We stopped on the way back to Sacramento for a late lunch. Most of the restaurants in downtown Danville were either closed or waiting to reopen for the dinner crowd. Fortunately Primo's was still open. We had wonderful service, the pizza was delicious and there were 2 particularly helpful people there: Brian and Jay...not sure that is their names....would recommend Primo's to anyone.
Review Source:I was interested in visiting Primos again after the mediocre reviews since my last visit.
I started off by calling ahead to see how busy they were.
A young kid answered the phone and when I asked how long the wait was he promptly said "HOLD". Â I sat there and then he then said hello. I asked again how long the wait was and he said he had to check. I then simply asked if the place was full and he then became agitated and kurt (never got an answer to my question).
Well, we went down anyway and we were seated in 10 minutes.
The place has been remodeled and is more modern (but funky for a pizza place and reminds me of a model home).
We ordered a family Caesar salad. It was the size of a large soup bowl and enough for four small plates. I can buy a six pack of romain lettuce at Safeway for $3.50 so they should provide larger portions....sad.
Then we ordered thin crust pepperoni pizza.... it came back thick like pizza you get at the county fair. And when I inquired about the small salad the waitress turned sour.
I think with a name like Primos, and a previous following of locals dining here people expect more.
This will be my last visit unfortunately :(
I have been going to Primo's for over 15 years and love it. Last night I went and had to ask if they were under new ownership because things were sooooo bad. Â To start they only had three highchairs and we have twins and two of the three high chairs were broken with no safety straps. Then my dad tried order a Heifinwisen (spelling?) which they were out of on tap so he tried to order red hook which they were out of too. Then my little sister ordered Top Shock, they were out and when she asked for a blue moon they said it wasn't cold. Consider this is a pizza and beer place how are they out of ever popular beer? Â The person in charge of ordering definitely needs more training. I had to ask if we could place our order and to remind them to bring me the side I ordered once got all the food. I then tried to order something on the menu and was told they don't carry that anymore (remove it from the menu!). Not once after all the "I'm sorry we don't have that" did they have manager come over. Â I still love his place and our waitress was nice, but geez what a bad dinning experience.
Review Source:Terrible Terrible Terrible. I would address our server by name in this review but to be honest, I have no idea what her name was because not once did she say her name. Upon being seated, our server did not say "Hi - I'm so-and-so, Welcome to Primos". I guess I could have looked at her name on our bill, but I just wanted to get out of there after we were done with our meal.
We came for dinner and it was not even busy yet it took forever to get our drinks after the drink order was placed... eventually the host guy brought it over because our waitress was chatting it up with whomever at the bar. Yes, lady we can see you! We finally got our very bland salads (house-made balsamic had zero flavor, just tasted like olive oil) and the pizzas.
We had ordered an appetizer but it never came. When the server came by to attend to another table, I had to tell her that since we never received it, we don't want it anymore, because I did not think she put the order it. "Oh, it just got brought up to the window, I'll bring it right up." Really?? I call BS on this one. She brought it over and it was stone cold and soggy, completely inedible. If it was just brought up to the window, it would have been hot!! She offered to give it to use for free and then she just got very unfriendly. Not once did she check up on us or refill our drinks. Interesting enough, she was all about giving us our bill at the end of the meal. However, when I asked for a box for the pizza only, she seemed very annoyed that I didn't want to take the gross appetizer home. I don't care that it was free; it was disgusting!
If I could give no stars I would. The one star is far too generous. Definitely felt very unwelcome at Primo's. I will never go back there again.
