Amazing night out with friends! If you are celebrating something, this is the place to grab a bunch of your friends/family and go and celebrate! Be sure you have your singing voice ready as the piano players will have you singing in no time! We had front row seats to the show and were able to see ALL the action during the night. I've been here before and sometimes in the back it's a bit hard to see. Our waitress took her time getting our drinks and tending to us, so try and ask for Tyler! He's prompt and ALWAYS ready to see if you want another drink! This is the perfect night out!!!

My friends had to drag me to this place, because I didn't think I'd be into a piano place.  Ok so dudes play the piano.  So what?  But it turned out to be a lot of fun and I'd recommend it as a date / hangout venue if you're looking for an alternative to a bar.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are free admission plus half priced drinks, so the evening was perfectly budget-friendly.  We arrived early (show starts at 8) so we could get a table, having been warned that the place packs out, but it ended up being DEAD for an hour.  The guys were nice enough to field our song requests even when we didn't leave tips, but once more people started showing up, it became a tip-only kind of game.  The pianists (we heard three; they rotated in and out and occasionally played drums) were witty and pretty talented but as the night progressed, there were more and more songs that they said, "We don't know this song so we'll play something similar."  The "something similar" would often be just a different song by the same artist (let's be honest: "Lola" by the Kinks is nothing like "Victoria" by the Kinks.  Poor substitution.) so that was disappointing and kind of a cop-out.

I can't really say if this place gets crazy or not.  The night we went, I left at 10:30 and the place only had 5 or 6 small groups.  My friends had visited on other Wednesday nights and been forced to stand because of the crowds.  It's a large place with ample parking and a fun vibe, so I can see how it would easily become crazy busy, but that's not the experience I had.

Stay away! This place had the rudest service I have ever experienced...from the doormen, to the servers, to the manager who screamed in my face from three inches away. The need a lil lesson in customer service.

The only thing thats good about this place is the free parking. inside was way better the way it was set up for the high hat.  Its overpriced (drinks and $10 cover!), mics are too loud, and there could def be like 10 more tables fit in there at least.  Ive been to some great dueling piano bars, this one is just lacking.   it's nice if they also had a female singer/player and changed it up more often.  if youve seen it once here, youve seen it all.  gets old quick.

Okay so this the name "Dueling Pianos," makes this place seem questionable at first. But you HAVE to go for yourself and see what the Piano Bar has to offer! Wednesday and Thursday nights are free admission and half off drinks. I was there last night and the musicians surely knew how to get the crowd moving. You can dance and sing along as they play their own version of essentially any song someone recommends. If you go on someones birthday, do yourself a favor and send them on stage so that they can get that star birthday experience! Warning!! You should try to come here with an open mind as in this is not always rated G. But you will find yourself laughing and having a good time while enjoying the best drinks! Caution: the lyrics can get quite raunchy, but hey don't we all get a laugh out of it?

I really don't have anything bad to say about this place! I have been here two going on three times in the past two months, i absolutely love this place! The first time i went i had just graduated nursing school and me and my class went and once the pianists knew our occasion they played on it all night long. The musicians are amazing, they are very talented and play any song you ask for wether its oldies, rap, rock, pop or country they know it! They are also great with the audience, constantly engaging everyone to sing along or getting people on stage
The drinks are also fantastic! On wednesdays and thursdays its free admission and half off drinks, yes every drink from buckets of beer to the shots. Their drink menu is hilarious, all drinks and shots have dirty innuendoes which gives me and my friends a chuckle every time. Their drinks are also in normal size glasses so you are getting what you paid for. Its $9 for one of those drinks and on wed and thurs its $4.50!! My personal favorite is the "sexless marriage" its fruity, bubbly and just yummy. My favorite shot of theirs is also the "jolly rancher", it really tastes like a watermelon jolly rancher.
In conclusion i just recommend this place to everyone and trust me you will have an amazing time!

What a great place!! I was at twin rivers playing slots with hubby when my little sis calls and tells me to join her..OMG, I really enjoyed this place..The guys playing the Piano are amazing...it goes from oldies to goodies, past to present and they involve the crowd constantly.. mix of old folks to college crowds...so much fun...If this was closer I would be here all the time..great hang out and go to for a great time...

