I came here for the first time recently. I live really close but never had the opportunity to dine-in. In comparison to other Portuguese-Brazilian restaurants in the area, the prices were average to above average. I ordered their Portuguese Steak w/ Egg & Prosciutto and I have to say, it was really good. Pricer than most places but the dish was well worth it. My wife ordered the Grilled Veal Chops and she thought it was delicious. Staff was friendly, the place gets packed during dinner hours and my only complaint was that wait time between apps, meal and the check.
Review Source:I've been coming to Picnic Restaurant for almost 5 years now. Â I don't know the staff or the owners personally but they've been consistant with their staff for the past 5 years which says something. Â If I go for dinner with the girlfriend I always call in advance and reserve a table in the backroom. Â If I go with the guys to watch a soccer game or some football I normally just come in and grab a few seats at the bar or a table near the bar. Â
As for the food, I def recommend to start with the red sangira with the clams casino, garlic shrimp and calamari. Â For dinner.. depending on your appetite - I normally go with a stuffed flounder or tilapia, seafood festival (parilhada) or steak with egg and ham on top (bitoque). Â I normally end the night with an espresso.
I've only gotten take out from here so I'm basing my review on that. I've also ordered four times here (mainly because I was in the area) and I don't like making baseless bad reviews but this one seems justified. You can order a lunch/dinner platter that is around $12. It consists of a sparse few pieces of chicken which have little to no seasoning, a pile of soggy french fries which also have no flavor and about 25 pounds of yellow rice. The last time I ordered was like pulling teeth in order to substitute vegetables instead of fries. The vegetables were again flavorless and a bizarre mixture of undercooked carrots and mushy broccoli. At least it came with some complimentary bread (no butter) that was cold and chewy. I'd imagine if you stuffed plain unseasoned food in a steamer you could replicate my lunch there. I rate it two stars because the food was at least edible