I was visiting the Bay Area for my niece's birthday party, but by a happy accident it was also the weekend that the top West Coast Swing champions in the country were teaching workshops at Two Left Feet Dance Center in Danville. Â I called my local dance buddies who told me to meet them first for pizza and drinks at Primo's Pizza and Pasta, which is just down the block on the corner of Diablo Road and Hartz Ave. Â Apparently they eat (and drink) here almost every Friday night before dancing. Â
When I arrived, there were only 6 other dancers there and we were seated together at a long table that seated 14-16 and were told the table next to that was ours, too. Â The waiter left us with 14 menus, and by the time he came back with our drink orders, the group had grown to 10. Â Four of us gals got together to order a vegetarian pizza, two dancers ordered a large barbecue chicken pizza and garlic bread, and two others ordered a Mediterranean pizza. Â People continued to trickle in over the next hour and a half and our waiter dealt with all of us coming and going and grouping up to form separate checks with a calm smile and a ready to please attitude. Â It would have driven ME crazy trying to keep track of who had and hadn't ordered, who was on whose check, and who needed refills, but he dealt with it well. Â By the time my pizza arrived, we were up to 18 people and by the time the second wave of food arrived we were over 25. Â The waiter knew a lot of people in the group and what their usual drink orders were. Â At least four of the people in our party knew the bartenders by name. Â Several of the late arrivals ordered salad and one ordered what looked liked a side order of meatballs. Meanwhile drinks were ordered and delivered in a timely fashion amidst all the chaos. Â AND at the end the waiter delivered every bill to the correct group and all of the totals were correct. Â
service: 5 stars
Our vegetarian pizza was good, and they delivered a small bowl of extra sauce as one of the girls requested. Â I'm not going to say it was the best pizza ever, but it was nice and hot, the crust was crispy, the toppings were plentiful, and the sauce was... well... saucy. I tried a bite of the chicken pizza and it was good, also.
pizza: 3 1/2 stars
The decor wasn't particularly fancy, but there were flat screens on the wall and from where I was seated I was able to follow the Athletics vs. Cardinals game and a Giants game while chatting and catching up with my friends.  They manage to straddle the line between family pizza joint (one of the dancers and her husband brought their two kids under the age of two) and sports bar (other dancers at the same table were doing shots) admirably.  It's a casual place, something a little different than  you'd expect to find in old town Danville, a little less highbrow, but not quite blue collar either.
atmosphere: 4 stars
One of my friends ordered a mai tai and it was pretty strong. Â They aren't watering down their drinks, at least not at our table.
My friends are totally gaga over this place, and I can see why they like it. Â The food is good, the atmosphere relaxed and casual, and the service staff is on their game. Â I think that deserves a solid four star rating. Â It is convenient to the dance studio, but there are certainly other places they could go if any of them felt the food or service was lacking. Â The neighboring dance studio is world class so I'm sure I'll be road tripping up here more and now that I know this is THE Friday night hangout for dancers.
Well it was 27 years ago when I first tried Primos. Great service great owners great food. Fast forward 27 years poor service, food all different and not really that good anymore and prices for Pasta and pizza through the roof and oh yes new owners. I come from a very large Restaraunt family so I know the ins and outs and probably why I am not surprised  When we moved recently to Alamo I though great because Primos will replace A few of our old reliables from the old neighborhood. My daughter and I ordered a Rigatoni and two meatballs $16.25 plus a split charge.  Ok not bad. I then ordered a small pasta to take home to my wife. The portion I received filled a very small take out container about 3/4 of an inch.  I called the Restaraunt and three times I was either put on hold or hung up on.  I finally talked to a manager and he was trying to explain I got a child's portion regardless of the portion at $7.50 for less than 3 tablespoons of sauce and maybe .50 worth of pasta.  The new owners have committed the mortal sin of buying a thriving solid Restaraunt they change it because they obviously were much smarter than the guy who built it. Good luck we eat out quite a bit but no more Primos.
Review Source:I've only been here once but it was just about as good as it gets! The pizza was wonderful and the people here were very friendly and accommodating; they helped me set up a table for a small birthday dinner. There were multiple TVs playing Bay Area sports (go Sharks!). If i am ever back in the Danville area and want a slice i know where to go! The only con was the limited parking available.