I am the friend that Robert Morse is referring to In regards to the comment that Robert Morse has made on Donna G.'s review. Firstly, I had called to make a reservation around the first week of April for Saturday May 11 at 8:00 for approximately 20 to celebrate my friends bachelorette party. I had called a few days beforehand to finalize our number in the party, apparently the reservation was taken down incorrectly and our reservation was made for the following weekend. I was told that "you can still come in"...and I replied that there was no other choice because the invitations had already went out with the piano bar as out choice venue for the night. Most of us in the party have been or are currently employed in the food and beverage industry as well as the hospitality industry; more so, some of us have held management positions in those same industries, so we get it, mistakes are occasionally made.
Once we arrived I spoke with a woman there who seemed very flustered, and I had explained the situation at hand (I believe that I had spoken with her on the phone as well), she had explained to me as the others that I had talked to that there were no more reservations available. We were put on a waiting list once we arrived with approximately 7 other parties ahead of us. Around 8:30 there were about 6 tables that were not occupied (their policy as stated on their website: "we are unable to hold reserved tables past 8:15pm, so please be on time or we may give your table to another party"). Donna G. had approached the employee (security? bouncer?) that was standing beside the table to see if we could sit there and she was told that someone had called in a reservation and they were on their way and we couldn't be seated at that table. I approached the host station once again, and I was told that the party that reserved that table were in fact there...which they weren't. About 10 minutes later I approached the host station, extremely frustrated because the tables were still not filled and I was told that the same thing. After I returned to my group, the woman from the host station came over and told us that the party that had reserved the table no longer wants it and that there are 8 chairs and that we could take it. So we did.
Finally, around 8:45 half of our group was able to sit down. Our server came over and we asked him if we could possibly get 4 more chairs, he politely said he would see what he could do. A few moments later the individual that somehow holds a management position approaches us and aggressively asks "what is the problem?", Donna G. began telling him the sequence of events, I introduced myself and told Robert that I was the one who spoke with him on the phone, and he quickly denied it and immediately told me that I was in the wrong, he raise his voice and shouted at us that we should be grateful that we even got a table. The bachelorette then approached the three of us and introduced her self, Robert was quick to tell her that he "didn't care who she was"...the bachelorette decided then and there that we were leaving. She told Robert that we were leaving, all 16 of us and she left her drink at the table, and the rest if the party did the same. The "manager" Robert, seemed to regress in regards to maturity; Robert shouted "YOU WANT TO LEAVE??!, THEN LEAVE!!" and threw his hands up in the air and waved them.
I was utterly disgusted with the way management handled the situation at hand, especially seeing as how the mistake was made on their end. Each of us were charged the $5.00 cover ($5.00 x 16= $80.00), and we all had bar tabs of at least $20.00...($20.00 x 16= $320). We were looking to have a fun night out and were ready to spend money...we were there for no longer than 50 minutes and had already spent approximately $400.
We were never apologized to (except by the young man at the door), never offered a reduced cover, or even a drink for the bachelorette for the inconvenience. It's a real shame that we had such a terrible experience, prior times that I have been here I had a great time. Robert has forever changed my thoughts on this place. I will never step foot in Point St. Dueling Piano Bar again, nor will I ever recommend this place again (I work in the events industry and have often recommended my clients here).
A person that has such lack of people skills and hospitality should not be working in the food and beverage industry...it is part of the hospitality industry! Robert belongs working in a position that doesn't require him to have such a high level of interaction with customers. Perhaps working a fryolator in a fast food restaurant would be a better position for him.
It would be in the best interest of Point Street Dueling Piano Bar to get rid of this incompetent manager, he is a major hindrance on the successful operation of the establishment.

I went there last weekend with a bachelorette Party. The manager that was working had talked to my friend that day and told us our Reservations was all set. Then when we showed up there was no table for us 18 of us. We were told that 10 minutes after your reservation time your table would be given away so we waited to see if we can get a table so many tables open they  still would not give us one . So we waited 1 hour finally got a table 4 seats short of what we needed I had asked if he could get for more then the manager flipped out on me he told me it was not his fault that the reservation screwed up that he was accommodating us the best he could . Making a huge scene in the middle of the bar. We left all 18 of us and refuses to  ever go back there .

Okay, seriously? I love this place and CANNOT GET ENOUGH! I love raunchy, dirty, immature comedy, and i LOVE that this place can totally "go there" but yet still be fun loving and meant well.

Reserve a table, (Or not, Im sure dancing and standing is equally as fun), and eat before you come (or you can order take out! and eat there) The cocktails are well priced, the parking is FREE! in Providence? what? a parking lot?! Hell yes a parking lot.

These guys sing their asses off for hours. I definitely want to come for my birthday, and my bachelorette party, and any other occasion I can think of to get down here.

GO, Drink! Have fun! Sing along! Get on stage! Have a blasty blast! Do it!

Had an awesome time here this past Saturday night with 4 of my friends!

The atmosphere was fun and lively..the set up is great, sort of lounge-like...tons of tables surrounding the stage front and center. They have some of those great wraparound booths that I'd love to score next time. Otherwise there is a lot of standing room. What I really liked about this place is that it really is about the piano players and the show they put on....as opposed to other "piano bars" I've been to where the piano players end up providing the background music for what turns out to be a gross club scene. That being said,  it was refreshing to sit back and relax and watch and listen to some real talent. The performers are great, really funny and feed off the crowd, played a lot of great songs...including some serious throwbacks which were a fun surprise and lots of fun to sing along to.

