite part of the meal was definitely the "Warmed Mushroom Duxelles."   It came out piping out with some good french bread.

One of my top Indianapolis area restaurants. Small, elegant, quiet, and quaint. The various crepes are my attraction. The duck fries are a great addition to any meal. The salads are very green and very tasty. Great selection of imported cheeses for your wine or beer budget. But my kryptonite is the bacon dinner crepe. It's totally ridiculous, and probably contains a whole side of bacon!

They have some good custom cocktails - not really my thing, I like draft beer - but unique nevertheless. Definitely romantic enough for a Valentine's dinner (offset from the actual day to avoid the frenzy).

Service has been good each of my visits. Not spectacular, but not sloppy, either. Management obviously has notions of staying in business, so poor service isn't on the menu.

So cute! I just love it. I originally ate here for the first time in March when I was staying in the north part of Indianapolis. I wanted to check out some places in Carmel, so my mom and I decided to have breakfast here (we had dined at the Broad Ripple location the day before).

This place had a cute polished ambiance, different from the Broad Ripple location but still great. I loved all the art work on the walls of Paris and the St. Germain picture.

Flavored/drip coffee bar (Self Serve... I like!) was great. My omelette was the omelette of the day. I can't remember what exactly it had in it now, but it was delectable. Service was friendly and prompt, despite being packed.

I also have now gone back with both of my parents and my husband while my parents were here helping me move into my new apartment in Indianapolis. Went for breakfast again, and it was still super tasty. I got a different omelette this time the standard "Everyone's Favorite" and it was so good. Also, the brioche toast with the cinnamon sugar on it. Get that. Just get that, don't bother with the jam... while good, the cinnamon sugar is where it's at.

Lavender champagne cocktail. Yeah, you should most certainly try that too.

And we split a small duck fat frites so my husband and father could try them. Everyone was pleased.

Eat at Petite Chou, and I'm fairly certain you will be pleased.

My husband and I were in Carmel, IN for a long weekend.  We decided to go to Petite Chou on a Saturday morning about 9:30am.  The ambience was high end breakfast place - very french tres chic.

We were immediately seated by the gracious hostess.  We did partake in the variety of coffee (chocolate flavor being my favorite).  After being seated and enjoying our coffee, we waited and waited for our waitress to come to our table.  I finally went up to the hostess to let her know our waitress had not been at our table yet.  She apologized and we probably waited another 5 minutes before she showed up at our table.  I would say we waited approximately 15 minutes before she arrived.  I am not sure if she was out partying the night before or if she was just flighty but she was not all together that morning.

I ordered a specialty omelette with a side order of the cinnamon bread and an extra order of frites.  My omelette was very bland tasting, nothing spectacular.  The side order of cinnamon bread was tasty.  The frites were decent also.  My husband ordered a broken egg sandwich, which was average tasting at best. Prices were reasonable.

Overall, we were a little disappointed.  Coffee was excellent.  Food was mediocre.  Service was subpar.  We expected more but found Petite Chou to be just another breakfast place.

I took my cousins there for dinner.  They both loved it!  Service was wonderful.  Food amazing.  We had the warm beet and goat cheese salad as an appetizer. Amazing!  The girls are from out of town but want this to be a regular when they return.

Went here on a visit from Chicago and really liked it.  First impression was fantastic-- friendly hostess, coffee while you wait, adorable and chic decor.

I had a yummy bloody mary and got the crabcake with sunny side up eggs on toast.  Very tasty crabcake, the only downside for me was slightly too much aioli (but I generally dont like more than a dab).  The only reason why I didnt give it 5 stars is because my husband said his omelette was just ok.

Overall, our waiter was very pleasant, the menu has a ton of delicious sounding options, and it was great atmosphere.  We'd love it if they moved to Chicago, but in the meantime, will be sure to go there anytime we are in the area!

I've been a fan of Patachou and Petite Chou for years now. The service is always excellent and everything in the menu is good. The portions are very generous and especially the breakfast is one of the best anywhere.

My absolute favourite is the housemade granola with yoghurt and fresh fruit.

I've only once had a problem at Petite Chou (Clay Terrace). I was entertaining a group of 8 friends and our orders took forever to be delivered. When they did notice how long it took for them to get our food (1 hour wait), we were comped everything except the alcohol (few beers + wine). Good way to handle the situation by the restaurant and we left feeling not too bad about the situation.