Review Source:Just returned home from just about the worst dinner experience ever. The owners of Primo in Danville should really think twice about their management especially on a Sunday night when families are trying to enjoy a meal out before the start of a new week. We arrived at 6:30 and ordered our meal at around 6:50 which was okay, they were not busy at all maybe 30 % capacity. We didn't receive our meal, actually only part of it until 7:45. I asked the cash register what was taking so long, they didn't appear to be busy at all and was told the pizza was backed up, we didn't even order pizza! Part of our meal came and was definitely cold, I had to get up again and ask for my kids meal which was over an hour now since we ordered...this was getting out of hand. The waiter apologized and said he would comp us for our meal and we finally received our order which was incorrect at this point we just wanted to pay our bill and leave. We were promised a reduction on the bill and charged double on a couple things that were supposed to be kids orders. It's too bad this family place has gone so far down hill so rapidly. The building is falling apart on the outside and should be repaired. A Chili's or the owners of On the Border should take over this terribly managed establishment!!!
Review Source:Wow. I've never in my life been treated so poorly by a restaurant manager. Â I will never ever ever go hear again, and I will encourage everyone I know not to patronize this business. Timeline:
6:55- seated outside.
7:10- hostess takes our drink order. Can't take food order and tries to find server.
7:15- server finally arrives and takes order.
7:45- husbands pasta comes out. Where's my pizza? Out right always says the server.
7:55- I go inside to ask what my order is. Severs says kitchen is backed up and will be out momentarily.
8:05- no pizza and I ask to speak to a manager. The manager was a 20 year old kid. I explained hat happened, and he threw is arms in the air and said "what am I supposed to do?? The kitchen is really backed up!" I told him I didn't appreciate being talked to liked that, and he basically started getting defensive. This guys couldn't care less about the customers. I pray this place goes out of business and the manager is homeless. If I saw that guy in a dark alley, and smack the crap out of him. :-)
I walked out and went to Jules Thin Crust.
We had the Irish dew. The dew and brew. The garlic cheese sticks. Meat ravioli with bolognese sauce, Cheese ravioli with meat sauce, and the western burger. The waitstaff is really nice and accommodating. The food is okay. We enjoyed our pasta dishes. We would just prefer to not order the garlic cheese sticks again.
Review Source:We were here earlier tonight, for a birthday dinner.  We ordered the XL Godfather pizza with a thick crust.  The place was not busy, and we were happy to receive our pizza quickly.  It was a very good pizza.  Our waitress however, left something to be desired and practically ruined our meal.  Her name was Susan.  Not 5 minutes after receiving our pizza, she rudely interrupted our conversation/dinner  to slap us with our bill.  It made us feel extremely unwelcome and unwanted.  What she should have done was refill our drinks, which were empty.  Instead, she felt it was more important  to shove our bill on the table when we were not even through with our first slices of pizza.  I can understand the urge to turn tables over on a busy night, but they were not even at half occupancy.  The pizza was good, but the service was horrible.  Because of this, I don't think we will be back.  There are many other pizza joints that serve up good food but know how to treat their customers well.  Susan if you read this (Blond, mid 40s) focus on giving good service because tips always reflect service rendered. Â
PS: Â I won't even go into the sub par decor and appearance of the interior.....
I tried to speak to the owner about these changes. Â He proceeded to argue with me. Â Argue with me who was a customer for twenty years. Now I hear all the charm has been sucked out of the place. Â The pictures gone, the food even less cooked then before. Â When I tried to give them a chance with the new owners, I had to deal with 4 wrong orders before they delivered correct ones. Â The different buns since I was told the Kaiser buns were no longer available. Â It seems to have gone from bad to worse. Â If you want nostalgia, go to The Crown, Valley Medlyns, Uptown Cafe. Â Do not go here. Â If you do and don't like it. Â Don't bother to voice your opinion. Â The owner believes his opinion is the only one that matters. Â I wonder if he's continue to feel the same while he loses his customer base.
Review Source:Great place for pizza in Danville. We like to grab a few beers at the bar while wait for our pizza to take home. The staff is always friendly and pay close attention to when your running low on suds. Like most pizza joints, lots of out of control kids running throughout the place so watch out. We always seem to miss it but, looks like they have good happy hour deals.