The place is crazy busy but our waitress was great. So fun at one point all the staff get up on stage and dance along to the Cupid Shuffle....my friends and I are big fans of that song/dance so that was really exciting for us.

They don't serve food, BUT they do allow you to bring-your-own food and/or get food delivered. They even provide takeout menus for you to browse through which was great since we came in from Boston and aren't super familiar with the area.  Maybe I'm just a serious fat kid at heart, but I think this is AWESOME. We brought chips and dip to snack on, and eventually ordered pizza and calzone. Our waitress kept an eye out and brought it over to us. All you have to do is bring your own plates/napkins, etc., but otherwise they'll take care of clean up. I noticed afterward that everyone surrounding us ordered from Fellini's so I'll be sure to try that place out next time. Some people went ALL out and brought legit spreads of food...platters, cupcakes, birthday cakes, etc...some people even had booths decorated with streamers for friend's birthdays. Really fun and really accommodating!

Three of us drank mojitos all night and LOVED them. I should mention that I am not big on mint/mojitos but for whatever reason I really enjoyed them -- light and refreshing. One friend in particular tried almost every cocktail on the menu...she seemed to love the Baby Mama the best.

The bathroom lines got a little long sometimes, but they moved fairly quickly so it was not a big deal.

OH there is a FREE parking lot right next to the place...so convenient! and coat check too :)

Overall we had a blast, lots of laughs and fun sing-a-longs. Even though Providence isn't far, it would be great to see a location open up in Boston -- any chance of that? :)

I really didn't expect to like this place, the concept just didn't appeal to me. Mr. H & I met a group of friends here to celebrate a birthday last month and seriously, I had a freaking blast.

The bartenders and servers were fantastic. They were friendly, fast, and quick to recommend a great drink. I definitely appreciated how much staff they had working, we rarely had to wait for a drink. It's cool that patrons can have pizza delivered, I love that!

The performers were funny and talented, we had a blast singing along. I dropped a $20 in the jar and our birthday girl was promptly called on stage and serenaded with the flithiest song I've ever heard. Maybe a little too filthy, but I digress...

I could do without the cover charge, but the free parking is pretty great. I'll absolutely come back with a group for a birthday, bachelorette bash, or a girls night out.

Not sure where to start really. It's a fun place, it's just very chaotic. I like the free coat check. The menu on the bar is full of the weirdest cocktails I've ever seen. It'd be nice to know the price of a regular captain&coke before I'm handed my small glass full of mostly coke with a splash of rum.

I suggest getting there early and reserving a table if possible. I heard from the friend who booked her birthday that the guy was rude and told her there was a waiting list of over 100 people. Telling her everyone wants a Saturday night reservation. Well, that's a busy night in the bar world buddy. She ended up being able to reserve a table for our 20+ party through a third party website tho.

What makes this place worth it is the show. The musicians are lively and entertaining. You can fill out a slip of paper with a song suggestion and they'll play it (as long as you attach a couple bucks to it.)  They know hundreds of songs and put a spin on each one.

It can get a bit crowded so when you find a good spot try and hold on to it. I saw college aged kids aswell as an older crowd.

Overall, it's a fun night out. Unique in the Providence bar scene for sure.

All I can say is everyone needs to come down here and support these guys! This place was the most fun I've had in Providence- and it is Not like other piano bars. Like other people said- get ready to drink, laugh, and let loose

Atmosphere - 5 stars. Big space inside. Classy tables and booths made for comfort. Lots of space for tons of people. Really nice layout overall.
Service- 5 stars. It was my birthday so I drank quite a bit, and my glass was never empty for more than 2 seconds before I received a complete refill. Our waiter was kind, attentive, and charming. You rock Abel!!
Entertainment - 4.5 stars. Musicians were excellent piano players and sung their hearts out. I really liked how they put their own sound into each song. Nothing was corny or poorly executed. They were both really witty and super interactive with us (our table was the only one there lol!) but it didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable, we felt like we were just hanging out with a couple of buddies who happen to play piano and sing :) Our waiter also played a couple numbers. He was amazing and it made the show more interesting by switching up the musicians.

Bottom line- GO. It's the most affordable live music and comedy there is. You and your friends will not be disappointed!

I don't venture out into Providence as much as I'd like, so when I was invited to a birthday at the Piano Bar with a group of friends, I was happy to try something new.

Upon arriving, we had reservations, but the line was still out the door. Mental note: definitely arrive between 7:15-7:30pm even though the show starts at 8pm. I can imagine this may be difficult on Fridays for those of us who work the typical 9-5.

