The place is bright and clean, but it didn't look especially different than many other fast service restaurant. Â That changed when we tasted the food. It was some of the best Arab food I've ever tried. The kabobs are grilled over hardwood charcoal and according to the staff, everything is made from scratch. Terrific over all.
Review Source:Had the beef schwarma entree.Very good!!
Also, ordered a couple falafils.
Customer service is an A+
I asked to try the vegetarean grape leaves, so they hand-rolled me a couple to sample. How nice was that?! They were delicious!
They even gave me a free cup of tea. Was very herbaceous :)
Ordered delivery from Pita Puff twice, and was pleased both times. The Beef Shwarma was very tasty, the shish kabob was a little tough but had a great grilled flavor. The stuffed grape leaves were delicious. The falafel was crisp on the outside, but not greasy inside. The baba ganoush was tasty but didn't come with pita of its own, which was disappointing. Luckily we ordered extra pita bread. The yogurt and cucumber is a pretty run of the mill raita. The rice is always excellent. The Arabic cheese, however, was burnt and inedible, a shame. Free delivery for a five mile radius is a huge plus. Overall, a very good Mediterranean grill that, while not without it's flaws, delivers tasty food for a fair price. It's become one of my favorite places for delivery in the area.
Review Source:Super clean, super friendly, super authentic! Super cute job remodeling. Everything is completely fresh, made on the spot, immaculate. Fun soft music; sometimes the guys even sing! Nice service; the girls are great. Wonderful food, every dish has been excellent. Â Nice environment to have tea in and hang out with a variety of amazing and superbly rendered dishes. The soup is great and often offered to newcomers as a gift.
Review Source:LOVE! Im so happy to have a place that serves something other than pizza and on top of that, the food is wonderful. We actually dumped the catering plans for my sons birthday and are now going with pita puff. Im excited to have this business in my neighborhood. Thumbs up all the way around!
Review Source:Best Beef Shawerma Sandwiches I have have had in very long time. The kabob platter is fantastic as well. Always a tough choice of which one to order, so I usually get both ! Customer service is great and staff and management are Fantastic. I go here at least once or twice a week. This place is a diamond in the rough!
Review Source:I tried Pita Puff for the first time on a recent Friday afternoon. It was quiet inside, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the clean and friendly modern decor. The gentleman that I believe was the owner was immediately attentive and polite, and offered me a free, quite delicious I might add, tea. He didn't know it but I had been feeling under the weather and this made my day. I ordered the falafel platter and my husband had the beef shawarma. Â This was my husband's first time with shawarma and he said he really liked it other than an acidic type taste. He can be very picky so I don't know if this is a criticism of the food or if he just doesn't like shawarma in general.
Now my falafels? Fantastic. My husband is a big meat eater but said he would go back again and again just for the falafels, and he had to mention that they were better than my home made. They are crunchy and light and probably one of my new favorite Elgin eats. I saw that they deliver and if they deliver to the west side, I may be getting falafels quite often. Lets hope this place is here to stay.
Read reviews, thought I'd explore.
Came in today, I was greeted, place was clean, I ordered a shish kabob, & given a free soup to taste (which was good). It took awhile to prepare my order but thought it'll be worth it (based on good reviews), but when i came home I was very disappointed. With each bite of beef, I struggled! I kinda wished I ate at the cafe so they can see how I had such a hard time just eating the damn beef! the rice is ok. The hummus is good. Compared to other "Pita" named places, they give you less meat which wouldve been fine had it not been so hard like biting on to rubber. Not worth what I payed for. Thus, a bad first experience.
Granted this place is relatively new, they still have a lot of work to do.
Every month, work friends and I like to try unique places we've never eaten at before, and today's was Pita Puff in Elgin.
The place was clean and nicely decorated; the staff was attentive. That boosts it up to three stars at least.
I had beef schwarma and the others got chicken and lamb dishes. We all agreed that the large pita overdid the filling. Still, the taste was good.
What I absolutely must rave about was the hot tea. I am not exaggerating when I say that that hot tea, whatever it was made of, was the absolutely best hot tea I have ever had. Seriously. It was sweet without being cloying. There was no bitter aftertaste. Fantastic; I cannot say enough how good it was. If you like hot tea, it's worth stopping by for a cup.
This place is very clean and was remodeled nicely. I had a combination platter for lunch. and all the meats, the rice and the hummus were delicious. Also the portion is large.
The customer service was even better. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Would recommend 150% and ill definitely  be coming back.
This is one of the first and the best Middle-eastern restaurants around! The prices are extremely reasonable. Â I walked in and saw the menu, it was very organized and explanatory. Â I ordered a lot of different items and every one of them was outstanding. Â Everything tasted fresh and Delicious. Â If I had enough money I would eat there every day. Â I am so glad to have a restaurant like this in the neighborhood.
Review Source:Yum. Had the combination plate. Excellent! The rice was perfectly cooked. The meats were perfectly spiced and so tasty and tender. The hummus was so fresh and tasty. Can't wait to try the other menu items.
I also sampled the beef shawarma, it was also perfectly spiced, juicy, tender and very tasty.
My new favorite place to eat. East Elgin needed a good Mediterranean grill!
Nice clean and inviting kitchen and dining room. The staff were great and you could tell they really took pride in their food. I love that you can call in or order on the website and eat in, pick up or have delivery.
Brought a friend here for lunch as he was visiting from out of town. We're both lovers of Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, so we were hopeful that it would be good. We were not disappointed! The food is great and reasonably priced, the staff is as friendly as they come, and the place is well-decorated and upgraded from the last establishment that was in there. I'm looking forward to many repeat visits. The lentil soup is some of the best I've ever had!
Review Source:I took my wife here for lunch today and she was very skeptical and wasn't sure she would like it. I ordered the toshka and a beef shwarma sandwich. The toshka came with gherkins and tomatoes and a side of tahini and hot sauce. I had never had this before and it was really delicious, like a middle eastern quesadilla. Very flavorful. The swarm a was excellent too, the wrap was stuffed with lettuce, tomato and radishes, very fresh, clean taste. I will definitely go back. And my wife ended up really enjoying it, she was pleasantly surprised!!!
Review Source:Service was great!
I started off with hot tea, very delicious. Placed my order, it didn't take long to be served. Â I ordered the Kabob Combination Plate. Chicken, Lamb, and Beef Kabobs. Â It was served with hummus, on a bed of rice, salad, and the hot sauce was very good and a little on the sweet side, just right. Â Great deal for the price. Â This was my first experience eating Mediterranean food, I will be going back. Â From Naperville to Elgin, was well worth the trip.
The co-owner was sooo nice. Points for customer service for sure.
The menu is affordable and has a great variety.
The food, on the other had, was meh. It was fine. Definitely not bad, but there are better places around. The highlights: the tea...full of sugar and lemon, yummy? And the Labneh, wow, interesting very good. Give it a try.
My falafel was really just okay. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, but I really prefer Israeli salad in my pitas. The tahini was good, but the falafels were wet, they were definitely fried, but a bit soggy inside. Also, the pita...here's the major downfall, was dry and not good. As a means to eat the 'sandwich', it was fine, but alone, it was inedible. Disappointing.
I'm sure I'll go back when I get a craving, but maybe I'll try the shwarma next time.
Our group was 4 adults and 2 children when we visited this new restaurant. Everything was tasty and I would say the highlights were the combination plate (especially the shish kabob), hummus and fava beans appetizer. For drinks the kids had pop and the adults drank tea, which was spectacular. Overall, great food, great service and great prices!