Review Source:Our kids grew up going to Primos on Friday nights...we all loved the charm and funky ambiance; the great pizza and friendly . Â Yesterday, we thought it would be fun to take our son back to Primos & show his young family this neat place. Â Wow...what a mistake! Â As we walked in the building, I was shocked...gone is the wood paneling along with all the historic photos; gone is any charm. Â All replaced with boring, sterile beige walls! Â Really....BEIGE?? Â I told the manager ((maybe owner) not to fix what isn't broken . Â He said things were broken...sigh. Â
We ordered our lunch and all had burgers and a child's Mac n cheese. Â Frat off, the pasta wasn't cooked nearly enough and looked like Cheese whiz had drowned it. Â The hamburgers were thin and marginally eatable. Â Why she asked how we'd like it cooked, I don't know...they were all well done...too thin to do anything else. Â So disappointing and such a letdown.
Even the kids video room was annoying...only 3 video games. Â All the other machines were just put money in, get piece of junk. Â I'm amazed parents put up with it.
So, new owners, restore Primos...it's been a Danville institution for many years. Â Such a great place for families and teens. Â Please don't destroy the funky flavor...beige is NOT charming & has no redeemable value at Primos. Â Keep Primos the unique place it's always been!
Back in my day, say 20 years ago, pizza places were a bit less common and there were a lot fewer styles. Â Back then, Promos had one of, if not the best, pizzas in the area. Â This was a nice, unpretentious family-style pizza place with a section dedicated as a bar. Â I also remember their tortellini with pesto being very rich and exceptional.
I found myself the outlay with a sudden, inexplicable craving for a good, old-fashioned pizza. Â So, Promo's it would be since it was close.
When I walked up, there were a bunch of crates strewn right in the walkway, like they just had a delivery. Â In reality, there was no indication that there was indeed a recent or ongoing delivery, note an indication that anyone was gonna clean them up soon, so I suspect they just didn't care, which is a warning sign.
Once I went in, there was a pretty overwhelming smell of cleaning material, like in bathroom cleaner. Â I like clean, but when the smell of clean takes over a place, there's a red flag. Â This place should smell like tomatoes and bread and garlic.
The maintenance and decor of this place has either really gone downhill, or maybe my standards have changed a bit, or my memory is just bad. Â But they sorely need a makeover, if only minor. Â It felt interrupt and dirty, or possibly just like the owners don't give a darn, once again a bad sign. Â A place without passion usually doesn't make great food. Â And the walls are painted white, which shows a total lack of design sense in a restaurant of this type. Â You need some color for warmth. Especially with dark furniture.
They had pizza by the slice, so that made sense. Â I was also craving good fried zucchini a couple days before, and Primo's has that, and I suspected much better than the chain restaurants have.
The pizza was very good, especially for a slice only. Â A lot of these places let it sit too long, or don't put as much love into them as if you order a whole pizza. Â I'd give it about a 7.5.
The zucchini looked good, though for the price I expected a few more. Â Now, it may just be that my senses are off, but at first bite, it tasted slightly fishy, like it was fried in the same oil as shrimp or other seafood, which is a huge pet peeve. Â However, after a couple of bites, that flavor seemed to disappear, and I rather enjoyed them. Â I'd give them about a 7. Â But if you're listening, Primo, please avoid using the same oil for seafood as you do for veggies, if in fact that's what's going on. Â A lot of places do this, and I usually ask.
I'll say the server was good, friendly, attentive, etc., but then it want very crowded, so service might suffer at busy times.
I think with all the other places around, Primo's has to step it up a bit to survive.
So, that's my take.
Primo's is very much unlike a pizza joint that you'd expect in Danville. Â The town has evolved into a hoity-toity sorta place, with a few exceptions thrown in. Â Primo's is one of the exceptions; Â it's NOT hoity-toity. Â I don't know if you'd classify it as old Danville, but it has a feel that's not Burlingame East.