The $5 cover seemed fair, since technically you could arrive, watch the show, and bring your own food (utensils & all, no food served here) for nothing. The $10 after 9pm cover seems a bit steep, considering there are many bars with no cover and cheaper drinks that offer live entertainment in Providence on the weekends; I guess you're paying for the novelty of a "piano bar" at that point.

I appreciated the free coat check and found the names of the drinks on the menu amusing ("Baby Mama" & "DTF" are two I remember). The drinks on the menus at the bar can get a bit pricey. I recommend ordering a more classic drink if you want to save some cash.

I enjoyed the show but a couple hours of it was more than enough Piano bar for me.  You basically drink, listen to renditions of requested songs while the performers goof on anyone and everyone; all the while requesting more money. There had to be at least 25 different birthdays being celebrated on the Saturday I visited, and the place was packed with people, resulting in LONG waits at the bar.

I'm glad I went and got the "piano bar" experience but it's not the type of place I see myself visiting often.

Went on a sat night.  I've been to a few other dueling bars, and in the case of point st I think I liked the idea of a piano bar more then this actual piano bar.  The layout was bizarre?  There were so many tables crammed in there was literally nowhere to stand, hang out or watch.  There were literally 3 security guards walking around telling people where not to stand.....half the night we spent being told to  move from one place where not to stand to another place not to stand.....point st,  please take note and come up with a better flow! simply pulling a few table as to open up some space might do the trick?   Although I didn't have any of the food, it appeared from all the negative reviews regarding food they are accurate.  Looked pretty rough coming out of the kitchen.  Pizzas appeared to be made on tortilla  Shells bringing new meaning to thin crust.

And what's up with "beer in a bag!". They sell 40oz pabst blue ribbon in a paper bag like a homeless person.  Weird. Seemed like the menu, drink choices, and terrible furniture was geared towards the 21 crowd, yet everyone there was 28-40.  I think point street needs to figure out who they are as who their market is.

I had never been to the high hat (previous bar) but it wouldn't surprise me if they made very few changes and just reopened as point st. Furniture was old And clearly passed down, they had old banquet chairs,  and other old aesthetics.

Warning.  Don't bother going if your easily offended, or with you mom.  Piano players were ruthless, offensive, and vulgar.  I personally didn't mind it, but felt kind of bad for a few of the guest.... There was this birthday party for a 40 year old in what appeared to be a private room near the front.  It was filled with other 40 something's, and prob her parents (60-70ish) she was asked on stage where she was sung a "birthday song" where the players proceeded to sing about some very colorful topics. It was awkward.  It was wierd.  I won't soon return.

Piano bar banter is always crude to some level (which I usually pretty enjoy), but the banter here frequently turned to personal insults directed at the clientelle. When a person ended up stage (usually was their birthday, anniversary, etc.), one of the pianists would usually throw in some snide remark about the person's appearance.

The musicianship was generally pretty good. In addition to the two pianos, they'll occasionally have someone on drums and bass, which I haven't seen at a piano bar before and it was a nice addition. The musicians knew and played all the tunes you'd expect. That said, they complained an awful lot about playing songs they didn't like. I agreed in almost every case (probably more, I really don't like most music at piano bars), but come on - you were just tipped $20 for a song. Just play the stupid song without interjecting your complaints about the song between every verse.

Drink prices were normal. Mixed drinks will run you $10-12 per drink, not sure about beer. I got a glass of nice scotch for $15.

The giant parking lot is awesome.

This place was packed on a Friday evening.  The pianos were entertaining and played everyones favorites.  To that end they carried through with their name of having two pianos duel, not sure which won.

With the number of people they were bringing in the service got to be very dragged down.  Time for some speed training or more likely bring on another person for the weekend.  I was drinking old fashioneds and found the amount of sugar in my drink to be bountiful.  Watch out for overly sweet drinks.

Ok, I'm completely torn on this review. After seeing the response from Ronnie S. to a lot of the reviews on here, I never wanted to go to this place, ever. Unfortunately, my friends really wanted to try it this past weekend so I reluctantly went with them.

We had a GREAT time. I really don't understand why Ronnie didn't just let the positive reviews speak for themselves. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and what some people find fun, others just don't.

My friend and I got there around 10:30, had to pay a 10 dollar cover, that's the only reason I didn't give the place five stars five dollars is reasonable, 10 is pretty ridiculous for Providence. We hit the bar and ordered two glasses of wine. The bartender apologized and said it would be a few minutes for a new bottle. We waited awhile and I would have been annoyed but the bartender was super friendly and told me my next glass was on the house for the wait. Now that's customer service!

One of the security staff helped us find a table towards the back of the room and we had a great time, some friends met us later on in the night and they had a great time too. The place was full of people and everyone was really friendly. The environment is definitely laid back, the music was a little too loud, but you get used to it. Our waitress, I think her name was Stephanie, was AMAZING! She was super attentive, super friendly, and gave us two free shots. Every single staff person we encountered was extremely friendly and attentive.

