Took our family here on a Sunday afternoon. We loved the food- really delicious. The waitress was very attentive and the food was out much faster than we anticipated. All top-notch marks for food and service.
I would have been happy to award a 5-star rating to this restaurant if it hadn't been for the inappropriate artwork on the wall above our table. I didn't mind the rock-star theme, but a huge picture of Madonna and Britney Spears kissing? I didn't want to look at that, and I really didn't want my children to stare at it.
I expected that this was a place where our family could eat and enjoy the atmosphere without having to worry about what the kids were going to see. It was a shame to be hit by something like that when there are SO many appropriate options that would fit the decor. We won't be back.
I've been to PJ Whelihan's about 3 times and it's been mostly the same experience every time: Â the food is good, the service is not. Â I've had a different server every time, and every time they are hardly ever around and not very quick to bring things when asked for them. Â They are also not very friendly and sometimes act inconvenienced when you ask for something.
I keep going back, though, for the delicious buffalo dip. Â You must try it if you haven't already. Â I've also enjoyed the Cheddar Beef 'n Ale, but was not impressed with the cajun chicken salad (way too much lettuce, not much of anything else).
Although I haven't been for this reason, it seems like a fun place to watch sports (there's a large bar area and a ton of TVs all over the restaurant and bar) and there seems to always be a fairly large crowd there.

It ends here, we keep going back again and again hoping for good/decent food- they need to put more effort into the kitchen staff as they do the front of the house staff-
The food is never TERRIBLE but it is never GOOD either- My salad was a sad mix of dirty lettuce and a FEW pieces of chicken- hubbies sandwich was the most  pathetic small bite of dry roll I have ever seen- Pub Club Turkey something,$9.00  for literally one slice of turkey, a teaspoon of cranberry sauce,  a dash of stuffing and 7miles of roll- good thing he was loving his beer! There was more salt  on his fries than on Route 30 during an ice storm! wicked bad~ service was decent, prices are high for the quality and quantity!
I've had the opportunity to come here for a couple of office related events. Â I wasn't sure going in what I would think. Â
PJ's strikes me as toeing the chain restaurant line. Â Kind of like the route Chickie's and Pete's is currently ruining their reputation with in my mind. Â When it comes to local based chains, I am of the opinion that once you get to more than three locations, you run the risk of being watered down. Â Overall quality control begins to suffer. Â Ingredients become less freshly made and more corporately made by cutting corners. Â
But I'll be generous. Â PJ's may be spreading themselves thin with locations, but they have some good things going for them. Â Beer selection is definitely one of them. If you can please a true beer snob, then you're not too corporate yet in my mind. Â
For me, their wings won me over. Â I did enjoy the opportunity to try them with various flavors of sauce. Â I was polishing them off with a group of people and thinking of getting more just for me. Â I will say that this place is definitely good for the beer and wings trip to watch a game. Â That's their wheelhouse. Â
I did also try their grilled cheese. Â It needed more cheese. Â Bread to cheese ratio was a little off. Â Someone call their corporate office and tell them to relax the cheese restrictions, will you?

NOTE: Lot's of Big TV's with a Pub atmosphere.
Go for the drinks, but don't go for the food.
My first time at P.J.'s, and probably my last.
The wait staff is VERY young and a bit clueless, but the guys seem to like that kind of thing. Â : /
The craft beer menu is very impressive, and my mixed drink was yummy and not overpriced at all. Â :)
The food was, well... not what I expected from the impression I got when I walked in the door. I ordered a steak, medium rare. I could tell just by looking at it that it was well done, but how well done was not discovered until my first bite. Every bit of moisture seemed to have been cooked out of the slab, that even my 16 year old 'bottomless pit' whom I had pawned the rest onto had a hard time choking down.
The veggies were very undercooked (and I prefer crisp tender even) and the potatoes were too fatty and salty. Husband being nice, shared a Buffalo Chicken slider - it was way overcooked too. Â :(
Great for a game - LOADS of TV viewing, and the pillar of beer looks intrigueing, but not insulated - anything I hate more than a leathery steak is a warm beer. Better drink up fast, or share with like 10 people.
So, looking for a juicy steak - go across the street to Chilis.
Burgers look decent enough to try - but I will stick with Victory for my total game/beer/food fix.