What is it, then? Â A place to hang out in your jeans & t-shirt with your buds while scarfing a meaty pizza. Â Wood paneling. Â TV in the bar area. Â Classic pictures from before 1970 (Beatles, Rat Pack, Cassius Clay, construction workers having lunch while sitting on a steel beam 60 stories above midtown Manhattan). Â Very small parking lot.
The pizza itself is a step above Round Table, and priced normal for that kind of pizza. Â Thick and tasty. Â It doesn't really stand out, but it's good.
I see Primo's drawing a different clientele from those snoots who would stroll Hartz Avenue shopping in the upscale stores; Â they'd likely have lunch in one of the many bistros. Â In contrast, Primo's is for us normal people who just want good food in a casual setting. Â And good luck parking the car.
I used to work at Primos back in the late 80's doing everything from pizza maker to delivery driver. Primos is a Danville institution and I think the new owner needs to realize that, and not try and make it something it isn't. Just leave well enough alone, and keep doing right what got this place to where it was in the first place. Their pizzas have been my favorite for as long as I can remember. Yes, some people complain they are too greasy. To me that's part of the appeal, along with their overloading of toppings and the great crust. The crust is what has me really disappointed lately. It was always hand tossed, and nice and thick. The last two times I've been (and only times since the new ownership) the crust has been off. I don't know if they changed it or what but its not thick any more. Not quite New York style thin, but definitely different than it has been for years.
New owner, please don't try and make Primos into what you think it should be. Keep the nostalgia going for what is truly a great Danville tradition, with great food and you will be more than successful, just as it has been for years.
Came here on a Saturday night with my family, 5 of us total. It was super busy and the staff looked stressed so I knew that we were might have to wait a bit to get a table, but whatever, I get it. Â I think the hostess was new since she had no idea what she was doing. Â Another family of the same size got there right after us and was waiting behind us. Â Both of our tables became ready at the same time and she told us, "you can just sit there" then took the other family to their tables. Â Super awkward and a little rude, my mom had to get us all menus since we figured she wasn't gonna grab them for us.
We get seated by the kitchen and I had to ask my family to help me move the table back since waiters kept running into my chair.
The biggest problem we had was that our waiter was so busy, it took him about 15-20 mins to get our order. It seemed like he was avoiding us since he would talk to all the tables around us and then just walk by ours. This was a consistent theme throughout the night and he never checked on us after we got our food. Â I noticed some other tables had trouble getting his attention too.
The Food: Meh. Â We all split the Cesar, bruchetta and the godfather pizza. Â The Cesar was good. The bruchetta was not so good, there was something off about the flavor, it might have been the tomatoes since the pizza was the same. The pizza was soggy and super greasy.
I probably wont come back mostly because of the service. I totally understand being busy and understaffed but at least stop by and say "Be with you in a minute" or "sorry for the wait"
I've been living in danville my whole life besides when I was away for school and I hadnt been to Primos in probably ten years. My experience reminded me why. I called to order a medium pizza with pep, black olives, mush, and onion... with some mozz sticks. They gave me a quote of 20 minutes. I arrive there in about 15-20 minutes thinking i'd be early but it was ready.
The pizza and ESPEcially the mozz sticks were already cold even though I had made it there before the 20 minute quote they gave me. They put red onions on my pizza instead of white onions, maybe they dont have white onions (which would be stupid) but the girl on the phone should tell me that when i say I want onions on my pizza. The service was terrible, a bunch of highschool students who didnt have customer skills/know what they were doing eve though it wasnt busy. Â Next time, I'm jus going to get blackhawk pizza like I did tonight.