Thumbs up to the free coat check! That was a pleasant surprise!

The show is silly, and dirty, and they definitely don't take themselves too seriously, so if you head to Point St. you shouldn't either.

Ronnie, stay off of Yelp, leave people alone and just except that not everyone is going to love your place. Just keep doing what you are doing at Point St, there are plenty of people that love it, there is no need to attack people that don't!

I am absolutely in love with this place. It's hands down my favorite place in all of Rhode Island. The staff is insanely friendly, even when it's extremely slammed and you can tell the bartenders are stressed.. they make a point to be extra friendly. The guys who play the pianos are an absolute RIOT. I've been here w/a mix of different age groups... my friends who are in their mid to late 20's, my family members who are in their 30's and i've brought my boyfriends parents who are late 50's and 60's. Everytime we leave here they all rant and rave about how great it was.

The energy in this place is fabulous. It's not teenie boppery at all, and everyone there is just interested in having a good time.

I would highly highly recommend the place.

    WELL well WELL.

Lookie see what we have here friends...

Dearest Ronnie S. of Point Street Dueling Pianos,

Thank you so much for your response to my review. I hope you enjoyed reading  all my reviews. Make sure you hit the 'fan' button on my page so that you can keep abreast of my future reviews as well.

Since you are not only a performer BUT also one of the OWNERS of this establishment I would have not expected anything LESS from you than the response you posted... which I have copied + pasted at the bottom here so that you can't edit it like you have other responses...for ALL to see.

FIRST of all, the night that I was there my group was charged by gender. SO maybe you should better inform your door staff of your policies.

SECOND of all, yes you are SUPER unique + a SOLID option for a night out. If by unique you mean just like every other dueling piano bar I've ever been too + if by SOLID you mean worse. Then yes. yes you are.

THIRD I'm pretty sure you love anyone who pays the bills.

How dare you personally attack people?  Who do you think you are? YOU are not only RUDE + CHILDISH  in your 'show' but clearly you are as a business owner as well. You should be ashamed of the responses you have written to your customers below. You are unbelievably unprofessional + beyond OUT OF LINE. Every review with 2 or less stars seems to have some snarky response from you.  Thanks for thanking your higher ratings though... wait... actually you haven't done that once.

Do you really think your 'one hit wonder' of an establishment is going to last? Especially after talking to people like that? I highly doubt it. We'll be all celebrating at your 'going out of business' party soon enough.

There is a difference between having a CLASSY or TRASHY good time. Thank you for being sorry that I didn't enjoy myself but the truth is I didn't enjoy YOU. Oh + by the way, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter what era we are in... I'd still think your joint was a waste of my time + not worth a penny. Yesterday, today + tomorrow.

Please continue to respond to the people who are just telling the TRUTH.
It is really entertaining + well...
    just proving the TRUTH.

    Love always,
    Jay D.

PS. 1991 called and they want their KEYTAR back bro.

Comment from Ronnie S. of Point Street Dueling Pianos 12/1/2012

We get it, you're SUPER interesting. You love Elephant Room(tea), candy stores, libraries, NAVA(lots of antique & vintage shops), and Yelp's Bollywood Bash. All truly great things. However, from reading your other reviews, the 'everyone else sucks for letting their hair down and simply having fun' bit is exhausting. They make you seem like a disenchanted 'tween taking an "Intro to poetry" class.

Our cover starts at $5 and goes up from there. The lower rate is for people with reservations or who come in by 8-8:30PM (the time we stop taking reservations). It is not based on gender. We play the songs people request. Our parking is free, our show is somewhat rude and childish, and we love the "train-wreck townies" you so openly disparaged in your other reviews.

We're not everyone's idea of a good time, nor do we claim to be the greatest place in RI. But for the many people who like us, we're unique, and a solid option for a night out. We're also sorry you did not enjoy yourself. Perhaps you should have moved to Williamsburg, ten years ago, when pseudo-hipsters were remotely tolerated.

Try to drag the poor souls who are with me every time I'm in Rhode Island.  Seen this concept at other places (see my other reviews, I'm a sucker for this garbage) and these guys do a very good job.

Everything I hate about live music (lame banter, audience participation, group hand clapping) and bars (drunken exhibitionists, low quality drinks and bathrooms, aggressive bachelorettism) rolled into one.  It's like a horrible wedding, complete with obnoxious djs, the cupid shuffle and WASPy people trying to dance seductively on stage.

I may be a purist, but the music was not good.  Too scattered and smarmy.  On two pianos and occasional drums, five guys rotate to play (less than half a verse) of the song of your choice, or rather, the song with the highest tip price.  Don't actually like music?  You can also pay to temporarily post an insult about one of your friends on an erasable board behind the pianos.  The prices go up as the night goes on, quite the money-making pyramid scheme.