Went here twice in a weekend visit to Indy since I liked so much! If you're looking for something to eat that is on the lighter side, this is the place to go. Great cafe portions...not too much, not too little. I stuck to the crepes...and Duck Fat Frites. Yum. The decor is really cute and all of the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back on my next visit.

Let me start by saying that we have not been to any other patachou locations but this one. We have had breakfast there 3 times and lunch once. In our experience, service at breakfast is better than at lunch even though they are packed at both times - more so at breakfast with people waiting outside for their turn. Food is very good. We have tried the broken yolk sandwich, croque monsieur, croque madame, burgers and tuna nicoise. Barring the nicoise, every other item has been good. We will be frequenting this place often.

This is one of my all-time favorite places to visit for brunch. My personal choice is the french toast, a side of bacon, and of course the banana nut coffee. Great atmosphere, great food, great prices. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast.

This is by far the best breakfast/brunch/lunch place in Indy. This is a cute, more frilly version of the Patachous in Indianapolis, with a cute patio for dining. I've never ordered anything on the menu that I don't crave from then onward. I typically go with an omelet (ALWAYS choose the cinnamon sugar toast) or a breakfast/egg item, but the ratatouille crepe was my newest try for lunch & it was wonderful! A bit pricey, but worth every penny. I find myself yearning for Patachou, as I've moved to the West Coast....

This location of Petite Chou is so not up to par to the one in Broad Ripple. In terms of food quality that is.  Nice decor, great service, albeit there were only 3 other tables in the place, but the food not so good! Well, good but not as good as I expected. I've never had a disappointing experience at any of the Patachou brands or locations. Except this one.
I had the Croque Monsieur. I know. I was being a little wild and crazy by not getting a Broken Yolk sandwich. Fret not, I paid the price for momentarily losing my mind. The béchamel sauce was below the intended plain soft sauce it should be. I swear I could taste the flour. Not good. Then the ham. Oh the poor ham!  It was overcooked, dry and without flavor. Yes, I said ham that had no flavor. Even the battered and pan fried bread couldn't make up in flavor for what the meat lacked. It is entirely possible that the ham was microwaved and then they put the sandwich together.

It's the last time I'll dine at this location. It's probably the last time I'll stray from their yummy french toast and broken yolk sandwiches. Sometimes experimenting is more an act of insanity and less of an act of daring!

It could have just been an off day, but the meal I had at Petite Chou a few weeks ago was truly terrible.  The seasoning and sauce were just plain bad, and for the price I would have expected more.  Perhaps it was my fault for ordering seafood in the midwest, but the meal also made me (and my partner, who had the same dish) pretty sick.  Just a warning.

There are a few things I do like about the place, so, in list form:
    1. It is clean
    2. The service is friendly
    3. Their menu is a bit different and somewhat diverse, at least for Indianapolis

But having eaten there more than once, I would have to say that the cons outweigh the positives:
    1. Though friendly, the service is not very good -- especially when it comes to refilling water glasses and such.  I had to ask for more water, which should simply not happen in a place like this, especially on a slow night.
    2. The menu is hit or miss (maybe ask before ordering?)
    3. It's a bit pricey

So, there you go.  A two star review in a sea of four and five stars.  I really wanted to like this place, but after my second visit, I can't say I'll be going back for a third.

This is a nice little French cafe in the Clay Terrace shopping center.  Unfortunately the view is ruined by the Dick's Sporting Goods across the way.  This semi-upscale restaurant is a good spot for a night-out, brunch, or even lunch.

Their duck-fat fries really make any meal perfect.  So order it as an app or a side.  The menu looked like it had some great savory crepes, but the broken yolk burger was calling my name (burgers at a French restaurant, I know, but it was a craving).  Cocktails are actually pretty good too.

Our waitress was super helpful and really nice considering we had a difficult customer in our party.  (For the record they don't have Appletiser, nor should they)

4 stars for having the best food in Clay Terrace.  I've been to all the other places and even Kincaid's is not as good.  I'll go back and try something else.

I went for brunch and  loved the menu! Wonderful crepe combinations and variations of ham and egg sandwiches. I got the omelette of the day, and I love it. It was stuffed with bacon, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and green peppers. The mushrooms were very flavorful and not so overcooked you missed their distinctive flavor in the egg. My side of fruit was fresh, and my cinnamon toast such a treat. Like breakfast dessert.

The only hiccup was I didn't have the best waitress. She kept forgetting my tea, lemons, etc... She was nice but forgetful.

