I had gotten appetizers at another restaurant earlier in the evening, and I decided to wrap up the evening's dining at Pre with two friends. I was there on a Thursday night. Â The interior was cute, but it was completely empty except for one other table the whole time we were there. Â
We headed upstairs to pick our table and ordered drinks. Â They had a pretty extensive drinks menu I was very pleased with. Â We realized that the table was a little low for comfortable dining, so we decided to grab our drinks and move downstairs. I had a Tofu Sandwich, which was a bit bland. We each had another drink, and our server informed us that once we finished those, he would bring the remaining mixed drinks to top us off since there was some leftover. Â
They had a yummy sounding dessert, Crispy Fried Banana served with vanilla ice cream sprinkled with peanuts and cinnamon sugar, so I ordered this, but I was informed that they were out of bananas and ice cream. I was also informed that apparently I was the first person to ever attempt to order dessert. Â
Good drinks menu, but the food seemed a bit lacking.
Good Vietnamese and other food, nice drinks, sparse decor. Â Noodles with fried tofu was excellent, crispy Vietnamese crepe also fabulous. We had sake to drink, I plain and he pear-flavored which was also surprisingly good. Waitstaff a bit odd but delightful and competent; owner's mom was the cook and WOw was it good. Â Atmosphere a little sparse, comfy enough but very empty for a Friday (with Purdue not in session, not such a surprise), I was afraid it might not be OK, was pleasantly surprised. Â Will definitely be going back. Would give 4 1/2 stars if I knew how.
Review Source:This is the best club in Lafayette! I love the upstairs seating area where you can overlook the main floor; it reminds me of being at a club in a big city. The inside is new, clean, and has beautiful decor and furniture. They have really nice televisions to watch while you sit at the bar. The bartenders here are great and have excellent suggestions for drinks. They have unique specialty mixed drinks which taste amazing!! I highly suggest giving them a taste. This is definitely the BEST place to go in downtown Lafayette.
Review Source:Short one this time.
My wife and I had seen that Pre was tapping Sun King's Cream Dream IV, so we had to head in and try it.
The beer was good, and while there we also tried their spring rolls. Â Their food has a Vietnamese flair, and these rolls were DAMN good.
We'll likely be back. Â It's a shame they've only got 4 taps and only one of them serves craft beer, but oh well. Â Still a very nice place.
I heard about this place by chance because they were serving Sun King on tap. Â Really happy I decided to try it out. Â Nice place, really clean and relaxing, I do believe it's a restaurant during the day/evening and a club late on some nights. Â They have a good selection of craft beers now, as well as mixed drinks and wine. Â The food was outstanding, most of us had banh mi sandwiches and really enjoyed them. Â I had the marinated pork banh mi and it was delicious, especially the bread. Â My wife had the Vietnamese stew and she said it was great. Â Service was extremely friendly, I will certainly be returning.
Review Source:Heard about this restaurant through the grapevine and decided to try it out. Â First time I went, the food was a bit slow to come out, but delicious. Â That was understandable for a new business, so I decided to give it another try. The second time I came back, it was fast and the bartender was great. Â I had the spring rolls and the shaking beef dish. Â It had really good flavor. Â Had a bite of my friends crepe dish that was super crispy and delish! The martinis were made just right. Â The drinks specials are great. Â $5.00 martini Wednesday. Love this place. Â I will be back soon.
Review Source:We went here for dinner on a Friday night and were the only ones in the restaurant. I hope that they have more business during their late-night hours.
The food was good (spring rolls, banh mi, and rice noodles), the decor is very nice, and the drink/beer selection is large. The prices are also very good. The kitchen is connected with Green Leaf Vietnamese restaurant in West Lafayette with some overlap in the menu.
Pre has a great atmosphere and reminds me of a dance club that one would find in a larger city. However, I was there on 2/17 for their "Born This Way" night, and the service wasn't very good. The male bartender was rude and ignored some of the clientele in favor of serving his friends first, no matter how long you'd been waiting for a drink. Also, a friend of mine was told by the female bartender that there was a $10 minimum on credit cards; when the male bartender heard her say this, she responded with a "shh" and dismissive hand motion. Others were told of this minimum as the night went on, but it was a bit fishy.
They did have some good drink specials, but by 1:00 AM had run out of their Bud Light draft (one of only two draft beers offered) and Bud Light bottles.
All in all, Pre isn't a bad place, and it could have just been an off night for them. I will go back another time, but if I experience anything negative again, I'll more than likely not return.