There is only one guy with an actual voice, which he wastes on down-tempo adult contemporary or middle-school parodies.  The four other lecherous lumps prey on birthday girls, who willingly perform lude and lascivious acts because a magic wheel told them to.  Some recurring joke from all the other piano bars in the country involves calling women "you b*tch, you slut, you whore" as if it is just a perfectly acceptable crowd chant, like rooting for your favorite sports team.  Oh, piano bar humor.

Free-for-all tables, which means standing all night like vultures awaiting an opening.

Very strange crowd ranging from college freshmen to grey hairs, brought together by their undying love for Def Leppard.  People-watching is really the only good thing to do here because none of the music is danceable.

One time was one time too many.

I went to the Piano Bar a couple of weeks ago with some co-workers and I must say I am dying to return!  The atmosphere was so much fun.  We had a reservation so we got a table quickly.  Our waitress was super friendly and attentive even though the place was packed.  We didn't wait at all between drinks and she bought us over menus and alerted us when our food had arrived.

I will definitely be paying another visit!

If you like to sing along to music, aren't offended if the piano players are a little raunchy, and want a spot that's good for groups -- then this is it.

It is large with lots of tables and 2 bars (if that is your thing too).  The piano players rotate and might even play the drums or guitar too.  The energy is high and LOUD.  Not a place for an intimate night where you want to have lots of conversation.

The off-street parking is a nice touch too -- which you can't always find in the city.
Reservations for a large party on the weekend would be a must.

There's been a cover charge on the Friday/Saturday nights that I have been there.  $5-$10.

I love the concept of a piano bar. I've never been to one before so I cant compare to whatever Howl at the Moon is.. but I love it here!

Its such a fun environment for a first date and the variety of songs they can play is amazing! I cant wait to go back on a busier night so there is more audience participation!

Ps. Drinks are cheap! Great Specials!

Thanks to business owner of Point Street Dueling Pianos, Ronnie S: I have decided to change my review. I never would have considered a 3 star review a bad review, but I suppose he just couldn't resist attacking constructive criticism or even a loyal costumer! Because of this, and because in his comment he actually had the nerve to call me ugly, you get 1 star and no more business from me. I was almost considering going back, maybe with a flask or purse full of beer, but when a couple old friends I haven't seen in a while invited me out (tonight actually) to meet them at Dueling Pianos for a drink--I decided that it is just not worth it--I work too hard to spend my night off at a place that 1) too loud to have a conversation, 2) same show different night, 3) giving business to a guy that called me ugly, 4) rather flush my money down the toilet than give it to them.

If you have never been here, please read the reviews carefully. Jay D.'s review inspired me to edit mine to attack back the owner that attacked the patron--so I would like to thank that Yelper too.

Hey Ronnie--when you become just another passé bar in the city, I'll see you on Bar Rescue--he'll probably recommend a tap system and a new attitude for the owner.

    ---ORIGINAL REVIEW----

I have been coming here since they opened, and the good business has been getting to their heads. I would like to give it more stars, but their heads are big enough.  Here is the most honest review you'll get:

Thank god they don't serve food anymore, when they did it was gross. I like the idea for bring your own--they are really cool about that. Pizza places deliver there regularly to patrons. They also have free parking which is awesome, and extremely rare! I fear that this will be short lived because of popularity, however. The place is beautiful, big, bathrooms nice. Can't complain about the atmosphere whatsoever. The pianists do a great show, they are very talented, hilarious-- tell lots of dirty jokes, and interact well with the crowd, they're a hoot! They've introduced guitars and drums and play a variety of songs with piano now.

Ok here's the reality of why it's not great:

Cover charge. And not just any cover charge but a bell curve of: if-you-come-before-9pm-it's-$5, if-you-come-before-10-it's-$7, between 10-12 it's $10, and then $7 before 1 and $5 before 2am. Don't think this is an exact science either, it all depends on who's at the door. And if you bitch and stamp your feet enough like I have the past few times they let me in anyway. Maybe it's because I'm a chick though that they allowed it. It was worth the risk of being kicked out I thought, but I'm a button pusher. But seriously: YOU'RE A PIANO BAR- what is the cover for? Playing piano is your job here, you didn't hire them as extra for the night!

Tips for the pianists: so after you pay the cover charge, whatever that might have been, you need to cough up cash when you request a song. Ok, I get it- but I'm gonna give you a dollar or two, if I'm shitfaced, maybe more. But when I drop a Washington in your fishbowl, don't give me crap, I just freaking threw a Hamilton down to get in which is supposed to be paying you. This is where I start to really draw the line.

