I wanted to like this place after a friend told me about Pizza Castle and reading the reviews here, but this pizza was average at best. Â I ordered an XL sausage. Â The tape measure, brought out because the pizza looked small, indicated it was a L. Â That had no bearing on the taste and quality of the pizza.
About 10% of the pizza was not edible because that corner was extremely burned, not well done, but burned. Â
When the pizza finally arrived at my house, 1 hour 39 minutes later, I am just under two miles away, the pizza was barely warm. Â The fries were cold limp grease sticks. Â Their menu, that states, "We Get "Em Hot To Your House" and "REALLY FAST DELIVERY" proved to be false, at least in my experience.
I would have been better off putting in a frozen pizza in the oven, it would have tasted better, would have been hot, and I wouldn't have had to wait so long.
I am on the fence as to whether I want to give this place another chance, if I do, I will post another review, and hope that that experience lives up to the hype and reputation.
Called in for a pick up order. I asked if the coupons were still valid and the man said yes.
I ordered a XL King Arthur and Box of wings with fries and I would get a free 1 liter pop. I asked to use the $2 off coupon and the guy told me to use the XL one topping pizza and box of wings with fries and 2 liter pop for $21.99 and just pay for the extra topping prices for a better price. So, I went with that.
After I hung up, I even told my guy that he was nice and even suggested what coupon to use to save.
Ok, so my guy goes to pick it up and when he came back he thought it was a bit more expensive than he expected. He said it was like over $30. Made me think.
XL King Arthur - $20.45
Box of Wings - $7.25
1 Liter Pop - Free
Total $27.70 - $2 coupon = $25.70 + tax
XL King Arthur
Box of Wings
2 Liter Pop
Total $21.99 + $5.55 (3 ingredients) = $27.54 + tax
I think it could've been a mistake, but I think the guy would know the menu enough to know which was a better deal. I know the difference is about $2, but left a bad taste in my mouth.
The wings were a bit salty and the fries were meh. Skip these! Also, I asked for only half green peppers on the pizza, but they made the whole pizza with.
Pizza was still pretty good though.
Delicious pizza with the best crust I have ever had and ultra fresh toppings. This is a nice family owned business that really cares about the quality of their food. My husband loves spicy food and if you get jalapenos on your pizza, they have a nice kick! They also have buffalo wings and sandwiches that are really good, too. If you haven't given this pizza a try, then what are you waiting for?
Review Source:Oh my goodness! This place is delish! I found this pizza joint from yelp and it did not let me down. I do not eat pork ~ but the parents do and I love the fact that they make their own sausage.
I go for the spinach, onion, and cheese.
Either way it is great.
I am always on the hunt for a good thin slightly greasy thin crust pizza.
This one hits the mark!
Good job Pizza Castle!
I remember getting the pizza on Halloween and if you went later in the evening you sometimes got a few extra pieces.
Their pizza is by far one of the best I've ever had. They don't need to change a thing.
Since leaving Evergreen Park, I don't get it as often. I'm over an hour away now. But when I'm in the area I make it a take out night and bring home a couple.
You just need to give it a try......you will be back.
The most underrated pizza place on the southwest side of Chicago. The key to the distinct flavor of their pizza? The massive old-school cast iron oven that literally takes up more than half of their space. It gives a wonderful warm and aromatic scent of the crust along with a crispy fresh texture. They even sprinkle a bit of flour to their double-dough pizzas, and it adds even more flavor.
My favorite: medium double-dough well-done with sausage and mushrooms. Do it!
Really great pizza. Â Last night I tried the cheese, sausage and pepperoni. Â All were great. Â They arrived piping hot just when they said they would deliver it. Â The sauce was perfect - not too sweet - just right. Â The crust (I had all three thin- I'm not sure if they offer others) was crispy/chewey and right on. Â The sausage was again right on - even better than Home Run Inn (whose sausage has a somewhat sour taste to me). Â The perfect amount of cheese was placed on the perfect sauce and crust. Â They were great. Â To be very truthful, if half stars were allowed I would have given it 41/2 stars due to two minor issues - Â the first issue was that the pizza was definitely on the salty side and the other was that I prefer my pepperoni pizza to have the pepperoni on top of the cheese - not under it because it adds to the crisipiness of the pepperoni. Â Having said that - these pizzas were outstanding! Â I would definitely order from there again. Â These are the best pizzas on the South Side. Â Better than Nick and Vito's and even better than Home Run Inn.
Review Source:Great thin crust pizza - very very tasty with good sauce and crust and ingredients. Â We always get sausage as at least one of the ingredients and it's great. Â Doesn't taste unhealthy when you eat it though either. Â Best pizza we've found within a couple miles radius.
Doesn't have eat-in area, but has an area to sit down if you do pickup and you can watch the dudes make pizzas.
I grew up in this neighborhood and Pizza Castle was a staple in our house. I have to say that NOTHING compares to their pizza. They make their own sausage, which is out of this world and they have the best thin crust around, hands down.
Ok, maybe I'm a bit biased since the owners were friends of the family. My dad delivered for them and my sister worked here for years, but that's besides the point. It doesn't change how good thier pizza actually is.
Remember when they would give out little pieces of pizza to Halloween trick or treaters? Wonder if they still do that...
Back in the day when you ordered, you always wanted your pizza made by Di. There was just something about how she made it that was so good. I believe they might have even added it to the menu (Pie by Di)?
Anyhow, the place is excellent. A great family owned business that everyone should stop at if in the neighborhood. Hey, you may even run into the infamous Father Bob to have a chat! :)
I dream of this place (especially since I haven't found anything as good where I am currently living)! I only wish they would deliver as far as Forest Park!
I lived only blocks away from here for years. It was practically the only place I ordered from for more than 10 years. The thin crust is honestly the bar I have set for other places. I cannot recommend this place enough, and while I do live in Logan Square now, I occasionally find myself only miles from Pizza Castle and make it a point to pick up some pizza if I have the time. As far as pizza goes this is my #2 pick south of Madison. And they carry 1 liters of RC!
Oh and I'm not sure if they still do this but I'd be surprised if they didn't. On halloween drop by with your kids and they have candy and pizza for everyone.
After moving to Brighton Park from the NW side not too long ago I went into food-shock. Â My options were slim, and if I wanted delivery there were only a couple places. Â Then one day I hear about Pizza Castle and my prayers were answered. Â Delicious delivery pizza that stays open pretty late. Â I tried a couple other places first (Piazanno's , Falco's) but none of them were as good as Pizza Castle. Â GREAT thin crusts, they make the sausage there and it is very, very tasty. Â Speedy delivery and really nice staff, this is my current favorite delivery. Â I have never gone wrong with the King Arthur (Sausage, GP, Onions, and Mushrooms... mmmm).
Review Source:I lived down here for a while a few years ago and found this place. Â I didn't realize at first, but this was the same pizza place (in name) that I had grown up on in the '60's (it was on Ashland near 51st then), but they still had the same pizza ovens! Â Very good, fennelly sausage, and lots of it. traditional Chicago thin crust. if you're in the neighborhood stop in for a slice/pie.