WHY IS IT THAT PRIMO'S PIZZA'S ARE NOT CONSISTENT?? The last 5 pizza's I have ordered from Primo's only 2 have been VERY GOOD but 2 were barely OK but the last one was POOR. I have been going to Primo's since I was 13 years old, first time was at their San Ramon location (which since closed down over 20 years ago) and feel in love with them. About 8 years ago I moved away from the Danville area, just arrived back in the area about 3 years ago. Within my first 2 weeks arriving to Danville I went to Primo's and it brought back some good memories but the last 2 years I has been rocky getting those memories again. The last one I purchased (9/29/2012) was the worst pizza I have got at Primo's, definitely did not feel those memories with my last pizza. I am afraid to give them another chance...
Review Source:Nice location
The server was really really good.
The wings here were quite good. Just the right heat and cooked just right, not greasy. The pizza was prepared well. It was not exactly my favorite kind of pizza but it was done well none the less. The pepperoni was good and the sausage had a spice that did not work for me. The others lived it.
Update 6/10/13:
Things certainly have changed. In the months following my first review both the food and service have nose-dived. Some of their best staff is gone, as is some of their best food. What's left is a hollow shell of its former glory.
During a few of our last visits we noticed an occasionally loud brute drinking behind the bar. When he wasn't barking at staff, he was strutting his stuff with like minded (in other words, obnoxious) patrons. When I inquired as to his identity, I was told he was the new owner.
Bossman should add Branta to the menu. If he's going to kill the goose that lays golden eggs, he may as well serve it for dinner.
--------------------------------------------------Â--------------------------------------------------Â----------
The floors are filthy. The price is a tad bit high. The place is way too noisy some nights. And they STILL haven't fixed the wobbly table that happens to be located at our favorite spot. I've lost precious liquid intoxicants to that wobble! Â :(
Having said all that, I LOVE PRIMO'S!
Steve the barkeep and company are good folk. They're affable and do their best to be attentive, which is hard to do on a busy Friday night. Plus Steve has a generous pour. Since I'm neither female nor cute, I must assume he's generous that way to all.
And the pizza... LOVE the pizza. The crust rocks. It's got the perfect balance of chewy, crispy, greasy, whatever. You could say that it as a certain je ne sais quoi. Well... YOU could say that but I won't because that would be pretentious. ;) Anywho, the toppings are yummy and they put just the right amount of cheese.
This is not fine dining. This is great food, great drinks and a fun atmosphere. Our little group always has a good time, even when we have to raise our voices a little to be heard.
So sorry to no longer work near here. Once a week, I would order the pizza pocket. It is reasonably prices and super tasty. Not to mention big enough for 2 people, but it is only a lunch item. Most of the staff are friendly and I got the rest of my office to eat here. Do not shoot me, but I think it is better than Amici's.
I have tried the burger and it was okay, but it is not as awesome as Pete's. If you are going to pizza joint, order pizza!
Came here with some co-workers who live in the area, they seem to like this place, so I came in expecting some good food. Â Turned out decent. Â I wasn't too impressed with their appetizers. Â The wings were so hot and spicy, I could barely eat them. Â Maybe some people like it that way, but I don't (and neither did another co-worker). Â We ended up leaving a few wings behind... Â the fried veggies were okay, and the potato skins were pretty bland. Â Meh.
The pizza was pretty good though, we had a veggie, a combo, and a pepperoni. Â Overflowing with toppings and a nice, thick, chewy, bready crust. Â Just the way I like it. Â Some crusts are really dry, but this one isn't. Â Loved the pizza.
Service was so-so, it was hard to flag someone down at times, surprising for a Wednesday night. Â And the plates he gave us for pizza were TINY, pizza was totally hanging off the edge and I was constantly worried that it would be dragging on the table and such.
Pretty good pizza, you can skip the appetizers though.
Standard pizza...good crust though. Â Had to ask the waiter 3 times for ranch dressing, thus 3 stars. Â looking forward to trying other pizzas there!
i can see why this place is so popular for families, it's designed to entertain children! Â so if you have a big group of kids, this place wins.
Man, this place. My sister married into a family with roots in Danville, and I guess people in Danville love this place and consider it the Best Pizza or, at least, Very Good Pizza. It is now obvious to me that those who live in Danville rarely leave Danville.