Service/drinks- they always run out the beer I want (Sam Seasonal) or they at least say they do, then someone has a fresh one a few minutes after I ask; I suppose it could've been an honest mistake--every time. No beer on tap ($@&&!?;/*%#{{) Mixed drinks are small- not completely watered down but nothing to write home about. I always found the staff to be friendly and entertaining. Then last night, my friend pointed out a new routine where staff gets up on stage and does a dance for a few songs. Sounds like fun right? Well, this isn't Texas Roadhouse and the place is usually packed on the weekend which means the service suffers to keep up--so now they're doing a dance routine while my empty glass and dry mouth have to watch...seriously?

Crowd: ages definitely vary across the spectrum. The most dominating clientele would appear to be female between 35-55, divorcées. The piano men are all over most of the women, but any girl with half a brain would know better...I hope.

Ok, in conclusion, it's a fun place to go once in a while. Just know how to spend your money. You can't make this a "regular" place, it gets old quickly. If its your birthday or bachelorette, just know that at least 5 other people are there for the same reason so you're not going to be treated like a princess/prince, maybe you'll get a song or roast but don't have a tantrum when they forget you. Despite all the flaws and BS, I wake up with an empty wallet the next morning but I always seem to have a good time, gotta go with a good group, and should probably pre-game it.

If you enjoy live music (and maybe singing along) and can let loose and have a good time while not taking yourself too seriously you should definitely check Point Street Dueling Pianos out.

Requests are made by audience members (with a tip, between $1-3), and the performers take turns singing and playing requests. Sometimes they play them straight, but ridiculousness ensues when you ask two wise-mouth guys to play Britney Spears (for example).  Everyone sings along and some people get up and dance.  If you hate the song being played you can bring up your own request and top the amount paid for the current song, and they will stop and switch to yours.

The space is beautiful and quite large - we had no trouble getting a table at 8:30 on Friday, although it looked like by around 10-11ish it was standing-room only. You can reserve a table in advance.  Mixed drinks seemed a bit weak so I would stick to beer or shots.

The performers were all great, if raunchy - I would check this place out yourself BEFORE going with your boss or parents!  Not for the easily offended.

I'm struggling with some of the lower ratings, because honestly, this place freakin' rocks.

It's a piano bar--they play pop songs, they roast the audience, they crack really awful jokes. It's entertainment. Rough, rowdy, bawdy entertainment, so go in expecting that. It's a fun night for a birthday party or bachelorette party or a "what should we do tonight" party.

There's normally a cover, but you're paying to be entertained, and the whole month of August is free.

No food, and no beers on tap (so sad!) but they've got a long cocktail list and service is fantastic. It was packed when I went, and the waitresses were still uber-attentive. I was actually very surprised by the attentiveness.

You get request sheets at the table, and cash helps your cause. Also, a major plus in Providence: a parking lot!

Went here on a Saturday night with 5 other friends.  The atmosphere was great!  you have slips of paper on your table to request songs.  The chemistry between the 2 piano players are great as well as the chemistry between them and the audience.  things can get a bit raunchy (in a good way!) after a couple of hours.

Wanted a fun time, and it didn't disappoint.  Don't miss this place!  If you call for a reservation, they will promise you a table if you arrive between 7 and 8 pm.  Otherwise, its first come, first sat!

Great time, but don't expect a lot of intimate conversation here--it gets loud!

Don't waste a valuable evening of your life and your hard earned money at this place.

You have to pay a cover for the luxury of being chided by a piano player whose filthy renditions of popular songs is anything but amusing. After a long week of working, who is in the mood to be heckled by someone whose idea of entertainment is an X-rated version of "A Whole New World?" Beware if you don't hang on his every word, tip him grandly or appear to be more interested in talking to your friends than listening to his bathroom humor.

It's sad to see someone with musical talent on stage doing a monkey act as opposed to using his skills in a way that would show an ounce of artistry or humanity.

Alternately, you could arrive already bombed out of your mind, and you may just enjoy yourself.

The Dueling Piano Bar is in Davol Square, in what used to be the High Hat, and a Talbots (lol) before that.

I've been here twice now, and had a good time. It kinda stinks to pay a cover, but the drinks are reasonably priced. The music/ians are alright, even though they didn't know many of the (popular) songs I requested. However, they get an extra star for keeping up the show and the enthusiasm.

Great for large parties and the like.

Don't even bother... Was dragged by a male friend bc the girl he wants to date was going... I should of stuck to my guns... And said  "F off I'm going home.." I will never ever return. I was just out of work and very hungry. I eat normally after work I eat wendys or a poptart, I am not picky one bit.... Then my (female) server noticed my tattoo on my arm the joked that she would love to learn to cook as she took my order. I said you must pick something up from the cooks.. she laughed like I was making a joke and I though maybe I shouldn't order... Then when food came out. Well let put it this way I was sad because it was compleat crap.... And what they sell is pretty easy to teach a monkey to do.. I have taught my dishwasher at work to make better food then that....
    End story.. don't bother...