I wish I was in Indy more often to visit this place!

The ambiance was adorable and well worth the visit.  The service was very prompt and friendly.  The food was merely all right, but then, I think if we had had something different or had gone for breakfast instead our review would be better.

There were three of us and we split appetizers of Mac and cheese with guyere and bacon and the crabcake - all were delicious.  We then each did a different crepe - this was our mistake as they really weren't that flavorful and were not hot or even warm.  I had chicken and mushroom and the sauce was not creamy or rich as I had imagined.

For dessert we has one of the desert crepes, the profiteroles and the lemon tart - they were all just ok.

I'd come back but I'd probably do brunch rather than dinner.

Sadly it used to be better. Coming from Miami and driving to visit our son and daughter to Purdue and UI this place was perfect in between for a great breakfast- brunch -Lunch
The fries are absolutely delicious! The rest was ok, nothing special.
The service was slow, and the quality of the food was nothing to impress.

When you pay $15 for lunch, you expect an amazing food experience. The ambiance and service is fantastic, but the food was not. The bread was soggy and way too much cheese (and I love cheese). The soup was also bland. Big disappointment.

Petite Chou is just different enough from the main stream that it will appeal to all.

My wife and i have been going there for a weekly breakfast date for the past three years. The Broken Yoke Petite Chou Sandwich (over easy egg, brie, mushrooms) is a perfect balance of flavors.

For dinners, the specials are always good. On the static menu, the rotisserie chicken is usually great.

The service has always been great.

The noise level is perfect for actually having a conversation. No loud music to kill the senses.

I no longer live in Indiana, but every time I want brunch, this is always what I want.  They have really good, bold coffee and I like how you can serve yourself.  The omelets are really good and my favorite is the cinnamon toast.  It is consistently good food and service.  We often have to wait for a table (not too long), since people know how wonderful this place is.  Cannot wait to come back here in September when I'm back home for a visit.

It pains me to do this, but I have to give a bad review to Petite Chou.  Let me preface this by saying I lived in Indianapolis for four years and frequented Cafe Patachou on a weekly basis.  I was a huge fan.  Thus, when I learned about existence of Petite Chou (or "Patachou with Wine" as I call it), I was pumped. Too bad for me, the experience at Petite Chou did not live up to my expectations.

First, I'll start with the service.  It wasn't great, or even good.  With the disappearing act our server kept pulling, I thought we were at a magic show!  We were repeatedly  left with out drinks, side dishes, silverware, condiments, etc.

On to the food.  I had the crab cakes.  I must say, they were fantastic! Unfortunately, I also had the macaroni and cheese which was more like a soup.  They could opened up a box of Kraft and offered a better product.  Seriously, if you're going to have a whole section of your menu devoted to macaroni and cheese, shouldn't you know how to make it? My friend had an omelet with chicken and vegetables.  The omelet was reportedly good, except for a few large pieces of chicken skin and bone lurking inside. We had crepes for dessert, which were good.

All in all, I was totally disappointed.  Next time I'm in Indy, I'll certainly visit Patachou, but Petit Chou--probably not.  Judging from other reviews, it looks like I just came on an off night.

Affordable, delicious French food in Carmel!  I've never really eaten much French food, so I figured I should give this place a try.

I started my excursion by splitting a large order of fries with the table, and they were absolutely delicious.  Just the right amount of salt, rich flavor from the duck fat, and creamy aioli/dijon mustard.  Afterwards, my croque madame continued to impress me.  The thick brioche, juicy ham, and sharp gruyere made quite a substantial sandwich with bold flavors, and the bechamele sauce was a splendid way to bring it together.

The field greens on the side were heavily overdressed though, which is the only thing keeps this from getting a 5 star review.  There was just way too much oil and not enough acid; some mandarin orange slices would have accented it quite nicely.  Next time I'll know to order dressing on the side.

Service was excellent, and the entire meal was only $14 after tax/tip.

This is a regular spot for my family. There are several things that I love about this place:
    1. Without a doubt they have friendliest staff in the city. They truly are a remarkable group of people that go out of their way to serve you.
    2. Fresh real food. There may be a lot of butter on your toast, but you know what? It is the best damn butter that they can buy. You can even buy it there.
    3. One of the only places in the city with a cheese course. I like cheese (my problem), many restaurants have done away with wine and cheese. They have not.
    4. Excellent crepes.