Assume there are three main types of pizza outside of the main USA pizza hubs: Terrible (Big Chain Pizza), Pretty Decent If You Set Your Expectations Properly (Sit down and order a pizza. Usually a salad bar), and Good Pizza (restaurants started by refugees from New York or Chicago who are trying their darndest). Primo's falls in-between Terrible and Decent. The pizza is terrible, the restaurant is decent. You go in, there's a bar, some tables, maybe a salad bar. I don't remember. That's all okay. The service was nice, but we were there on a weekday and it didn't seem too busy. Based on this I was expecting mid-grade sit-down pizza like Pasquale's or Pizzeria Classico or something. It was not like that.
First of all, the pizzas look like Digiorno's. Check out the pictures on here. Riiiiight? Yeah, what a pizza! Also, you know how some people use a napkin to soak up some of the grease on their pizza before eating it? Imagine if somebody did that but instead of using a napkin they used another pizza and then instead of throwing this pizza away they started a restaurant and gave it to you so you could eat it. The underside of the pizza was so slick it felt slimy. I picked up a piece to take a bite and instantly regretted it. If you can ignore the grease pooled in the pepperoni and the moist underside, the taste is about on par with Digiorno's. Maybe slightly better since I assume they actually make the pizza using ingredients. The sausage wasn't bad and its round shape didn't allow for grease to collect as readily as other toppings.
The price is also slightly higher than most places, but I guess that is part of the Danville experience.
Also, they have some kind of pregnancy pizza that is supposed to help induce labor. That's hilarious because it is so stupid! All the stars for this pizza! (Not really.)
Primo's is a comfortable and casual Pasta and Pizza place, bordering on sports bar, in the heart of the upscale suburban confines that is Danville's little shopping strip.
It features Pizza's, with formidable nearby competition from places like Zachary's, and a large selection of pasta favorites, that you usually find in a casual, red-checkered table cloth type of place.
Portions are good sized and fill you up, and the service is friendly. Â Most of the dishes hover around $12 in cost, and this is a good family place, since kids love pasta and pizza. The adults, well they can have adult beverages.
I had the Angel hair pasta with olive oil, Aglio Olio ($12), which came with your choice of sun-dried or fresh tomatoes. It was decent and filling. The green salad with the croutons and balsamic vinegrette was meh.
Great place to come for a simple meal with the kids if you live nearby.
Perfect place to bring messy kids. Â Also the perfect place for messy adults (you know the ones I mean). Â
Anyway, classic pizza joint down to the arcade games in the back. Â No frills and ultra casual. Â Sports bar at the front. I was a little scared walking in, but then I glimpsed the pizza one of the customers was eating and it looked really good. Â I didn't want to be rude, but I couldn't help ogling it as I passed by. Â I had been thinking pasta up to that point, but quickly changed my mind. Â We ordered the Mediterranean with light cheese and it was easily the best pizza we have had since moving up to the Bay Area (and hanging in there with my favorites). Â Wonderful crust, right amount of toppings, great sauce. Â Now this is what pizza should be like.
Service was good, but the place wasn't busy. Â Only downside is it doesn't deliver. Â We will definitely be back to order take-out. Beats Extreme Pizza hands down.
I have just moved to the are and done take out at Primo's twice. Both times it was OK, but nothing to write home about
The wings are tasty, and I would like to try them in house. I was not very impressed with the pizza, but I think most pizza do not hold up in a car ride, most are meant to be eaten in house - so while I do not foresee ordering another one to go, I would try it there.
The Chicken Parm dish is OK - nothing to write home about, but decent.
The BBQ Chicken Pizza is the best one I've had. I don't even like BBQ sauce on my pizza but I am a fan of this one. Do you want to know why? I'm going to tell you right now, right here. They don't skimp on the chicken. The pizza is loaded with chicken pieces and each tender piece has BBQ flavor.