Came for a girls night out with a discount voucher and had no idea what to expect...well we had a great time!

Don't bother with the food, we ordered pizza as it was included in the deal but it was just "ok". drinks were great though!

Our server was almost as fun as the show, he was flirty and knew exactly how to get a good tip out of a group of late 20/early 30s ladies! He joked with us, brought our drinks relatively quickly, and laughed as we sang along despite him standing at our table trying to get drink orders. Oh, and it's LOUD so be ready to shout if you plan on talking to your friends much.

I'd go back for a birthday for sure, they bring all the birthday folks on stage and make them sing and dance. My favorite was the "adult" version of head, shoulders knees and toes. I just hope they do have a few different routines so it doesn't get too old too quick.

The crowd definitely can determine the type of experience you have here though. We left around 11 as an obnoxious group of bachelorette party gals started requesting lame slower songs, forcing their way on stage, and dancing up at the front like drunk sorostitues. Up 'till then, it was a random mix ranging from Elton John to Lady Gaga, AC/DC, cheesy Disney songs and Bon Jovi. You could tell it was annoying the performers but the girls kept tossing $20s in the bowl so the guys sort of had to go along with it.

I really hope this place survives, it's a great concept and I'm excited to finally have something like this in Providence. I'm almost afraid to go again too soon just to ensure some fresh material.

    Meh.

I get it...  dueling piano bar, fun times. Maybe it's just not for me.
The guys on the pianos were rude when I only gave them a $1 to play a song. I'm sorry, but I'm not giving you more to play dumb, mediocre songs that I dont REALLY care to hear. On the other hand, the waitress was quick and nice. The drink was alright.. they serve a lot of sugary martinis.
    Probably wont come back.

This place ended up being fun, but I think you really need a couple of drinks and a crowd to make the night.

The interior is unremarkable (the former High Hat in Davol Square); there are tables, a nice bar and plenty of room for standing crowds / dancing. The food is fried, pre-prepared fare typical of bars. The drinks were tasty, good size and decent price.

Here's the thing: for a piano bar, the pianists were not good players or singers. They were funny, though, and they started sounding better with more drinks. I think this is the key to their success.

Pretty much everyone is drinking, shouting, laughing, singing along, no one really wanted to do more than recognize their request and sing along. You don't really need a pianist who can do more than bang chords at a frantic pace for an interactive show that is not a true performance. I went with a musician, who found it painful at times, so maybe others wouldn't mind this so much.

All in all, we had a ton of laughs and were singing along with the rest of the crew before too long. It would be a fun place for a party or group event. I'd go again some time.

This is a dueling piano bar. If you have been to a "Howl at the Moon," you get it. You make requests of the performers, they play your songs, you sing along.  It gets loud and fun and a little raunchy on a good night.

The place is kind of hard to find. Whatever. The bar itself is nice. Pretty classy looking. And it's huge. That's good if it gets popular.

The downside of the space being huge? When we got there, there were fewer than 30 people there and it seemed really empty and it seemed too loud because it was so empty.  We were determined to help this place succeed so we jumped right in. We ordered a bunch of snacks and a round of drinks, started making song requests with $ attached, and sang along loudly to every song. If this place is loud and raucous, it works. If it's not...lame.

We did not have a good experience...it was awkward and overall not very fun. I love the dueling piano concept, but this place just doesn't get it right.

The place can and hopefully will be good. We had a very sad, crappy experience tonight. The musicians were pretty good. Hopefully they eventually replace the guy we had an issue with.

The drinks were good and cheap, same goes for the food. Like I said, the atmosphere was great and classy. There's free parking, which is a huge bonus and it's near a lot of other great bars in the area, so it makes a good start or end to a fun night.

I still hope it is successful, but walked out with a sour taste in my mouth.

If you're itching for a piano bar and don't want to go to Howl in Boston, give the place a try I guess. Or just go sing some karaoke or something. Or maybe piano bars are better left vacations/resorts/cruise ships?

Exactly what Providence needed - an interactive, request only, rock-and-roll, sing-along piano performance venue.  With a healthy dose of adult humor, stand-up comedy, and lively  atmosphere.

The food ain't worth writing home about (typical mix of quesadillas, bruschetta, calamari, pizza, caesar salad). The drinks are average.  The the dueling, interactive piano performances are fun and offer lots of opportunity to meet and greet with your neighbors.  Great venue and vibe for a large group.  Plentiful parking.

Debuting December 30 and 31st 2011, this space, formerly occupied by The Hi-Hat Club definitely adds something unique the the city. Reminds me of the fun times I used to have at Jake Ivories in Boston before it closed down a few years ago.

Come for the energy, the humor, the audience participation. AND SING! Not your average bar! Can't beat the atmosphere for groups.  Still a few tweaks to be made as a brand new business, but off to a strong start.  Had a blast.