Dining is about the entire experience. They have great food, GREAT SERVICE, great atmosphere, and my repeat business. Yes, it is expensive, but when food, service, and atmosphere are top notch, then I really don't care as mush about the tab.

I am going to give this place a 2nd shot, b/c I liked the food.  I had a salmon Caesar salad and the salmon was GREAT.  I am always pleasantly surprised by a really good piece of fish in Indiana.  My sister ordered the Cobb salad and it was equally as good.  We were very happy with our meals and I intend on going back to try more stuff on the menu.

However, our service was subpar.  Yes, it was lunch time, but overall, our section was not busy.  It took over 15 minutes to have her come by.  We learned early to order ASAP so we ordered our drinks and food at the same time.  The food came out in about 15 minutes, which was perfect, but we didn't see our waitress again for refills or any other attention throughout the entire meal.  She was waiting on the table next to us, but avoided eye contact and stuck her butt in my sister's face.  Not terrible courteous.

I don't know if she was just turned off by us or what, but she had very little interest in us and in turn got a very little tip, which is not something I do, b/c I used to be a waitress.  But I do not appreciate being outright ignored with no apology and then sitting with an empty drink glass for more than half my meal.  She also didn't thank us.  Not a fan of that.

Next time, if she comes anywhere near my table, I will request to be moved.  Otherwise, this is a SUPER cute cafe, with a lot of appeal.  If you want outdoor seating, get there early or be prepared to wait.

It was a busy Sunday after church so we waited pretty long. Took a BFF to a bday lunch before taking off. Also our waiter forgot our duck fat fries and then comp them. By then I was too full to eat and enjoy. Food tasted amazing! From entree to desserts! I have always been a fan of French but this place makes French affordable. Will be back! Maybe very very soon. The hazelnut coffee gets five stars. That coffee is amazing. Everything else, gets a "blah." My best friend told me that this entire local chain was overrated. I hadn't been to any of the "Chous" in about 4-5 years so when I was in town for a wedding I decided to meet a friend here for lunch. Yep, it was pretty overrated and very overpriced for what you get. It wasn't BAD it just wasn't memorable. I'm inclined to give it two stars but the quality of the ingredients and the variety of food (for the Indianapolis/ Carmel) area gives it three stars. I got an open faced chicken salad and there was nothing special about it. The duck fat fries were actually more bland than regular fries. I do feel that Indy/ Carmel/ etc has very limited dining options so all things considered, it's alright.......

Enjoyed dinner at Petite Chou on a Saturday night. There was about a 15 minute wait to sit outside, the manager came and chatted with us while we were waiting and he recommended a nice bottle of Pinot Noir. I ordered a burger with a fried egg for dinner, it was absolutely delicious. It was a bit pricey, approaching $15, but one of the very nice things about this menu is that you can keep your meal very inexpensive by ordering breakfast food or you can have a very nice (and more expensive) steak or seafood. My wife ordered a salad, which was huge, and our guests ordered the nightly specials. One had halibut and the other had chicken, but liked their meals. The service was also outstanding.

I would certainly go back for dinner, lunch, or breakfast.

Since i love, love, love Cafe Patachou, but it's kind of a haul from my parent's house and usually entails waiting at least 20 minutes to eat, I was excited to try Petite Chou in Clay Terrace for its proximity and larger seating area. Came at about noon on a Saturday and there was NO wait for indoor or outdoor seating. To keep the good trends going, this Patachou restaurant has normal (aka black) iced tea, and the service was very quick. I opted for the tuna tartine (very nice), sister enjoyed the omelet of the day and Mom loves their Spinach Salad Club.

    They're open for dinner, too!

This is the newest addition to the Cafe Patachou family. With it's chic decor and excellent food, the Petite Chou at Clay Terrace is everything you'd expect from a Patachou restaurant. It also has a few extras: a bar and wine list.

I tried something new and went with the Breakfast Crepe Patachou. It was great, but I wished it came with cinnamon toast. One of my dining companions had the tomato artichoke soup. I stole a bite and it was amazing! So fresh and flavorful. We couldn't pass up the new duck fat fries. They were also very tasty (possibly my second favorite fries ever) -- but house aioli was too rich. Hopefully they'll add a few new choices for the sauces.

Patachous are typically a breakfast and lunch place, but starting April 8 this location will serve dinner as well. Can't wait to check it out the next time I'm in town.

A final suggestion, please put some sun shades on the windows. The front of the restaurant looks great with the huge windows, but the midday sun made us hot and required us to put on sunglasses.