The pizza here is old school no fancy schmancy crusts or gimmicks. Just good old pizza crust that is a little soggy from all the goodness they put on top. A little greasy? Maybe. Ok yes, BUT just a little bit. I will overlook that little tid bit for this place only. Why? Again, listen up. It's all about the authenticity of the pizza joint. This place has character and every Thursday night for the past 2 weeks there have been plenty of young hotties filling up the joint for post-kickball festivities. If that doesn't get you to get off up your Bee-hind to go get some pizza then, at least come join me for a beer.
Seriously the BEST pizza ever! not the place to go if you're on a diet... the food is delicious because I'm sure it's not too good for you!
I've been going here for over 20 years and it's always remained the same! The service is good. Bar drinks are kind of small so I'd just go for a beer. On Tues. they have buy one pizza get one free... AWESOME!
The appetizer sampler platter is amazing and any pizza that contains their sausage ROCKS!
There's a small arcade in the back for the kids, some TVs for sports fans, and a great frozen yogurt shop next door for dessert!
I wish I lived closer to I could go more often but it's probably good that I don't!
Not really a fan, and it pains me to say so because I remember LOVING this place as a kid.
It's not that anything was exactly horrible or wrong, it's just that nothing was especially good, you know?
There's so many other great restaurants in the area, that I really can't imagine making Primo's one that we go to often.
Besides just the mediocre pizza, drinks, and service, the game room is a TOTAL rip off. Nothing can be played for $.25 and most things are actually $.75 to $1.00 and of course your kids want to play in there so you are being ripped off to let your kids do 2 things all of which kills only 5 minutes.
It's not any cheaper than Amici's or Blackhawk Pizzeria. I know it's a Danville staple, but really, there's nothing to write home about. Â I REALLY wanted to love it, but I can't.
The person that helped me was pretty nice but all the other workers just looked at me while I waited to place my order. Â
Food was pretty good and large portioned. Â I had The Supremo pasta which was fettucine with assorted vegetables and chicken in olive oil. Â The chicken was actually soft and moist which was impressive and there was a good amount of vegetables included. Â Priced a bit high for regular consumption, but if I'm craving pasta, I'd come back. Â
Wish there was another solution to the parking situation though.
Seriously, this place is a friggin LANDMARK in the eyes of Danville....but why? Â I have to walk here for dinner just to keep my sodium levels in check.
I think everyone that loves this place recalls the "good ol' days" when they would meet up here post-little league and be awarded with their obligatory "even though you sat on the bench all season" trophy.
Hey - wake up - just because the big, scary Corporate World isn't handing out "You Suck, but We Love Ya" awards...does not make this place any better in taste, salt content or general ambiance.
Why the two stars? Â Service is consistently above average and done with a smile. Â That's always worth something!
I just tried this place for the first time last weekend with some friends. I wanted to wait to go back for a second visit before doing my Yelp review, but I don't know if I'll rush back. Â But it was pretty decent.
The inside reminded me of a tame Gay 90s (in Pleasanton) with less clutter on the walls but also less character. Â The wait staff were friendly and helpful, so thumbs up to them. Â We went about 8:30 on a Saturday night and they were already starting to close up before we were done ... mopping the floors, stacking chairs on tables, etc.
My boyfriend and I shared the seafood pizza (imitation crab, white fish, white sauce), which was pretty good considering I'd never had seafood pizza. There was ENTIRELY TOO MUCH cheese on this pizza though. Â After only two slices, I had an entire mini-plate full of uneaten cheese that was globbed onto the pizza. Â If you like extra cheese, this is your place. Â But I don't. Â The crust was good, though. Â The appetizer with fried cheese, fried zucchini and fried mushrooms was pretty good. Â Our friends shared the Greek pizza and seemed to enjoy it. Â Service was prompt and responsive.
I would go back here again, but it wasn't super. Â And if I do go back and order pizza, I'm asking them to go light on the cheese (seriously, I thought I was going to gag ... the pizza was SWIMMING in two different colors of cheese).
There was also this pop remix music blaring most of the time (went along nicely w/ the men's gymnastics on TV). Â Kinda weird.