Stopped by to meet a few friends to coordinate the spring volleyball season. Â What i didn't know was this place has a great selection of beers. Â We tried some mildly spiced wings that were cooked to order (crispy), and an order of cheese steak nachos. Â I didn't care too much for the flavorless nachos. Â The restaurant is spacious with several TVs around the establishment. Â You can sit anywhere in the restaurant and be able to see at least five different TVs. Â PJ Whelihan's should try to do something about the acoustics. Â By the end of our meeting, we were all horse from having to shout to be heard.
Review Source:I love bar food so I can't go wrong here! Â The prices are good and there are different beer/drink specials during the week. Â There is a wide selection of draft and bottled beers. Â The service has always been good even on a busy Saturday night. Â The wait for a table on Friday's and Saturday's may be long. Â PJ's has a nice outdoor section with a bar that seems to be open year round.
Review Source:I had a great time at PJ's last week. It's an Eagles bar for sure, and an amazing place to watch a game- wall to wall tvs. My sister and I went about 1/2 an hour before an Eagles game, grabbed beers, and hovered around the bar for a few minutes until some seats opened up at the bar.
They have a huge selection of unique beers, and a full bar. Prices are reasonable and the servers were friendly, prompt, and informative. Â They had great food and app choices- we had the bay fries with dipping sauce, which was a large portion and delicious to share over beers!
This place is packed during sports games, so plan ahead. I'd recommend sitting at the high top tables or around the bar. That's where the most fun fans sit, so it's always a good time. Local tv and radio announcers come and do fan interviews. It's a great time and a good place to bring friends or your entire family.
I will absolutely be going to PJ's  again the next time I'm in the area.
Never did go to the previous restaurant in this space, so PJs was a welcome change.
Beer selection is good, but they have 86'd a few beers I latched onto with no idea if they'll ever come back on draft.
Love the famous fries with dipping cheese.
Wings are frustrating. Â I want to like them, but the last 6 or so wings in each batch are a real downer. Â I think it's the light breading.
Waitresses have been unwilling to take drummie-only orders.
Kids meals were a bit pricey vs other local fare.
Many TVs and a couple of huge projectors.
New updated outside porch area - have not been there but have seen the ongoing construction.
Will go again, but not first choice.
I have gone to a few happy hours at the PJ's in Blue Bell, so when I saw it was taking over the (huge) space that used to be an (empty) Italian restaurant I know I would be stopping by. Funny how after this place being an empty dining establishment for years, the place was crazy packed. The baked onion soup was pretty good, the Cajun chicken sandwich nicely spiced. My dining companion ordered the ahi tuna steak, and I panicked when the waitress asked "how do you want that done?" but thankfully the dish was perfect (well, except more of the peppery flavor would have been well received). A pretty good beer list, surprisingly, and some fun mixed drinks thrown in the mix makes it a nice place to stop by.
Review Source:Atmosphere is great. Lively, open and tons of huge tvs.
Beer selection is phenomenal.
Food is mediocre. BBQ chicken was exactly what I used to get in high school cafeteria, 'mixed vegetables' were 2/3 onions, desert was Betty Crockers finest. The bar is pretty high considering the outstanding food at other local brew pubs like drafting
room, station taproom, and even mckenzies.
Service was poor. Salad came after the meal, they kept delivering items we didn't order, waitress kept disappearing except to push more beers.
Overall, a great place for happy hour or the first half of a big game . . . Just don't stay for dinner.
Whelihan's is known for their wings and they didn't disappoint. Â We ordered the plate of 10 wings with original hot sauce. Â While not overly hot they did have some heat to them. Â I was able to cool off the heat with one of their large selections of beer - Troegs Mad Elf. Â The only negative thing I can find with PJ's is the size of their bathroom. Â One stall and one urinal?? Â Seriously this place is huge and to only have two sets of bathrooms at each side of the bar with only one stall and one urinal in each is in my opinion poor planning. Â I plan to go back as often as possible to try the other micro-brews.
Review Source:Let me preface this review by saying I've never actually eaten at PJ Whelihan's. I've seen the menu, though, as well as some food selections while I was there. From what I can tell, PJ's menu seems to offer a wide array of traditional bar favorites (burgers, wings, nachos, etc.) in large portions at fairly reasonable prices.
Like I said, I can't fully vouch for the food menu. I can, however, give a thumbs up to both their draft beer selection (20+ taps, lots of micro- and craft brews) and their bartenders, most of whom appear to have been taken directly from the pages of Maxim and planted in the heart of beautiful Downingtown (chuckle).
Basically, here's the deal: if you're in D-town and you're looking for a "happening" bar with good beer on tap and hot bartenders, you could do a lot worse than PJ Whelihan's.
